I recently purchased a brand-new set of Wilson Staff CB (2021 models) on ebay for $494 dollars. 4-PW, it truly was one of the best deals on a brand-new set of clubs... they look, feel and preform like a million dollars
I have to get something off my chest: I’m a Wilson fan boy. I converted to them when I changed my Titleist 716 CBs to Wilson V6s. Now I’ve gone to the Staff Blade and I love them. I’m not surprised that the Staff Model CBs are good performers.....
I'm old enough to remember when Wilson Staff was a Premier name in golf with some great golfers playing their clubs, so for me, it would be the Wilson Staff CB every time👍
Glad someone is reviewing WIlson! These irons are amongst the best looking on the market in my books, but no one pays attention to them due to the 'walmart' connotation.
I have just replaced my Wilson Staff V4 irons with the New Wilson staff CB I have had 4 rounds so far and find them brilliant they are 1 deg stronger than my old irons but I find them a lot more accurate they sound and feel exactly as Lester Described , great review , well worth a trial Wilson are back in the game with these .
I’ve always felt that the thinner top lines and soles are easier to get under the ball. Coming from a guy who was bagging Mizuno MP and their MMC type clubs for many many years. The Wilson CBs are underrated and probably overlooked by many, however, they are fantastic and IMO they out preform many of their competitors.
Dan, I just want to say that you are doing a great job with these videos: professional, personable, informative. I know it hasn't been easy these recent weeks...once again, well done.
I’m a massive Wilson Staff fan for irons. They have pedigree, and yet pricing is hard to beat. I play C300 Forged and they are the perfect blend of good looks, softness, forgiveness and distance even with a fairly traditional 33* lofted 7 iron. They won’t be coming out of my bag any time soon. Great to see some attention given to Wilson by you guys. And glad you’re back playing golf again over there. Cheers from Oz 🇦🇺 👍🏻
Cameron do you mind me asking what you play off? Looking at the Wilson staff cb's but if they don't have some degree of forgiveness for a mid handicapper then I'll pass on them. Cheers
@@ftroyser I’m a genuine mid handicapper. The CB’s are very small heads and you would need to be a decent ball striker. The replacement for the C300 Forged I have, is the D7 Forged. They look really similar but are 2 degrees stronger lofts than mine. But they would be a better bet I think (without knowing the specifics of your game). And being forged, if you found the lofts were too strong they could be weakened fairly easily.
@@cameronloveless1751 cheers mate appreciate the info, I'll keep them in mind for the next fitting anyway, feel like Wilson always get overlooked and happy to try them out! Cheers brother from Perth WA 🇦🇺
Great review... really. Maybe the best comparison review I've seen of of any pair of irons. Love how two players hit the irons to compare results for consistency. Love that you showed measuring the irons' lofts to even further look at the test results and drill down to how similar the clubs are. Brilliant.
@@DanHendriksenGolf Absolutely. I'm a blade guy headed into a new set of TCB or mixed blade/cb. I have a great fitter to help me with numbers etc, but seeing pairs of irons reviewed by two people and compared really helps process particular clubs I have my eyes on. Great job.
The wilson CB's weren't even on my radar. But I hit them the other day next to some other irons, and wow! It was so good, 2nd only to the zx7. And I hit a lot of irons.
When I was a kid, we often caddied for the adults at the club and saw all the sets being used, mostly blades/musclebacks in those days and the Ping Eye 2 irons. We voted the Wilson Staff irons the most attractive) They still have the most attractive irons today
I have said it before on your videos Dan and I will say it again. Price point is the most important factor to me. In fact if I can beat someone who playing with Ferrari clubs, while I have Skoda clubs, that makes victory even sweeter. 😊
Currently playing Wilson Staff Model blades with their 18° and 21° Utilities, but I did order the Wilson Staff Model CB 2, 3, and 4 to combo with the blades for this season.. The blades feel phenomenal, and the CB's are not too bad in the long irons. Thanks for the review guys..
Seems strange to say Wilson are underrated given their history but these days that seems to be the case. Have loved their products recently.. especially their irons
I currently play the V4’s, & they are a great club with a beautiful sound at impact. The CB’s are an evolution of the V6’s & not a lot has changed. They worked on getting the sound slightly better & different weighting. To be honest I am not overly struck on the look of the CB but will give it a go when the pro shop opens as I need an upgrade this year & have 3 or 4 to test out. They are forged irons but rough cast first then forged. Price/quality they are one of the best on the market.
They’re nothing like the V6. I’ve gamed the v6 for 3yrs and I want to love these CB and they’re good for sure but the v6 is just better. Feel of the face is better. The weighting for me is way better on the v6. The much thinner top line and just as a whole the head on the CB is bulkier yet maybe slightly shorter in the head. But you don’t hit the CB and get any v6 vibes at all.
Also they play a touch longer then the v6. Close to half a club for me and definitely had a slight drop in spin which I liked because my v6 spin like crazy.
Finally, Dan reviews a Wilson product. Personally I played a set of Staff FG‐17 Tour Blades, from 1988 through 2010. Loved them, although the first few months of ownership was a love-hate thing. But there is no better feeling than sweet spotting a blade iron.. Both of these clubs look equally matched to me, I could use either set. Thanks, Dan and Lester. Cheers from Texas.. 🤠⛳
My experience was more favorable with the Wilson, though the performance was similar to your experience...nearly identical; the Wilson just felt so much better to me. Currently bagging the CBs from 3-6 and the Staff blades from 7-PW.
Started with Wilson Fat Shafts and if I had a choice would go Wilson and nice to see they have clubs that look a bit more normal for the better player, when current Cobras need to change lets hope they still have the same look :)
just bought cobra tour mim over the wilsons, it came down to a better shaft for me in the stock config. both were awesome, the cobra has a bit longer blade length i feel which i like. wilsons were damn pretty.
I bought the Wilson CB’s and used them in anger for the first time this week. They are beautiful!! Hit 16 of 18 greens in reg!!!! Even better than the V6!
I find it odd that "what it costs" wasn't mentioned when you said "It comes down to what it looks like, and what it feels like". Cost is often a factor.
Genuinely don't understand why Wilson Irons are always overlooked by general golfers. They always look great and perform well too. I'm currently playing with D7s and I bloody love them.
They hey won a masters by an underdog a year ago by Gary Woodland. They're back on the map and have won more masters than any other company but in the past. They will come back.
@@user-dd1bb4tw4r US Open, not the Masters. And the last one they won before that was Padraig Harrington I think. Theyre fantastic irons but their woods hold them back in the general public eye i.e. Mizuno and Srixon.
But....dynamic lof is different from static loft. Some of the internal weighting/construction differences will deliver equal static lofts at diff dynamic ones. You shouldn't bend to match dynamic lofts or could compromise sole and turf interaction chasing #s.
I've custom ordered 2 sets of clubs, from two different top tier manufacturers over the last 4 years, and I'm very fortunate that I live only 3 miles away of TXG in Toronto, and after going in for 2 gapping sessions, I can relate, that of the 12 irons ordered, only 2 were to exact spec - and the other 10 were way off. There is no possible way, to get a greater return on your investment in golf, than to go for a loft & lie, 1-hour, gapping session, at a fitter, who will quickly run through every club and dial in the lofts & lies.
Wilson irons are some of the best irons I’ve tried, since there V4 range, absolutely top quality especially when you consider their price, only problem is most pro shops don’t stock them, I think more people would buy them as soon as they try them.

Well I have to be biased as I brought the Titleist of u last year Dan 😝 and I absolutely love them, just trying to remember how to hit them at the moment 🙈 the Wilson looks solid but the Titleist oozes class
The wilson's look great. It's a pity that their prices have crept up in line with others. I think a 7 piece set is £750. I think if they priced these as aggressively as they did the V6 irons, they'd sell a lot more.
By the numbers I would definitely play the Titleist, The distance isn't my concern as much as the decent angle and spin, I want something coming into the green at a known yardage knowing the ball will bite and hold to the yardage that I pick. Having said that both are not Callaway and being a Callaway snob they both wont be touching the inside of my golf bag . :) :)
