    Mmmm caloric restriction is not so hard. we are now used to eating huge anounts. In my youth in the 50's I knew many who ate far far less,, very simply, worked hard as farmers and were very very thin. No one was hungry and no one was a big eater. Mum was the same. All three i know of lasted into their 90's and were still active. Country towns in Oz have a lot of funerals for 90 year olds. I know a farmer still farming and driving in his 90's and looking 70.

      I had the same thought whilst watching this video. Caloric restriction is not hard, once you do regular fasting it's just another way of living. Over eating is like a drug addiction.

    There is a slide at 2:37, which mentions "Cellular Communication". That triggered something from my past. I am tempted to go back in time, and check something. Maybe some of you will beat me to it. I was for a while acquainted with a saccharide supplement product called "Ambrotose", and they used to spell out which rare saccharides it contained. (It's hard to find that list now). I should like to compare that list with Glycans & Glycan components, as published in some reliable, standard list, and see if there are any "hits". Sourcing details of the Ambrotose formula have been published and can be located, so the rarity of the specific saccharides can be overcome with effort. Still, I want to see if there is some connection between this video, and the contents of an old product in my history, said to promote "Cellular Communication" (like the slide at 2:37 ). I know this: Mannose, easily available from Aloe, is a building block of some Glycans, and enjoys some anecdotal endorsement in the natural health community. As always, be careful !!

    • @pjaworek6793
      @pjaworek6793 4 дня назад +2

      Moment you started i thought of the mannose mix too.

    • @pjaworek6793
      @pjaworek6793 4 дня назад

      I ate a bottle for $100 in the 2000's and figured it wasn't worth it if i could get these glycans from the diet and cheap mannose. Nothing subsequently came along to pursue this glycan supplementation (other than bladder infections, which as a man, I don't get), but the story is still compelling.
      "Ambrotose is a glyconutrient supplement that contains glycans, which are plant sugars linked in chains. Glyconutrients are sugars that the body can use as nutrients.
      What is Ambrotose?
      Ambrotose is a combination of sugars that the body uses to make glycoproteins
      Ambrotose is marketed as a supplement that can improve immune function, sleep, memory, and more
      Ambrotose is a product of Mannatech
      What are glycans?
      Glycans are plant sugars linked in chains
      The body breaks down glycan chains into simple sugars
      Glycans are like a five-course meal at the cellular level
      Healthy cells have better cell-to-cell communication when they can send and receive signals to each other
      What is the evidence for Ambrotose's health benefits?
      There is no good evidence to support the health benefits claimed for Ambrotose
      There are no clinical studies in the PubMed database that support the use of Ambrotose for any clinical indication"
      "Glyconutrient Sham", looks like a good read.

      @incognitotorpedo42 4 дня назад +5

      Ambrotose ingredients: Arabinogalactan, Rice starch, Aloe Vera extract, Glucosamine HCl. I think there's more to this than just mannose. Probably mannose specifically bound to some other sugar or sugars. This concoction is very expensive. You can get Aloe Vera from NOW that's not expensive. I suspect that's most of the magic here.

    Genes are still at the basis of everything in our bodies, with the most important part of it being the epigenome. And that is where aging, in the end, will be stopped. But I do not want to discount his research, he is right in saying that we must understand everything about glycans, because only if we understand the products of our genes, like proteins or glycans, we have the knowledge to change our genes to improve them

    • @33Crazydude

      I believe much of our ageing process is driven by genetic signals that progressively downregulate bodily functions, leading to increasing damage over time.
