Ann, I tried your “scary” savory oatmeal today with what I have on hand. Used a packet of frozen creamed spinach, a container of baby bella mushrooms, 1/2 c oats, 1 TBS each of amla powder, nutritional yeast, and mixed seeds; onion, garlic powders, pepper, hot sauce; 2 c hot H2O. Amazing!!! Delicious!!! My mouth, taste buds, tummy, intestines, brain, whole being ALL say YES, MORE, please! Next, I’m going for kale, shiitake, ginger, tumeric! I love watching you and Jane, thanks for inspiring me to experiment with food for good health!

Jane and Ann, so glad to see a savory oats recipe. I love savory oats. As an Indian, I can’t get behind the sugary breakfast except for oats. Also I highly approve the use of turmeric and amla. They both are integral to our ancient medicine system of Ayurveda and our everyday cooking.
Regarding amla powder, it is usually ground up dried amla fruit. Also people make hair masks to prevent or reverse hair greying.

looks delicious and very happy to say I eat almost identical savory oats every morning. I do it a little differently to make it easier on myself. I batch cook the steel cut oatmeal in the instant pot for the week and just cook the veggies each day also in the instant pot which only takes a few minutes, in thst way i mix up the veggie mix depending what I have but often use mushrooms and greens and artichoke hearts, just makes it easier for me. Otherwise also add the flax and chia (and lately adding vegan protein powder for the fun of it jic it helps now that I’ve increased my muscle building regime.). Thanks for the great video and all the work you do.

I’ve made Anne’s “original” warrior oats recipe daily now, for a year or two. This new version looks great too, and I’ll definitely try it, But to her older version I’ve been adding dried cranberries- because this breakfast is savory, and the added cranberries add fun, pleasant tart/sweet surprise in each bite.

That looks so good. Savory oats (oat groats--where have they been all my life?) has been a game-changer for me. Love adding kale. I'll have to try adding mushrooms and artichoke hearts.

I ordered AMLA because another channel recommended using it. Should get it on Saturday so I am going to have to try this.Just got your cookbook last week too.
By the way I was diagnosed with a lung disease I had never heard of in January.never smoked...maybe autoimmune related.. I decided a month ago to go plant based and no salt to help my heart too.. I cook from scratch 95% of the time now. The heart and lungs effect each other..My LDL dropped 32 points...and the other 3 indicators were profoundly better! Ratio HDL, Triglycerides are all now in normal range..and that's in just in one month
I do use soy milk but no cheese, eggs or meat. My yogurt is made with soy milk...My NP was pleased.
    THANKS LADIES.

I make a batch of old fashioned oats in my instant pot, subbing ¼ the oats with lentils. I also make a batch of tofu scramble, and mix them together with a handful of greens in my non-stick skillet, adding freshly ground flax, chia, and hemp, and extra nutritional yeast. It's so good! I used to put egg and curry and cheese in my oatmeal, before I went vegan over 10 years ago. I'm glad Ann's oats reminded me of them.

What I eat first in the morning is an apple with peanut butter and hot tea. I add my own custom blend of spices to the peanut butter that include the ones you use. (So I'm inspired to share.) Spice mix: turmeric, black pepper, ginger, garlic, onion, amla, and cayenne - equal quantity of each, except for the cayenne, just half quantity. This blend keeps well in a spice jar. Apple: Gala, Envy, Pink Lady, or Honey Crisp, Gala being a favorite. Tea: English Breakfast, or East Frisian BOP from Upton Tea Imports. It's kept the doctor away. 😃

Thank you for sharing this interesting recipe. Unable to find artichoke hearts except for fresh. Need to find a way to use the leaves and get to the heart of each artichoke. Or I can use some Brussels sprouts that I have cut in half and zip locked and put in the freezer. Curry is another spice that can be used, just be careful with whatever you pair it with. It can get hotter than chili. I tear up my kale and ziplock it and put in the freezer. One ziplock will be plenty for this. Since I already spent most of my Social Security for this month, just enough left to keep me in bananas, I will make sure to budget for the new cookbook next month. I need new recipes! Since moving to Oklahoma, I have found that many plant-based items are not available. I'm thinking of making some orders online from Sprouts and Thrive next month, instead of going out shopping. My son isn't plant-based, but he likes a lot of my food. This makes it hard for me to batch cook anything. I miss being able to have donuts. I just don't like the icky sweet flavor. I better stop babbling on. Have a Buch of stuff to take care of this morning. Again thank you!

I've tried, but have yet to make it through an episode. Between the misinformation and the gross food, I'm always reminded why I don't watch them!

Hi ladies! I am wondering if there is a reason that the chia is not cooked in the oats. (I have been cooking them) Is it better not to heat them? Maybe it would be good to grind them?
    Thanks!

Love your video! I made this from your video and I’m ordering your book. Do you eat all of this each day? I could not eat all of that and saved half for the next day.
