There was truly no mold to MJ. He was indeed one of a kind that can never be replaced...But can we stop for a moment and take note to the voice in "Thriller" that gives it that final touch of chilling appeal? Vincent Price (Vincent Van Ghoul) has one of the most iconic and haunting voices in the history of show business.
Everything about MJ was iconic the man was blessed by God. The vocal hiccups, the adlibs, the woo hoo in the chorus etc etc *no one* had done that before, so not only was his vocals unique, his dancing was unique too, then his whole look (Fedora, curly hair, shades etc) *no one* looked like him either!! I've admired him all my life. My youth was all MJ and 5 billion others agree with me. Exceptional human he was.
You mentioned why she wasn’t screaming on the date like she was in movie. It’s because it’s they’re looking at characters in a movie. Even tho we the audience see that they look just like them, they see it as merely two characters in a scary movie. However as we find out in the end, that even though she dreamt the whole thing, it is proof that we really are living in our own imaginations (for better or for worse)
And this is why hes MJ. His father told him that once when he was petrified to go out on stage. He told him, " you are Michael Jackson," "( get yo butt out there," ) pretty much. No artist since has done anything similar and wowed the world.
I saw him 2 times , dangerous tour 1992 and history tour 1998....was magic. He is the last biggest global superstar with own style, music, dance, clothes, signature that dont exist anymore.....he can wear his black crop pants and still its his with white socks etc.... All before internet, social media and all platforms where everybody can be what they wanna be nowadays. Even a Beyonce, Usher, Chris Brown, Justin Bieber or Timberlake cant in his shadow.....dont have that extra what he has.
Great reaction but to explain about how they are acting differently on one part of the video vs another is simple. They are played by the same people (Michael and Ola Ray) but they are completely different people. The couple from the werewolf part is a couple from the 50s hence their outfits and the zombie couple is from the 80s.
I was in 7th grade, and we did have a premiere party at my house. We all knew the entire dance within 2 weeks! His jacket from the video is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but you will find many pictures of his daughter wearing it or a duplicate. As I grew older I really believe the video is her imagination because she was still so afraid of the movie they were watching at the beginning.
Man you said it right about Michaels voice. It's sits in a song perfectly. Smooth, warm, passionate, raw but so distinctive. React to the full video of smooth criminal!!
In the movie part of the video, Michael was something called a "Werecat". In the video, the characters they played in the movie theater are separate from the ones they played in the movie. They were at a movie theater watching "actors" in a classic horror movie set in the '50s. When they came out of the theater, they were a man and woman (boyfriend and girlfriend) out on a date and the setting was for the then present-day of 1983. So, the movie girl and the girlfriend girl (as far as the video storyline goes) were supposed to be two separate characters. You're missing the entire point of the video. She was "smiling again" because she realized that Michael woke her up from a nightmare at his house. But, as you can see, he really is some type of monster. So, poor Ola just can't get a break.
7:37 When Landis (the director) was trying to keep Michael in frame, MJ kept dancing all around the girl. So Landis told the lady to walk to the beat - no faster, no slower - and MJ was told he could dance anywhere he wanted, as long as he was within 6ft of her. It worked! Ask almost any GenXer and we can do the entire dance upon request.
The older man's voice that you heard that is the legendary Vincent Price you'll have to Google him He did The scary movies that us Genn Exers watched growing up. I remember when this came out we would listen to Wolfman Jack on the radio you'll have to Google him if you don't know who that is He would announce it over the radio that made it even better especially at Halloween time
You mentioned the dancers, Michael was so precise and fast with some difficult moves that his dancers actually had a hard time keeping up with him and learning the moves
FYI- MJ put the disclaimer at the beginning because at the time he was a Jehovah’s Witness and the people at the Kingdom Hall were giving him a hard time about releasing the video.
This made him the Superstar he became. Yeah, he was the cute, super talented kid in the J5 and was still making great hits, but this video was like his "Beatles on Ed Sullivan" moment. Speaking of which, the video right before this was the epic video with Beatle Paul McCartney, Say Say Say. Paul kids and says he taught Michael everything he knows. I'd say. He taught him to make videos with stories and are not just him performing the song. Paul did that with his first video after leaving the Beatles, Another Day. Paul's video, right before Say Say Say was Pipes of Peace which told the story of the Christmas Truce during World War 1. And he taught him to change his appearance on every new album (like the Beatles did). And lastly, he taught him all press is good press.
Originally this song wasn't going to be thriller the way we all know it it was originally going to be called starlight sun with a similar beat but completely different lyrics but they decided to change it to thriller the original can also be found on RUclips as well
I LOVE MJ soo much! and he is the King of pop and will always be but have you met Prince? He is really good too ( not as good as Micheal but he is right up there !) I love your reactionary commentary to this video! and YES that girl should have been screaming while she was surrounded by zombies!
I think you missed the point on part of it. The werewolf sequence was a horror movie. The Michael and the girl in that sequence were not Michael and the girl who were in the theater and were watching it or in the rest of the video. So the Michael you see in the dance and singing portion of the video was not the character in the horror film at the beginning nor was the girl.
Great reaction! One thing I always wonder watching this is, if you know it's a full moon and you're a werebeast, why would you go out on a date, or drive a car? Anyway, not important. Yep, this is the GOAT, but if you want to watch a fun cover of it, check out the acappella group VoicePlay's cover!💙
SE HIZO UN CASTIN POR TODOS ESTADOS UNIDOA PARA ELEGIR A LOS MEJORES BAILARINES...NADIE MENOR PODÍA ACOMPAÑAR AL DIOS DEL BAILE Y DEL POP...EL MEJOR BAILE Y COREOGRAFIA DE LA HISTORIA!!!
NO ME DIGAS QUE JAMÁS HABIAS VISTO ESTE VIDEO DE MICHAEL....ES INCREIBLE, UN NEGRO QUE NO HA VISTO THRILLER ES ALGO IMPOSIBLE JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJA ESTO ES UN HIT EN EL MUNDO DE LA MÚSICA Y EL BAILE...POR DIOS!!!
All of the Jackson siblings have/had that sweet, soft speaking voice. You should watch the movie This Is It. Right before he died, he was about to go on tour and they made a movie out of all the rehearsals and backstage footage. It's sad but also amazing.
to answer your question about where you can find music videos of this caliber, i strongly recommend BTS "ON" there are two music video versions. The official one is a good one to start with, then do the "ON Kinetic Manifesto"
As i like to say to every reactor watching thriller, you cant understand how big he was because theres no superstar today that can compare. Now you have too many artists diluting the field, you have the internet so you have access to any music you want. To have everyone suddenly loving one artist, to the literal amount he had, is highly unlikely. He could go no where without being mobbed. Even Russia. Even China. Even amazonian tribes knew the words to his songs! No matter whether he was famous or infamous, he was the most famous person on the planet. Historically only hitler probably more famous. Not even the big JC because not everyone christian.
@18:16 she is not the same character as the girl from the beginning, even though it's the same actress; also, there's a cool bit at the end(the three dancers) that you missed.
Attention span is a good thing. Cant seem to figure out the difference between the movie set in the 50s and the, at the time, modern day of the 80s. And walking by a cemetery is scary?? Wow...ok. Scared easy? When i was a kid we hung out in the cemetery all night. No big deal.
It annoys me that they always show women screaming either in horror films or when they see a dead body. I have never seen a horror film that frightened me and have seen lots of dead relatives and have never screamed once. I even watched a horror film when I was nearly 9 months pregnant. My grandson said that is why his dad is weird (which he is not).
Hmmm, well there is Ripley in the Alien series. She kicks butt instead of screaming. Also the female lead in Terminator 2. But generally speaking you are right.
I can honestly say; this is a good movie for the music & dancing but for plot it was confusing cause first he was a werewolf then suddenly it's like he a zombie out of nowhere -- it's like what the fuck happened? Did I miss something?
I've really enjoyed your reaction! When this was first released, it was earth shaking. Nobody had ever seen anything like it before. A masterpiece!
Still is. I remember the night it aired. Scared the 💩 out of us
The most dangerous type of zombies. They will dance before eating your brains 😂
They gotta celebrate.
😂😂😂😂👍

He was awesome at 5 he was just insanely talented!
I believe Michael did this ENTIRE choreography.❤
Some people can't run away because they become frozen in terror.
some people cant run because they get tricked into a dance number
Michael Jackson was an incredible artists
We will never see anything like him again
And this is why hes MJ. His father told him that once when he was petrified to go out on stage. He told him, " you are Michael Jackson," "( get yo butt out there," ) pretty much. No artist since has done anything similar and wowed the world.
MTV paid for this! Miiiillions of dollars! A groundbreaking man! I still remember EVERY step!
Michael Jackson and Prince both were incredible artists. And both irreplaceable.
Prince nowhere near MJs level lol
I saw him 2 times , dangerous tour 1992 and history tour 1998....was magic. He is the last biggest global superstar with own style, music, dance, clothes, signature that dont exist anymore.....he can wear his black crop pants and still its his with white socks etc....

I got the Thriller Viewmaster in 1983...kids...now Google what a Viewmaster is.
RIP to Quincy Jones the PRODUCER of this AMAZING song and ALBUM!
I was at the Bad concert in 1988, I’ll never forget it ✌️🇳🇱
The Greatest of All Time
In the movie part of the video, Michael was something called a "Werecat".

You have no idea how many of those jackets were sold after the video was released.
It's not a promise ring. In the 50's (when the beginning was set) the girl wears the guys class/school ring.
I loved the whole thing?!😂❤❤
7:37 When Landis (the director) was trying to keep Michael in frame, MJ kept dancing all around the girl. I just put in a comment that I watched Vincent Price movies when I was growing up He's a legend
@@sharon8015 Such a great voice. Especially for horror.
🙋♀Hi y`all....I`ve seen MJ twice in Germany......it was *GREAT* 👌🔥🔥
The older man's voice that you heard that is the legendary Vincent Price you'll have to Google him He did The scary movies that us Genn Exers watched growing up. Vincent Price’s voice was awesome.
He’s ACTING!
He’s a werewolf!!
He’s not very happy about it.
It all sounds like the 80's because it was made in the 80's
They scream and stand there because that's what the script said to do...lol!😂😊
His sister Janet Jackson also does a lot of dancing in her music videos
You mentioned the dancers, Michael was so precise and fast with some difficult moves that his dancers actually had a hard time keeping up with him and learning the moves
You didn’t catch on to the fact they are watching a movie? They are playing different characters.
FYI- MJ put the disclaimer at the beginning because at the time he was a Jehovah’s Witness and the people at the Kingdom Hall were giving him a hard time about releasing the video.
You need to watch “The Mwking of Thriller !”❤❤
This made him the Superstar he became. Yeah, he was the cute, super talented kid in the J5 and was still making great hits, but this video was like his "Beatles on Ed Sullivan" moment. 12:51, it wasn't her screaming in the 'movie'. Remember, they were watching a movie in the movie theater. 😂
The theme is the 50s...
The run to the high note at about 16:00 is sheer Quincy Jones.
RIP Quincy 💜 -x-

jackson human and not made in a lab. when you're beaten enough by your dad , eventually you get really good. and that's how it was with him.
I think you missed the point on part of it. The werewolf sequence was a horror movie. Every music production since the 90s has been influenced by Michael, Janet, and Madonna. But mostly Michael.
You wonder who doing music and videos like Michael? NOBODY! That's who! 🤣🤣🤣 And just think......this was in 1983! DAMN!!!! I AN OLD!
You didn't watch it to the end.... I was one of the millions who watched it when it premiered. All anyone talked about for months.
I remember when it premiered on MTV. Mark Goodman's intro: "And now, the video you've been waiting a whole year to see."
You didn't see the very end which is a shame, not long though! Really love it Have seen it many times!
Great reaction! Moe MJ pleaseeee
Please check out his American music awards and mtv music awards performances .. ur head will🤯⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

🔥🔥

Yep. He'd been away from the stage for 15 years but he still had it.
Because they’re frozen with fear it happens. In films they overdo it of course.

Not the 80s the 50s horror films
A friend of mine was one of the zombie dancers

Please react to Michael Jackson jam official video
Why do women stand there and scream in horror movies?
Ask the director of all the horror movies.
Big Disapointment. You didn't watch the video until the VERY END. You missed a lot!
Can you please try to remember your thoughts and not pause the video every 5 seconds? Gave you a Like though
Hahahahhaha bro, really? First reaction to thriller? so you live on a cage 😂😂😂
Those are crickets not frogs

I cant take all the pausing and unnecessary commentary!! Especially at best parts sooo frustrating while watching reactions.
The first part was a movie they were watching! The second part was a dream! You interrupt far too much.
Titlecard? Gen Y? As in Boomer?? Pretty sure you were born well after 1970.
