Been watching since the channel was new. Was happy 2 c a guy still working on rigs. This channel got me off Xanax. I quit using Xanax and needed something to calm me down during a anxiety attack. I was having a panic attack 1 day and poped on an ol vice grips episode and was laughing in under a min. You impact many lives Derek thank you sir.
I too, am off my bipolar medication because of VGG
"I'm gonna completely rebuild that."
Every time. It gets me every single time.
Lost the receipt though.... 🤣
Tsst tssst 👍👍🤣
That's my plans with the 300 kagillion projects
no need to rust proof.
Tssss 🤙🏼
These big episodes must be a huge pain to edit so I figured I’d take a second to say how much I appreciate them also they go right up on the big tv
Anyone else notice the beer bottle opener on the captains side rear bumper? Lmao!!! That's American engineering at its finest right there.
He doesn’t need a bottle opener.
Bro not even going to lie it took me a second to figure out what it was I had to literally put my phone to my face when I was like that's some hillbilly ingenuity there seems like the previous owner that put it on there just had zero fs to give
@willywonka3409 I use a lighter if I don't have a bottle opener but you're right, you don't need a bottle opener for black velvet lol
L O L factree
I bleve that's a cold snack opener fella.
A whole hour episode. Ain’t nothing better. I love that I can get the same satisfaction out of watching my favorite RUclips fella wrench when I can’t afford to wrench on something of my own.
Luckily I have a couple I’m working on right now, but I would rather watch Derrik lol 😂
Thanks, about the same here,,,,,,
@@jessecordell1313 it’s always better sometimes just to watch someone else… lol
Agreed
Id watch 2 hours with no problem
I love how calm and collected he is at all times. I need to adopt that mentality in my own life.
To be fair, he ALMOST got a little antsy while chastising those who cut up the square body dashes to fit "modern" radios.
Best of both worlds a feller can get with comedy and car restoration 😂
I just want to say I love the content of this channel. Started watching with my son last summer, probably watched every video 2.5, maybe 3 times. Also my dad enjoys them just as much. Entertainment for three generations of my Canadian family.
That bright blue carpet actually gives off a sort of luminous effect, brightening the interior. Brightens the doors, too. I like it! It's a really cool contrast with the basic blue of the truck.
I dig it.
Agreed

I still can't believe this gem was rescued from a scrapyard, unbelievable 🤦♂️ I love that blue, and those blue dash lights compliment it perfectly, they'll look great at night, what a rig 💙
ugliest damn color of blue carpet
Is there another video of the rescue?
@@carolinacatsfish497 it matches the blue gauges color!
This truck is absolutely amazing! Looks so cool!! Nice job!
This is the second video ive watched on this channel ever and this episode had me laughing so hard that I'm pretty sure ill watch until you quit. Thanks sir.
After telling my wife about your videos she asked to watch one with me, now she’s as hooked as I am lol. Videos are great, love the content!
She's a keeper!!
Thank-you VGG for providing such wholesome entertainment for the entire family to enjoy. We love it !!
Hey Derrick just throw some dirt on that carpet so it doesn't blind you when you get in the truck first thing in the morning. Love your videos your hilarious
I don't avoid 'doesn't run' ads so much any more thanks to your tutelage. There's some real go-to-town potential out there.
I appreciate how you talk about saving money in your videos. You make it realistic and enjoyable to watch
Derek, one thing you could've done with that neon beer sign blue carpeting would be to buy a $4 bottle of Rit Dye and put that carpet in a tote of water and dye mix and it comes out whatever color you buy. Pretty neat option, something to keep in mind and it's so simple. I love this truck!
That blue though!!!! LMAO - It's RIGHT UP IN YOUR TEETH!!!
@@troysgarage Well, it's bowling alley blue.
Those dials are legit and the supplier programming them to show VGG on start up was a really classy touch.
I was watching this episode at the gym….. and when he put in the carpet!!!!! I’m telling you I laughed so loud that everyone started looking back at me while I’m on the elliptical machine!!!! And I continue to laugh for a while longer long enough that everyone could have a second look!!!!! Thank you, Derek for brightening up my day with neon blue carpet that I am 100% positive glows in the dark! Love you man!!!
DONT CUT OUT THE DASH in first 4 minutes gave me so much laughter, thanks for sharing and what you do. I love Tennessee too 🏡
I love those old GMC pickups. I especially love the step-sides. Very nice looking additions you made to this one Derek!!!! Cheers bro!!!!
T-Roy! Glad to see you on this channel! I’ve watched your stuff for a while!!
My buddy in high school had a 77' 3/4 ton 2wd stepside. Had 16.5x10 slot mags and 31' BFG A/T's. We took that truck in places no 2wd should go, We hauled our dirtbikes all over the place with that truck and had a blast with it... good times
@@dadofsevendoesitall9341 I love watching Derek do miracles with vehicles. It gets my mind off of food for a while and Derek is funny! LOL
Boy it’s hard to believe someone would send a truck like this to the scrap yard, she’s a true survivor square body. Beautiful truck man, I absolutely love your channel
"Well MaGoo, you've done it again"
I think this is one of your best. Starting from a junk yard rescue, complete with fork lift scars, to a very nice road worthy pick'em truck.
I like how you'll probably beat the hell out of this truck, but still took the time to do it up nice and respect it. Big props.
This is an absolute gorgeous truck. A fella and his felette have dreams about building something this nice. One day.
This is a very nice truck. I love the color, and "I'll be Dipped"! What a great "go to town" truck and many other duties... Thanks for sharing.
Nice job. It reminds me of the truck on the TV series "The Fall Guy" that Lee Majors used to drive as Colt Seavers who was a bounty hunter. Seavers's truck was a Rounded-Line 1981 GMC K-2500 Wideside with the Sierra Grande equipment level package. Thanks for the upgrade demostration.
I’m impressed with the bottle opener on the bumper. A true going to town rig
I saw that too!
And oh yeah, nice work Derrick!
Caught that right away 😂😂
On the seat, find a big section of used denim, stuff it through the hole and spread it out over the foam, then hand stitch it to the rest o the cover - that will save the foam from getting ground away from getting in and out of the truck. :)
That would definitely bring it right back around.
how about glue down the old denim
how about a Blue blanket seat cover?
My great granddaughter wants a old pickup truck. I want to teach her by watching you and me showing her what she does not understand I'm handicap but with your help we will teach her how.
Sweet
That vice grip garage scroll is the coolest thing anybody has ever seen in life
Derek, you are by far one of the best youtubers. Love the 4 wheel drive content. Between what you choose for projects, the way you walk us through them (informative and hilarious), and your consistent weekly uploads is why i think a lot of us love your channel.
Sorry to hear what happened Derek. Hope everything is ok. Love your channel
What happened?

Mate, your mannerisms and quick wit makes you a cut about the rest! not many youtubers I'll happily sit and watch an hour long video of. Keep em coming
This really is very good content. This guy is a national treasure.
Needed this today, man has the universe been givin a guy a hard time. Love your content brother thank you for your videos they help more than you may realize keep up the great work Derek.
Shits going to hell in a hand basket huh? We are all feeling the same and live in the USA. Can you believe it? 2018-19 Booming Economy n things were going so well. Keep fighting James. Stand up to the universe. This is Your Country Brother.
Amen, feller!
I actually like that Electric Blue carpet / Electric Blue gauges combo. Granted, an electric blue dash cover might be too much... lol. Keep up the great work.
I think he actually wanted the electric blue carpet anyway. It does go well with the lighted electrodigical components.
im mean ya if a guys a secret elton john fan sure that colors fine!
@@justaguyinagaragewithasign3244 Hey, that feller made some _fine_ music, back in the day. Don't matter that he's fruitier than a bad gift basket.
You helped me through a really tough time. ..because you make me laugh..I so appreciate that in you...Whoever raised you Mr. Beri did a fine job... and, you're doing a fine job with your boys. You have been so blessed... so blessed...pause once in a while to thank God for your so many blessings.. and stay humble it looks good on you.
Man them Guages are gorgeous love how clean the setup is and they look so clean nice And great work derek @17:52 @Vice Grip Garage
I love your channel and your personality. You have me laughing like a 2-year-old half the time. Your content is just amazing!!!!
They call that electric blue because you're shocked when you see it. It matches the dash and radio lights really well! That is a nice looking truck...well done! 👍😎
I was thinking the same
That blue carpet is really stylish as well as practical.
She's got nice slippers now and she stands real nice on em!
Did a great job there, Der! :)
Thanks for the couple of real-life LOL's with the antics. I needed that!
Anyone else notice the accessory item on the end of the driver side rear bumper, handy bottle opener. Should come stock with every truck.
Great show, thanks for sharing
I freakin love this channel. Derrick and is humor gets me every damn time
I would've loved to have that kit on my old '78 Chevy truck I used to have! Really cool setup. Really cool truck derrick! U can't beat an old Chevy or GMC truck!
This is the type of person I wish was my shop teacher at my school. Love what you do , Keep up the good work. !
Wow. That color is crazy.
Years ago at work, we got to choose the color of our new company cars. One guy chose medium blue. When it showed up it was Smurf blue. He was razzed endlessly.
I just love spending time with you every week Derek. Love watching you wrench on cars and learning stuff along the way. Your awesome and I thank you. Have a good weekend my friend and God Bless.
Looking good, I really enjoy watching these walk through videos. Thanks for all your hard work
I had an older 4x4 truck many years ago…it had those same aluminum slotted mag wheels. It’s my favorite look on a truck! This sure brings back memories…and boy do I want that truck back again!
Love the shows! Keep them coming, and thank you! I found your channel through a Model A group that linked to your Model A journey across the states (I still have the A) - best link I’ve come across in quite a while, and now I’m hooked!
Hey, Derek. This was a beautiful example of what you do best. Make it functional, then dress it up a little bit. A fella is not talking about perfection here - what you wanted was a nice dependable rig to drive and use and not break down. Beautiful balance of form and function demonstrated by you. I love the way you work logically and seamlessly to achieve your goals -- you are teaching us that it can be done without spending an obscene amount of money. What I see in you is respect -- respect for your cars, your work ethic, and your family. And you do it all without swearing or putting anyone down. We, as students, are learning how to be a better human being from you -- thank you, sir. We ALL appreciate what you do !! Keep on showing your true self -- we love it !!
You should hear him at the bar!😂
Drummer exactly what you said. Except add in respect for country and those that risk their lives for it.
Couldn’t have said it better myself! He’s awesome
Derek, you NEVER fail to put out high quality content!!! I've gone back to the very beginning (again for the 4th time) and watched the channel evolve as time went by. Not even lying, this is the only channel that I've done this with because the wholesome family values you have, mixed with education, solid one liners and humor, the stories behind the rigs and just bringing us all along for the ride with your family and allowing us to feel like a part of said family. As for the recent issues at your homestead, my faith in humanity has hit absolute ROCK BOTTOM. You definitely took it in stride and like they always say, you can't keep a good man down. Thank you for doing what you do.
I thought I was the only one who touched up the guage bezel with the silver sharpie! Hilarious, as you were standing there with the craft paint I was thinking... wish I could tell him about my silver sharpie trick
That is a nice Truck mate. The colour is perfect for it. It looks amazing with chrome rims and bigger tyres with white letters. Definitely a good daily driver. I'd definitely make this my personal vehicle.
"2 bolts holding this thing in" "I probably installed that" lol 5:40
That’s a powerful bright blue right there, and I ain’t kiddin’ ya, neither.
Still, it’s about a 96.82368543% improvement on the old rig. Perfect.
You said it man......IIIIIIII like it!
One of THE best episodes. Really funny, especially mounting that receiver hitch. Using the roto-rooter to make the holes line up... Yep!
Really Appreciate all of your tips especially on the way you do the carpet
Thanx for sharing this with us
Have a Great Day 👍
This is got to be my favorite style of Chevy & GMC Trucks!
Also that Blue is sweet!
I sit here watching VGG and laugh. It's always a good time to listen to the back stories on the rigs, and follow what they become. I'm not sure if you've named this truck yet Derek, but Electric Blue now seems fitting. Great show!
Nice work. I like the upgrades and the usefulness. If you have projects or a house or both, you need a truck. This one looks like a fun and solid worker.
I love this truck! glad you gave 'er some love again and plan to keep it in use.
I love how everyone has adopted Derek's way of communicating lol, great episode!
My kids are constantly asking me "what did you say" as were working on stuff. My wife even caught me saying electrodigcal once and I had to explain. Lol
That's going to happen after watching videos about 164001 times
What I love about Derek is that he shows the perfect mix of doing work on camera, and showing us some work he did off camera. Keep it up Derek!
I picked up a barn find about 2 years ago. After watching your show you have motivated me to get the thing running. It’s an F350 with a flat bed. That was rotted away so building a new bed and converting to a dump bed. It has the 390 big block. Exhaust is busted so hung to hang some headers in there. If I can get the bolts out. It’s been a long time since I did the mechanic thing. 40 years. Getting into it. Thanks for all the videos.
That truck looks amazing. I just love the work you do to cars.
Really enjoyed this video, brought back so many memories. My dad had the exact truck when I was a kid, same color, same wheels. He passed away a few years back, wish I could watch your videos with him I know he’d love them. You have the same eye for what looks good and how a old Chevy should look as he did and he passed on to me…Definitely the perfect rig you got there, looking forward to more videos of it
I dont think it was this EXACT color, cause this doesnt look stock. Probably was the color.of the dash, little lighter blue.
My dads wasn’t factory color actually painted with metal flake so yeah probably not exact color…but it was the same shade, maybe I shouldn’t have used “exact” lol
@@bullfrog1807 oh nice! I have my dads ole 79 sierra grande still. Been in my life since I was 1 year old. It was the same blue as dereks here (the dash original blue) but i painted it flat black of course years ago when i was 18-20 or whatever. Lovely truck.
@@umakemerandy3669 Awesome….I didn’t get my dads 4x4 but I have is old 72 c10 short bed fleet side. My dad painted it flat black as well, if you ever re-spray your truck look into a product called “hot rod flatz” they make a really dark colored flat black that really makes a flat paint look legit
That carpet debacle happened to me once on a 73 Chevy, and believe it or not I rattlecanned that ugly carpet to a much more suitable color! Did not attempt it in one coat; laid it out on the ground and sprayed several mist coats until it was perfect. Never thought it would work, but it did! Since the seat and the floor mats covered most of the carpet, there wasn’t much painted area showing in the end. Give it a whirl if you get tired of the “electricity”.
Rattle canned more carpets than I care to remember. Like you say, multiple light coats are the best way
I lightly rattlecanned the custom black faded old t-shirt stuffed denim 2x6 skillsaw carved lumber seat on my '76 Honda TL125 and It worked so good I am going to do it again next fall.
Took a guy quite a few days to watch this because a guy is workin 13.5 hour days right now. The whole time you were adding those decals I was thinkn, man I'd put the tips of those pin stripes right on the body line, but when I saw it done I saw your reasoning. Looks great. Can't wait for the next. Keep wrenchin, makes a guy like me keep wrenchin too.
The drum break rebuild kit is probably one of my favorite things now
Hey Derek try a deflated basketball shove it in there and use the inflation kit from your truck with the little needle then reinflate it and it will pop out I tried that with my truck it works beautifully! A cheap ball Is less than $10
Got all choked up and teary eyed looking at that masterpiece. If I could get a truck like that, life would be good!
Love this truck! Saw one just like it at a car show this weekend. There was actually 2 one blue and one yellow.
Love everything you guys do and got my going to town merch today looks amazing thank you
Thank you for doing this. Seriously, thank you for doing this. Seeing a good old square body with a shop sticker on it can surely help take those that remember a little simpler time, back a bit. Granted I'm on the tail end of that time...but being from a REALLY small town this just has that small town feel to it. Your videos are always great. This one just sent a guy for a long, slow, stroll down memory lane. Outstanding stuff.
Love the square bodies! You did an awesome job on the interior, just don't stare at the floor! The instrumentation is beautiful. And I noticed it has the bottle opener option on the rear bumper! Huge bonus! Keep up the good work. God bless your whole family.
I missed the bottle opener and had to go back and look see. It's at 40:23
I laughed so damn hard at your drum rebuilding kit!! I’ve bought a few used cars with hail damage like that too lol!
That blue carpet actually looks pretty good
I actually like that two tone blue interior especially on the doors. The carpet picks up the blue guages. Great job
Yea but the seat ruins it seat needs to be blue too
She might have some scratches and a few dents, but thats still a damn good looking truck with the wheel and tire package!
You used a rubber mallet without calling it the ol "Tanya Harding." Man you gotta bring that back. It never gets old!
When installing shifter boots, I wad up some fiberglass insulation and stuff it inside the boot. You would be amazed how much noise it eliminates, and it might cut down on heat/cold. It takes 30 seconds and makes a big difference
That is a fine looking machine. I think the special "Electric Blue" carpet, fits right in when you have the lights and radio on, because when those light up they are the same color. I was a little sad to see that you didn't stretch some of that vinyl looking leather over the dash board. Since you had it out, gluing down some half inch foam and stretching the vinyl over would have made it look way more newerish. Lots of fun in this episode and can't wait to see more.
Derek it's your "well help me understand's" that keep me laughing and watching much love to you and the family, thanks for the great content.
The temp sensor install fail at 11:30 pure gold 😂
Bigger tires definitely look better to me On this truck love it Derek @Vice Grip Garage
Looks great Derek, those gauges are so nice! Maybe toss a blue cover over the seat and your set! Turning into a nice ol going to town rig!!!
Laughed quite a bit on this one! Really enjoyed it. I think a feller missed an opportunity to install an underbody neon blue light kit to match that carpet! All kiddin' aside, great vid Derek. The wife approves, she says she'd drive that to town any time.
I like the approach you did with this one...you did a bit of a resto-mod. Also, the Cooper's you put on it are a really good tire!
Something interesting a mechanic taught me once when we were wiring trailer lights to keep it simple was green wire is always right for grass is green on the right and yellow left for the yellow strip in the road is always left.
That steering wheel looks like a 90s flavor . Thanks again for the great content !
It's also a Chevy wheel.
The carpet really makes that seat stand out 🤣 all laughs aside I love your videos and your work 🙌🏻
Amazing progress on the square body crew cab very awesome Derek sweet update @Vice Grip Garage
I love your videos. What I used to do in my younger days, I'd go to a carpet store and get some of their leftover remnants that they sold really cheap. Well anyway keep up the great videos....
I remember watching the first video when you got it. Still happy it was saved from being crushed too nice of a truck for that
I like the continuous improvements over time to the various rigs. Great content while I am sipping on a wobble pop!
Such a great classic truck.
Kept telling myself… it’s not that bad of a blue… nope you’re right it’s a bright blue. Enjoying the videos!
