His giddiness and actual enjoyment of the music and technique is so refreshing. I have NEVER, EVER thought about singing since I feel like my voice is pure shit, but his sincere passion has really pushed me to give it a try. Absolute props

He was a perfectionist but he also didn't hide or fix the so called "imperfect" parts of his voice. How he recorded it is exactly what you hear on the finished product. Prince was like this too. That's why they're inspirations to me and my music. I don't use autotune. I don't like to OVER produce my music. As singers were supposed to love ALL the parts and textures of our voice. About the howls, Bruce Swedien (genius engineer) said his dog was supposed to howl but didn't come to the studio. I forget why. Michael howled instead, and they used that because it was so good.

If I remember the story correctly, they wanted a unique sound in Quincy Jones just happened to have one lying around his house and they found that preset and they used it for that effect, this was mentioned by Anthony, who was one of the synthesizer programmers for the album.

Thriller is an amazing album, but arguably the worst example when trying to make a point against anything being over produced. Especially after watching a video about the endless amount of different tracks that are virtually impossible to detect when listening to the final song. Thriller is a celebration of over producing to perfection.
