Lyrics:
Oh, Johnny wishes he was famous
Spends his time alone
In the basement
With Lennon and Cobain and
A guitar and a stereo
While he wishes he
Could escape this
It all seems so contagious
Not to be yourself and faceless
In a song that has no soul
[Chorus:]
I remember feeling low
I remember losing hope
I remember all the feelings
And the day they stopped
We are,
We are all innocent, we are all innocent
We are, we are, we are
We are all innocent, we are all innocent
We are, we are
Oh, Tina’s losing faith in what she knows
Hates her music
Hates all of her clothes
Thinks of surgery
And a new nose
Every calorie is a war
While she wishes she
Was a dancer
And that she'd never
Heard of cancer
She wishes God would give her
Some answers
And make her feel beautiful
[Chorus]
One day
You'll have to let it go,
Oh one day
You'll stand up on your own, you'll stand up on your own
Yeah, remember losing hope,
Remember feeling low,
Remember all the feelings and the day they stopped
We are,
We are all innocent, we are all innocent
We are, we are, we are,
We are all innocent, we are all innocent
We are, we are
We are,
We are all innocent
(One day, you'll have to let it go, you'll have to let it go)
We are all innocent
We are, we are, we are,
We are all innocent, we are all innocent
We are, we are
We are,
We are all innocent
(One day, you'll stand up on your own, stand up on your own)
We are all innocent
We are, we are, we are,
We are all innocent, we are all innocent
We are, we are
We are... we are all innocent...
Why does it seem Canada has a disproportionate number of seriously fucking amazing bands and musicians?
They're still trying to apologize for Bryan Adams.
Jessica Causey and Justin Bieber...
Storm Myths Canada is phenomenal, just that the USA sometimes forgets there are more countries then just themselves :). proud to be Canadian
@@JessCausey Bryan Adams has one of the greatest voices ever. Love his raspy voice. Also Heaven is a beautiful song.
I will forever adore Barenaked Ladies and have since 1991.
This is THE most early 2000's thing I've ever seen.
And I'm not complaining.
Tharpedo Entertainment you should check out "The Way I Feel" by 12 Stones, now that's the most early 2000's thing you'll ever see...lol
Screw it, that was a good time
Déjà Siku - lol, agreed!
I saw them open at the Cedar Fest in the Twin Cities in the late 90's, it was their first gig in the U.S. So a very transitional time in music, but they, in my opinion, were one of the best on stage and that's compared to Primus!!
That was an Anthem in high school in Canada in those days.
When I feel like there's no hope, I listen to this. Those out there suffering, don't worry. We will make it out of the dark days.
its june 2 2017 chris cornell is dead gone...rip u touched so many youll never be forgotten...

When?
Me too!
We are all innocent

No lyrics have ever spoken to me more, and they become even more relatable as I get older. This song is one of my favourite songs ever.
Its really good.
There's beauty and truth in everything. And everyone.
I always loved this verse, great writing!
OLP is a national treasure of Canada and one of the best bands you'll ever see live... this song got me through so many dark days back when I was a kid... we've all struggled with something and this song just re-enforces the truth that we are all innocent and worthy of our best life!
Dancing round the living room now!
This song is actually not the humanist manifesto some are claiming. This is about the inevitability of child like innocence lost. The Lyrics say, "You'll have to let it go and stand up on your own" It's not a song to reinforce the horrible things people do as adults but acceptance of the coming of age we all experience whether we want to or not.
Olp is one of the worst bands I've ever seen love - I do like there music though
I agree brother, if we are #AI improving our walk in Spiritual Faith with God Then we are all innocent and the devil will be the only one who’s in #Hell 😁Thanks for your comment @YouwillSurvive with #GodsHelp
I don't know about anyone else, but in my life there was a specific time when I longed for the innocence of childhood, and the purity I had before I made some regretful decisions. Don't spend your life looking back at this. Make good decisions.
This song still helps me even as a adult.
Oh, realley, cutie Kareen?! Well, made by canadians after all, babey :P :)

You fucking rights bro.
One day, you'll have to let it go
One day, you'll stand up on your own

Remembering feeling low

It took me 35 years to get that day. This song makes me tear up every time it gets to that part.
At 28, I remember the day too. Sending hugs and love your way ❤🤗
I'm in the middle of though times right now I know i have to go through it but im hoping I can relate to these lyrics sometimes sooner then later.
33
I am only a year away then 😂 but nope every one has that day when they are ready I guess
It's good stuff, that's why.
Congrats to all who stand up on their own.
No one puts this much effort in to their music anymore.
While music today suuuuuucks there is way way way more effort pouring into songs. There is def. less art put into it I'd say
@@bellamyc7895 Todays music doesn't suck anymore than it did in the past. You are just hearing what other people are listening to without looking for yourself. There is many great new music, you just aren't looking.
For people in the 70s, this was considered pop rock when bands like this came out. They were saying the same shit about bands like this, as you guys are saying about the new shit you hear.
Billy Talent on line one
I love the fact that this comment is 13 years old, people always been saying this shit 😂
2020 and who’s still listening ! I love this song 🥰
Boom. Right here. :)
@@Jesusisachomo Me too
Always check in yearly!
19-06-2020 !!!
The world could use a little of this right now.
Struggled with depression and lonliness throughout high school, and even though I've been done for over a year now I can't say I've gotten any better, but this song is a huge comfort for me and music as a whole is. I love it so much and I hope to form a band someday and if I can make a song half as good as this, and reach out to people to let them know they are not alone, then that gives me a purpose to keep fighting against depression, not just for myself but for others too. Even if I don't have anyone ill still have the hope to make music and hopefully help others.
Hope your feeling a little better. Each day removed from high school is a day closer to eventually finding yourself and realizing it was all so meaningless really. Then you will get to your 40s and go to class reunions and have more in common with your polar opposite from high school than some of your friends from that time. It’s wild
Hey . There is solace in music. It is the best medicine. Hope your dreams come true.
@@ericswain70 Thank you.
👍
I get you bro.....just remember that the loneliness helps us to appreciate and cherish the fleeting moments of happiness we get to experience once in awhile. Stay strong. 🙂
I'm 24 now, when I was 10 years old this song would ALWAYS be on the radio playing when my alarm clock woke me up in the morning. It's one of my favourite songs ever. Such absolute nostalgia.
Now you're 27, I hope you are alive.
It always woke you? like you were stuck repeating the same day over and over......hey thats a cool idea for a movie!
@@bellamyc7895 no, not repeating the same day over and over. the song was newly released and for whatever reason, the vast majority of the time, this song would be the song that was on when my radio alarm clock woke me up.
@@sillyeyelash291 i'm 29 now :)
31, I was about there with you.

I'm 26 now and this song still makes it better when I'm having a shit day.
R Pants Same, I'm 23, and remember hearing this song growing up, it's very uplifting, makes me wish I appreciated just being alive, not that I don't, it's just some days I wonder why I feel so damn sad, why I feel the way that I do sometimes.......

It's amazing how some songs can hit you so hard unexpectedly. Feeling depressed and hearing this makes you want to cry and scream at the same time lol
Maybe you
Going through some major Post Concert Depression right now. I saw them last night with I Mother Earth. The feeling of belting out the chorus with 5000 complete strangers is one of the most surreal and sobering things.
They'll be on tour with Bush! Looking forward to this summer! I'll catch them at the PNC in NJ one June!
@@johnrosa9985 my wife, some friends and I are going to this show in Omaha. I heard this and alot of other of their songs without realizing who they were. So I'm looking forward to their set and also LIVE. This will be our second time seeing BUSH, we are going to meet them too.
Nice I'm seeing them along with live and bush this 10th can't wait
i saw them 3x...fabulous live
my friend who is in a wheelchair saw OLP with Matthew Good back in 2018
I dont add many comments to anything but, I want to say "Thank You!!" This song saved my life during my first deployment. I was so low in depression, I was going to end it
Then a friend gave me this song.
It brings tears to my eyes to this day listening to it. Thank you so much for this song, 5 kids later, this song, is a big reason, myself, and them are here. Thank you, so much Our Lady Peace. I dont know how many you saved with this song but, I stand amongst them.
Sending hugs and love ❤🤗 Thank you for your service!
I’m so glad that u made it thru dude !! Love to u from Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹 !!!!
I’m so glad u made it thru dude . Love to u from Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹 !!!!
This band and song are severely underrated. This songs brings me back to my childhood. I love the meaning behind this song
Remember watching this in 2002 on Much Music.
It's amazing that ... musicians can touch so many more people than they are ever aware of in their life. They make all of these sounds ... and they don't realize .. that 20+ years later that someone will hear them and realize that those sounds represent them and nobody else really understands that... this is intimacy
Couldn't agree with you more. Music truly is one of the greatest pleasures we get to experience in our short stay on this planet. 🙂
2024 you here . Such a powerful song
Amen!!!!
I long for the nostalgia of my youth and hearing this in 2024, while fucking low and down because of chronic illness....I am reminded of my innocence and I fight for the kid I once was.

Finger Eleven.
Huge bands state side, especially The Hip, love OLP and Matt Goode
You don't know how comforting this comment is for me at 24.
What about the female bands?
The Northern Pikes, Barenaked Ladies and Derryck Robie from Sum-41.
Oh, and also RUSH.
I remember watching them perform this song on a children's charity telethon. One of the kids there was a cancer patient but she wanted to be a dancer, and really liked this song. It's just stuck with me forever that they did a live show for her.
As far as inspirational songs go or just songs with a positive message, this one has certainly topped my list for like, what, two decades? More? Gets me every time.

My life has been great. I've had loving parents, wonderful opportunities, and a safe and secure childhood and even adulthood.
But this song, for some reason, chokes me up every time I hear it.
Mystrohan I hate my life no body loves me :(
Thats not true. Struggling is a part of life, it becomes understanding and you will hate to see others go through it, and become a healer. Negative mental aspects of yourself will fade in time, you'll get older and wiser, grow old, and fall in love. All these are wonderful things, and I understand why you feel the way you do. I'm here for you. As are the rest of the saints, healers, gurus, kind athiest people, Christians, and all other people who desire good in their hearts. Try helping others, and learn, and if you don't know, don't be afraid to ask God, he has given me great knowledge. This I will use to carry others through their grief, and through the fire and the flames we carry on! (dragonforce song, haha).
I doubt that's true. Even if it is somehow true right now, there will come a day when someone does in fact love you. Your existence is inherently valuable, and it's only a matter of time before somebody realizes it. That's what this song was written to commemorate.
we need more songs like this these days
@@halliex679 somebody's gonna love you.
1:53 - 2:41 is just beyond music. Absolutely brilliant.

I remember when I attended my first ever concert and it was Our Lady Peace.
This was their ending song after an encore! Lost my voice singing "We are all innocent" but it was so awesome

How good was rock music and it’s music clips from the early 2000’s so much nostalgia
I'm about to see them for the 1st time 8/27/19 at the Allentown Fair, along with LIVE and Bush. I just watched some of these videos and I'm impressed; like what I see. Keep in mind, I am 56 years old and have been going to rock concerts since I'm 14. Probably will go until I can't physically make it to them anymore. I'm sure this band will not disappoint!
Must have been a great show!

Nothing is forever. From an adult in 2015.

Found their first CD in my case today and by golly was it amazing to listen to again! LOVED them then, LOVE them now! Great music!

Jaindi Skyy ...you misspelt 1 word...but other than that ...awesome

I love this song because it shows how life truly screws with people, and that it's not our fault sometimes, that we are innocent.

I truly like Our Lady Peace and I can’t even think about getting a job by joining a band in place where You don’t belong.
This song never fails to make me emotional.
This song brings back happy memories for me of my sons and I rocking out when they were younger. How time flies! ✨🙂
I was homeless , jobless , vehicles s, phone was cut then starved and didn’t have a clue what to do eh ! Thankfully for music like this … gave me hope and confidence . I’m some thankful to get outve the shelter ! 🙏
Sitting here in April 2020, thinking back of the real music of history. This song anyways pops in to my head. The powerful meaning lyrics. True strong structure that holds the test of time. This is what the worlds needs again. True passion, True dedication to the music, Not what we have today. :(
History of music? like 3,300 BC? or is your history start around oh I don't know 1963?? I was also keen to learn there was a "true" song structure. Had been unaware of all those fakes until now.
Yeah this song holds up. Much of the 1998- 2006 stuff doesn’t.
i STILL love this song. somehow it never gets old for me.
Who else remembers when pop stations played this?
Now all they play there is post melone and other crap like that. Rock is the way to go!
We need a time machine...this generation is fucked up
Seriously about the only new-radio-music band since the turn of millennium that aint complete shit is "the killers" man
That's because you listen to the wrong station. There's GOOD music. Just look for it.
I have a station that plays this song all the time. Probably at least 5 times a month. Canadian station 97.7 htz fm
