Hey GP! Great video. Don't ever say sorry for a video being "too long!" There is no such thing when it comes to your channel! God bless. Greeting from Dallas!
Hi Gord! Thanks for a very thorough explanation of how you use your grapple. The more I see them used in videos like this, the more I’m swayed toward getting one. Thanks for sharing what you’ve learned!
I am subscribed to your channel and yes you deserve a grapple I keep mine on about 90% of the time. You expecially needed one when you're clearing your land for your shop and pond
Good morning GP I have over forty years of operating a lot of different tractor manufacturers I am by no means a tractor expert. One of my pet peeves is no chains carrying the loader high in the air keep that bucket as low as possible. Have a good day
GP, again.... I like your channel , you take time to research things , and have great content. I have a grapple, use it frequently, but never thought about the float position on the loader. Just to let you know,....you DID teach an old dog a new trick!! Good stuff, thanks!
Great video. Very informative. I have a 2018 BX2380 and love it. I’m not doing all sorts of work like you are both I would love to, I just need to finally buy an acreage. Lol. I just recommended your Channel to my brother who have just purchased 106 acreages in Nova Scotia. He will be a first time tractor owner and I believe your videos will be invaluable to him, as he will be doing work similar to what you are doing on your acreage. He is considering a Kubota LX2610. My BX2380 is an open tractor and you are 100% correct. Too have a heated / AC cab is the way to go. I should have bought the cab with my BX in 2018 as today, the cab is double the price. Once again, great videos!
Good afternoon Gord. You did a great job covering your grapple and many points to consider before buying the one you may need the most. You really do a great job operating your tractor and your equipment. We appreciate your taking the time to pass on your valuable information. Thanks for sharing with, time to gear up for a little cooler weather down here. Fred 👍👍👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks for the video. I am in the market now for a grapple. Perfect timing. Your videos have been a huge help and I enjoy your views of the woods. Thanks and happy holidays.
Not much to say, EXCEPT EXCELLENT VIDEO! Your way of teaching and speaking is superior! I don't know what you did in your former life, but I think if you weren't a teacher, trainer or instructor, you missed your calling. Super job. Makes me wish I owned some land and had a Kubota tractor to make doing the chores go quicker and easier. Thanks.
Hey, Thanks Gord. I never thought about putting the loader in the float position while going for a log. Excellent tip! I have learned so much from you! Cheers!
Thanks GP, I am sure I will be coming back to watch this video again numerous times once my grapple gets here. It looks like it will be February when it arrives, can't wait. Take care, Ben
Great video. You, sir, are a very good teacher. This is a video I will view several times, especially in March 2021. Looks likes you might receive some snow with the storm that will be coming across the U.S. Looks like 2 inches of rain for us. Thanks for doing these videos. They are very helpful.
Thank you very much Jean. Yes indeed - our long term forecast is calling for several days of snow. I think it's time to mount the blower. :)) Stay warm and safe!
Very helpful tips GP. I've not yet got a Grapple, but aim to get one. Most of the time I would have greater need of a grapple than what I'd use my bucket. Thanks my friend.
Great video, Gord! Super job explaining when and where to use the float ... took me a while to figure that out but I take virtually the same approach. Regarding Grapple choices, I spent a long time researching grapples before I made my choice. For readers who might be considering a grapple, here’s the brief summary of my research for some of the major brands... and please note these are sized for compact tractors Artillian: didn’t like their square upper jaw - it doesn’t close tightly on smaller logs and rocks (didn’t see the need for two half-jaws either) Everything Attachments Wicked Root Rake - I initially really liked this one but the more I looked into it, I realized that I didn’t want the tines (teeth, whatever you want to call them) so far apart. If you want to pick up smaller rocks or split wood, much of it will fall between the tines. Land Pride: The SGC10 series is a great match for the L series Kubotas (for reference, I have the Grand L4060) and I almost bought this one. High strength AR400 steel, relatively light, fairly closely spaced tines, good reviews, BUT the backside of the lower jaw is closed off with sheet steel except in the mid area. Sometimes you need to see through the tines to know where your claws are. You can’t see through the openings in the middle because of the nose of the tractor, and you can’t see through the outer part of the grapple because it’s closed off with sheet steel. HLA Light Duty Root Rake (exactly what GP has): “Commercial” (mild) steel but 1/2” thick tines, relatively tightly spaced tines (about 6” apart, one hydraulic cylinder and it’s VERY strong so lots of bite. Great price, same range of jaw opening as the others, and it closes nicely on smaller logs and rocks. Perfect. Bought it. Would do it again without question. I’ve dug out huge boulders that barely fit in the jaws and near the capacity of the loader, but even without a “wrap” on the rock, the jaws will hold their bite. Can you bend the tines? If you wedge in just the right size and shape rock, sure you can.(although mine aren’t bent as bad as Gord’s LOL!) Can they be straightened? Yes, with a really big hammer or hydraulic spreader, but why bother? It still works just fine! And finally, as Gord mentioned, HLA products are made in Ontario, Canada, so good for us Canucks, but also good for our American friends because of the 30% exchange on the dollar in YOUR faviour!) Hope this is helpful for anyone looking to buy a grapple!
Always TOP NOTCH VIDEOS... Thank you for the time taken to put this together. I have an EA Wicked Grapple and love it!! ... We live in "A GREAT TIME" and these toys just keep getting better.
I too have struggled with storage on a pallet and tend to open the jaws and then stand it up on both front and back teeth. Your cradle idea sounds better - I wish you had shown it in use. Good video!
Morning Bluesky - there was a card up in the top right hand side of the screen there, that shows the link to the build video and I demo it on that video. Hope it is helpful - Cheers!
@@GPOutdoors Hi, thanks for your reply. Watched the section 4 times, the link appeared once but did not work and thereafter never appeared again. Very strange but no matter, will do a search through your videos for it. Raining steadily again here in MA with threats of mush/snow later today and tomorrow. Tractor now in driveway with snow pusher mounted awaiting action.
How's she goin'? Way to go GP!!! A great job explaining the ins and outs of operating the grapple!! This video would be a great resource for new, and seasoned, grapple owners!!! Take care!!
My Grand L3560 should arrive at my local dealership in April! complete with front mounted blower , loader and rear box scraper! Ive been watching your videos non stop for quite a while now ! and i do also believe i will go ahead and give Duliban a call regarding tractor protect insurance! thank you so much for all of your insight and great content !
Good video. I store my grapple open, with top and bottom jaws resting on the ground. This keeps it stable, and keeps the cylinders retracted (not exposed to the weather).
You are becoming very proficient with that grapple. With you on the grapple and Biff working the bucket of his Kubota, you guys could knock out any task in a hurry! Great info on the video. Thanks!
good video don't have a grapple would like to have one my wife said have to stop watching your videos I want to many toys lol very good advice thanks so much for sharing have a great day
The one tip I can add look for something that has ar400 Steel for the tines, 2. I prefer the double grapple it tends to hold on even size loads. We have a manufacturer in Deland Florida named The Rake shop. Samuel has exceeded my expectations for strength and durability.
Excellent video. Even though you wish to say it is not instructional, it gives very good opinions on how to use a grapple. My new LS 3172 is sitting outside waiting for me to try it out. Supposed to get snow tomorrow and Friday so it will have to wait until Sat.. Thank you for your advice.
Good content, excellent pointers...practice practice practice! I love my grapple, sometimes it goes as planned and sometimes I’m chasing the load...haha
Hi G.P. great video thanks for sharing I don't have a grapple yet but it's on my wish list. I have to put a third function kit on first. Have a wonderful weekend thanks again
The grapple has been my favorite attachment. I have the Land Pride and would be curious to compare other brands/types. As you may have seen, I used perforated instead of expanded steel for my brush guard. Makes for a slick factory look. Great job on the video, as always!
That you GP for the information so when I get a grapple like yours I got a good start on how to use it. Very interesting video. Did you ever try to straighten the bent teeth or would they break?
Hey,hope you and your family are doing well, I wish I had a loader so I could use your tips!!! I noticed in the beginning your cab was fogging up a bit.... Paul on the island (lol) said that he puts on the air conditioner in colder whether...keeps the cab from to much humidity...it works !!! Keep going my friend!!! Mike
Great tips GP, thanks for sharing. Just curious, were you ever an instructor? You sure have the knack for explaining how things function or should lol. Stay well Cheers
I have a Wicked 55 on my Deere 1023e and frequently max out the lift capability of my tractor on big rocks. Remember that all tractors can curl more weight than they can lift. For big loads (rocks), you rotate your curl forward and come down on the rock from above and grab it tight with the grapple. Then you curl back and you can get a surprisingly big load a few inches off the ground. Then I can slowly move it. Cheers.
Hey GP!
Great video. Don't ever say sorry for a video being "too long!" There is no such thing when it comes to your channel!
God bless. Greeting from Dallas!
LOL! Thanks very much TWG! Cheers to you down in Dallas!
No apologies needed! Very thorough and useful.
Thanks for sharing. Have a nice week.
Cheers and thanks Marc!
Good morning . Thanks for all your efforts and tips . Cheers
Cheers P!
Great video. Very helpful. Thanks
Cheers Mike!
Really good tips this morning GP, especially using the float position 👍🏻
Been waiting a month for my new grapple on my new LX2610, thanks for the help!
Grapples a really nice it took me a while to get used to it but I love it now I have it on my John Deere tractor works great

As always you are informative, cool, calm, peacful, and collected. I love it and you speak unity. Keep going my man.
Thanks very kindly Ralph! Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
Excellent demonstrations of using your grapple, thanks for sharing.
Grapple is 1 of the best attachments you will ever own love mine
GP, again.... I like your channel , you take time to research things , and have great content. I have a grapple, use it frequently, but never thought about the float position on the loader. Just to let you know,....you DID teach an old dog a new trick!! Good stuff, thanks!
LOL! Why thanks very much John! A subscriber taught me that a while ago. Cheers and thanks for the smile !
Very informative, explained extremely well and the perfect length. Thanks 👍👍👍
Good video. Definitely 100% agreed... If you are going to use a grapple, you need to install a front grill guard.
LOL! You bet. I need to get mine done soon. Cheers!

Another great video. You sure have a ton of work around your property. Great tips.
4:59 One of the single most important, and often most difficult to comprehend, considerations when working a grapple. Well done GP. Enjoyed it!
Thanks Mitch! Hope you are keeping well. Have a good one!
Appreciate your sharing your experience and knowledge 👍🤠👏
Thanks for the video. I am in the market now for a grapple. Perfect timing.
Your videos have been a huge help and I enjoy your views of the woods. Thanks and happy holidays.
Thanks Mike! Good luck with your research - lots of different videos out there to see how the different models look and work. Happy Holidays!

Hey, Thanks Gord. I never thought about putting the loader in the float position while going for a log. Excellent tip! I have learned so much from you! Cheers!
Thanks Michael. I learned that from one of our friends on the channel a while ago. :)) Cheers!
Thanks GP,

Moved a bunch of brush today and I used the float tip. Worked awesome... Thank you!!!
Good stuff Dustin. I am happy it was helpful. I learned it from one of our subscribers. Cheers!

Thanks for the kind comment - I greatly appreciate it. :))
Thanks GP another great video I’ve been thinking about getting a grapple and this is a huge help. Have a great weekend and cheers
Great job, Gord! Very clear, concise and detailed. A great “how-to” for us weekend warriors. Well done! 👍
Thanks James!

Great explanation Gord, Thanks for the tips.
Thank you for the info. I was looking at a fork grapple but you've changed my mind into getting a root grapple instead. Great tips.
Great share. Thanks for the videos
Great talk, GP. That grapple is so amazing. You picked a great one.
Very helpful tips GP. I've not yet got a Grapple, but aim to get one. Most of the time I would have greater need of a grapple than what I'd use my bucket. Thanks my friend.
Great tip with the float position!
