I got to see him on his UK tour last year. Fantastic player... Needs to be seen live to be truly appreciated.
love Walter ! opened a show in Erie PA, for Walter in 2012 or 13 with my band "The Cralwers" ,. His band and the man him self signed 2 of my guitars ! UNFORGETABLE !!!
@@kenwalterssr.8523 way to make it about you
This guy is a real guitar player.
Love Walter, cat's got real, genuine soul. I was walking down Main St. in Huntington Beach, CA one evening - and heard this ripping guitar come blasting out of an old dumpy bar called Perq's. I asked the doorman if what I was hearing was just something recorded. He said: "Na man - that's Walter Trout live" - and I said "Walter Trout?" (Who the hell is Walter Trout... ) Went in - stayed the entire show. Dude ripped the walls down on every song! One of the most impressionable evenings ever in front of a band. Rock On, Brah !!!
I remember a blind guitarist that used to play open parties in the Valley during the 70's who could rip like no one else. After watching him play many times I noticed he used what Walter mentions here about transposing everything up the neck by making your index finger the bridge.
Could listen to Walter all day, what a lovely man.
Relentless and No More Fish Jokes are incredible LOUD, raucous, down and dirty electric blues records. A must for any fan of the genre.
I agree. NMFJ is the album that got me into Walter but it fell on deaf ears among my friends who all seemed to be into Jeff Healey at the time. Don't get me wrong JF was awesome but there's something about WT that gave me more and still does. A brilliant player.
Thanks for the tip I'll be looking these up 👍
Love this guy great guitarist and seems a great guy.
I've never heard anyone put it out there so to the point. If you're learning, listen closely to what he's saying. Never forget it's all about the freedom of expression. You can't do it wrong, but you can always improve through refinement. Best wishes ✌️🎸
His blues make mine go away.
Love Walter Trout, a true legend
The young Trout was a natural with scales.
Issit
Legend,love this guy
that tone is brutal
Well, my left ear enjoyed the video at least.
i thought that i had lost hearing! fuuuuck
LOL! Thankfully I’m not alone!
Walter has a similar look as Chet Baker (a great horn player). When someone asked Chet about all his wrinkles, he responded by saying "they're laugh lines." The interviewer said, "nothing is that funny!" Walter looks, plays and feels the blues... hope to see him live someday.
Great advice. Thanks for sharing.
A true legend
Great meat and two vege blues guitarist - seen him several times 🤘
Thank you a Masterful lesson given with humiliy thank you.
Seen him play first time perqs
1987
Hey Walter maybe I need ta learn guitar. But I still can play drums miss ya playing in the Heat Bros Mr Tully
Fine story in 2nd part of the video. 🎉👍
He's not playing through his Mesa rig. Don't know what they plugged him into for this. Guitar body of his '73 was maple or ash probably, very heavy. This one is either paulownia, or basswood. With a hardtail bridge.
I'm from Mississippi.. Live in louisiana... Been teaching guitar for a while... This guy is what we call around here a carpetbagger.... Inversion, my ass...
wow what a drive!!°
Hard Tail. Nice.
All the fuss and snobbery around guitars, and the old pro's know what they like. . A parts-o-caster . . Lovely
Caged type system as others have already commented.
He is quite good
simples, great!
caged shapes ?
good advice, the tone is so harsh tho @_@
I bet he has a water cooled guitar neck.
smart man. he realized a hardtail strat sounds better and stays in tune better
I naturally gravitated for the bullet truss rod Fenders
Mr Seymour Duncan sounds a great guy.
Hot hot hot
Saw him last summer.. Lancaster PA....Great Show..!!! And Btw...Not a typical strat tone...I actually admired it....(Does Jeff Beck... Adrian Belew... have typical strat tones?..NO!! But I love Em!) Just Enjoy his playing for God's sake!
Excellent !.... Do you not speak english (...) ....👍👍👍👍
Thank you very much /merci beaucoup 🙂
Do the chord inversions follow the pentatonic boxes?
Yes.
The other way round technically. But yes! :-)
Bet y'all didn't know this was Samantha Fish father. Boom.
?
I'll just get Seymour Duncan's phone number out of my Rolodex now...
I like this but does anyone under 50 like it?
Im 47!lol
Hell yea I’m 39
You are an idiot, go back to Justin Beiber
Anybody that appreciates good music, well played, should at least respect it, if not like it.... Irrespective of age!
Ouch!
Man, this should be Walter Trout Life Lesson instead
There was nothing bluesy about that guitar tone,
I hate to see the tremor in his hands. I have essential tremors and it sucks when you’re picking single notes in a chord.
😳😳😳😳😳😳
Maybe you have to watch a show, i listened to a few fumbled licks in this video and.. i don't get it.
Cain Mckechnie yea ok. Go watch him in stage. I’m sure your much better. He may be just a bit off since he almost died. Let’s look at his career and we’ll compare it to yours.
he's giving you the key and doesn't teach you. You go find it out yourself :)
JAMIE HUNTING

Heavier than a les Paul….
that tone is horrible...
Fucking awesome tone
The sound engineer for the video needs to put the voice in both channels. So annoying
Lovely man, rotten guitar tone.
Great advice, but not a great guitar tone
Hey Walter maybe I need ta learn guitar. But I still can play drums miss ya playing in the Heat Bros Mr Tully
