That interior does make it look so much better and the transformation this car has gone thru is epic. Hopefully the "Bismerc" stays around for a while.
Amazing - the interior looks fantastic. With a bit of leather filling and re-dye it will be mint !! Love these longer vids where we get to see exactly what work is involved to get to the finished result 🙂
For really cheap you can buy a set of plastic panel pullers and wedges etc and save on using metal screw drivers etc on plastic parts. Looks so much better after the change.
I had a W124T (manual) when my first child was born with a cloth interior pretty much like yours. Subsequently I have had an S210, S211 and my current S212, all autos and crucially all leather. Kids and cloth seats do not go together, leather looks and feels much more high end. The bismerc looks superb now.
And thats how the benz got out of the factory!!!!!! Very very Nice car, i can’t find a nice one in the Netherlands for a good price, thats the best car ever made and that says a Volvo man, realy its the w124 Mercedes! Enjoy the car and i see the next video , from the Ferrari or the Benz, Greetz from the Netherlands , ramon
I like seeing you discovering and dealing with the problems as they arise, as opposed to cutting them out and acting like it was all a piece of cake. The leather is much better!
Despite the video being around 5 month's time frame, but the assembly of the interior for leather seats on the Mercedes does make a major difference. 10/10 stars vid!!!
I always recommend leather. Ironically I've only had it in one car, till now, in my old 2nd hand 1986 Metro Vanden Plas. Cream leather seats, walnut dash, electric windows, I thought I was the shizz :) All my other cars have had cloth interior until my Ssangyong Tivoli. It's reminded me why I love leather. Definitely makes you feel better and lifts the car to a luxury level.
I've always heard good things about the kits from the furniture clinic, they tend to know what colours are correct for each car by brand and age. The leather really has lifted the car, top job! Shame about the glass.
Well done Jack it's no fun taking out a car interior as a a car valeting buissness owner I have done it many times to in the past it's seems now people are keeping their cars better here in Ireland but it was always a achievement to have a dirty back to showroom so well done
Oh wow! Looks so much better Jack…i was a bit dubious about you changing the cloth as it was very vintage Merc but the leather lifts the lux level matey.
:Love these longer, detailed videos; they make you feel as if you're part of a nice days tinkering. It's the taking things apart and figuring out how to restore stuff that makes it so interesting and your manner of presenting is always fun to watch.
Congratulations on the amazing transformation of your Merc Jack!! I hated it when you first bought it but so glad you did, you've given this car a new new life!! It's really a timeless and classy car. Look forward to seeing it with new tail lights and grille etc😊👍
Thank you for this thorough walkthrough. It gave me the confidence and motivation to remove the rear seats and panels for my long delayed sound system install.
You helped me understand how to replace the “triangle” trim piece between the rear side windows and the shoulder belt housing! Now I can replace the nasty one on my otherwise very nice C124 Sportline. OctoClassic makes the parts using 3D printing.
You have taken this car 10,000 miles forward! Definitely a keeper do not decide to sell it unless you are going to give it away to one of your favourite subscribers 😜
I have to confess that I was in the ‘leave the cloth trim in’ camp, but seeing that leather interior, I’m convinced you’ve done the right thing. I’m also really glad that you thoroughly vacced the carpet after removing the seats…failure to do so would have really triggered my OCD!
Wow, the old girl looks amazing Jack. Brilliant effort. Great video too - I love seeing the trials and tribulations you endure to get to the end goal. 😀
I love the cloth interior so much more than leather; it is so much more Mercedes than leather which seems to come in all cars nowadays. But after your work it looks good now keen to see you fix the cracking in the leather.
Usually those vertical scratches are done by dirty, dust and/or sand contaminated exterior dew squeegees. Have a look. Unfortunately, you would have to remove again the glasses to clean or change them... Duh. 😳
Leather interior looks great. So much better than the cloth interior. Looks almost like a nice car now :-). Who would have thought after the make over it had been given by the previous owner.
Well done! I do love the old Mercedes cloth seats, specially when they're not faded or damaged, but I agree that leather is on another level. Good thing your interior is grey, because those seats in black leather get really toasty in the Summer... The only thing I'd do more on the interior is remove the black wrap that is still on that thin piece of wood trim that runs across the whole dash, just above the steering wheel.
New interior looks so much better. But I'm with you on preferring cream. A friend often chides me for my love of "beige" interiors, but I'm a sucker for cream leather and wood. It must be my age!
Nice one jack you really have rescued this dream car of mine from a possible bad end if I didn’t have cancer I would have been desperate to buy it from you
I certainly empathize with you on the window replacement. I did the rear door of a 300e sedan and it took 7 hours mainly due to inaccessibility to the places you need to get at. Its funny that MBZ left the armrest on the left seat even on RHD cars!...very cheeky.
These cars in the early 2000s were worth 1500 quid, for someone to actually spend money on one to me is rare. I love the fact you are trying to get this car back on the road, they are great cars.
You obviously did a really great job, however I completely agree with Paul, the fabric seats are so much better, both in comfort and looks. That plastic cap on the seat belt mounting bolt I assume a locking device that connects with the plastic trim cover. The scratches on the drivers door window should polish out with a suitable glass renovating kit. They work wonders.
Looks so much better with leather. The longer episode is good I’m guessing you edited out the hair pulling frustration segments. It’s been a great project I’ve enjoyed following.
Well Jack I was that guy saying keep the cloth interior but I was wrong! The leather does suit the stately vibe of the Bismerc , I thought the length of your video was great Jack ……. I’m sure everyone enjoys watching your content so more is always good! Any chance of adding smellavison so we can all have a sniff of the Bismerc’s interior? 😂👍
Beautifully done! The new leather set suits even more! Gosh I miss my W124 D300. My dad had that for 12 years. In a near future I'm thinking to buy one of this CE for him (and me too 😄😅)
Jack, I reckon you're getting attached to your Bulgarian taxi... I do like the cloth interior, it's cool and hard wearing but even I must admit it does lift the interior. Thanks for showing the centre vent removal as I need to do mine on my 190E. Loved the video BTW!!
Big productive day Jack. I was hoping for the beige interior as it is my preference too but the grey was the wiser choice and it was a big boost. Going to be a challenge to let this one go once it's fighting fit. I really liked the longer format myself.
Thank you! This is amazing. I was looking for this kind of a tutorial for a loooong time! 100% best video on how to take c124 interior apart! I have problems with scratches on rear window on my c124 (facelift model) and now I know how to fix it all thanks to YOU dear sir. Thanks!
There should be springs inside the front seatbelt anchors which spring-load the belt away from passengers getting in the rear seats. The spring goes round that plastic nut cover you queried about.
At first I was like why changing good interior, but man does it look good now. You are really getting into the W124, changing that front glass on coupe is not very easy, it gave me few hours of struggle. Btw that center vent wheel is illuminated.
You can get a product to polish the marks out on the glass to look like new. Worth a look!! Great watching the transformation, keep up the good work. 👍😁
Leather is much better by miles. Sure some might like cloth .but leather is amazing on the w124.i had a 124 cabrio with absolutely wrecked cloth interior that I changed to black leather. It transformed the car completely and the car looked a million dollars more luxurious.not A MILLION but 😅. you have to get the seat belt moving mechanism working. it adds to the soul of the coupe.you will love it. Now you need a smaller steering wheel . Let us know how the front window alignment went once you get driving.check if you have any wind noise.mine on the driver side needs some adjustment to fully close and stop wind noise but the door/window seals are dried and stiff and keeps the door from closing easily when the window is fully closed.
hi Jack, here's a wee tip for removing the instrument cluster, buy two cheap flat head screw drivers and bend the head, insert and give a quarter turn then pull
Not sure if this applies to the 124, but on my 123 you just remove the kick panel that's over your knees, reach up and push the cluster with your hand. Dead easy and no risk of a scratch.
Great video. I was one of the advocates for doing the leather interior. And I was looking forward seeing the (cream-colored?) interior installed. But you're quite right. Grey was the way to go. Well done.
What a transformation! Mercedes-Benz leather is really classy. M-B Tex would be even better, though, as it looks like leather but is practically indestructable.
Thanks to YOU, because it really has been helpfull to me and to understand how to take out the back of the rear sites and many others desmountings details!!! Be fine.
Great vid Jack, your perseverance is definitely paying off, the whole car is such an amazing transformation compared to its original state, you must be proud of the car now. Your vids are perfect lengths and very informative, don't change the formula you got it just right. 👍👍
That interior does make it look so much better and the transformation this car has gone thru is epic. Hopefully the "Bismerc" stays around for a while.
Amazing - the interior looks fantastic. With a bit of leather filling and re-dye it will be mint !!

For really cheap you can buy a set of plastic panel pullers and wedges etc and save on using metal screw drivers etc on plastic parts. Looks so much better after the change.
Well done Jack! I fully agree with you, a leather interior really lifts it up, it looks much better than it did. 👍
Now down that cider.
I miss my old '89 230E. 4-speed manual and no options whatsoever. But it was mine and I loved it.
Amazing car! And leather is always the best choose haha. I did the same in my w116.

The leather interior in the Bismerc really has given it some class. A nice upgrade for sure, and by all means the longer vids are great.
What an upgrade!! You're right - it looks wonderful! You really need to consider keeping this car, as it's quite a special one. Bravo!
Impressive to see the transformation of this car from something the average person would probably steer well clear of to a desirable modern classic.
Much prefer the longer, more involved videos. Absolutely the right decision to go for leather, it looks epic in comparison.
My favourite type of content. A before/after transformation and just the right length of video.
I like seeing you discovering and dealing with the problems as they arise, as opposed to cutting them out and acting like it was all a piece of cake. The leather is much better!
That cloth interior looks awesome. Hope someone else puts it’s in their Mercedes. To each their own.
Despite the video being around 5 month's time frame, but the assembly of the interior for leather seats on the Mercedes does make a major difference. 10/10 stars vid!!!
Changing the interior is the icing on the cake, looks gorgeous!
Interior looks very smart! Nice work! I also enjoyed the longer format with more documentation of the process.
I've always heard good things about the kits from the furniture clinic, they tend to know what colours are correct for each car by brand and age. The leather really has lifted the car, top job! Shame about the glass.

Top job Jack,. Not boring at all, in fact its the exact opposite. The longer the better, really interesting to see in detail how you did it. Thank you
Oh wow! Looks so much better Jack…i was a bit dubious about you changing the cloth as it was very vintage Merc but the leather lifts the lux level matey.
I did really like the cloth interior. However, I think the leather looks even better. Good call. Great effort. Well done.
:Love these longer, detailed videos; they make you feel as if you're part of a nice days tinkering. It's the taking things apart and figuring out how to restore stuff that makes it so interesting and your manner of presenting is always fun to watch.
Mmmmmm rouched leather door cards….. very of its time!
Looks loads better Jack. The BisMerc lives!!
Congratulations on the amazing transformation of your Merc Jack!! I hated it when you first bought it but so glad you did, you've given this car a new new life!! It's really a timeless and classy car. Look forward to seeing it with new tail lights and grille etc😊👍

Wow
What a transformation
A no brainer and not a single reason to think cloth would be better.
Looks more premium now too
Wow, the old girl looks amazing Jack.
Regarding the scratches in the window glass - there's a chance that something like a ceramic coat will make them distinctly less visible. Worth a go!
Usually those vertical scratches are done by dirty, dust and/or sand contaminated exterior dew squeegees. Have a look.
Unfortunately, you would have to remove again the glasses to clean or change them... Duh. 😳
You can probably reduce the scratches quite a bit with a windscreen polishing kit. That would make another video.
Cut n polish the entire car including glass headlight and windows.
Sand and debris caught in window rubber scores the glass during operation.
Looks great Jack, half leather should keep everyone happy 😊
Leather interior looks great. So much better than the cloth interior. Looks almost like a nice car now :-). Who would have thought after the make over it had been given by the previous owner.

Amazing transformation on the Biz-merc! Awesome job!!
Looks fab Jack. And really like the longer video. Thanks.
New interior looks so much better. But I'm with you on preferring cream. A friend often chides me for my love of "beige" interiors, but I'm a sucker for cream leather and wood. It must be my age!
For me definitely was the right car to keep and just gets better and better
Great video, Jack, well done! The new interior really does lift the car. I enjoyed the length of the video and watching the interior come together 👍
Arguably one of Mercedes' best designed cars.
Great video , as I said before delighted that you decided to keep the 124, a super car which will give you years of pleasure
Nice one jack you really have rescued this dream car of mine from a possible bad end if I didn’t have cancer I would have been desperate to buy it from you
Great to see you on the spanners Jack and what an improvement. I really hope you’re going to keep this one.
Perfect length vid, car looks amazing, great viewing. If anything go even more in depth as your working.
Like seeing the work getting done, don't mind the longer video's, 20 mins is probably the longest for most people
It was good to see a bit more of the work that had to be done. The leather interior = much superior!
I’ve used a light grey shoe polish in the past on a car with similar wear on the drivers seat, it was very cheap and very effective
I certainly empathize with you on the window replacement. I did the rear door of a 300e sedan and it took 7 hours mainly due to inaccessibility to the places you need to get at. Its funny that MBZ left the armrest on the left seat even on RHD cars!...very cheeky.
The leather is looking so much better, nice job
Big upgrade! The leather indeed really lifts the whole car. Also, I love the longer videos :)
These cars in the early 2000s were worth 1500 quid, for someone to actually spend money on one to me is rare. I love the fact you are trying to get this car back on the road, they are great cars.
I prefer leather. Proper job. Good luck repairing the driver seat bolster.
Superb Work Jack, even better now! Looks Stunning
Please buy some nylon trim-removal tools. Metal on plastic sends shivers down my spine.
You obviously did a really great job, however I completely agree with Paul, the fabric seats are so much better, both in comfort and looks. Great job Jack!!! It looks much better, for sure!!
Lux for sure, looks great Jack and we'll worth your efforts.
Fantastic transformation Jack looks great

Well worth all the effort! Main dealer would have charged a small fortune. Well done! Another feather in your cap.
That’s a fantastic transformation. It looks absolutely fantastic. Great work!
That looks so much better with leather. I will start looking for a leather interior for my W124 E320 Coupe.
That is truly the biz Merc now…. Love it
Night and day Jack, leather looks awesome.
Wow what a transformation the car looks fantastic the color really matches as well. Personally I like the longer videos. Your doing a fantastic job .
Thank you! This is amazing. I was looking for this kind of a tutorial for a loooong time! 100% best video on how to take c124 interior apart! I have problems with scratches on rear window on my c124 (facelift model) and now I know how to fix it all thanks to YOU dear sir. Thanks!
Much better Jack, concur on your observations on leather versus cloth interiors. Yet another entertaining but informative episode!
There should be springs inside the front seatbelt anchors which spring-load the belt away from passengers getting in the rear seats. The spring goes round that plastic nut cover you queried about.

Great watching the transformation, keep up the good work. 👍😁
Hello Jack. The detailed videos are really useful.
Massive improvement from when originally purchased this car Well done sir!
Good video. The length was ok for me as I quite like to see the detail of what you are doing. 👍
Such a transformation! Great work Jack 👍🏻💪🏻
That’s the content I like to see on that channel! Great job and what a transformation! Love it 👍
Leather is much better by miles. Sure some might like cloth .but leather is amazing on the w124.i had a 124 cabrio with absolutely wrecked cloth interior that I changed to black leather. It transformed the car completely and the car looked a million dollars more luxurious.not A MILLION but 😅.

Love the Bismerc and well done with the transformation.
Personally I love the longer videos... look at what Retropower and Harry's Garage do 😉
hi Jack, here's a wee tip for removing the instrument cluster, buy two cheap flat head screw drivers and bend the head, insert and give a quarter turn then pull
Not sure if this applies to the 124, but on my 123 you just remove the kick panel that's over your knees, reach up and push the cluster with your hand. Dead easy and no risk of a scratch.
Awesome upgrade Jack! Really bringing the class back in the 'E class '
Great video. I was one of the advocates for doing the leather interior. And I was looking forward seeing the (cream-colored?) interior installed. But you're quite right. Grey was the way to go. Well done.
Excellent buddy. 👍 Definitely looks SO much better with the leather. 😀
Really nice upgrade. Enjoying this series.
Quite happy with the longer videos, always interesting to see a 'how to' so don't be afraid to make them more technical 👍👍.
What a transformation! Mercedes-Benz leather is really classy. M-B Tex would be even better, though, as it looks like leather but is practically indestructable.
Great work, well worth doing. I liked your pun when you said, " This glass replacement was a real pain."
Real pane in the glass
That’s really lifted the interior, very posh now 👍
Not the biggest fan of leather seats Jack but what a transformation.
Thanks to YOU, because it really has been helpfull to me and to understand how to take out the back of the rear sites and many others desmountings details!!! Be fine.
Glad it helped! Thanks 🙏
Thanks!
Great vid Jack, your perseverance is definitely paying off, the whole car is such an amazing transformation compared to its original state, you must be proud of the car now. Your vids are perfect lengths and very informative, don't change the formula you got it just right. 👍👍
Wow such a big upgrade, looking a very nice motor now, Merc build quality back in the day was so good.
Nope, they rusted like an alfasud
