U can say that again. He was so great almost to great lol but he was and is one of the greatest vocalist ever and especially what he was able to do with his voice as well as his performance and so much more. He is forever THE GREATEST in my eyes.
YES!!! Ive been waiting for this one! Michael Jackson is to Halloween like Mariah Carey is to Christmas! For the hundreds (thousands) of times I've heard this song, your analysis showed me even more the genius of MJ! Bravo!
I've always loved how he sings the verses on this song, and the bridge is highly underrated. A Horror/RnB song with pop locking Zombies in the video is so ahead of its time. The GOAT. And they compare this man to Harry Styles and Chris Brown. Smh
That bridge is a PROBLEM u hear me?!?!?! 😭 🎶It's spooky season and u better believe I'm annoying thee HELL outta Alexa! I'm waitin' for her to tell me 'NO BISH' the next time I tell her to play 'Thriller'!😂 Whatever Alexa! Just play it & hush!😝🎃🎶🕴🏾
First of all, we see you with the fresh locs 👏🏾So much to unpack in this one! Michael was a beast and I’m always amazed at how much effort was put into these songs that we obliviously enjoy. The labor to put out this kind of work could never be repaid. As always your analysis was informative and on point. 😮💨👏🏾
Always love hearing MJ get the love & respect he deserves as a vocalist. I see other people here pretty much saying the same thing, as we've experienced many people saying he can't sing, or "he's an average singer", or "he's more of an entertainer than a singer" all kinds of things. While being someone who loves Mike as a pure singer, I'll say that even if you don't LIKE his singing...you have to recognize the talent & skill he has vocally. The emotion, the electricity...& the fact that he can sing in several different styles & genres, which is rare.
👋🏾✌🏾-?? ...an average singer?? - I would have to say definitely an entertainer that could sing, dance & hold everyone's attention from the beginnings of the Jackson 5. 📺 Filmed recordings, music shows or MVs. 🎥
Those harmonies are exceptional. I really noticed how well he sang on this song when I heard a mashup of this song with a Daft Punk song here on youtube. When people say he couldn't sing, what people don't realize is that they don't like his stylized singing, it has nothing to do with his ability because he definitely COULD sing!
It's true that he has been underestimated, but it's good that there are singing teachers on RUclips and other places who highlight his talent as a singer.
It's because MJ was such an impressive dancer that people forget he was also an impressive singer. People also forget MJ was the songwriter behind many of his biggest hits (Billie Jean, Beat it, Dirty Diana, They Don't Care About Us, Bad, Don't Stop til You Get Enough, etc). He could also compose his music by beatboxing and having the musicians recreate it.
All i have to say and have said and will always say MICHAEL JACKSON voice was so very unique and just outstanding. No one sounded like him then or since. Appreciate the video 😊
I would have loved a collaboration between MJ and Whitney Houston on a halloween or christmas song, but I think that would have been a lot of power together
I love these acapella versions of Michael's most famous songs. Yes, he absolutely was underrated as a singer and taking out his groundbreaking videos and amazing dancing, you have to focus on his actual singing. Theres an element to his voice that was just so unique, it amazed. I see that similar with mitch grassi of pentatonix. So unique youre almost shocked at first. I think these acapella videos will showcase to new generations that he was also an amazing singer.
Greetings from Columbia, SC just wanted to tell you I love your hair! So neat very nice! Keep doing your craft I enjoy hearing your take on the voices! Well done!
I always find myself not seeing you on my feed then i get one video and end up binging! I feel like i NEED 3 requests from you!! Chloe x Halle - America The Beautiful, Pat Carroll - Poor Unfortunate Souls, and Screamin' Jay Hawkins - I Put a Spell on You.... these 3 is all I need!! I'm so glad you did Thriller!!
That snake, hell nah, that man get wayyyyy too much credit on Mike's career. And he wasn't really in the studio like that, it was mostly Bruce swedien, MJ, and the whole b team. All that bullshit Quincy talked about Mike I would never trust him when it comes to speaking on Mike
My friend said that Tevin Campbell is a better singer than MJ was. I told her that they sang different types of songs, and therefore it's hard for some people to really appreciate Michael's range. But, of course, we had MJ as a kid to pull from. Had Tevin sang ABC, STOP THE LOVE YOU SAVE, etc., he would have sounded like Michael. Had Michael sang CAN WE TALK the R&B way, he would have sounded like Tevin. Michael CHOSE to go the "pop" route, and in doing so, he tailored his voice to suit HIS sound and style. However, had he stayed R&B (or had Tevin chosen the pop route) you would see that Tevin is not necessarily a better singer than MJ. TECHNICALLY, MJ was a beast. No, he wasn't singing songs like Luther, but the technicalities that went into his songs TOTALLY make up for that. The attention to details were astounding! The vocal stackings, the harmonies, the way he chose to pronounce, the grit, the breathy sounds, etc. are things that separated him from rest. And he didn't stop there. he actually studied the ones that went before him and enhanced his craft. The man was simply born to do what he did.
Nahhh for me young MJ is better than tevin, love you tevin. But they both are child prodigy. I always feel like people hold Mike going pop, he never went pop, whatever that means. I mean I don't think thriller is pop, and king of pop is too limited which I hate the king of music. Unpopular opinion but young MJ can hang with Luther on vocals. And I ain't talking about abc, I want you back, the love you save.
@@finderkeeperrrs, Michael was the SELF-PROCLAIMED King of Pop. He gave himself that title. But I agree; he was the King of It All! But I have to disagree; he did go pop. If you compare his OFF THE WALL to everything that came after, THRILLER and everything else was more pop. I prefer the disco/R&B MJ, but that is not to say that I didn't still LOVE his music. My point was, though, that because of the direction he chose to go with his music, he tailored his voice to that style of music. His voice was more soulful pre-THRILLER. Even his dance style was more soulful. But he was STILL the greatest to ever do in my opinion.
@LYBism he never proclaimed himself the king of pop, that was actually Elizabeth Taylor. And he wasn't really pop and the king of pop is a bullshit and limited title. Bad was funk, r&b, and SOME pop. but today he went full pop is ridiculous. It's so weird cause even if Mike was self proclaimed as the king of pop which he wasn't it wouldn't matter, cause that white man Elvis is called the king of rock n roll and he is not.
Walk with me on this one-please react to dingo music’s Killing Voice with BIG MAMA. They’re a vocal girl group from South Korea. The vocal quality on those women is immaculate, and they took me to church in that video. Hope you consider it, friend!
Chris Brown has been very vocal regarding his love and respect for Michael. I would strongly argue his biggest influence is Michael Jackson. I think the natural tendency is to compare him to Michael because of his very strong dancing and performing abilities. He’s definitely a “musical child” of MJ for sure.
He was such an illustrative vocalist. Like he’s reading and acting out a story for you. Every choice ! So charismatic and soulful😌
One of the greatest singers of all time. Only artist who was so great at dancing and performing that it overshadowed their voice.
U can say that again. He was so great almost to great lol but he was and is one of the greatest vocalist ever and especially what he was able to do with his voice as well as his performance and so much more. He is forever THE GREATEST in my eyes.
His acapellas always astound me. I listened to the Scream stems recently, and the harmony and attention to vowel sounds and placement is next level.
oooh i don’t think i’ve heard the scream isolated vocals!! have to check that oht
You HAVE to listen to The Earth Song acapella!! My gosh, it's like indescribable.
Mike was the vocal stack king! PYT proves that. Thriller was definitely theatrical ❤
Heartbreak hotel breakdown is amazing too it gives me chills
Please do more MJ
42 years later....still amazing and fun!
His voice was ridiculous. Can you do "Where You Are" acapella. Little MJ range was beyond human
Omgaaaahhhhh yeeeess!!
he had so much energy when singing that it's almost impossible to reach that, plus he practiced 4 hours a day and it shows, talent + constant practice
I agree, child Mike's vocals were mature and complicated beyond his age! Amazing.
Michael 's voice has been special since a child. Still floored from Who's Lovin' You. Greatest singer, dancer, and entertainer. Love MJ❤
MJJ was the ALL ROUND WHOLE Package. His vocals are phenomenal. Thank you Jaron for highlighting the Talent that IS Michael Jackson.
Michaels rang always blows me away nobody compares! Long Live The King!🤴🏽
I really enjoyed this . 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽The accapella of butterflies is hypnotic as well.
Ohhhhhhhhh I may have to tap in on that oneeeeee

I thought the video was a movie lol. This shows how ahead of his time. Hands down to you Mr Michael Jackson 🙌 🎶 ❤️. Rest in harmony peace.

You are a treasure. MJ was a gift to us all. Amen.
Butterflies has been my favorite acappella
Musically, Michael could do no wrong. Everything he touched was gold. I listen to Thriller year round. At 50, the video still creeps me out. Lol
Thank you for this analysis. His isolated vocals on "Off The Wall" are also pure gold!
Rest in Peace Michael Jackson!! We miss you! Very great dissect of this iconic song! Jaron

MJ was honestly underrated as a singer. Anyone else think that?
It's true that he has been underestimated, but it's good that there are singing teachers on RUclips and other places who highlight his talent as a singer.
Underrated?? 😂
It's true there are a lot of people who think so giving him that backhanded compliment of being "a performer" not a singer
It's because MJ was such an impressive dancer that people forget he was also an impressive singer.

Jaron that retwist did you goood !
Could you do The Earth Song acappella? Loved the reaction btw 🤍🤍🤍
Jaron u got your hair done! It looks nice 👍🏿🙂
Thanks you for this. So many people think MJ just was a dancer. He been singing since he was a child and truly sing not just dance and compose music .

Thank You for this beautiful analysis, Jaron!🫶🏾🕴️✨
AHHH AFTER THE COMMUNITY POST A COUPLE DAYS AGO I WAS HOPING THIS WAS HOW YOU WOULD ANALYZE IT!!
Great analysis as always! I think Michael is a very under appreciated singer. Would like to see You analyze more michael in the future 👀😌

she was gonna be on ijcsly (I just can't stop loving you) but it never happened, man that would've been POWERFUL

Need to do “Butterflies” by Michael Jackson/Floetry a cappella
