As someone who grew up watching Clone Wars and Rebels I adored the Ahsoka show! I thought it was peak star wars fantasy! Call out the beekeeper because it was precisely my jam.
I think the shot of the cargo at the end were night sisters. I think it's a pilgrimage from their home galaxy to the star wars galaxy. They are trying to repoulate dafamer since the night sisters were wiped out during the clone wars.
Ahsoka was 14 in the first episode of the Clone Wars show. A lot has happened since then. How many people do you know stay as bubbly in their 30s/40s as they were when they were in their teens? Especially someone who's seen war. Also, Rebels did end with Ahsoka and Sabine going off together. They totally were going to look for a way to bring Ezra home and train together. I thought it was pretty straightforward.
I don't think anyone was expecting her to be bubbly. Or even as snippy. Just... likeable. Her stoic and dour mood is not only out of character for her teenage self, but for the Ahsoka we saw in Rebels or in Mandalorian and Boba Fett. She wasn't bubbly or snippy in the latter three shows either, but we at least saw different sides of her. I was expecting them to explain why she was a downer mood, maybe something happened since she left Luke, but they just never did.
I believe there are more Dathomiri witches in the boxes. Thrawn mentioned that he woke up the three mothers, and the star destroyer is bound for Dathomir.
My thoughts on Ahsoka basically boil down to two thoughts: * I like the back half more than the front half... which is like saying Revenge of the Sith is the best of the prequels * Many of the actors deserved to be in a much better show
The statues in Ahsoka were "The Father" (Force Balance God)... "The Son" (Dark Side God)... and not shown because it was destroyed was "The Daughter" (Light Side Goddess) which I assume is because she was accidentally killed by the son back before Anakin became Vader. They were all characters in The Clone Wars animated series. It should also be noted that Ahsoka personally met the Father, Son and Daughter with Anakin and Obi-Wan. And in the final episode of the Ahsoka series there is a moment after Thrawn's ship has jumped back to the original galaxy when she hears a bird call and turns to see what looks like an eagle looking at her before it flies off. An eagle being a form that The Daughter was capable of shapeshifting into. There are possibly dead corpses of Night Sisters in the boxes. They are about the size of coffins and it would explain why there are seemingly only 3 Sisters left in that galaxy. The rest are dead... and since necromancy is a thing, I assume that reanimated Night Sisters would be a far more useful army than a zombie Storm Trooper army.

I agree. Thrawn is meant to be a grandmaster chess player on the battlefield. Someone that is already 3 steps ahead before the battle has even begun. We have seen none of that in this depiction. Which is a damn shame. I was just saying what I thought was the set up for season 2. I didn't say I liked my theory, or that I wanted it to be true. I'd much prefer those creatures that are able to cancel out and negate the force from being able to be used. I just very much doubt those are what is in the boxes.
I loved it. I found it to be especially moving. I'm a tad biased I guess because I thoroughly loved Rebels and I've loved just about everything Dave Filoni has put out. People complain about how flat she is in it but I think that's a part of her character arc. That was the point.
Ah, the letters segment reminded me of when I was trying to break in to screenwriting. Which went so we'll I have worked in banking the last 10 years. I still enjoy writing the odd script or treatment but now I do fun things for myself, like re-writing Star Wars 9 etc

I've convinced myself we are getting the completion of Anakins story next season with him taking the fathers place in Mortis and finally bringing balance to the force thereby fulfilling the prophecy and tiring up that lose story thread nicely.

I think for Magneto they should say his origin is the same but hydra discovered him and froze him similar to Bucky then he got released from the frozen nightmare and is in our current timeline now.
Yeah I think him being a Holocaust survivor is not just iconic, but it is such a perfect spot in history everyone knows and understands instantly, much like Cap being from WWII now that I think about it. Trying to "update" that would just muddy the waters for no reason. I honestly think at this point it should just be MARVEL canon that his mutant powers also slow down his aging, I mean it's much more simple than the original comic where he was turned into a baby and was lost in space for decades before returning to earth as a slightly younger man.

The subplot of Baylan Skoll in his search of the Gods of Force was quite good. It was interesting to see him ignoring the career opportunities that the rescue of admiral Thrawn offered and following another, less certain and obvious path instead. Ashoka and Sabine dynamic was a total disappointment and Sabine and Ezra reunion didnt feel like they missed each other even for a second, with both actors clearly not interested in emitting even a slightest amount of emotions, which looks very strange, given the length Sabine went to save Ezra 😆 All in all very bad
I truly believe Ezra has blackmail on WB execs and you can't convince me otherwise. There is no other explanation of why they shoved out that billion dollar flop of a movie that everyone knew would bomb.
At this point I'm convinced that DC were just in denial about Ezra and convinced themselves that it would all be fine and to crack on as if nothing happened.
The best recast for Baylan Skoll is Vincent Regan - the live action actor for Garp in the new One Piece show. he has the large build and thick grey-beard energy we need for the role. PLEASE SPREAD THIS!!

Yeah, a lot of people seem to be confused about them. Even people who seem to know Star Wars really well. It's weird to me. It's going to be just like Jedi Fallen Order. The dead night sisters are in the coffins and that's the reason why the matrons are following Thrawn so assiduously. They will be resurrected in season 2 or perhaps the movie that's coming but I'm certain that's what's going to happen.
I think Hollywood does need to take into account that Taylor Swift being in the movie of Cats didn’t save that movie from bombing, so a filming of her sold out concert tour that many of her fans couldn’t afford to see, doesn’t equate box office money if she was playing a character in a movie

@archangel1of7 It really hit the spot for me after the heartbreak of season 3 Mandalorian. Balin opened the season strong. Cute Ashoka flashback. Thrawn be actin'. Neat Vadar stuff. Great practical effects. Digital effects being pushed. Expanding lore. Revisiting old characters. Original score tugging the heart strings and a finale that hit all the boxes with the best choreography of the series and a suprise or two with the story. People got offended that Sabin gets force powers when it needs to happen. Too convenient. Every super saiyan happens this way, so it is fine. Heat tempers steel and all that. She will be a dark force wielding powerhouse in no time.
@@rockman7503 I love that you actively pick out only the most mundane of criticism. The show was acted poorly, the lightsaber choreography for everything was really off. Disney not bring Gillard back for the choreography has hurt every Disney Star Wars production. Sabine was fine, her armor looked like a cosplay but that was about my only complaint. All of the Mandalorian armor looks cheap and cosplay-like since they brought in the 501st cosplay group. Thrawn acting like how a child writes a "Super genius" character that leads him to behaving like a really bad anime villain the entire time. It was a set up for Filoni's movie that is now in production, and that's all that it was really meant to be. I guess as a mystery surprise box to get you to watch a future movie, it did what it set out to do. Also, if we're getting super cynical because this is Disney. Sabine got Ezra's lightsaber, Ezra crafted a new lightsaber, and Ahsoka lost one of her lightsabers for a single golden reason: Disney can now sell a new legacy lightsaber for each of those characters in their Galaxy's Edge Theme Park. Ahsoka losing a lightsaber and getting that unbelievably dumb nightsister sword to replace it? Purely and solely an excuse for Disney to sell another $500 dollar set of Ahsoka lightsabers and retire the previous ones. The exact same reason that Ahsoka changed her sabers from green, to blue, to white, and now to some weeb trash sword/saber combo, an excuse for Disney to market her weapons again. Every bit of that stuff with their weapons was all so cold, and calculated, I could literally smell the shareholder and marketing meeting that went into that decision.

Yeah, I didn't know anything about Thrawn going in beyond that he was meant to be quite competent. But it was failure after failure for him the entire time. He managed to scrape a win out despite taking pretty huge losses, but there's no reason I'd assume he'd be such a threat going forward.
Ahsoka is interesting. Its production values are comparable to Andor, but the writing doesn't even come close (one might even say it's bad). Will things get better after the writer's strike? One can hope.
There were some truly awful moments where damage and danger just stopped working on the hero's. Like the mines not hurting the whales, or the DEATH LASERS from the SPACE SHIP not hurting a few people on dogs! those moments had me groaning.
Sabine was awful, both writing and portrayal. She's got too much cool stuff going for her to find her remotely cool. Rosario seemed like she was aping Clint Eastwood with a Japanese wanderer slant, but it was Clint Eastwood who aped the Japanese wanderer thing in the first place; her portrayal gets a lot of flak for being wooden, but it's also derivative by a few layers. This whole show felt like it owed it's existence to the idea (conceit?) of giving Filoni a platform to hang his sum contributions to the New Star Wars universe off of. A Filoni Christmas tree if you will. I wont say it was total crap, but I'm definitely not into it. Shame.
I'm the other way, I thought Andor was very weak with only Andy Serkis and the prison scenes saving it from being a complete disaster. Enjoyed Ashoka, it might have relied to much on call backs though, but that's Filonis MO.

Disney never recasts actors, for pretty much any reason. If he died in real life, he's going to die in the show or between the seasons. Disney didn't even replace Gina Carano when she got fired as Cara Dune. They cancelled the Cara Dune show that was in production instead and removed all footage of her from the upcoming Mandalorian season. The only time they ever contemplated a replacement was when Rosario Dawson got in trouble for beating up a trans person and Disney threatened to fire here as Ahsoka if she got anymore bad press. That's only because Ahsoka is their like #1 most popular character.

The subplot of Baylan Skoll in his search of the Gods of Force was quite good. It was interesting to see him ignoring the career opportunities that the rescue of admiral Thrawn offered and following another, less certain and obvious path instead. Ashoka and Sabine dynamic was a total disappointment and Sabine and Ezra reunion didnt feel like they missed each other even for a second, with both actors clearly not interested in emitting even a slightest amount of emotions, which looks very strange, given the length Sabine went to save Ezra 😆 All in all very bad
They woulda designed/made it months ago? DC has known Ezra was an issue for years and they just went ahead with making toys they knew no one wanted.
I truly believe Ezra has blackmail on WB execs and you can't convince me otherwise. There is no other explanation of why they shoved out that billion dollar flop of a movie that everyone knew would bomb.
At this point I'm convinced that DC were just in denial about Ezra and convinced themselves that it would all be fine and to crack on as if nothing happened.

Yeah, a lot of people seem to be confused about them. Even people who seem to know Star Wars really well. It's weird to me. It's going to be just like Jedi Fallen Order. The dead night sisters are in the coffins and that's the reason why the matrons are following Thrawn so assiduously. They will be resurrected in season 2 or perhaps the movie that's coming but I'm certain that's what's going to happen.

@archangel1of7 It really hit the spot for me after the heartbreak of season 3 Mandalorian. Balin opened the season strong. Cute Ashoka flashback. Thrawn be actin'. Neat Vadar stuff. Great practical effects. Digital effects being pushed. Expanding lore. Revisiting old characters. Original score tugging the heart strings and a finale that hit all the boxes with the best choreography of the series and a suprise or two with the story. People got offended that Sabin gets force powers when it needs to happen. Too convenient. Every super saiyan happens this way, so it is fine. Heat tempers steel and all that. She will be a dark force wielding powerhouse in no time.
@@rockman7503 I love that you actively pick out only the most mundane of criticism. The show was acted poorly, the lightsaber choreography for everything was really off. Disney not bring Gillard back for the choreography has hurt every Disney Star Wars production. Sabine was fine, her armor looked like a cosplay but that was about my only complaint. All of the Mandalorian armor looks cheap and cosplay-like since they brought in the 501st cosplay group.
Thrawn acting like how a child writes a "Super genius" character that leads him to behaving like a really bad anime villain the entire time. It was a set up for Filoni's movie that is now in production, and that's all that it was really meant to be. I guess as a mystery surprise box to get you to watch a future movie, it did what it set out to do.
Also, if we're getting super cynical because this is Disney. Sabine got Ezra's lightsaber, Ezra crafted a new lightsaber, and Ahsoka lost one of her lightsabers for a single golden reason: Disney can now sell a new legacy lightsaber for each of those characters in their Galaxy's Edge Theme Park.
Ahsoka losing a lightsaber and getting that unbelievably dumb nightsister sword to replace it? Purely and solely an excuse for Disney to sell another $500 dollar set of Ahsoka lightsabers and retire the previous ones. The exact same reason that Ahsoka changed her sabers from green, to blue, to white, and now to some weeb trash sword/saber combo, an excuse for Disney to market her weapons again. Every bit of that stuff with their weapons was all so cold, and calculated, I could literally smell the shareholder and marketing meeting that went into that decision.

Have you seen the originals? Choreography... well you can't cheap the story and expect that to carry it. People say Sabin screwed the pooch by surrendering to Balin, who just hit her master so hard she had a vadar nightmare. Alternative choice to surrender is... try to smash the thing and die? There's a practical problem that comes with zombies and the shows rating, they have lightsabers but can't Darth maul them.

Yeah, I didn't know anything about Thrawn going in beyond that he was meant to be quite competent. But it was failure after failure for him the entire time. He managed to scrape a win out despite taking pretty huge losses, but there's no reason I'd assume he'd be such a threat going forward.
Ahsoka is interesting. Its production values are comparable to Andor, but the writing doesn't even come close (one might even say it's bad). Will things get better after the writer's strike? One can hope.

There were some truly awful moments where damage and danger just stopped working on the hero's. Like the mines not hurting the whales, or the DEATH LASERS from the SPACE SHIP not hurting a few people on dogs! those moments had me groaning.
Sabine was awful, both writing and portrayal. She's got too much cool stuff going for her to find her remotely cool. Rosario seemed like she was aping Clint Eastwood with a Japanese wanderer slant, but it was Clint Eastwood who aped the Japanese wanderer thing in the first place; her portrayal gets a lot of flak for being wooden, but it's also derivative by a few layers.
This whole show felt like it owed it's existence to the idea (conceit?) of giving Filoni a platform to hang his sum contributions to the New Star Wars universe off of. A Filoni Christmas tree if you will.
I wont say it was total crap, but I'm definitely not into it. Shame.
I'm the other way, I thought Andor was very weak with only Andy Serkis and the prison scenes saving it from being a complete disaster. Enjoyed Ashoka, it might have relied to much on call backs though, but that's Filonis MO.

Disney never recasts actors, for pretty much any reason. If he died in real life, he's going to die in the show or between the seasons. Disney didn't even replace Gina Carano when she got fired as Cara Dune. They cancelled the Cara Dune show that was in production instead and removed all footage of her from the upcoming Mandalorian season.
The only time they ever contemplated a replacement was when Rosario Dawson got in trouble for beating up a trans person and Disney threatened to fire here as Ahsoka if she got anymore bad press. That's only because Ahsoka is their like #1 most popular character.
