They could use this same groove in Probly the next list of top 40 hits on the radio. Lol. Sounds like every pop song/modern country groove. Can tell he is a studio guy. Big snare and kick hits. Precise accuracy. Lighter cymbal playing. Sick playing
holy FUck this sounded amazing
had it on repeat for couple of hours in the background while working
Blaze! Thanks for the good word, def appreciate. Check out my other vids too and hit the like button. This will help me not be invisible on RUclips haha. Again, thanks brotha!!
This absolutely KICKS and ROCKS. incredible groove, It's instantly listenable too. TY.
Joanna! Thanks so much for the kind words..
These top of the line Paiste cymbals are superb!
Thanks Milo! I def love my Paiste's! What is your setup btw?
Great!
Thanks!
nice work
Appreciate that!
I have to comment here, I’ve watched just about all your videos and I have to say they’re very fun to watch/listen to. Great grooves and cool style.
Wow! Thank you so much for the kind words. Are you a drummer? Hope you're having a nice holiday btw.
Yeah! Thank you. As for me, I am a drummer, guitarist and piano player. Working on an album at the moment. Been searching for cymbal videos (and recording techniques). Getting inspiration! Best, Welker
Excellent! Fun to see the groove!
Thank ya Basscomb!
Dude those drums are something else!!
Thanks brotha!!! 🤘🤓
Now that's how you lay a solid FAT BEAT, the meatloaf is what I call it. Being in a traditional death metal band I've learned that it's not about the technicality but about how you make ppl feel and move and sprinkle bits of that technicality like your doing here!!!! Love the fat sound on your drums! Thanx for this!
Thank you! Yep, feel is most important to me. How’s the band doing btw? Anything new?
@@therealjonsmith1 as a matter of fact yes!! Demo is being released soon hopefully in Oct. We have a fb page, a IG page and a bandcamp page if ya like to stay up to date. Look for THROAT LOCUST brother. I'm sure we will have a youtube page soon too haha.
I'd love to have this gig. Great work and ideas!
Hey, I appreciate it!
tasty fills!
Thanks Julian!
Nice grooves, great sounding kit. Thanks for the samples.
🤘🤓
Your measured attack is inspirational. Hitting the studio again soon and I am sure to play different now 🤜
Simon! Thank you so much! What are you recording btw? Lmk if I can help you with anything.
@@therealjonsmith1 thank you! It's always a learning curve you never stop, plenty to gleam from your videos and take away!
Dude, you sound incredible
Hey Vyotech! Appreciate that. The supplements are working 👍🤓
Awesome brother, and Nice Supraphonic!!
Thank you kindly! Yeah, really like that drum. Classic!
I dig
Thanks Lucas!
so groovy!! cool!
Thank you! What types of vids would you like to see? Anything in particular?
@@therealjonsmith1 I love Nashville country music. I would love to see you play with country music recording session. by the way The coolest drummer I've ever seen
@@user-xn3wf9qk5m Me too! I lived and worked there for years before moving to Los Angeles. Okay, I'll work on playing some country tracks for ya. Thanks so much for the kindness btw..
RUclips algorithm wins again-- this is tasty! And what is that ride cymbal? Love that trashy wash.
Hey thanks Rion! The ride is a 22” Paiste Masters Dark Ride. I’m really enjoying it myself. I’m working on this channel right now. Lmk if there’s anything you’d be into seeing me play or talk about. Hope you’re doing amazing and thanks again.
@@therealjonsmith1 It's a great ride--I've had my ears and eyes on one of those and this confirms that I need one.
In terms of things to seeing/hearing you talk about:
1.) your gear sounds great; I'd love to have a quick tour of the setup and maybe an expansion on tuning, drum sounds, etc.
2.) maybe some copyright issues here, but I'd love to hear you discuss your process for drum part creation, from hearing the tunes without drums and then do a walk-through of how you come up with parts, how long it takes, etc., give someone a "day in the life" of a tracking a tune by someone who does this all this time.
Thanks and I'll be watching!
ads are infernal!
Hey Dave! Thanks for letting me know, I hate them too. I’m not presently monetized and not sure I can disable the ads. Looking into it as I type. On it 👍
Whats your theory on burying the bass drum beater, or not to bury? Is it better for your balance to bury it?..thanks
Is that a second (lower ) tomon the left? Can anyone explain why drummers (Brian Bennett of the Shadows sometimes uses one) have a drum to their left (if they;re left handed) and why?
What a great sound! What head are you using on that Supraphonic?
Thanks Michael! I almost always use a Remo CS Dot on top and Ambassador on bottom. But, sometimes I have a diplomat on bottom..depending on the drum.
Was this for a particular song you were working on or just doodling around?
Hey Clint. Yeah, I get asked to play a ton of different vibes at a set tempo or tempos for particular clients sometimes. They comp and edit for anything they need. It’s maddening, and I run out of ideas, but this is the gig haha.
I have so many tempos I’ve done this with. I can see how it may seem boring to watch / listen to but it’s the reality of being a session musician at times.
What are you working on btw?
@@therealjonsmith1 humble and honest, thanks for that.
@@therealjonsmith1 that's good stuff. I enjoy watching.
Hi Jon, I was wondering that Ludwig model that drum set is. Thanks !!
Hey Juan! The snare drum is a new 5x14 Ludwig Supraphonic aluminum model.
I like the Larry Mullen Jr set up. 👎
Hey thanks Greg! I see you have some influences as well. All the best 🤘🤓
