The collar corner flips up because it’s one piece and wrapped around the neck so the twill weave goes in a different direction. So, it’s the weave and drape of the fabric.
Michael, this review inspired me to buy this jacket a year ago. It's breaking in great-- I love it. I wanna see an update on how your Type II is looking!
Yeah, I love this jacket! It’s my all time favourite (waiting for an Iron Heart Type III from Self Edge atm, so we’ll see after that...). I actually don’t mind the lack of hand warmer pockets. I use my left hand to place and access stuff in my right pocket and vice versa. Oh, and mine has the same thing with the pocket flaps as yours. Great value for money compared to a lot of brands, and the layering possibilities with the roomy fit is awesome (especially here in Norway). It looks great with just a t-shirt and great with t-shirt->flannel->fleece under it. That increases the amount of times I can wear it, and that further adds to the value. Thanks for a great video!
DUDE... love your videos. You're funny as hell and knowledgable. Just got a bit obsessed with denim this past month. Got my first raw denim: Tellason's Cone Mills denim jacket. Can't wait to wear it !
I just got this jacket myself now. I like it, but its the wrong size, i got it too big, that sucks, i gonna return it, hopefully i can get the right size
Oh man, returned the wrong size now, but have to wait for the store to recieve the right size. Might be 3 weeks to finally get this jacket. Might be my katharsis then
Washed mine a couple times now and gave it a quick iron after. I hated the pockets and collar standing up and I think it looks a lot sharper after ironing.
It's had warmers short of perfection. I'm eyeing up my type II now. I'm thinking Momotaro (is that how you spell it) with battle stripes and handwarmers, just to make it lairy.
I saw that and LOVE IT! I’m hoping for another blue owl x Momo collab though. I stupidly sold a gorgeous double indigo stealth striped jacket and I regret it everyday!
No hand pockets are probably a bit of a shock if you’re used them but I think it’s a cleaner sharper look honestly. I’m surprise there are no crying comments about the hot wash-dryer thing but it definitely fits better.
Past Micheal this is current Antonio which in this video's time of upload is future Antonio, anyway I bought the black version of that exact jacket and I can't wait to have it in hand!!!
Hey, at 2:20 where you said you soaked the jacket to fit you better; what exactly did you mean by that? I have a baggie-ish denim jacket that I would like to be more fitted on me so I would like to use the method you did. Sorry about commenting on such an old video btw! Thanks.
I’ve not noticed significant degradation of cotton stitching including on my 80s type iii with hand warmers that I wore mostly while driving a truck to pay my way through school. Don’t even recall it being called a trucker then. Just a jeans jacket and Levi’s jacket.
I have personal issue with these type 2 jackets that don't have pockets directly over my nipples are don't include pockets to shove my hands into. It's a loose/loose, times two.
Funny thing is ...raw denim used to be what you got when you went to the store. I remember my jeans were stiff as a board when my Mom would buy me a new pair. Now you pay a premium ($265 ) for a jean jacket. Funny how they are selling these now for top dollar. Hopefully there are less chemicals used on production. That would be interesting to discuss in a video. Still a very good video with good content.
I know you haven't tried the tcb type 2 jacket, but how do you think that compares to this sugar cane type 2? Looking for a another type 2 in a lighter weight and more of a faithful reproduction than my oni 20oz secret denim type 2
Do the pins on the pocket damage the denim ? will that leave a hole? I think pins look cool but curious on thoughts on longevity / long term damage because of the pins
Good question! Honestly not really, denim is a bunch of threads woven together so it’s not like leather where you puncture it and it’s there forever. If i take the pins out you can see where they were a tiny bit but when i washed this (pins out) I couldn’t find where I had them prior.
Would your size choice be different if you did one wash? You said this was completely unwashed? Thought the self edge sugar canes are one wash but unsanforized
Love the effort you put into these vids. The community of raw denim content creators are scarce so I appreciate it.
Of course! I love making the vids

Passion is something I value. And that’s what I see here!!!
Hey thanks!!
The fact that this was recorded on a baseball field just really pulls it round
Right? Worked out well

Check out my jacket collection vid, I show it there!
In Japan, Levi's jackets are trending in big size. The Levi's S506XXE released on October 10th is really cool.
I’ll check it out!
Beautiful jacket! I've been loving your content since that 501 shrink to fit video, thanks for making denim talk so interesting fam
Hey thanks!!
The fit is much better after that hot wash/dry. Looks great!
Great you washed and dried it hot. That is the first thing I do with any denim, to "get the shrink out".

Thank you! Also I’m dying to get an IH jacket!
I listen to you when I work - I find it very relaxing...you keep me company when I work from home. That's nice isn't it?
I watched this video a dozen times the recent weeks. I definitly gonna get this jacket

I really enjoy your video's man, keep up the great work! Can't wait for more content.
Thanks my friend!!
You deserve more followers. Would love to see a follow up on the Blunnies.
One is coming!
You do a video on how to soak the denim jacket.
Looks like a better fit after you washed it!
Just ordered my 3rd Type 2... I need this wash to complete my collection.
yeah I agree!
This jacket fit looks the best for a type 2

@@GabobStrulli what size did you get? And how tall are you?
@@Politicalpimp7 At first, I got the size 42, and i am 1,78m and 78kg.
Now I went for the orslow type 2 and got size 3
A review of resolute 710 jeans be cool
🤔...So where was this reproduction jacket made at...❓ In the USA, or no...❓
I want hemp jacket 😊
Your jacket and jeans are so cool.

Agreed!

I’ll show it soon!
Its my birthday soon, just one more month, i get that jacket then
Hand warmer pockets are the shit tho fr. I was loving it till then lol. Does it have inner pockets at least?
I have horrible news, no it does not
Hi Iron Snail, you might want to check out Momotaro’s 15th anniversary denim jacket on Okayama Denim. It is a type 2 with hand pockets ;)
I saw that and LOVE IT! I’m hoping for another blue owl x Momo collab though. I stupidly sold a gorgeous double indigo stealth striped jacket and I regret it everyday!

I love the old michael

Oh why hello Past Antonio! I hope it’s amazing!
@@TheIronSnail update got the "right" size and it felt small. So I returned it, hope my second jackets fits better!
Type II is my favorite. Very cool review.
Thanks!!!
Would you recommend going true to size in a unsanforized jacket like you did?

Have you tried wetting the collar and trying to flatten it in the corner?
I actually did!! Not too much and i probably could have done more but i put a pin on the collar anyway and that fixed it
That is a nice looking jacket. It's dope asf
Cool jacket and a good review
Please get an iron heart type 3 14oz and compare both. Which do you think is better?

Nipple protecting pockets = must. Why else wear the jacket!
Jacket looks dope after wash. Have you been reading that 'Sugar Cane philosophy bla' from their website?
I haven’t actually! Can you link me?
@@TheIronSnail I was joking. The speech just seemed bit more monotone and fluid - like reading sth. out. Here you go man: www.sugarcanejeans.co.uk/

Great review! That’s a nice jacket! 👖
Thinkin about getting this one and ur vid convinced me, thanks!
Jeremy Panjaitan of course! Enjoy!!

I only have a type 1 Levi's jacket. But it was free. Nothing to crazy
Love your videos, you need more subscribers.

Thanks for this video. I'll buy one as soon as I lose some weight. appreciate!
Looking forward to hearing about it!
my favorite denim jacket.
I love your video, it’s amazing !
Hey thanks!!
Just noticed my jacket doesn't have bartacks on the sleeves, just the rivets. How's your jacket looking these days?
is there a brand which offers a type 2 jacket with handpockets?
I’m glad I came across your channel! Neat niche and great videos!
I know you haven't tried the tcb type 2 jacket, but how do you think that compares to this sugar cane type 2? Looking for a another type 2 in a lighter weight and more of a faithful reproduction than my oni 20oz secret denim type 2
TCB is AMAZING but slim! I love their fit though from what I’ve seen

How many wears or how long after did you wash it?
I think about a year!
what size you go for and measurements ?great vid
Thanks! I went for a size 38 and I’m 5’9” and 155lbs
Would your size choice be different if you did one wash? You said this was completely unwashed? Thought the self edge sugar canes are one wash but unsanforized
Check out the size at the end after I washed!! I think I may have gone up to a 40 but it’s not a deal breaker at a 38
❤😊
Best part 08:01 LoL
