Ahh...that s what I like so much about your channel... "Fairy Godmother please drop me a tire in the middle of the desert...". No one would think of coming up with that line.😂

Glad you didn't skip the Canyon. Maybe some of those wide off road pegs, more comfortable for standing. Did you see the bike Noraly had built? She went old school. Her reasoning made sense.

Another excellent video dude. I think a lot of us share similar thoughts that you've expressed. Kinda validates my own messed up mind. New Mexico is an awesome place! Looking forward to more.

That was a ride you're glad you didn't miss, and me too! Thanks for the ride. Lovely canyon, open meadows, and changing trail conditions. Always amazes me that these roads exist, and generally in passable conditions, people ride/drive them, and work them. Again thanks for the memories. What a workout ay?

Before every big trip, I always do new tires, brake pads, sprockets, and chain. Sometimes they're not wore out but I do it anyway

I ride a 2006 KLR 650 and for some reason I have not been able to keep a rear tire for any time at all. I have gotten 5,000 to 6,000 miles out of a front tire, usually flip it around halfway through that to even up the wear. But the rear, it’s been awful with the tire situation. Last year I left Southwest Oklahoma with a brand new tire, on a 90 degree day. By the time I got to Clayton, NM, which is about 360 miles, the tire was already missing 8 lugs out of the center, and a couple off the edge. So, needless to say, I haul a rear tire and just go until it won’t go anymore.

They graded Chloride early last year and it made a huge difference. Between the fires and everything else it was getting really bad back there.

Go for it. That tire looked beat up but you have time before it starts chording. Make sure you have good pressures since you were weighed down with gear.

I look at this Chloride Canyon section and can’t help thinking of all the videos I’ve been watching about debris flows in Western North Carolina. And how sneaky flash floods can sneak up on you in the West. That would totally take my mind off my back tire.

Truth. I'm sure that canyon has had some crazy flooding at some point...

I would have put new tires on before I left home. Right now I'd STFU and ride. You're already out there, might as well make the best of it.

Yes. Right on time. Good morning, and thanks Ang.
Edit to answer the question in real time (for me)... yes, you should do it.

I ride on Heidenau k60 scout on my Himalayan. Hard to fit tires but I think I'll get more mileage out of them. Good luck.

High temps and high speed pavement kills tires very quickly.

The more off-road the tire is , the more accelerated rate of wear on the black top ..... I think you probably need a Trail Wing TW42 🤷‍♂️ 😳 🤣

I don't know what people see in those Bavarian Gelände/Straße(originally Gentleman Scrambler) Monstrosities. vielleicht das Prestige.🤷🏻‍♂️
Most of the GS owners have probably never taken them offroad, Imagine picking that boat anchor up by yourself!

As far as the mining claim, it has to do with the 1872 mining act which transfers a lot of the public lands to private Enterprise to destroy and leave a big fffing mess for future generations to deal with or potentially clean up their predecessors bad and rapacious actions. Giant wealth transfer from public to private!
