My laptop ended up idling at around 45 after waiting for a bit, and the highest temp i could get it to go to was 85, which is a lot better than 75 idling! Thermal paste is usually the most common reason for high temps, especially in gaming laptops, so applying some good quality paste can fix the issue for a while.
Hey quick question since my fan is failing and I only want to change the fan can I just unscrew the small black screws that screw into the fan to change it?
Suggests disconnecting the battery when doing anything inside the laptop. You should try using phase-change material Honeywell PTM7950. It comes in as a sheet, lasts longer and performs in my experience works better than traditional pastes, and instead of thermal pads give thermal putty Upsiren UX Pro. Do undervolting on the CPU and GPU at -100mV or more if it will be stable. It is also good to disable or reduce the frequency of the CPU in turbo boost, because for most games high clocking is unnecessary. And finally give a cooling pad such as IETS GT500. It will be more fps, quieter, cooler and less power will be drawn.
Good advice! I completely forgot about the battery. I would have invested in something like thermal putty/pads if this laptop had better hardware, so that's why i went with something cheaper like paste instead. I have also messed around with undervolting but it hasn't given any significant changes other than 1-2 degree temp drops (it had quite a few restrictions before i could to so). I have tried using a cooling pad, but I found around the same performance with a simple stand. Appreciate the comment!
You really made me feel anxious by casually lying your heatsink on the motherboard and pressing on in with the paper towel :D By the way, let me ask you a question: is your case still getting hot to the touch in the heatsink area after the clean up? I have exact same model and last clean up was about a year ago now. I still get idle 49C and max stress arround 80-85C, but sometimes I can barely keep my fingers on the area between F keys and the display.
RUclips somehow didn't notify me for these comments :/ It was still pretty hot even after the thermal repasting, but at least it was bearable. It is a huge improvement from the factory, but I use an external keyboard anyways. (Also yeah I know i could and should have put the heatsink aside instead of on the mobo lol)
I sees higher after buying in a 5 or 6 months the cpu goes in higher temps around 80 to 90 in video rendering and while extracting games from fitgirl repacks and my gpu stays normal like 70 to 80 is ok
On the gpu i hace 2 screws labeled as 10 and the upper 10 and 8 wont come off and because of that i cant get the heatsink out and im scared to break it
My MSI Thin GF63 Thin 9SC still freezes randomly even if idle. Even though I re-applied thermal paste for cpu and gpu using Kryonaut Thermal Grizzly, replaced the WI-FI card to Intel AX200, upgrade my RAM to 32GB, and what not. It seems that this freezing problem of mine is common with this model. :( I would not buy MSI laptops ever again.
Honestly same, the QC over a lot of MSI products doesn't seem to reliable from what I've seen online. You could have received one of those ""faulty"" or slightly off products honestly. Hopefully you can resolve it with software updates :(
HI I have the same computer as you. 9750+1650 max-q I have used it for three years and changed the thermal conductive paste twice(one is the thermal kryonaut last year just now change it to thermalright TH9 ) (ps some post already say the kryonaut was not the good choose thermal for laptop i think is correct because i open it the thermal already dry and showing out the die maybe i everyday open pc for playing ) . I haven't met you so far.I met BSOD twice last month because I updated the new OS version, but so far there is no problem. If your computer is still under warranty, it is recommended to go to the place where you bought it (although you have changed the thermal paste and damaged the sticker)
btw you can use a fan to cool down the laptop a little. i applied that after i realized the keyboard part was a little hot, and the temperature dropped a little and it would be better if i used a fan. i played gta v story or online, the temperature was 82 degrees max.
Watching this video the night before I get thermal paste and hearing you say at 4:21 70°C meanwhile my laptop has been running at 95°C for months (it's 4 years old never opened up before untill last week)
MSI laptop moment, can't really say anything else :p Really not sure what they were thinking while putting just one tiny fan in the laptop producing this much heat.
@@markusdaffue5732 Usually, laptops will have 2 fans that blow air through the back. For whatever reason, MSI just went with one fan for this model. PCs are a whole different story as you can choose different fans which are mounted in the case, and can be customized as per your needs. The CPU then has its own fan, and the same for the GPU. There are also different cooling methods (eg: liquid cooling) that you can use too.
I use msi gf63 ...and I planned to change thermal paste...so I ordered cooler master gel pro that's amazing result I get ..after I cleaned the fan and replace the thermal paste...I just amazed because my laptop older temperature is going up and stay in 95 celcius but now 65 celcius to 70 celcius only going which is more less than older i recommend the cooler master gel pro and periodic fan cleaning ...and get amazing results trust me

You don't *have* to change the thermal paste, I just did it as mine was getting pretty hot. Seeing that your other comment says you get 60-70, that's actually a really good range to be in. You shouldn't have to repaste it any time soon :)
Please someone help me. I just disassembled my gf63 to change its thermal paste. But after I assembled it won't turn on and the charging indicator lamp didn't turn on too. Can someone give me suggestions what's wrong with my gf63?
Did you plug the AC adapter in after you closed up everything? Make sure to double check all the connectors as well, sometimes they aren't fully connected
Bro you need to open your cpu fan for major cleaning. It's definitely the culprit. Idle temperature should be only 40+ on cooler boost mode. It's not just about applying some new thermal paste.😊
NITR0 loves his MSi Thin Gf63 cyborG upgrade the ram and put heatsink gel on all the plastic package ic and power controllers let it get hot under its own power to pull in hell into itself using thermal direction and movement inside of things
It's just fine, but I honestly cannot recommend MSI products to anyone. If you notice that your laptop is running hotter/throttling more, you could try repasting. Though, do some tests before opening it and repasting it, as it can be a pretty annoying process. Good luck!
Mine's turning 5yrs. And if you think that your laptop becomes hotter than usual, maybe it's time to do some thermal paste renewal and some cpu fan cleaning! You'll see the major accumlation of dirt and dust inside when you remove those black screws.

I have Upsiren thermal puddy, how do I apply it should I match up the size to the old thermal pads I'm scared if I size the puddy too big or small.

When did you get temp issues first time after using your laptop
How many months
U need to change minimum every 3 month if u use ur laptop for gaming all the time, and the maximum is 6 month

how did you disconnect the cpu fan cable so effortlessly?? its like mine is glued on

Why you did not removed the battery?
I just changed i my termal paste used to get high fps but also high temp now i get just 20 fps in games like valo what should i do?
Have you monitored your temps? See if its overheating in any way, or if its something completely different that's causing the lag.
please check your gpu power and gpu voltage.
