I dont know if anyone mentioned it already, BUT. And in this movie there was two unrelated scenes of alien music, and then High Evolutionary even mentions that Earth has maybe the best culture, theater, music etc. I think its kinda cute
In regards to the music choices in Guardians 3, to begin with I found it sort of distracting but Idk, the way I thought about it was the first two films were Peter's story and so have this meticulously crafted playlist of songs that were meaningful to him, but going into 3 the film is really about all the Guardians equally (with an emphasis on Rocket) so we end up with this mix of different musical influences throughout, less tied to a singular character or time. Like when you're younger and going for a drive you just listen to your music but as you grow up and start a family, have kids, suddenly you have to balance everyone's tastes. Plus the different music choices help differentiate this film from the previous 2 and sort of represents the tonal shift going into volume 3. Idk though

Really enjoyed Animorphs talk, particularly the part where as an example of a thing that doesn't ever happen - a book cover featuring an animal turning into a human rather than vice versa - James or possibly Maso happens to absolutely bullseye the one animal that does actually happen with. Tobias gets stuck as a red-tailed hawk in the first book or two, but due to time travel shenanigans (unrelated to the time he accidentally killed Hitler) he regains the power to animorph back into himself and potentially work at a Boost Juice.
I started listing to the podcast from the beginning the other day and James does it in episode 3. One day he’ll figure out if it’s pronounced dune or dune
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has all the absurdity and "spaghetti on the wall" fun of a Cannon film, if given the appropriate budget, one of the greatest out-and-out-scenery-chewing villains I've seen since the 90's, and all the feels of seeing your school friends together for the last time. GotG3 was much like Endgame for me. By that I mean it was a movie I really enjoyed and it works well as a send off movie... but I just can't say its quite as well crafted as the ones that it is sending off.
Adam Driver would have been perfect as The Wizard with the Frightful Four as the main villains in the 1st Marvel Fantastic Four movie but I'm sure he'll be awesome.
The number of paychecks tied to how well a show/movie does is why that shit got published in the first place. The box office spectator sport came after. That's how streamers are going to have to release their numbers, the contracts with creators will demand it. BTW, the biggest fear for the studio is that residuals will be made on a per view basis, which is a very easy to track number and could be potentially botted for massive gain.

I need to see James pretending to know everything about something while clearly reading facts from his laptop.
I just realized the fighting game character I NEED to see. He would be an aging or otherwise infirm fighter who _only_ fights via being handhandled by 2-3 stagehands in "invisible" black dance suits. When he "jumps," they pick him up and carry him. When he "kicks," they hold his body upright and drag his foot at the enemy. He is a human puppet.
I think that even Ms.Marvel was a really grat look into a diffrent culture and learn about realworld and MCU events and how it shapes this version of the character, can't wait for the next stuff they're planning.
I was honestly surprised how much I DIDN'T like GOTG 3 especially with how much unanimous praise it's getting. Haven't seen an mcu movie since endgame but wanted to watch this since Guardians 2 is my favourite mcu movie and unfortunately it was a huge letdown for me. Think I might just be tired of marvel movies at this point.
Sadly, I'm going to skip the Guardians of the Galaxy 3 talk because I haven't seen it yet and want to go into the movie with as little as possible pre-influencing how I'll feel about it (I'll listen after I see the film, as I often do). I hope to catch it early next month, possibly with family members who aren't as into the MCU as I am, so I am wondering if people who've seen it can tell me (in the least spoiler-y way possible) what films I'd need to show those family members first. I'd assume GotG1&2 as well as Infinity War & Endgame, maybe the holiday special - anything else? Or anything on that list I could actually cut out?
That is everything you need to watch. You could also add the first part of Thor Love and Thunder but it’s not necessary but tells when Thor finally left the Guardians team but doesn’t involve and character developments for any of the Guardians members. Think volume 1 and 2 plus the last avengers movies are pretty essential.

Does anyone have a link to the boys GotG 1 review? Seems like the archives don’t go back that far and I just wanted to hear their thoughts from back then.
The only real problem I had with the movie was it felt like everyone was trying to tie up all the loose ends to the point that sometimes the constant cutting in and out felt jarring. There was one just before they go to the flesh station that was especially harsh. It also seemed to be highlighted by how the music was used, which also at time felt very jarringly pushed in, vs a more natural fit previously.
I’d probably need more elaboration. But based off this, I can’t get behind it. Because the cutting back and forth was only really between flashbacks for one character. Everything else didn’t have that issue.
@@williamkrause5585 The easiest one is the sudden change to a group of people in colored suits. Suits I never saw before this moment and having to go, "wait... that must be the heist team, but did I stroke out and only see red suits or just miss altogether when they changed into these colored suits?" It was just suddenly them, smash cut.
@@williamkrause5585 Another that was less about the scene but just the overall mood, was in the flesh station fight. They go from this fun loving fight time to suddenly, they make Drax out to be actually injured right back to fun loving because Quill tricked the girl. And not like a little drama of they are surrounded but like they made it seem as if Drax was on the verge of death himself. It's different from the prison break in the first one because that stays far more even emotionally. No one is "seriously" injured, the music is just their heroic epic track and does not really dead drop or suddenly starts playing, but instead ramps up slowly.
Look, I didn't religiously read the Animorphs books and I know they probably don't actually care, but James got so much wrong in just his summary of the concept, lol. They can change back into humans, and they do know what animal they'll turn into, but it has to be an animal they've come into physical contact with before. If you spend more than an hour as an animal, though, you're stuck in that body forever, which is what happens to Tobias at the end of the first book and is why he's stuck as a hawk for most of the series. Also, the whole thing is apparently an allegory for the Vietnam War or something? I dunno, I read them when I was 9.
I would say that the one thing that I I noticed was how Rockets face attack scene was in the same act as Mantis throwing a face-scratching monkey gag. It felt poorly timed to give the joke any laugh lol.
Rocket countered the High Evolutionary's telekinesis with the Mag boots he was using at the start in Knowhere when walking upside down, aka Chekov's Mag Boots

I like Jonathan Majors but it's a multiverse, recast Kang with an alligator. Or get Eddie Murphy, imagine him doing a load of Kangs
I thought GotG Vol. 3 was disappointing, but still GOOD 👍. Lol 😆 Monday Mates!!!!
It’s the last good MCU movie we’re probably gonna get for a while.
@Chase Hedges67 yea.. The Guardians have always been my favorite soo it's definitely the end of an era.. 🥹
@@LivinNexus 👍👍
@@LivinNexus At least it went out with a bang.
Thank you for talking about the writer's strike. Too many morons disregarding it because they bafflingly believe writers are all rich.
I ate my Blackberry and now I have a Bluetooth mate.
Oh....I thought this was a thing where you reviewed all of us who like movies
01:17:25 WE THE AUDIENCE UNDERSTOOD GROOT BECAUSE WE THE AUDIENCE FINALLY BECAME PART OF THE FAMILY YO!
Geri Halliwell is in Gran Turismo because married to a Formula One guy. She's in the trailer at the dinner table as the main kid's mum.
Does anyone have a link to the boys GotG 1 review? Seems like the archives don’t go back that far and I just wanted to hear their thoughts from back then.
Guardians Vol 3 was better than any cinematic release since endgame, but significantly worse than Vol 2.
Shout out to the special guest nick mason!
GONNA BANG OUT A TIGHT WALK REAL QUICK!
In regards to the pronunciation of Maryland, the only mistake you guys are making is in over-enunciating the Y. It's pronounced like the name "Marilyn."
Miami Vice is absolutely all vibes
Virginia has the superior drivers. We also have our fare share of bad drivers but Maryland out of the DMV is the worst set of drivers who need school or more lessons behind the wheel.
Did you get a good look at the newspaper Peter's grandpa was reading?
