You should read Kurzweils new book that came out June 25, 2024. It's the exact same thing he has been saying since spiritual machines. Indeed, this singer was ahead of his time. Must be a smart feller.
I just realized the year 2029 is only 5 years from now. It seemed like the distant future when I first heard this song. Now even my cell phone has integrated AI. We will have to see where this goes.
@@Louse76 I can put on the next one - Gravity - and I'm instantly transported to 18 years old not the best album - but since I was pretty heavily into them, the better songs bore a hole in my skull
thanks to "gravity" they got an airplay on the radio in my country, otherwise i wouldn't have heard of them and wouldn't know how good their other albums before gravity were!
I agree, it's definitely one of their best songs. I find the video really compelling too. And you nailed it, it's kind of sad but also really beautiful and hopeful at the same time. Just a great encapsulation of these parts of life.
Our Lady Peace gives me a state of mind where I can feel myself seriously escaping. I was born in 1995 and I swear It was just the wrong year for me. 16 years old and I feel trapped in a decade at the wrong age. My music all belongs to a time before me. But this the music I grew up to, and my love for it hasn't changed. I need this band. I need this escape. I'm trapped around people I don't even relate to. This band? It's my release. Our Lady Peace. Always.
for me growing up in the mid 90's in Canada; it was eminem my name is, Our Lady Peace In Repair, matthew good band strange days.. that is my childhood..
My sister gave me an OLP cd when I was 11 or 12. Automatic flowers and Superman's Dead blasted from my room for years. Now in my 30s I find their music is my go to when I am struggling with anxiety or the feelings of being in the grips of change. They bring peace to my chaotic mind.
I totally get that--my ex broke up with me, and this is one of the songs that helped me get through it, as I realized we didn't have that type of partnership.
I remember getting back from a trip with my friends at the end of high school. I sat in my car balling knowing I hadn't figured out life or my future yet. To be honest I'm now 41 and I've still yet to figure it out.
I saw OLP on tour at a smaller venue about 5 years ago, and they played this song. It was one of the songs that I had hoped they would play the most. Unreal how much harder it hit me while seeing them live, an emotional experience. This will always be one of my favorite songs by them.
Saw this on MuchMusic when I was like 10 and it gave me my first existential crysis about the imminence of death... That's pretty rock'n'roll. OLP are underrated.
This song made me re-evaluate the band's entire sound and meaning, and spoke to me deeply during a very dark time in my life. I now absolutely love Our Lady Peace and am finally listening to this full album. Truly an incredible and inspiring track about the road to recovery.
music has some kind of energy and the songs with meaning can be truly inspiring in different ways. i am a ex cancer patient who is in repair. but spiritually as well as physically .
Helps me process these messed up emotions. My so of 34 yrs had a heart attack and I’ve been through the gamut with depression and anxiety myself. Thankfully he was operated on and has bounced back quickly but we both are ‘in repair’ and this song just hits different now..
The other day I took 2g of mushrooms. I was somehow compelled to revisit this album. I laid there in complete awe at the raw emotion, and the story of every song. The choice of chords and the unconventional way these songs flow. All I can say is I get it. These guys are fantastic.
Years 2029 ….. Truth. OLP 40 years ahead of humanity. Also, the allowance of us going ahead of time permits the human brain and the “potential” evolved soul to go way way back to seek the stability that humanity currently seeks and needs. ✌️ Atlanta? ❤️✌️❤️ let’s go there.
i'm high and watching this from my past. there's truth to this song. i had a new born son. without thinking to deep into this mess, olp brings me peace.
Most under rated band in Canada... Saw these guys In London Ontario mid 2000s and defently one of Canadas unrated bands specialy all they did for the community & world in that fact.
I look down and read the comments and since well, everybody is getting all philosophical I'm going to just say that this video is so trippy. One of my favorite OLP songs, very underrated. Long live good music.
when i was 8 i heared this song for the first time. im 18 now and its strange to see how much the world around me has changed in the past 10 years. to me the whole album is something that i can look back on and remember a time where things where simpler more innocent. to me, our lady peace is timeless
another amazing track that kinda got lost in the clutter of everything during this time period. This is one of my fav tunes by OLP. You really feel the chorus...everything flows perfectly. Good song writing.
i just got my first job and my sister told me to buy this album when i got my first pay cheque. I didnt know who they were or what kind of music. I listened to this album almost every day for a year. It helped me through very difficult times.
My dad used to play this song for me when I was young. Seeing this music video makes my chest feel so hollow. I love this song and this video makes me miss when I was young, when my dad still loved me.
You can never stop loving someone once you've loved them. You can put that person in the back of your mind but you'll never stop loving them. Your dad loves you, I assure you.
Feels like only yesterday when I was sitting in the clinic skipping school and hearing this song over the radio. That was 20 years ago, how time flies.
And I cried on Wednesday in Halifax when they played it. Nice to know we're all together in our emotional response to their songs no matter where we are.
This album has been there when I had no one. When I thought about ending my life, when I couldn't reach out to anyone. When the people in my life shamed me and labeled me as toxic and walked away from me for how I feel. That lonliness. Where all you have is your headphones. I know It all too well
Over the years this song has actually rose to the top of their songs for me. I think it takes living through real relationship hell/love/confusion. No kid can really get this. You have to realize relationships do fail. Relationships that you could never imagine it could happen to. Very sad.
@Elizabeth Harmon I think I overstated that first part. It’s all relative. I think some relationships when younger would definitely qualify and the more mature kids would also be able to comprehend. Also forgot to add that any “kid” finding and listening to stuff like this for sure has very high EQ compared to other kids that aren’t. This is heavy stuff. Not the type of stuff kids listen to anymore
Our lady peace is my hope that real music still remains, you're the guys that make canadian music an amazing thing. I think i can proudly speak on behalf of all your fans, Thank you for your entertainment. we all love you.
Been listening to OLP since Naveed... seen them a few times live... never get sick of these guys! I'm now 27 and anticipating their next album so much!

Every time I judge someone, every time I negative self talk, every time I think I'm better than someone, any time I think I can drink again.... I'll always be in repair. Im glad im aware. This song blew me away as a kid and it blows me away at 37 even heavier. I'm glad I'm aware how fucking awesome Our Lady Peace was.

Probably their most ambitious album. And definitely their last "classic" one. They were such a great, quirky band back in the day.
agreed, after this they went mainstream radio rock.
Their next album was OK, but just a bridge to total sad garbage.
