      I would like to suggest the topic of Ichibei's inner nature, he seems like the most evil character in Bleach. Consider that a bankai reflects what a shinigami thinks is needed to win a battle.
      For Ichigo its staying power, using energy efficiently to protect others for however long. Yammamoto instead believes its the capacity for relentless violence, to keep causing damage until the opponent is reduced to dust. Unohana sees it as all consuming bloodlust.
      But what does winning a battle mean to Ichibei ? Stripping an opponent of their agency and identity, then condemning them to being imprisoned in whatever role in the system he chooses, that is what Shirafude Ichimonji ultimately does. Its psychotic, dehumanizing and utterly evil. I think analyzing Ichibei holistically would be interesting and terrifying.

    Ichibei is shown to know the forbidden kidou. People forget that these include the literal ability to teleport and manipulate time. Nah chief I think that was just a joke. That makes 0 sense and would be a huge unnecessary retcon. I’m not saying that as a jab to Ichibei’s power but it literally just makes no sense. The context of that scene is Ichigo can’t hear his name yet
      Edit I looked it up and it doesn’t say that Yhwach was the name blacked out and it was Kubo just answering a random question from a fan. That’s why I think it’s a joke, it’s not something he came up with

    Considering Ichibe's ink is not actually ink but instead is "darkness", I do not think it could dry up. At the same time, Yammamoto's fire is not real fire, but instead his own reiatsu heated up and given the properties of flame. So the question is, can reiatsu affect something so abstract as color?

    Ichibei is a primordial being who has been around AT LEAST MILLIONS of years, the monk who named everything in Soul Society which includes everything Yamamoto can do, has total dominion over those things he named, sealed the medallion that contained Yamamoto's bankai which people seems to forget and was effortlessly destroying Yhwach till Yhwach activated a power that is directly associated to The Soul King himself, the God or closest to God of the verse. If that is what it takes to beat Ichibei at bare minimum then I don't see how Yamamoto or anyone can beat him outside Ichigo in his current bankai. STRENGTH : Ichibei with his massive palm pushes Yhwach Bach (as nodt, cang du, mask de masculine, 2nd invasion dead soldiers absorbed) by about the distance between australia - japan, and twice, yamamoto's strength feat is cutting a fake yhwach in half and beating a fodder aizen cyborg (wonderweiss), so ichibei wins this
    SPEED: Yamamoto's best speed feat is catching up with shunsui real fast and he gets speedblitzed 3 times by 1st invasion Yhwach Bach, ichibei reacts to Yhwach's attacks and deflects them in time, speedblitzes Yhwach 3-4 times and more, Ichibei wins
    DURABILITY : Yamamoto can take a punch, aizen showed it
    ichibei pretty much got annihilated instantly by yhwach with the almighty, but thats another level of power compared to FKT Aizen, and ichibei deflects blut vene ahnaben instantly and resists it so, mixed
    ENDURANCE: Yamamoto is a fair choice, and so is Ichibei
    EXPERIENCE: Obviously Ichibei
    IQ: Obviously Ichibei
    BATTLE IQ: Obviously Ichibei
    ABILITES : Yamamoto cannot erase Ichimonji's ink as yamamoto cant erase concepts, and ichibei manipulates the concept of black itself, AND like yhwach felt it, if youre even wearing the slightest touch of black on your clothes, ichimonji already hit you, yama got a complete dark robe so....
    Yama can't use his shikai & bankai either as ichibei can literally just cut the name of his zanpakuto in half
    Kido: Yamamoto isn't bad at it, but Ichibei knows secret & forbidden kidos and can use kidos strong enough to annihilate 2nd invasion Yhwach who is miles stronger than 1st invasion Yhwach's attacks, so..
    RESISTANCE: Your fatigue doesnt determine this, Yamamoto would've gotten cut in half anyway from that range by Yhwach Bach, Ichibei did get instantly blown up by the almighty, but you dont compare TA Yhwach Bach to 1st invasion Yhwach's strength, Ichibei wins
    WINNER: ICHIBEI, LOW DIFFICULTY

      I’m sorry but you just made up a bunch of fan theories in order to prop up Ichibei 😂 it’s interesting, because in WDKALY the Royal Guard is in full on propaganda mode saying they defeated Yhwach and the elite quincy by themselves, I guess if we take that “version” of Ichibei into consideration, he solos the entire verse and your assessment would be correct, too bad he’s in actuality a slimy fraud.
      Yhwach does not get stronger, he does not even get the powers of these quincies himself, he just instills a piece of his soul in order to give them their natural powers, akin to a zanpakutou, once he removes that piece of his soul, a fragment of still silver forms in the quincies and they die, but Yhwach cannot get that power himself, he only takes back his soul fragment, he can only redistribute it to others with his Auswahlen, not himself, that’s the limitation he has as a special quincy. The only reason he takes those fragments is to avoid regressing back to his younger self, who was practically blind and paralyzed. Yhwach was not “miles stronger”, he was even weaker, since he lost his volstanding.
      How do you even rate Ichibei’s speed and durability compared to Yamamoto when he fought Yhwach in the Royal Realm, a place that has a considerably higher amount of reimyaku than Soul Society, naturally boosting a shinigami’s reiatsu in the process? Why does Sasakibe attacking Yhwach from behind a coward move, when Ichibei’s entire spiel is to weaken Yhwach, because he cannot beat him at full strength? Sounds hypocritical to me, one gets a pass, the other, no. Is it because that’s all of Ichibei’s moveset? Then what’s stopping Sasakibe from having lighting fast attacks to surprise his opponents? No, there’s no bigger coward than Ichibei, he was even willing to have Ichigo dead for literally nothing, as he knew he couldn’t win, but still couldn’t come up with a plan vs Yhwach.
      Besides, Bleach’s battles are battles of reiatsu, it just means that Yhwach wasn’t durable enough to tank the attack from Sasakibe, nor fast enough to detect him. Good, maybe Ichibei should learn a lesson from him.
      Oh, and Yhwach had the Almighty, you can see it clearly in Bazzb flashback, the 1,000 years (999 actually) thing only happens after he was defeated by Yamamoto. Not that it matters, I mean😅 read what Yhwach says, he can counter every abilities he see with his eyes, cool, now ask why he’d prefer using the bankai stealing medallion that blocks his volstanding, rather than the Almighty against pure heat, an ability that he can’t even see in the first place 😂
      Tell you what, change it to no diff, and Yama over Ichibei and you get that right, we can talk again after Ichibei is able to damage Yhwach at full strength like Sasakibe did.
      Oh, and regarding kido? I don’t think it matters much in a battle, but just to rub it in, 13th blades describe Yamamoto’s 4 Shinigamies aspects of combat as the best of everyone else, that not only puts him above people like Ichibei in kido (who didn’t even get a paragraph of him being so strong in anything) but above Tessai too with his crazy space time manipulation stuff.
      THE AUDACITY of Ichibei fans, I never see Mayuri fans saying he’s stronger than Zaraki due to him paralyzing him, yet Ichibei has to be taken into serious consideration just because he’s weakening those he cannot beat fair and square lmao. And that Yhwach can’t even access volstanding, AND still can’t get the job done.

    Finally, the breakdown that everyone has been waiting for

  • @udiin6518
    @udiin6518 Год назад +23

    i think this is pretty spot on. There's obviously always certain grey areas that remain open to interpretation (i.e. always interpret in favour of your preferred character...), but ultimately ichibei essentially showcases superiority in every form of shinigami art in the one fight he gets - which was basically against an opponent perfectly designed to counter him mind you
    Hakuda
    Yama vs Wonderweiss was simply awesome the whole way through, but then we have ichibei smacking Yhwach thousands of miles away, crushing his throat and pushing out his invasive power just by flexing his left arm. Hard to give the nod to Yama, especially given the gap in power between their respective opponents
    Kido
    Yama is obviously a master of kido, but then Ichibei casually pulls out a previously unknown branch of kido, spell no 3 of which was strong enough to shatter the real Yhwach's blut vene (and if its anything like regular kido then this would be one of the weakest in the series...). Again goes to Ichibei
    Shunpo
    Both top tier obviously but Ichibei instantly catching up to the Yhwach he smacked 1000 ri away is again also leagues above anything we've seen Yama do (doesn't mean he can't match it, but we haven't seen that). Has to be given to Ichibei
    Zanpaktou
    agree with basically everything you said in the video. If we assume Ichibei's "ink" is really just the actual liquid ink and accept all Yama's superlative statements as complete fact, you can argue Yama stalemates Ichibei for a while here with ZnT West. But Yama can't stay in that form forever, and if they simply wait until everything burns up then yama dies and ichibei gets revived after pestering someone somewhere to call his name. If we take the "ink" as more conceptual in nature (in line with the rest of Ichibei's bizarre powers) then this isn't even a contest. There's also the point that Yhwach notably didn't use ZnT against Ichibei even though he had it - narratively, if it WAS an effective counter i'm sure he would have loved the irony of taking down the leader of the shinigami with a shinigami blade.
    I'll give this one a tie to be diplomatic since there are some grey areas, but still don't see a win condition for yama
    Unknowns
    - again as you noted in the video, what is the extent of ichibei's knowledge / power over zankaptous? he named them, knows all their true names and therefore their powers, would he in fact be able to control or interfere with them to some extent? If he can again this is a no contest. To a lesser extent this question also applies to anything else shinigami use (kidou etc) since Ichibei also named those...
    - Ichibei's bankai isn't properly explored vs Yhwach since he only zips into it briefly before reverting back to Shikai for his mausoleum technique. What are the limits of his power-granting? the ability to potentially give anything a new name - and the power associated with it - are terrifying.
    - Ichibei also shows some sort of power manifestation ability in base where he writes characters and has that manifested into reality (e.g. hiding the true Soul Palace from the Quincy by writing the character for "hide" with his brush). Again, presumably this has some limits but its just another vague conceptual power he flings around along with everything else
    - Yama has more battle experience than literally anyone else in the verse, EXCEPT probably Ichibei. Taking CFYOW as canon, he's kept watch over the Soul King and the worlds for 1 million+ years, and yet he's still maintained the peace. Seems unlikely he hasn't had to battle against some pretty monstrous foes in that time. If he didn't simply defeat them with raw power then he probably developed into a very crafty combatant with all sorts of preparation / countermeasures in place (Yhwach had him noted as a war power because of his wisdom rather than his strength, after all...). Yama is the epitome of straight up firepower, and despite his age he has been shown to act in rash and impassioned ways several times in the series.
    All in all, would be an absolute joy to see animated but fundamentally Ichibei seems to be a step ahead in every metric. If anything Yama's real problem was just that his feats were shown too early in the story...had he got involved in the action at the time when the ridiculous broken powers of characters were being revealed (Elites & Jugram, Aizen & Almighty Yhwach in full flow) no doubt Kubo would have given him something on that tier as well to match

    • @PDro11
      @PDro11 Год назад +3

      Well put together. One thing to note is that prior to the release of Ichimonji, Ichibei was drawing characters into the air and manifesting a giant hand. In sealed state. His power seems pretty conceptual in nature given he can do that with air, so why would fire be an exception? Yama would put up a great fight, but Ichibei would likely crush him.

    • @udiin6518
      @udiin6518 10 месяцев назад +2

      @@PDro11 yeah to be honest i'm personally not sold at all on the idea of Ichibei's "ink" literally being liquid ink, it would very much go against the whole conceptual shtick of his powerset. i think its one of many headcanons that certain fans developed over the years as the series went on and it became increasingly difficult to argue Yama was still (or, in fact, was ever...) the strongest shinigami as he had always been portrayed. Still incredibly powerful of course, but he was introduced quite early and, well, its the shonen way for everyone to get stronger and stronger the longer the series goes on...

Ichibei's power is black, not "black ink". It just turns out that "black ink" is the easiest way to perceive it and wield Ichibei's power. Therefore, Yamamoto's zanpakutou can't evaporate a conceptual existence of black. I am digressing at this point, it feels like Ichibei's power sort of breaks the fourth wall, as in his brush is akin to Tite Kubo's tool of trade, the pen for his drawings. One thing people never bring up is the fact Yamamoto was missing his arm during his fight, and as we know a Shinigami's power can be cut significantly with even one arm restricted, on top of that fact I do believe Ichibe is more dangerous to Yhwach, Yamamoto has the higher destructive power and possibly is transcendent (based on Shunsui not getting any stronger but being capable of fighting one of the strongest of the Sternritters), with one arm you could argue he's just below that but I'd still place him with Shikai above Ichigo at that point (when he fought Yhwach the first time), while Ichibe power wise is within the same realm as Yamamoto, but not equal in power and I do believe he wins unless Zanka no Tachi is used, I believe he needs to actually touch the blade or Yamamoto to alter anything, but the ink itself would be ineffective and dry up immediately, and the closer they are the worse things could get but otherwise, Ichibe wins but Yamamoto has a slight chance of winning if he's to fight strategically rather than straightforward, a battle with Ichibe against other top tiers will always come down to their abilities because power alone isn't going to work unlike with most other people who are relative.

    I would say it may be a draw and depends who can get the upper hand on each other. People in the soul palace aren't necessarily stronger than the captains in the gotei they just got elevated for "adding" something of significance to soul society. As Aizen has said that a battle between soul reapers is a battle of spiritual pressure. So it would be really hard to tell who would win especially with Yama being at prime. Ichibei can weaken assuming his ink and slash can cut through the intense heat and reiatsu of Yama. Yama would still also have to be careful because he can weaken your abilities and strength. I'd like to think they are equal but with different jobs to protect. The soul palace captains should have teamed up with the Gotei in order to take down Ywach, especially if they knew they were on the losing end and that he would eventually make his way up like he did. Just too much arrogance to really put the pride aside to get the job done, but hey that's anime for you. Lol

    Judging the power of "concept based" abilities is always difficult. Control names, imagine things into reality, change the future, change the past, invert "anything" (I think Shinji can do that if he trains his Bankai), etc. All these can counter any "non concept based" ability if used in the right way.

    Here are things to note:
    1. In the anime, even the sword is covered in fire as the fight was going on. Which goes to the point it's just the option of whether Yama wants to make the fire visible on his sword or not.
    2. I'd say, yes, Yama would go into bankai immediately. Yhwach and ichibe being comparable puts you to assume that Yama can distinguish who it is he wishes to fight seriously.
    3. A major misconception around ichibe is that, people believe ichibe has full governance of "names" or has an absolute control over "darkness and names". Which isn't the case. Ichibe has command over it, but not absolute control over it. If he had the absolute command on all of the names, he could very well devoid yhwach of reiatsu by taking away the powers of reiatsu or he could have just taken away yhwach's powers, which we also see not being the case as yhwach could give himself powers often.
    4. Ichibe isn't an overly out of reach being, he too is at the verge of transcendence just like Yama and yhwach were. They never crossed that border (yhwach only crossed it because he absorbed reio and mimihagi). And that brings to also the point that, despite ichibe having the power to revive himself, he can only revive himself by drawing out a small portion of reiatsu from the one who called his name. And he is not in his peak strength as he revives as he did tell ichigo that he (ichibe) has to recover his lost powers back.
    5. Also, in ichibe's case, mausoleum is an absolute powerhouse, and if Yama is indeed hit, he'll be defeated. But that being said, the incantation for it is far too long and ichibe just seems like a sitting duck while he is conjuring the darkness from 100 days into the soul society's future
    Since the picture (the characters and their abilities) is ambiguously painted (portrayed) [which is what Kubo intends on with his writing style], based on how you perceive given events, you can reach different conclusions altogether.

    • @QrowxClover
      @QrowxClover Год назад +2

      Ichibei does have full control over both. HOWEVER, his ability doesn't work on full power pieces of Reio. Ichibei never tried to take away Yhwach's Reiatsu or powers, so it's not like he couldn't. When Yhwach beat Ichibei, Ichimonji was negated, and at that point Ichibei couldn't do anything. If Ichibei actually wanted to, Yhwach's Reiatsu would've been gone the second he got hit.
      Ichibei was also transcendent relative to Yhwach. This puts him above characters like Mugetsu Ichigo, who were transcendent to normal Shinigami Captains. Transcendence is really just relativity. If you're a lot stronger than your opponent, you're transcendent to them. Ichibei being transcendent to Yhwach makes him the highest level character we've seen so far, since even EOS Aizen and Ichigo weren't stated to be transcendent to him. You could pin this on Yhwachs power increase, but all that does is make Ichibei equal to the two of them instead of far above them.
      Ichibei wins, because his Reiatsu is far higher, and because a single hit from him will seal Yama's abilities and he'll get one shot. He's stronger than him without the hax, with the hax Yama has no chance.

    • @sladew9788
      @sladew9788 Год назад

      @@QrowxClover all of those points are actually inaccurate.
      1. Ichibe has command over darkness and names, not absolute authority over them. Ichibe despite saying yama's name couldn't revive back Yama because Yama isn't bound to reio (the linchpin) like the members of RG are. Each of the members of RG are given a title by reio, allowing ichibe to freely revive them even if they die as long as the linchpin exists. So, fundamentally, the command on his powers are tied to reio's existence, so his powers cannot be destroyed/negated because his opponents have reio's fragments. You wouldn't say that child rangiku can negate ichibe's powers because child rangiku had reio's fragments or that the fullbringers as weak as chad, moe, riruka, giriko can outright negate ichibe's powers, right?? Ikomikidomoe didn't break ichibe's seal because reio fragments negated ichibe's powers. Ikomikidomoe broke the seal because when a hollow consumes even a small fragment of reio, they recieve a massive power amp (which is why hollows are attracted towards the reio fragments). The power amp they get is far massive than consuming another hollow (which can have hundreds of thousands of souls within it). That's why ikomikidomoe broke ichibe's seal, because when it consumed few of reio's fragments, it gained a massive amp to reiatsu capable of breaking ichibe's seals. Also, ichibe has no command on reiatsu at all. He can't ink reiatsu nor has he had any strength or feats of being capable of removing it's properties either. He can do it to reiatsu that has a physical form (such as kidos and buildings which are reishi in physical manner), but he has no feats of being capable of doing it to something that has no physical existence such as intangible reiatsu.
      2. Ichibe isn't transcendent being either. He, just like base/Quincy king yhwach and Yama are at the bottleneck/limit of their existence. Ichigo became transcendent because he was already biologically (in terms of soul) was an entity most closest to reio, aizen became transcendent due to evolution and already entered the same realm as reio (not same power level, but as existence), and yhwach became a transcendent being upon consuming reio and parts of mimihagi. In terms of relativity, Yama, ichibe, and Quincy king yhwach are pretty much on the same league. Ichibe in no shape or form is anywhere close to EoS ichigo or aizen. Both ichigo and aizen have feats of being capable of affecting SK version of Yhwach (ichigo by the feats of being able to cut yhwach in a single blow, and aizen by the feats of affecting yhwach with KS). Heck, when True shikai ichigo stopped suppressing himself as he was challenging SK yhwach, byakuya straight up says that ichigo's reiatsu is as massive as yhwach's. And urahara even stated that the glimpse of power that aizen showed when he used kurohitsugi, aizen's power had already surpassed that of mugetsu ichigo.
      3. Yama and ichibe have literally relative reiatsu capacity. If you want to contest on the point that Yama fought yhwach without almighty because anime didn't show "3 pupils per eye". Then keep in mind that when yhwach tanked all of ichibe's attack in chapter 609 pages 8-12 the manga clearly shows us that yhwach tanked all of it without activating almighty. As page 12 panel 2 is when yhwach manually activated his almighty (which takes place after being crushed by ichibe's series of attacks). You then have a panel of ichibe's powers stopping to work against yhwach when yhwach actually makes a straight contact on ichibe a couple of pages later. Up until that point, ichibe's ink were on yhwach, but the moment yhwach looks at ichibe, the ink disappears. Again showing yhwach tanked ichibe's strongest set of attacks without almighty. So, in terms of "relativity" we already saw him actually being relative to base yhwach. In terms of hax, ichibe only has command over it, as yhwach could straight up cancel the effects of ichimonji even before he used almighty. And let's not forget, ichibe needs to mark his opponent for his shikai to ink that person and then use bankai, which requires to make a physical connect against yama's sun armour. So, ichibe's ichimonji would get the same treatment as what yhwach's (loyd royd's) sword got.

      @@sladew9788 1.) That logic doesn't work. Bleach has a system of reincarnation, and Ichibei and the rest of the Zero Division are outside of that. Ichibei can't revive anyone else. And yes, they are outside of it because of Reio. However, that doesn't mean Ichibei doesn't have full control, it means his power can't do literally everything. It's a limit to his power that Reio lets him get past. "You wouldn't say child Rangiku...". No, I wouldn't. Because unlike Yhwach, who is a massive part of Reio, Rangiku had a nail. Ichibei's abilities would be less effective on her and Fullbringers, yes, but they don't have enough Reio or enough Reiatsu to negate Ichimonji. Being a part of Reio isn't enough, you need Reiatsu too. Ikomikidomoe broke out because he got enough power and had Reio fragments, not just because of his power. "He can't ink Reiatsu". True, but he can ink the person he's fighting, and if he removes their name, their Reiatsu disappears too. That's why Ichibei is such a terrifying opponent. He takes away what makes you you, and that includes your ability to fight.
      2.) Transcendence isn't a level of existence, it's just a relative power level. I refuse to buy into that 5d Ichigo bullshit because of a statement from Aizen. If it had been from Kisuke, sure. It's not a level of existence. When you're strong enough, your Reiatsu is no longer possible to be felt by your opponent. In terms of relativity, Yama is at or below Yhwach's level, and Yhwach is far below Ichibei. Ichibei was so strong that his Reiatsu couldn't be felt by Yhwach. That's how strong he was. It's also the reason I'm not buying into the 5d Ichigo bullshit, because the "existence level" can't apply to Ichibei and he had the trademark passive of a transcendent character. You sure about that? Ichibei was pretty dang confident in his ability to come down to SS, take out Aizen, Ichigo, and Renji, and use Ichigo as the next Reio had Yhwach not be suitable. In terms of Reiatsu feats, Ichibei is among the highest just because of his relativity to Yhwach. While Ichigo and Aizen fought a stronger Yhwach, they also weren't shitstomping like Ichibei did in a 3v1, nor were either of them so much stronger than Yhwach couldn't feel their Reiatsu. And yeah, Byakuyas statement helps here. If Ichigo and stronger Yhwach are equal, and Ichibei is far above weaker Yhwach, Ichibei is probably equal to Ichigo at this point in Reiatsu. Mugetsu Ichigo is base or Shikai Ichigo level, we know that, so obviously both are stronger than that.
      3.) Yhwach did fight Yama without Almighty, otherwise Ichibei would've known about it because he sees all in SS. Yhwach also was facing a casual Ichibei, so that doesn't work. And of course he wasn't using Almighty to tank, that's not how that power works. Anyways, Ichibei's ink is ranged and pure Reiatsu, so it wouldn't be burned. And his sword is also a lot more durable because Ichibei is stronger than Loyd and his Reiatsu is constantly running through his sword. While you could say that the sword wouldn't be able to touch Yama, the ink would, so Yama can't get close either. It's a stalemate or Ichibei wins; Yama has no win condition.

      @@QrowxClover 1. the one's outside of reincarnation cycle are those appointed by reio himself. and again, he has control and command on the darkness and names, but he doesn't have absolute authority over it. we literally see him fail anyways. yhwwch is not a part of reio and has never been said to be so. he is the son of reio. exactly!! the reio fragments ≠ negate ichibe's powers, it just means that hollows who consume reio fragments can immediately amp up their reiatsu to a degree that it breaks the command of power ichibe has. so, it all falls down to the reiatsu yet again. reio fragments by themselves have no role in negating ichibe's powers at all. while ichibe's powers to takes away name is terrifying, it all comes down to who he's fighting. if his opponent is weak, they just won't be able to break out, while that isn't applicable on those who aren't weak. and yama is one of them as his reiatsu is insanely massive to the point he can literally cause a collapse of ss itself. that's not a feat of "insignificant reiatsu".
      2. transcendence is indeed a level of power. And no, ichigo isn't 5D, but he is very well a 4D being (in dangai/Mugetsu, and true zanpakto forms). His powers challenge against yhwach who as the new soul king has the power to rewrite the reality they currently live in. And that's a feat beyond that of a 3D being. There are layers in each dimensions, just because a mugetsu was stronger than monster aizen doesn't mean he reached a new dimension, it just means ichigo was on a higher layer within the same dimension. Aizen himself calls becoming transcendent as a going beyond the limits of a being you are, a 3D being no matter how strong they get can't break out of their own existence until they break into a higher dimension. Reio himself can easily be placed as a being beyond 4D because of his absolute power to mold the world in any manner using almighty and even declaring/establishing laws and rules to this creation. That's not even true, if yhwach was far weaker than ichibe, ichibe wouldn't even have taken a slight bit of damage from yhwach at all. But we see that to be false yet again as yhwach was immediately able to pierce ichibe using his reishi arrow. If you are not relative in reiatsu, the unconscious release of reiatsu breaks the weaker ones attack without any efforts and this is an established point we see multiple times within the story. the point of "not being able to sense reiatsu" is a discarded point. We have urahara state that muken aizen had surpassed the version of ichigo who fought aizen. This statement is very crucial as the only versions of ichigo that were "stronger" than aizen were dangai and mugetsu. Showing that urahara was able to determine how strong mugetsu was, and muken aizen's glimpse of power surpassed that. We see this happen multiple times. Even in HM arc, we have characters not being able to sense zaraki's presence at all as he swooped in to save Ichigo from nnoitora. And Zaraki shows the same feet even in TYBW arc. The ability to not sense is just because the reiatsu is in passive state and not rippling. Also, ichibe's fight was very relative even again base yhwach. Meanwhile, ichigo actually had the power to harm yhwach, and even force yhwach to preemptively break his bankai as he feared it's ability to change future. And ofc, SK yhwach is on another level of power than base/Quincy king yhwach. Ichibe fought, lost the fight and lost all will to continue against Quincy king yhwach. Meanwhile, even with just ⅓ of ichigo's true powers, he was still capable of OHKO yhwach twice. It's just yhwach's hax triumphed over that if Ichigo and aizen.
      3. The anime isn't really faithful adaptation. And yhwach had the power of clairvoyance only as the Quincy king. He didn't had the power to alter anything. The power of clairvoyance can't be known by anyone other than the user himself. Also, the point of "ichibe would have known" doesn't really work anyways because even when yhwach showed almighty to him in their fight, ichibe still didn't realise what he was fighting, especially knowing that ichibe has existed since the same time period as reio and should have known about reio's almighty, especially when it's stated that the new world reio created was using almighty's powers. Regardless, even if we assume, Yama won against base yhwach (however dumb it maybe), ichibe still couldn't defeat the same base yhwach anyways. Yhwach completely tanked ichibe's full barrage while still being in base. And let's just say that yhwach's 1000 year cycle ended right before he was hit. And yhwach regained his strength and physical attributes from 1000 years ago, which helped him tank ichibe's attack (in a similar manner where ikomikidomoe broke ichibe's seal, assuming, yhwach after 1000 year cycle returned back to how strong he was in terms of reiatsu etc, and his reiatsu over powered ichibe's seal). Even then, we are still in the contest that, Yama absolutely crushed that base version of yhwach, meanwhile, ichibe lost because he couldn't overpower that very same base yhwach. (Contd.)

Side note, I just find it nice that technically these two characters are two separate sides of the coin. In fact, I'd expand on that and say Yamamoto is secretly the sixth member of the Zero Squad who's main role is to lead the Gotei 13. Being a top notch expect in Zanjutsu, Hakuda, Hoho, and Kido, he is represented as the peak of pure shinigami strength. This is why Aizen was afraid of fighting hi m one-on-one, and why Yhwach was very careful in dealing with him. Yamamoto is the guard that stands between the Royal Palace and any would-be intruders. He may have gotten a bit soft at the end (as depicted by Yhwach), but he's still a monster of raw strength nonetheless.

A vaguely person shaped pillar of flame isn't as cool as one with a sword and a head that's staring holes through you. In actual practice it'd all be flame.
    Also I do wonder if Yamamoto's missing arm factors into it. It would hinder his unarmed combat, though I do wonder if he'd even get to use that against Ichibei.
    In Bankai, Yamamoto's sword should basically incinerate anything it touches, so it should at least be able to block if not damage Ichibei's by striking the handle of the brush and avoiding the head.

Considering this, it's entirely feasible that he could rename an object to have all the same powers as Yama's bankai if he wills it. He could literally have his own shikai/bankai, as well as Yama's if he dual wields zanpakutos. Or he could rename the skin on his body to grant himself complete immunity to fire.

      yeah the potential of Ichibei's bankai isn't really explored, but given the strength of his shikai it would be unlikely it was anything less than god-like when used to its full capacity

      but for that to happen ichibies ink or zanpaktou would have to touch yamamato. yamamato cannot and has not been touched while his bankai is active in its full power

      @@uptown2029 Why would it have to touch Yamamoto? He's not trying to rename Yamamoto, he'd be renaming a different object to give it the same name (and powers) as Yama's sword. No Yama touching required.

      @@-Keith- he would essentially merc himself like the sternritter with imagination whose physical composition couldn't withstand himself imagining that he was the monster zaraki kenpachi. So imitation i feel is out the door here.

    I hate when people propose this debate like Ichibei can’t just use his Ichimonji to permanently remove the words “Ashes” which nerfs Ryujin Jakka’s release command “Turn all things in this world to a-“ or even scarier “Bankai” since Ichibei doesn’t use the word Bankai but rather “Shinuchi” which was the first & original command to access Ichimonji’s second stage. Removing Bankai not only nerfs Yamamoto but even the rest of the Squad 0 because Senjumaru confirmed that the holy guardians of the North, East, South, & West use the modern term for their zanpakuto while the Manako Osho is safe using his own special release.

    Totally amazing breakdown and I liked how you included your theory on certain instances. While I agree that Ichibe would win Yamo is my favorite character so I’m hopeful!

    I'd be curious on Ichibei vs Barragan. Powerwise, it's not the same, but I do wonder if Resperia would be a better defense. 🤔

      Ichibei would likely backhand the respira away as in the novels it’s stated that kenpachi would likely just be able to cut through respira

      people out here speculating abilities vs abilities, the most imporant thing is always Power level, you cant put a 100 PL against 1000 PL and expect the guy to win.
      Baragan was on par with Ikomikidomoe who was sealed by Ichibei and required eating Hikone reaitsu to even break the seal that was placed on him by Ichibei

      Considering a few soul reapers needed to use Bankai immediately to fight a bunch of characters in their base forms.
