Ive been a Cowboy fan all my life and I was obviously over the moon in the early 90s about the Cowboys but I forgot about Thurman Thomas at the end of this game. I felt so bad for him, he was a truly great RB. The Bills in the early nineties were a great team that just got some bad breaks in the big game. Cowboys had zero pass rush as Haley's back was toast (just watch him in SB XXVII where he was unstoppable), Novacek had 1 or 2 catches only, and Bruce Smith was being Bruce Smith (unlike XXVII when he was virtually unnoticed). As a Bills fan, this feels like an issue that has consistently plagued the Bills even to this day. They were the consensus best team league wide in 1990, but ever since they failed, the entire organization just has this lucky to be here mentality. That Dallas O Line was indeed great but after Emmitt cleared the initial blocks look at how many tackles he broke and how many extra yards he generated. Man just gets no respect for just how good he was at picking up extra yardage.
I had forgotten how well Jim Jeffcoat and Nate Newton played in this game and I'm so glad for them that they did. Having to live through that awful period of losing seasons at the end of the Landry Era and the beginning of Jimmy's tenure had to be emotionally draining and I'm glad to see they got a chance to shine on a Super Bowl team. There was never a game that dreaded more that the Bills 4th Super Bowl. I was hoping that they would win and when they led at halftime I was going crazy! But when Thurman Thomas fumbled and the James Washington returned it for a TD I knew it was over. After that the Bills didn't do anything. It was like they gave up. Sad day.

Think despite the Bills losing all 4 of their Super Bowls, they still had some great teams, and an excellent and consistent QB in Jim Kelly. Still waiting for Josh Allen to take the Bills back to the SB. After Kelly retired, the Bills seemed to basically suck for quite a while. Maybe with a few more twerks here and there. (Online, running game and better blocking.) They can get there.

As a Dallas fan, knowing what happened shortly after this game, seeing Jerry and Jimmy on the sideline hugging at the end of the game and ...at that time thinking they were goin to win a few more SBs and have one of the best dynasties ever, then of course the drama leading to Jimmy leavin which was a gut punch to the fans, then the mass FA exodus back then that basically ended it..yes they won another 2 yrs later w Switzer as head coach but they were more fortunate than great to win it as they got housed at home by SF w out injured Steve Young, lost to Wash twice, and needed SF to get upset by Atl the last week of the season giving Dallas home field in the POs, then of course the O'Donnell gifts of 2 ints in SB 30..🤷🏽‍♂️..but 3 out of 4 SBs is still pretty good😎☝️

Emmitt Smith broke more tackles than Barry Sanders, was much more effective in goal line situations, was a better blocker, was very effective out of the back field catching balls for crucial yards, carried the rock, and took a lot of hits, tallied the most yards in history to become the NFL's all time leading rusher. Add to that he was a 3 time Super Bowl Champion, and MVP. Sanders "pretty style of running although impressive, and fun to watch just does not stack up to Emmitt the GOAT.
