That Pedro Pascal never appears in season 3 is a revelation to me. Completely missed it. But now looking back, I did indeed feel like Mando had no personality. It felt like he relied more on talking, rather than the body language from the first two seasons. There's an art to acting in a helmet (and filming someone in a helmet), which I thought this show and the Dredd movie excelled at.
Back then you could have a full 10 minutes of Mando not speaking, yet you never stopped seeing him as a person. Maybe they had him talk so much more because they felt weird paying Pedro Pascal millions for a few sentences per episode.

He doesn't really do movies that I've seen at least besides Massive Talent. Do you mean "he's everywhere" like.. online? Because, I totally agree there, he's all over every feed on every website I go on lmao, it is quite obnoxious.

I think one aspect of why it doesn't work quite as well as it did in the early seasons comes down to the directing/framing of shots this season. In season 1 especially, scenes were usually shot in such a way that Mando seemed to be the POV or he was "hunting" the POV (so you could see how dangerous a foe he was), but in season 3 there isn't the same focus on him as the main character, so his presence is diminished.

1:00:00 The alternative ending isn't Ash waking up in present day to a deadite invasion, it's him messing up the spell he was using to sleep until the modern day and sleeping for too long. So he wakes up in a postapocalyptic future.
The other ending is him getting the spell correct, but the deadites don't leave him alone. It shows him in present day, back at his day job at K-Mart, when he gets attacked by demons and the movie ends with him killing them.

I accidentally queued up last week's and it took me until the mention of Renfield not being out to realize I was listening to the wrong week (I immediately thought "oh, another week with the Aunty Donna boys? Nice") but this was a great show, an entertaining (and informative) listen as always.
As for the Mandalorian season 3, I think I have similar feelings to James, if slightly more positive. I don't think there was a single episode that I thought was bad, though there were two I disliked for differing reasons: the premiere felt like way too much setup for later and not much of an episode unto itself, while the diversion episode (focusing on that doctor guy) felt too much like the Mandalorian episode of Book of Boba Fett (strong for what it was, but very out of place, even if it also set up things for later). I think most other episodes were rather good (I also liked the semi-noir episode with Jack Black, Lizzo, and Christopher Lloyd, whereas the final two were rather strong, especially the action in the finale) but as a season it was rather weaker - it felt unfocused, but not in the way that early Mandalorian was just "here's an episodic adventure with Mando and Baby Yoda" (which I'd've appreciated), rather like they wanted to tell a broader story but were skipping certain parts and just giving us a few minor breadcrumbs. I think dropping most of the premiere and just jumping into the voyage to Mandalore would've been a better start and would've freed up some time to let the rest of the story breathe (especially if they replaced the Pershing episode with one focused more on Bo-Katan and the Armorer gauging each other, maybe sparring philosophically, leading to the whole "you should lead and maybe sometimes take off the helmet" decision). There were moments that felt like this season was hindered by people's availability, though I hadn't felt it for Pedro Pascal as much as Giancarlo Esposito. The season also had the Filoni problem that annoyed me with the previous season: it's doing too much to build out and touch upon other aspects of the world that the main characters of *this show* get diminished or left behind, though I didn't find it as egregious as in season 2, where an entire episode was devoted to Ahsoka (which kind of worked) and another spends a lot on Boba Fett (which worked better), and then the ending fell apart as they shoehorned in a big cameo (while some people may love the use of Luke, I thought it was one of the worst moves they could've and ever did do in the show - I don't want to rant, but will elaborate if people want), but the need to focus on Pershing for a whole episode, give us the Shadow Council stuff, and keep checking in on old characters (lots of Nevarro, a stop on Tattooine, etc.) soured things a bit. Overall, though, season 3 was "fine", "good" even, just not "amazing" like season 1 or Andor season 1.
Picard season 3 was really good, though I was a bit disappointed as we got to/through the climax (so penultimate & early final episode). I wish the preceding seasons had been as strong, but at least we got this one.

I didn't notice anything off about Mando because he's never really made a strong impression on me as a character. Like, I know his motivations (Grogu, Mandalorians, the creed), but I couldn't really tell you much about his personality? He doesn't seem particularly impulsive or particularly careful for example, particularly sarcastic/silly or particularly stoic/serious, particularly charming or particularly awkward, etc. Neither body language nor vocal performance has yet made much of an impression for me personally. Mostly, I feel like a lot of the show has been about exploring other worlds and the various action/suspense/comedy situations that arise from the particularities of those worlds. So inasmuch as there has been a sense of character, it has come in a lot of ways through the worlds rather than the people.
Season 3 ended up making more sense to my brain that previous seasons through that lens, inasmuch as for the most part the different Mandalorian peoples/groups were characters and the Mandalorian people as a whole were sort of a character. I'm a bit curious to see if I have a different experience revisiting older episodes with that sense of progression in mind; if these first 3 seasons constitute a bit of an arc about beginning the restoration of Mandalore, Mandalorian culture, and Mandalorian people, then maybe that could give me a sense of direction going back to the previous seasons. That's been my main thing which makes me not be too big on The Mandalorian: it has always had a very nebulous sense of direction for me and the various elements often wouldn't gel to me. Cautiously optimistic for Ahsoka still, as I did like Rebels a lot.

So the funny thing is, I'm 90% sure the concept of Optimus and Megatron being old friends wasn't a thing before the movies. In the original cartoon at the very least Orion Pax was a dock worker with no connection to Megatron. I think the 2007 movie may have changed Transformers lore forever by having Optimus say "You left me no choice... brother." presumably to rip off Revenge of the Sith which had only released about 2 years prior.

The Deadpool’s were love letters to the character.
I love that he’s having fun and making things he actually wants to make. Maybe he’ll do a different style one day but I don’t think he needs to and the films he makes these days aren’t of less value than any others.

So, yes, I 100% acknowledge that this last season of Mandalorian is nominally a step down from the previous two, but... I liked it more than season 2? I don't know why, I just did. I think at least some of it comes from the addition of Bo-Katan? That's not a character I cared the slightest about before this season, be it in Clone Wars, Rebels, or even when she was in season 2. But, for whatever reason, she felt fresh to me in this. I guess it helped that she serves as an audience surrogate to this phenomenally dumb Mandalorian cult. That, and this season was less reliant on "Surprise Returning Character!" than season 2 did, which was a major turnoff for me on that season.
Also, Moff Gideon is such a fucking Mandalorian weeb holy shit it's pathetic.

I've been listening to these for, it feels like ever, and only just clicked that James calls Nick by his last name, like he's a school teacher or something, so rude!

I see it more of a "been friends forever" type of thing. We used to all call each other by our last names back in school. Just feels like they're proper mates.

    Evil Dead Rise Spoiler
She stabs the tattoo needle into her own face first then into the daughter. So it’s the infected blood being injected into her face that got her.

I was kinda bored with the evil dead rise movie, I kept waiting for it to ramp up, but it just kept starting and stoping, and nothing really did it for me.
Also, I wish doing the lazy force push kills would die off , it’s cheap and looks awful you have a limited number of kills to do and you wast one with that.

FF lost it's shine when Paul Walker died. Fast X looks like a 2 hour joke. Too much Diesel control.

I thought you were initially doing a bit when you were so positive about Picard S3, haha. Sure, it’s not as atrocious as 1 and 2, but I really was let down by the incredibly sloppy writing and just being a longer version of Nemesis mashed up with First Contact, with numbing action in gritty ‘compromised Starfleet’ land instead of thoughtful scifi in a utopian future. So tired of the Borg. And Starships without interior lighting.
