Thanks
YES!!! Thanks for adding the recipes!!
am I the only one who thinks Ann needs her own show?
Yes i do, she often gets talked over and not allowed to finish stuff
Sometimes Jane takes over the whole show, i like listening to Ann
@@helenrushworth7743 It would be fun if she had her own segments from time to time. She probably doesn't want her own show. But, I agree 100% with what you're saying. She has more to say that we want to hear! 😊
Yes. I don't live the way Jane talks to Ann. It's stressful to watch sometimes.
1 cup red lentils + 2 cups water, 2 tbs flex meal + 4 tbs water
Thank you!
Thanks
FLAXSEED
Shortcut - just put the lentils and other ingredients in the blender with water. No need to make lentil flour as a separate step. Works well for me. 😊
then you can rinse the lentils first- which is my concern. I allwas rinse lentils before cooking
@@simonneholm475 Yes - I always rinse my lentils too, whatever the recipe.
Good idea thank you
I tried putting the red lentils in the vitamix with the water without grinding the lentils first. I added the soaked flax and blended again. Put the mixture in the fridge overnight. The wraps turned out amazing! So it is not necessary to grind the lentils first.
I thought as much.
And I always thought lentils from the store should be well rinsed first, so your way is perfect!
It is so much easier to just soak the red lentils in water, 1 cup lentils, 2 cups water, put in the blender and cook in a non-stick pan. No flax necessary, no making flour necessary.
Absolutely, she had made this so complicated for people. I make them your way all the time and LOVE them.
Right! I’ve been making these for some time after seeing Jill Dalton make them .. they are amazing!
Flax seeds however ad a ton of super healthy minerals, essential omega 3‘s, Proteins and some vitamins esp. B1 and of course they are high in fibre as well
I cut tofu into strips, browned them in a frying pan then added buffalo sauce. Then I had a buffalo wrap with my red lentil wrap lettuce and tomato.
I put roasted cauliflower bites buffalo style with hummus as the base. Yum!
Finally found a red lentil wrap recipe that isn't almost paper then. Looks like it is about the size of a pancake, thickness. And cashew ricotta? Gotta try all the flavors! Can hardly wait to try these! If my son also likes these, I will need to hide some of them just to make sure I can still enjoy them. He isn't plant based, but he likes a lot of my food. It is hard to batch cook when he eats a large portion of what I fix and I want to be able to put some away in the freezer. I'm thinking about putting in some of my "ground meat" mixture with some spinach, finally chopped tomatoes, shredded green jackfruit, and some sautéed onion. I can taste it now! Thank you all for sharing these recipes. Something more to look forward to.
you guys are the best; anne you never lose that zinggy beautiful smile; cal landed on his feet when he found you. Thanks for the inspirations and the joy; never lose the joy; and the kitchen is where the joy peaks, as in your smiles;
I was always taught to rinse lentils to remove dust and dirt. Instead of blending dry to make a flour, I rinse first, soak in boiling water, then blend into a batter.
Yup me too
I am so excited to try these. I struggle with lunch ideas. If I make the wraps and the fillings ahead of time I can have an easy lunch. Thanks so much.
Oh wow, I am going to make these tomorrow for sure. I am thinking of a mock breakfast burrito, filling the wrap with scrambled tofu, seasoned with a bit of kala namac salt. Just a dash, for the egg flavor. Then adding roasted onions, and maybe some homemade salsa and a slice of avocado. Jumm.
I like your version too though, with the spinach. I think this would be also great as a mock spanacopita (greek spinach wrap, turned vegan). Let`s see: cooked spinach, and for the cheese maybe some silk tofu, mixed with nutritional yeast and herbs and spices, or maybe a vegan szaziki sauce, made from vegan sour creme, shredded cucumber and garlic....... I bet you could even eat these wraps just like crepe, and fill them with a homemade chocolate creme or cinnamon apple sauce. .....
I am so making these asap! Thank you Chef Karen, Jane, Ann and Wade! I will check out the athlete burger recipe as well. I'm also nearly inspired to start running again....nearly! 🙃
You ladies were so fun to watch-- you brought a smile to me. I have been wanting to eat wraps ever sjnce seeing chef AJ make & eat the one she made. Oh yes!!!! Im so happy-- you ladies are making me laugh throwing those to turn them. Im making those soon as buying red lentils. God bless you from Grandmz Katie in Oregon
Hi Chef Karen, Anne and Jane! I'm am So excited! I've made my red lentil wraps, and have them in the fridge for tomorrow! Yay!!! Thank You!!!
❤❤😮😮 three lovely ladies ... thanks for your lessons learned... greetings from Roermond in the Netherlands 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
Hi ladies. The recipe is for Red Lentil Polenta. Can you update with the wraps recipe? Thanks for a great recipe!

Oopsie! We will fix that!!
Made the batter today and looking forward to making the wraps tomorrow. So enjoyed this video and Jane and Ann always make me smile!
I use a mill to make the lentil flour. I also make biscuits with lentil, Einkorn wheat, and oat flours that are delicious.
can't wait to try these wraps out! yummm
Love red lentil wraps and will definitely try making these with the addition of a flax egg. Thank you for sharing 🌟
Enjoyed everything about this natural video
👏🏻 Thank you! I can’t wait to try these!!!
That looks amazing!! Can't wait to try it!
This looks really yummy and I'm looking forward to trying it. I think it would be good for breakfast with tofu scramble and spinach.
You can buy red lentil flour in a regular supermarket here in Australia. Its been available for a few yrs now.its also great for savoury crepes or a vegan "omelette ".
Thank you for the printed recipe!
So yummy can’t wait to make them!!! I will fill mine with a salad! Thank you so much
This looks so yummy and easy!
Thank you very much for this. Awesome red lentil wrap recipe! I tried sweet potato flatbread. Those came out delicious too! I never get bored with the new recipes.❤
Looks delicious!❤
It is like a Tortilla? That would be great for us Texans that love a Great Tortilla!!!!
Yes
Thank you 💜💯🙏🏾
These seem so wonderful :D amazing recipe(s) :) thank you so much for sharing
This is similar to dosa batter, which has ground up rice as well as lentils. Dosa do not have flax. Dosa batter is fermented a bit overnight too. It's pretty fun to make and eat too. I'm going to try these wraps. They look good.
How much ground rice/rice flour would you use?
@@karenbuckner1959 It's about 3 rice to 1 lentils. I soak them overnight before I try to use them to make dosa. I actually have a great indian grocery store near me and I follow a dosa recipe I found on the internet. The fermenting makes them a lot like sour dough. I've used other ratios though, with more lentils. I don't think it matters so long as you get the consistency you like.
I have seen similar recipes from other vegan cooks. They soak the red lentils in water before blending them with water. But they don’t blend the dry lentils into flour. I’m curious if you need to soak or rinse them to begin. They also don’t use flax. So maybe different variations still work. It is amazing for a gluten free option of a wrap. Thank you for sharing the magic of lentils😊
I do it this way, as well. Just red lentils and water. Plus, that way the lentils can be rinsed, first.
That’s how I usually make mine and am going to try it with the flax egg.
Yes - making the lentils into flour seems a bit of a hassle with all the lentil dust flying around! I always just use lentils and water, but maybe the flax is to add extra nutrition?
@@JocelynJKahnI think they’re using the flax as a binder because when you soak the flax in water like they did it can be used as a substitute for eggs in cooking
delicious and healthy🌷
Yummmmy I can’t wait to make them 😊😮😊😮
Why, thank you ladies! I love red lentils boiled into dals and stews, but I have yet to try making the red lentils wraps. Gotta do this!
Oh my gosh!! New subscriber here. I just got a kick out of your intro with you running with the fork. Hahahah so clever. I am going to try this recipe too. Looks super yummy. I am also on the search for your book.
LOL I’m with Ann - I wear noise reduction hearing protection when I use my Vitamix.
Flipping delicious 😊
So😂
And informative. Thank you all.
The link is the wrong recipe
I’m sensitive to gluten, haven’t been able to find a single decent gluten-free option for sandwiches, so this video made my day, thank you!
I’ve made rent lentil flatbreads by blending the red lentils with water And pouring a little in a hot nonstick pan and I sometimes sprinkle some spices immediately after pouring, but you do not need to add the flax eggs and you don’t need to turn the lentils into flour. You can do it all at one time in a high-speed blender.
I’ve made wraps with soaked red lentils and water - blend. Held together perfectly. No need for flax.
I made some red lentils wraps a few days ago with just washed red lentils and water. They did taste amazing with a nice garlicky hummus. I did find it necessary to season the wrap batter, though because the taste of red lentils was too overpowering for my family. I am trying to train their tastebuds but it is slow going 😂
They did get quite dry and breakable rather than pliable so I see why the flax egg would be beneficial.
Unfortunately, since becoming plant based, I have developed an allergy to soy. It shows as nasty eczema outbreaks all over my face and so many things that I used to enjoy are now off the table… literally. Nuts, seeds, dried fruits and many different grains are always contaminated with soy spores from packaging plants. Add anything made from flour, as well, because soy lecithin is used in the process of making it.
It drives me mad that sunflower lecithin could be used in place of soy but it just won’t happen. The animal agriculture industry makes it so that soy is much less expensive to use.
Rant over 🤣
Great recipes, Chef! They always look amazing!
(It would be incredible to see more allergen free recipes. )
Try seeing someone with a frequency machine (sorry, don’t know the technical term) that can treat you for soy sensitivity
Red lentil flour can be found in Indian grocery store
Here, here! ❤
Ann asked good questions
YES!
I am having trouble find Chef Karen is there a link that can be shared?
Wondering if you can use other split lentils?
You can make flour in coffee grinder
I could not find the Wrap recipe?? Thank you!!!
I’m going to try cruciferous greens collection Trader Joe’s - steamed, black beans and Braggs aminos is ginger to be my first since I want to focus on making the wraps.
Is there a link or name for the nonstick skillet that Karen uses? Thank you!
Yummmm 🥰
I'm excited to try the red lentil wraps!!! You ladies are all wonderful! Jane and Anne, where & what brand of hummus do you buy without oil (that is, if you don't want to make it.) Thanks.
Cedars has an oil free hummus and Whole Foods carries Cava hummus that is oil free.
@@loria.02139 Thank you for responding, & for the suggestions!
@@loria.02139 I'm not sure what I did wrong, but my red lentil wraps stuck in both a non-stick pan & a regular pan (Eck, I even tried adding a little oil.)
@@janismadigan6178was the pan nice and hot first?
@@cheriy8750 Hi. I have the same problem with plant based pancakes. Unless I use PAM, they stick. I'll continue with other recipes. I do like red lentils cooked, just as I like brown lentails (using plant based recipes). Thanks for your suggestions.
Is your stove top electric or Bernice from Downingtown PA
❤❤can i also make from gree ,blak lentil???❤❤❤❤
You could make a dinner filled with cashew ricotta and spinach cannelloni
You use dry lentils without washing them first?
Poor Jane! Didn't get to taste a wrap!!!
Can the wraps be frozen?
I can't find Chef Karen's utube site. Would you help?
Could i dehydrate these instead of cooking them
The link you provided is for a different recipe
thank forsharing this video,,,,,,,,,,i love it,,,,,,,,,,,,,foowback
Where can I find Karen's channel ?
Looks great! Is the flavor bland?
I add onion, garlic and nutritional yeast. They are bland otherwise but edible.
I love the blender what is the name and brand of the blender?
Pretty sure it's a vitamix.
Could you introduce more Red lentil recipe. Many people come from Asia like me is interesting about this good food we don’t have red lentil in Taiwan
The best part was that guy meandering in the background 🤣
How much flax to water to make flax egg
Double water to flax so 2 tablespoons flax and 4 tablespoons of water.
THE ADDED PRINTABLE RECIPE IS FOR RED LENTIL POLENTA AND NOT RED LENTIL WRAPS.
Why shout, just Google to find on your own @arc8731
Please let me know the exact pan you used for this recipe, as in the brand, name of pan and size? Thank you so much! 💚
I wanted to know too. A quick search led me to the Le Creuset Toughened Nonstick PRO Crêpe Pan, 11" SKU 6573372. Looks the same to me.
@@annblake5113 Thank you!! 😊I’ll check it out.
can we use any lentil?
I’ve only seen wraps made with red lentils because they are so delicate and break down in water. Since these are ground into flour first, other lentils might work, but they may also have to “rest” longer to absorb the water properly.
If you try it, please let us know.
I’ve made something very similar with gram flour (chickpea flour) but I bought the flour in an Asian store. I didn’t grind the chickpeas myself
I like suggestions of just blending everything together, but when I cook red lentils, I have to rinse them since they're quite dirty.
I am trying to fine chef Karen’s site. Is it not up yet?
How many spoonfuls of flax ?
2 Tablespoons + 4 tablespoons water
She said 2 Tbs. flax to 4 Tbs. water
Looking forward to Chef Karen's channel. I couldn't find it with that address so I guess it isn't up yet.
Agreed! Too many cooks in the kitchen
Can the wraps also be made with chickpeas or chickpea flour?
I have made wraps with chickpeas but prefer to use oat flour. I add oregano & nutritional yeast before adding water to make a batter.
@@lizziedripping71 yes, oat flour wraps would be great too. I’m not a big fan of the lentil taste, I prefer chickpeas (not the flour). But was just thinking of the protein content in the flour and changing like for like. Thanks for sharing your experience. Will definitely try. 😊
MAYBE! give it a try and let us know!
Maybe you could use half oat and half lentil @@anamonicasantos8164
*Tortilla Chickpea Tuesday
Ela
Ingredients
1 cup chickpea flour
1/2 cup tapioca starch (arrowroot best replacement)
1 - 1 1/8 cup water 1 cup for thick (1 1/8 for thin)
1/3 tsp salt
Instructions
Process all ingredients in your food processor or blender until the batter is smooth. Use 1 cup of water if you plan to make thicker/smaller tortillas for tacos. Use about 1 1/8 cups of water if you want to make thinner/bigger tortillas e.g. burritos.
Pour about 1/3 cup of the batter into a non-stick skillet.
Make sure to use a non-stick skillet.
Step 1: Simply combine all the ingredients in a food processor or blender and blend until you achieve a smooth batter. Use 1 cup of water for thicker/smaller tortillas. Alternatively, 1 1/8 cup water for thinner/large tortillas. I even used more than 1 ¼ cup water for very thin wraps with perfect results.
Step 2: Pour about 1/3 cup of the batter into a non-stick skillet on low-medium heat and cook for around two minutes on each side.
Step 3: Use immediately or save for later
Where is the recipe for the wrap?
Guess what I am making for dinner! Has anyone used red lentil flour for anything else? Seems so easy and economical. But I know some flours are best for some things and not others.
I’ve tried a recipe like this but it was tasteless?
I like to add seasonings to the batter. Taste great with way.
I’ll try that
Is the lentils raw?
Yes
I used a flour mill.
Sorry or 😊induction Bernice from Downingtown PA
The recipe link is saying red lentils polenta. Perhaps the name of the recipe should be changed.
The recipe to view is for red lentil polenta. Not the wrap. Can you add the wrap recipe please. Thanks. So great an idea!😢😢
I don't think you need to grind the lentils. Just soak them 4 hours!
Perhaps this is a sacrilegious thing to say on this channel, but instead of using lemon juice in 'cheesy' sauces, I use some vegan lactic acid powder. I don't like the lemon taste coming through in some sauces and the lactic acid tastes more like the tang in dairy cheese.
You need to wash the red lentils first
They can be warmed in a tortilla warmer! They are great that way.
Why can’t you use plates ladies
Jane stop interrupting your guest.
