DIY Recreating the Ella Emhoff Inauguration coat✨

  • I got a lot of requests to recreate this quirky and whimsical coat! The original cost was designed by Miu Miu and worn by Ella Emhoff on Inauguration day.
I will post a full welt pocket tutorial soon, but would love any other requests you may have! Sewing can be super tricky so I think bite sized tutorials would be great! Just let me know which you’d like to see first and I’ll make it happen!

    1. There is something really soothing about watching you sew while you monologue about it. So thanks for that and I hope you keep making videos.
    2. Wow! I am amazed at your skill and eye for recreation as a self taught designer!! I'd have thought you went to school and had a proper degree!!

Seeing your level of creation from being self-taught is so inspiring to me. I have taught myself many skills in different arenas, but I find myself devaluing them because they were self-taught. But watching you create magic gives me the renewed hope to keep forging ahead on my own. ❤

This is an amazing tutorial ! I loved watching your thought process from start to finish and really seeing and understanding the details in the creation of the garment. I am a visual learner, So One of the many things I love about watching your tutorials is that your very clear with your instructions, you focus the camera on exactly what your talking about and clearly explain further about what your doing step by step. Your voice is also very calming, easy to listen too 😌.
One thing I will request, if you could possibly show the finished garment a little more or from different angles please...or if you have a model available to show how it looks more completely. 😊
You have such amazing skills and creativity, Thank you for sharing your craft and being such a bright light in this world, sharing your passion and shinning brighter than everyone else.
    ✨️ Blessed Be 🌈 ✨️

I would love to see you explore proper traditional tailoring techniques with pad stitching and layers of interfacing and lots of hand sewing as I believe that it is with these techniques you can create even more beautiful, clean and durable work that way. Nevertheless, I love the outcome of this coat, but believe it could possible have been even better if certain techniques were employed 😊. Keep being amazing!!!

Just wondering how many of your designs and urges aren't last minute when all the stores are shut? hee hee hee, sorry for being cheeky, but a number of your designs have been from what i can see "last minute urges" and i know what that's like. To me it's like you just get an itch that you've got to scratch and designing is like that for you. I love watching your video's and you have such a soft voice, it tells the story of why and how. Great you want to teach people. There are not plenty of people. Start perhaps with pattern making. I mean the old good method, measurements of a body and constructing the paper pattern out of them. Pinning fabric is very creative but first people need to know the basics. CF, CB, what is a shoulder line, bust line. Why we do use darts and where they are positioned, how to eliminate them and much more. I am sewing for 33 years as a hobby and now I have started to study design and pattern making as I found it crucial. 2D pattern has to fit to 3D body which moves. 😁 best of luck and BTW I like your fabrics choices.
