Flowers heal! I had a devastating crush injury almost 5 years ago & my previously strong body was radically changed. For years, everything I wanted to do was SO hard, some activities were impossible to do. I was depressed, anxious & angry at being dependent on others. I kept trying though & this year, I'm finally surprising myself, my family & my Drs. My daughters family & I have managed to purchase a modest home with a large but unkempt yard. To have folks stop to see my mailbox area, to be able to take cut zinnias & coneflowers to people I've gotten to know, brings me such joy. I hope you can get your physical & emotional strength back. Just a few pots of flowers can bring you SO much joy & sense of accomplishment. I hope you can find some people to love & support you too. May peace find your heart & strength return to your mind & body. Much love sister!

Even though you have high temps during the day there you can grow snapdragons on full sun in August. They would FRY here in my zone 9b. It will be and has been 100 or more for months now. You just have the greenest thumb I have ever seen!
Snapdragons will take heat if they're well watered; I grew them in inland Los Angeles summers... but where I live now it's the humidity that gets to them, I think.

I totally wondered that about snapdragons! Ordered some same variety through Johnny seeds in hopes for it to continue to bloom for me next year through summers here in south. fingers crossed.
Oh I just found out there are 4groups of snapdragons...group 3 and 4 ...must be madame butterfly ...like hot weather...group 1 and 2 only spring and fall ☺
Laura you definitely have a green thumb and Midas touch. I learn something new from every one of your videos. Thanks to you and your family for sharing with us.
Thanks Sheila and Jane, I must have missed that part. I wish I had just alittle bit of Laura's energy to do more gardening but at 76 I just can't so that's why I enjoying watching her.
🌻🌻🌻🌻Sunflower suggestion for next year- Take an area and make stadium rows of sunflowers. The back row will be 10 feet, then 8 feet, the next row will be 6 or 7 feet tall, next will be 4 or 5 followed by 3 and 2 feet and something very very short. A friend of mine did this for several years and it is breathtaking!🌻🌻🌻🌻
What kind of cilantro did you put in? I'm in Georgia, and cilantro does not do well in the summer. You can't even buy plants from late spring to late summer.

@@LB-vl3qn she grumbles and hisses but no meowing. She growls sometimes when she eats too. But no meows...
Thanks for the tour of your new garden. It brought back so many memories of my childhood seeing the watermelon, cantaloupe, pumpkins and corn. I also loved all the cut flowers that I use to see in gardens all over our farm community.
I didn’t even know there were so many varieties of sunflower 🌻
Really nice video! When you panned with the camera I kept thinking how bare it was just a few months ago and how much you have accomplished in those few months. Such a joy to watch the transformation!
Good morning☀️wow I love to cut flower and bring them inside but you have a beautiful variety! I love your garden💕I will try growing some melons next season 😋
I completely admire your appreciation of the bees/pollinators...I wish I could be as brave around all of the swarms of buzzing bees!!!
Wow! This garden has come a long way over the season!
Amazing to see the sunflowers so big. The red one is beautiful
Your cutflower garden space looks soo beautiful already!.. love all your sunflowers🌻.. the pumpkin and squash look great, the corn has grown huge 🌾..and the annual flowers are all beautiful.. Waiting for a glorious fall tour with all the dahlias and sunflowers in full bloom..👍😍💚
I’d love to see what you do with those dry flowers! Do you put them in a wreath or some other type of arrangement? Please show us. 😊
You are one hard-working wife and mamma. Truly an inspiration to many.
Somthing about you’re garden and you’re moms that makes me feel so relaxed and motivated. Can’t wait to see all the blooms
Never disappointed when watching your videos Laura. Always teaching/sharing amazing ideas. Thanks for everything you do to your viewers. Gardening is hard and takes a lot of our time but it’s worth it. Love from Kansas!
@@HappyCats17 I am in the Central Valley. No way can we grow snapdragons in full sun well watered or not. The fry and die back.
@@HappyCats17 my Mom lives in Pasadena. She can grow them there but we cannot here. 105 degrees and nights staying in the 80's for days and days. My poor plants. Thank God for AC
@@melissastruxness512 Oh my goodness, I have family in the CV! (Dinuba/Tulare/Madeira) So disgustingly hot, but such amazing people. And my mom grew up in Pasadena, small world! I truly hate the heat. Live in the Deep South and the heat combined with the humidity is awful. (Born and raised in Georgia and never could get used to it) In my dream world, it would never get out of the 50s, LOL. You might have to start growing your snaps as a winter crop! :o)
@@HappyCats17 My hubby was stationed in Texas so I heard about the humidity! My Dad was from Dinuba! Yes it is a small world. I start growing snaps in October and by February they are gorgeous. They stay that way until the heat hits.
I've collected seeds in the past and gave as Christmas gifts to teachers that they could plant and then they could remember your child
All your tips like watermelon needs less water. Or how to gather seed from the sweet peas so very informative. Thanks.
Wow! I’d say your new area is already a big win. All the amazing flowers and things from seeds. You definitely have 10 green thumbs!
Love those straw flowers. Adding to my list for next year. Great job.
Everything looks beautiful.
So beautiful
Great job
Your hard work is paying off eventually.
I found your channel about a week ago and I have LOVED exploring all the videos you have uploaded! I was so excited when I learned you're an Oregonian - I grew up in Oregon and moved to Ireland just recently so it's been heartwarming and refreshing to have your channel to watch and get a peak at home.Thank you for sharing all your experiences with us!
Would you ever consider doing a weekly "plant profile" where you share your knowledge on one particular plant? I love seeing how you put gardens together, but would also really appreciate focused features as a new gardener to help me figure out what I want to/can grow and how to do it. Keep up the great work! ~Cheers from the Emerald Isle 👩🌾🙋♀️
I loved seeing the flowers in the cut flower garden the most 🌺🌼🌻...scabiosa,zinnia,snapdragons,strawflowers...💜💛🧡 How on earth do those snapdragons grow in summer when everything u read says they are a cool weather flower ie spring or fall ...maybe it's the variety Mdme Butterfly?
I totally wondered that about snapdragons! Ordered some same variety through Johnny seeds in hopes for it to continue to bloom for me next year through summers here in south. fingers crossed.
My snapdragons have done amazing, and we have been super hot all year. Just kept them well watered.
Oh I just found out there are 4groups of snapdragons...group 3 and 4 ...must be madame butterfly ...like hot weather...group 1 and 2 only spring and fall ☺
I can’t believe how much your plants have grown!!! Wow! Amazing! Thanks for the tour!
Definitely a win! The leaves on the red Hydrangea look like dinosaur footprints. 😀
Loved this so much! Please, please do a video with you, your mum and sister gathering flowers and creating bouquets!
When you do get squash bugs, what methods do you use to deal with them?
This please!! I've been fighting SVB for weeks
Laura you definitely have a green thumb and Midas touch. I learn something new from every one of your videos. Thanks to you and your family for sharing with us.
How do you keep Zinnas looking good in a vase...when I pick them it seems like the wilt in 2 days🤷♀️
Laura, YOU are SO in your element! True blessing!
After growing sweet peas, what are your thoughts on using them as a centerpiece on a topiary form or trellis for a large, full-sun container?
Thanks Sheila and Jane, I must have missed that part. I wish I had just alittle bit of Laura's energy to do more gardening but at 76 I just can't so that's why I enjoying watching her.
Everything coming along. Great job guys. Love the 🌺 dark color leaves. Where can i get that hibiscus? For next spring
Harris seeds have the Mahogany Splendor Hibiscus seeds on sale right now. Johnny Seeds have them and many other companies carry them. Google!
Kathy Taylor what a great idea.... I will give that a try next year!, 🌻
What kind of cilantro did you put in? I'm in Georgia, and cilantro does not do well in the summer. You can't even buy plants from late spring to late summer.
Oh, my, you have sooo much patience with those seeds 😊😊
Will the peas have cross pollinated, resulting in "new" varieties for your plants next year? I'm thinking of Gregor Mendel's experiment.
Becca Wolf I’ve wondered about this with many of the flowers she has planted, sunflower, zinnias, snapdragons
everything is just above and beyond... how exciting to see all those sunflowers and pumpkins and melons! what a fabulous feeling to look out from your house and see all those plants! a year ago? just a dream.. and now LOOK !! love Russell helping you along the way, lol... your excitement and enthusiasm is contagious... congratulations on your success!! thanks for the video!!
When is the best time to amend especially if we are looking to make a new bed.can I amend and then plant bulbs?
You can amend any time, as long as the ground/bed isn't frozen (so you can work the soil.)
Now that's gardening!!! Bravo! The new space is amazing!! Old space too, but loving the new.
Helpp im just getting started turning back yard into food forest.
Walking through the pumpkin and watermelon garden... what fun! Gems hiding everywhere and so much to be discovered! Love it!! 😍🌸
