• Why Japanese Denim Is ...
Trying to understand the point of this video other than to show that you’re knowledgeable about an esoteric topic. If you want to appeal to a wider audience, it would be helpful to provide more context or motivation behind these arcane details. I feel like I wasted my time learning about vintage Levi’s, as you’ve done nothing to disabuse me of the notion that there is nothing particularly special about them.
And as a lawyer, I do find legal dramas cringe, but I wouldn’t do what you did here, because I’d be talking above my audience, and no one would find it entertaining or even informative. This is the case here.
nah boy speak for yourself I find this video very entertaining and informative, maybe that lawyer job isnt soo good for your mental health considering how negative you come off as
I found it entertaining. I didn't feel talked down to. Your point no longer stands.
LMAO at someone taking the time to watch the video and write that comment. "I don't even care bro" lolllllll
Then you should waste more time learning about It of you still not convinced
such miserable existence
Astrology daughter or vintage denim son
I liked this video. Now I can watch the Bear with my wife and pretend like I know everything about vintage clothing. Thanks homie
0:28 lol that's how i feel whenever skateboarding pops up in regular media or an ad. Anyway good vid, I enjoyed this look into the denim subculture
Something I missed in the video, the value of Vintage 501s is always changing and WWII era and earlier can go for well above $50 000 depending on the history involved. www.cnn.com/style/article/19th-century-levis-jeans-intl-scli/index.html
Heddels (which I mispronounced) is a great resource but is not a single source of truth, to know the value of vintage jeans you'll likely have to reference the most recent official auctions and more than just ebay/etsy etc, something with an actual appraiser involved.
also you're not likely to find WWII era jeans on ebay, but I digress
when i first saw this scene, i was excited to hear terms like selvedge or big E being used in conversation but I am learning that i'm actually not a denim nerd by comparison lol. great video!
Haa!
I did shout "Type 3's didn't have pleats" at the telly when this came on!
Great stuff, mate!
I feel you. I’m a software guy and seeing computer stuff on screen is tough sometimes with all the errors. Thanks for the fascinating info on denim in The Bear.
When she hands him the jacket isn't that a flannelled lined type 3? isn't that 80's?
Entirely possible that it's 80's, that would be an interesting question for whoever sourced the prop. Personally I couldn't tell from how little of the jacket is seen, and I didn't want to make an assumption and potential misinform anyone!
You should give “How to make it in America” a watch. They do a better job on explaining the fashion industry and denim while also having that grit in tone
WHAT ABOUT A PAIR OF WHITE LEVIS, DOES HAVE THE RED TAG ON POCKET, FOR ME IVE NEVER SEEN WHITE LEVIS OTHER THAN MINE, I USE TO WEAR NOTHING BUT LEVI I THINK THEY WERE 501S OR 505S MENS FIT WAS NICE, AND THE DETAILS YOUR TALKING ABOUT THEY MAY NOT HAVE HAD PERMISSION TO USE THAT PARTICULAR LEVI FOR THIER STORY, DO YOU THINK FOR A MOVIE THEY ARE REAL LEVIS ANYWAY??? JUST A THOUGHT
I thought the copper referred to the ‘copper’ rivets.
That's what they were going for, but they mention the paint before they mention the rivets. Dialogue order is awkward, maybe it got mixed around during the edit? Hard to say for sure.
Great video. I learned about denim and knives. Thnx
Hello i've rently been to Osaka and discovered your videos, I want to learn more about denim/levis through books.
Do you have any to recommend ?
Thank's !
Ooh interesting question, Ametora by W. David Marx and Worn by Sofi Thanhauser are fantastic, neither are entirely about denim though, but have a lot of interesting history. There's also the denim dedicated website Heddels, which while a lot of their recent stuff is behind a paywall and not as good as their older stuff in my opinion, is still great. Their article on dating vintage Levis is a great resource that I often end up referencing. Hope that helps!
Thank's a lot it will definitly help a lot, Have a great day ! @@distressedtailor
absolute gem of a video
People who are passionate about denim interesting
Could you tell me where I could buy the trucker jacket with the stripe on the arm
It’s by a Japanese brand called momotaro,
Can confirm, it is a momotaro jacket.
Interesting topic
Love your facts on Levi but what's up with the swipe or Chicago?
Sorry what do you mean by "the swipe or Chicago"?
what shirt are you wearing?
It's a Momotaro shirt, it's got two giant pockets on the front, I think they called it a "Jail Shirt" or something
May i ask why it used pleated on jacket?
So you can cut the pleats and let out the jacket so you have more room, then in warmer weather you can re-stitch it when you don’t need so many layers underneath.
