Any denim that is 💯 cotton will shrink at least one or more inches, perhaps if the denim is pre-shrunk or Sanforized will not shrink but anything else will, also depending what temperatures you’re using in the water or if you dried on a dryer machine or even if you hand dry on the sun, denim is cotton and it will shrink, Perhaps if the denim has nylon in their fabric will not shrink as much, shrunk denim not. In any case buy jeans or jackets your size bigger to avoid this situation, best wishes and enjoy
hello, good video, can you make a video for Edwin Unwashed type 2 selvedge jacket, i recently buy XL, it will come i couple days, it will be my first type 2 jacket, maybe you can comparation levis type 2 and edwin type 2, thank you.
I’m considering buying this jacket. I usually wear a size M (btw I’m 190cm tall and weigh 76kg). Would you recommend to size up (which means buying the size L) and the soaking will do the rest?
Hi, seven months after you published the video, I want to ask you weather you already washed the size L model which you also kept? If you washed it, how does it fit now?
@@UrbanLadUKok, the reason why I am asking is, because I had the chance to get a size L model for a sensational price. I am 188 cm and 84 kgs. It fits just a little bit too big. But if I take the measurements of your soaked XL model, this would still be larger than a raw model L. As I can’t get an XL size anyway I will stay with the L size and hope that it shrinks just a little bit.
@@AxelJanz@AxelJanz , only wash it by hand on tap water, Woolite, and you are going to be safe. My weight is 94 kg and fits perfectly, on you going to be the right size
Around 40 degrees Celsius is the best. Usually, the hot tap water is around 38 / 40, which is the maximum. What I do is hot tap water and ad every 10 min hot water from the kettle to maintain the temp
@@UrbanLadUK thanks Man, I believe 30 minutes of soaking will be enough, ain’t it? Pls posting more videos regarding denim jeans care and other related stuffs.
What a nice test right there mate. Can you please help me a little too about my hesitation? I am 180cm guy with about 78-80kg with 40-41 inch chest usually wearing M. Would you recommend me getting M size and washing it carefully like I wash my wool clothes to avoid shrinkage or getting and L and putting it to 40 or 60 degrees in the washing machine? Thanks in advance and keep up the good work. Subscribed!
All the way buy L and you can do first soaking in warm water to check how much shrinks if enough for you thats it, If not proceed with washing machine 40 degrees low spin or non spin. I belive that going to work for you, dont be agresive don´t forget that the sleeves shrink too and can became a tad short.
@@UrbanLadUK Thank you very much for the reply. I thought the same but my concern about this is even I get my fit-like-a-glove fit by soaking and washing, isn't there a possibility for stretching back close to previous size after some wearing and becoming baggy again? What do you think? I've got zero experience with shrink-to-fit denim, only with wool clothes which I machine wash carefully to avoid shrinkage, but I really want to get into this and get one of these jackets. Thank you very much again!
@@hristostefanov4009 Hi, what size did you end up getting? I'm in a very similar position -- I'm 178cm, 80kg and 40-42 inch chest and I usually wear size M. I'm unsure whether I should get M and wash it cold for minimal shrinkage, or get L and soak it in hot water. Also worried about the stretching. Any help would be appreciated!
@@aliqadir51 Hello. First I got the M size because I had zero experience with STF denim and I didn't believe it will shrink a lot and it fitted me very well before soaking, but after the first soak in lukewarm water and a little agitation it shrank a little more than I anticipated and I had to manually expand it while wet. I wear it a lot and it is OK with a tee underneath, a good snug fit. After that I got a size L, first I gave it a light soak with cold water, it shrank a little and later I gave it another soak with warm water and a little agitation and it shrank just perfectly! Very good fit on the shoulders, chest and perfect length. Now the jacket size L is the size of the M before the shrinking (or just a little below it) and it fits awesome. So I suggest you get the size L and give it a proper soak with warm water and a little agitation, then hang dry and you should be fine. If the shrinkage is not enough, you can repeat and control it with the water temperature and the amount of agitation you apply. I recommend to never wash it with a washing machine. I hope that helps. Cheers!
@@hristostefanov4009 Thank you so much for the response! Is the L not stretching out and becoming baggy then? Also why do you recommend to never wash it in the washing machine? Even with no/low spin?
Considering how small size changes can alter volume, the shrinkage is significant! Thank you!
Man, these type II jackets are starting to grow on me, may need to pull the trigger and get one!
They are nice and stand out in the crowd! You can buy it on Bears Japan clothing website or Live’s, Hinoya too but it is expensive

Hi Diego, is the fitting "relaxed" or standard for this jacket?
