    Easily his greatest song. Imagine the sheer manpower and effort that went into this production. Kudos of course to Quincy Jones who was at the very top of his game in 1979 and knew how to coax this level of performance from Jackson and the musicians. This is timeless music. 500 years from now, someone will open this song on a little blip of an electronic file and be totally blown away.

    Additionally, it's important to note that on all Michael Jackson albums, he wrote the biggest hits on Off The Wall, Thriller, and Bad, contributing to most of the songs.
    Whenever Michael Jackson is mentioned, there's often a reference to Rod Temperton, who wrote three songs on both Off the Wall and Thriller. However, it's worth reiterating that MJ penned the biggest hits on both albums.
    Rod Temperton was a master... but this song""DON'T STOP 'TIL YOU GET ENOUGH"" was a MJ masterpiece and his biggest hit on that 'Off the Wall' album.

    • @hirokomlm131
      @hirokomlm131 23 дня назад

      Please stop. Giving all this credit to MJ implies that Quincy Jones was just paid to sit in the studio and roll his boogers. MJ sang and danced and he wrote some songs. Quincy arranged sheet music for a big band orchestra since before MJ was born. MJ was clearly the student in the room.

    • @NelsonSwampWorldTour
      @NelsonSwampWorldTour 23 дня назад +1

      @@hirokomlm131 You are missing the contexts and nuances in my comment, because I clearly am giving Quincy Jones and every musician and sound engineer involved in this record MASSIVE props. However, perhaps you've never heard the 25th anniversary edition of "Off the Wall" (maybe it was the 20th-anniversary of "Thriller; I don't remember anymore) that Epic/CBS issued. If you had, you would have heard the home demo recordings Michael did of this song and "Working Day and Night." On these home demos, you will hear a rhythm track that approximates the album version's drum track, a raw rendition of the bassline, and the overall driving energy that coalesced into the final record. I said "THE BONES." MICHAEL made that. Quincy fleshed it all out. Michael was the student, but he was clearly the head of the class.

    Thanks again Chris! This is my favourite of MJ's solo songs because it is so melodically rich, yet so lyrically free. The big, flourishing note you describe as 'powerful...brash and abandoned' - for the first time the word Gospel came to mind when hearing it soloed. I always thought this song was maybe the ultimate expression of freedom and pure joy, and I think that one note is the climactic point of the song. But now I hear Michael giving praise and thanks for the gift, as he saw it, of being chosen as the instrument through which beautiful music can flow, become alive and everlasting. Thank you once again for revealing this greater depth to us.

    The "conversational background vocals" on Greg Philliganes' break.
    That Motown experience Michael got. Learned that stuff right from Marvin Gaye!
    Just a background conversation can be musical & rhythmic just the same.
    I know Berry Gordy was kicking himself daily for letting the Jackson 5 leave Motown.
    Especially after Off The Wall, say less about Thriller.

    Chris, watching your channel makes me see Michael's singing in a whole new light.
    The untrained ear would never think of all the nuance you can put into a head voice or falsetto.
    We just think he's singing the notes straightforward. But you show that it's actually deeper than that.
    You really break down how talented & innovative a vocalist Michael truly is.
    I have grown a new appreciation for Michael's singing far beyond what was already there through you, Chris.
    Everytime I watch a video on this channel I learn something. So thank you for that.
    I found your channel through Jack Black's singing of Peaches from the Super Mario Bros. Movie.
    Messed around and found a gem in this RUclips land. That's why I subscribed long ago. You do good work, man.

      @@N0EL-7007 His dancing is so powerful it makes people overlook his singing.
      But his singing is why he was added to the Jackson 5 in the first place. People forget.
      This is the guy who replaced Smokey Robinson on his own song that he wrote! "Who's Lovin' You".
      Things got flipped somewhere along the way as his career progressed.
      He was once seen as an amazing singer who is also an amazing dancer.
      Now it's like he is seen as an amazing dancer who is also an amazing singer.
      A subtle difference but I think that's the general thinking about Michael's talent today.
      Videos like this bring out the first interpretation of his talents more. The singing.
      To me, he is probably THE case study of singing talent because of how he went from child to adult.
      He was able to make the transition & develop his style further with his changing voice.
      They don't call him The King for nothing, man. He was a very very rare bundle of talent.

    Hearing the isolated vocals, it finally clicked what bridging with mixed voice is about. The 1) brassiness along with 2) forward placement and 3) solid support lets you push up and up until you hit a natural break that requires whistle. It's a continuous spectrum where you have to push into the right resonance. The sound automatically builds out of that and it's not what is taught in chorus.
    Forget "classical" voice that's too rounded and soft. Intentionally pushing into controlled breakup opens up a whole world of sounds.

    I love this track first one I ever heard, (otw) then I got all the others that came before and after! I spent hours listening on repeat until I worked out his speech/sing pattern- made it easier to work out lyrics. Thanks Chris fabulous as always ❤

    Whats fascinating is a fracture of the melody, the instruments, lyrics used or just 10th of the track released alone today would still make it Nr.1

    Omg found out you posted this yesterday when looking up your channel to see if you did a video on a different artist and I’m very glad I clicked I love your content on Micheal and imagine dragons makes you really appreciate their music on an even deeper level. The artist I was looking for when I searched your channel was Dave Matthew’s band it seems like you haven’t done any of their songs yet I highly suggest Crush and Crash into me
