    Even tho the lock can be picked ......I still LOVE this design. I have never heard of this design before. I like how compact it is. So much better than that dam cable I have wrapped around my seat. I am definitely going to get me one for my bike. Thanks for sharing.

    • @Gytiss93
      @Gytiss93 6 лет назад +46

      yea same. it seems sturdy enough(more than a damn cable that can be just cut) and is way more compact and adjustable than a U lock

      @bbb8775 6 лет назад +11

      You could hit that lock and it would probably break because it can move separately or you could punch a hole in the joints i guess

    • @thomasneal9291
      @thomasneal9291 5 лет назад +49

      I looked at the reviews of people who bought it, and there is a lot of:
      "great design, but too cheaply made; parts fall off of it easily, like the lock cover"
      I've found it for sale for as little as 28.00 US.
      still, the company does honor its warranty, and apparently will send you a new lock if the one you have breaks.
      and for 28 bucks? that's still quite a useful bike lock.
      interestingly shows none available on Amazon, but this place says it has them:
      www.gearbest.com/other-accessories/pp_286706.html
      never bought anything from them before, so buyer beware etc.

    ive had that same lock but sunlite for years. its been great other than needing to squirt teflon to get parts moving a few times. so i got another slightly different brand but same style and after a few months the long skinny style key broke off locked up outside a walmart. they wouldnt let me borrow cutters so i bought a pair of bolt cutters and snipped it and returned them lol. sadly the cheap cutters went right through that steel like butter. not much tougher than a thin cable.

    Seems like a good option. Pickable, indoors where you can position the look as you want/need. But a bike thief in the streed I think it is to time cunsuming and fuzza. They go to another bike. So the looks seems very good in that aspect. Does not to be pick-proof. Just "to much work" or "to slow to open".

    That's funny if you see the video that I just posted a couple of days ago you will see me using that tension tool to pick a tubular lock. I was trying to make one but it was a fail. So I went to the tension wrenches that came in that kit and that's when I discovered that one. So I want to thank you for the review you did on them or I wouldn't have them. But anyway couldn't you use that hole to tension it to begin with?

    • @lockpickinglawyer
      @lockpickinglawyer  7 лет назад +1

      Yup, I saw it. I guessed it was for tubular locks in my review video, and it seems to work for them, but there's still unexplained features. As for using the hole, there's no good way to apply enough force to it without a custom tool...

    I'd love to see how this fares against the bic impressioning attack. Perhaps you could do a roundup style video on the bic impressioning attack and go through some of the tubular locks you have?

    Asside from the poor pick resistance, how does the rest of the lock and chain feel?

    LPL, it would be really nice if you would rate every lock you pick as to whether you would use it (not just recommend it - unless you wanted to provide 2 ratings).
    I like all your comments but am never sure if they're worth purchasing - especially the $$$ ones. Thanks for considering.

    I know im a few years late, but why tension from the top if you can turn from that hole? Why not tension from the hole to begin with?

    I mean you can buy tubular lock picks. Heck I bought a set of them in case I ever lost the keys to both of my twenty year old bike locks.. If you know what your doing, you can open this type of lock super quick with one of those things.

    I have this lock and I’m very pleased with it. It’s of course not Fort Knox level security but it’s a handy third lock for me which I use to secure my front wheel to the frame.
    The other “two” are an Abus 4850 Amparo and the marching chain to secure the bike to something stationary.
    You want to make the hassle of stealing your bike too much over an easier prey.

    GAWD DAMN!! Was looking at this on Amazon and Ebay, I can't believe how easily it's defeated! guess I'll just carry around the bag for my folding bike and take it into stores, no point in locking it up outside for someone to steal anymore. =)

      Remember that he's an experienced picker in a workshop with good lighting, a full set of picks, and all the time in the world. Your standard bike thief has none of that.

      @@jic1 Good point! Actual thieves would have at best a hammer, an arm and barely enough time to wack at a lock a few times before bolting lol ;)

    If the 6 o'clock hole can be used to open the lock, it can also be used to tension it 360 degrees, right? And it almost looks like the same wiper insert would fit in there.

    How secure are the links on the chain? Could they be popped open with a hammer or similar?
