    "Fashion" is fickle. Don't be "fashionable." Have some style. "Timeless Style" focuses on iconic pieces that have stood the test of time. This series is focused mostly on menswear, but some of these items are unisex as well.
    This episode: The ‪@LEVIS‬ "Trucker Jacket." Levi's have been making the jean jacket for well over 100 years, and it's hard to imagine a more quintessentially American article of clothing.

    I wear my denim jacket over my denim vest with my denim jeans. Now I just need a denim tie.

    Oh, my. The very first part-time job I had was in 1969 selling men's clothing, at a local store, for 85¢/hr. Yes, you read that correctly! Back then, Levi's clothing was a "Fair-traded item," which meant that if Levi's caught you selling for less, you lost the line. The jacket sold for the same price as the unwashed straight-leg jeans: $5.50. We sold then all day long, as did The Workingman's Store across the street. Ah, only in America! Great video.

      $5.50. About 47 bucks with inflation. They're a hundred now!

    • @tombrown1898
      @tombrown1898 Год назад

      @@stuffandthingsyoutube Bradley, that's intriguing, especially when straight inflation accounts for only half the current retail price. That curiosity obtains in almost all fields. But here's something that speaks volumes. Using your inflation multiplier, my 85¢/hr wage works out to $7.26, dead-nuts on the federal minimum wage. Here's the kicker: when I was making 85¢/hr, the federal minimum wage was $1.25. The loophole in 1969 was that a small employer could pay an unemancipated minor whatever they chose to.

    Always appreciate the extra work that goes into the TS series, really enjoyed that! I feel like I get a lot out of these men's classic style history lessons. You're educating those of us who have no style really and for that, I thank you.

    Best thing we used to do is get an artist to airbrush a NY style graffiti piece (if that was your thing) or your favorite bands album cover on the back ,cut the sleeves and that was a huge 80’s-early 90’s trend…I had quite a few😅

    I don't want comments was just looking through utube but I believe I have this jacket size small vintage premium line type 3. Granted I found it on sale with irregular tags I found why it was irregular because of one stain in the arm cup but hey it was on sale and they mistook it for a regular premium but it wasn't a regular it was a vintage even have the vintage tags good find😅 I bought a black on too though that just a regular premium. I cleaned up the jacket stain was very minimal no one would even notice it, I also cleaned the irregular tag.

    I really enjoy these timeless style videos (you still have me looking for a used Perfecto)... I have two of these jackets in black but turned them into battle jackets for metal shows. Durable enough that they'll hold up to a lot of abuse, easy enough to hand sew patches on. Still need another just to keep plain and wear as intended.

    Personally I prefer the Sherpa version because I wear these in winter mainly. But the classic version is more timeless and a bit less rednecky.

    In the 70's the Type III jackets didn't have the "hand pockets" and they were shorter, more like a Jacket should be.

    I just bought the regular non premium version from Levi’s for $50 on sale when it’s normally $90. I heard it’s not as fitted as the premium version. Your thoughts?

  • @TheIronWord
    @TheIronWord Год назад

    I still have one, i wear a zipper hoodie under it during the cooler winter months, during the 80's it's all i wore in the winter all through high school. paper routes etc....when one gets to the point that it's falling apart i cut off the sleeves and start adding patches. I have one that i've had since 1984 and it looks like it's been on tour with the misfits, i get so many compliments on it, people want to know where is bought it...i just laugh...and i have never ever heard it called a trucker jacket, i just call it a "jean jacket'.

    • @stuffandthingsyoutube
      @stuffandthingsyoutube  Год назад

      At the moment, it seems like the Premium version is the only one offered in the classic cut and standard colors. Typically, the Premium line has better fabric and stitching and a leather patch.
