- Hyundai, the South Korean automaker, has recently announced that it has patented its own solid state battery technology, and that it is ready to reveal the details of its breakthrough. Hyundai also claims that its solid state battery has what it takes to challenge any other existing technology.
So, what is so special about Hyundai's solid state battery? And how soon will we see it in production ready vehicles?

Lots of references to "could" "if" "by" got it...
Rang is not exactly what I’m worried about, but it helps. What I am worried about is that dam thing burning 🔥 down my house 🏠
Very interesting. Solid state with a fluid pressure equalizing method however sounds like a contradiction.
Yeah, just what we want a battery kept under pressure. What happens if the pressure has a sudden decompression? Yeah.
Surpassing Toyota is not a key priority, since their projected new battery application is 2030 and beyond. It's China they have to compete with. Chinese brands already account for 60% of world's EV production and there are 50,000 charging stations in the country. Battery swapping facilities are cropping up like wild mushrooms. Hyundai is a great company that came right up to the heels of Toyota, I hope and believe they have a chance to succeed.
When you say Hyundai, do you mean Hyundai Motor Group, (Hyundai, Kia and Genesis)?
Ive said for years, EVs are in their Model T phase. All they need is time.
159 kWh per pound is so off the wall that we cannot tell if there are 1 or 2 profound errors in it: is it 159 Wh/pound, which. means 72 Watt-hours per kilogram (terrible), or is it 159 Wh/kg, or is it 350.5 Wh/kg, which is very good?
I am glad we have a new battery tech to "stun" or "shock" the industry. It has been eons since we had one /s.
on thus channel we have them every day
I see watt you did there.
They may take 5 years until we see them in the market
Watch the video they already are in cars now.
patterns of solid state battery have more than ten thousand item
So tired of so many saying technologies are still 10 years away , solid state is here now sodium-ion is here now, and many other battery technologies are here now.
Yes they compare to or are better than lithium and yes they hold as much if not more energy and are safer to use in a car.
Over the next ten years they will be improved a lot as scientists in labs experiment with different methods to improve them a lot more. But right now they are available and acceptable for use in cars.
Conclusion: Good battery but still many hurdles to overcome. What a waste of time 😞
Good battery able to hold enough energy at a lighter weight compared to lithium. These batteries are in cars right now, no more 5-10 years.
Toyoda is not focused on evs they want hydro motor
Too bad there was no mention of BMW…. They are currently placing a true solid state battery from Solid Power Co.(SLDP) into a prototype vehicle…. ruclips.net/video/8MCT3bsGgeU/видео.htmlsi=Vzvs2P63iEaBInmJ

Other types of liquid batteries might overtake the solid state battery. Solid state battery is not a game changer any more!
Citation please.
@panemon187 1. The solid
electrolyte is too expensive compared to the liquidic one.
2. It will be very difficult to solve the problem for electrode-electeolyte contact due to volume change caused by lithiation-delithiation as well as that from heat generation.
3. I am not sure if the dendrite formation on the anode in the solid state battery can be still be avoided in winter.
4. Other kinds of batteries are being rapidly developed such as Li-S battery. If it is in the market, there should be little benefit for the solid state battery.
Those described above reflects my viewpoint, and I do not insist that it is absolutely correct.
Canoo is interesting! They’re turning the company around! So if you can buy canoo stock (GoEV) for just 22 cents share, I think it’s worth the gamble on a little money… say $1000. As a Tesla investor canoo is very interesting! It’s a USA based EV company that now has a factory ramping manufacturing and delivering actual vehicles. Canoo offers a modular skateboard that can accept various bodies; a car, truck and van! like the new Tesla cyber truck it has drive-by-wire technology! I know it’s a long-shot, but the recent pivot to sell B2B to fleet buyers such as Amazon as delivery vans give it a unique niche Tesla hasn’t addressed yet. It could be a 100 banger!
Spam, advertising fully off-subject.
Bankruptcy for canoo
What could possibly go wrong .
136 kwh/lb .... take away the k then it may be correct. always interssting to see how the world gets srunned.
We need batteries that can at least match the energy density of petroleum to bring down prices comparable to ICE cars(to be adopted by the man on the street). As for soaring electricity prices... more solar, wind, wave, and renewable energy generators need to be built and sustained. And these technologies are evolving year on year..Even China and India have mastered these technologies and are getting cheaper..Buit i believe however cheap it gets, the Big Energy companies and governments will find ways to make a massive profit from them unless it is based on Islamic principles(i.e benefit the people ... Become a Muslim and see a better tomorrow by implementing its teachings instead of selfish imperialistic capitalist ideas,,
No we dont, we need at max a car that can travel 300 miles on a charge, maybe 400 for longer distance drivers.
