After my 3rd heart stent, high triglycerides and cholesterol plus slowly increasing blood pressure I thought to give this a try. To my surprise in the course of 4 months I have dropped 50 pounds effortlessly, my LDL was 30! An astonishing number. My cholesterol is in the 90's now. My triglycerides are normalized as is my blood pressure. On my next visit to see my personal MD we will discuss removing me from my medications. This is my lifestyle now and thank you for the info you put out on this channel.
Amazing 👏👏👏
I thought avocados were good for cholesterol
That’s great! But I’ve given up sugar except one spoon in my coffee, no sweets and mostly meat free and I even started exercising and I’ve lost a mere couple pounds in 2 months….what else did you do, did you cut calories too?
@@beautymaven3952 since I wrote that I have dropped another 20 pounds and my doctor has taken me off all my medications. I'm medication free now. I really don't cut calories. If you follow this way of eating, the weight comes off by itself. When I want to cut back if I see my weight inching back up I will back off of bread and hummus. Otherwise it takes care of itself.
@@kpf8186 wow, that is amazing. Good for you, your doctors must be quite impressed and shame on them for not offering this lifestyle to begin with. I do eat a slice or 2 of bread daily and half n half (tablespoon) in my coffee…but I guess it’s the meat (small portion once/twice weekly) that is the problem. It used to be 3-4x per week so I’ve cut back. Okay, I am going to stop completely, as that’s the only way it will work. Take care, thank you
This is how I want to be when I’m old. Healthy, sharp and enjoying life. You ladies are a real role model!
Removing oil helps keep your stove cleaner, I always hated cleaning oil and grease off of the stove and pots and pans.
My grandmother kitchen was so full of oil. I always thought how would be inside the body
Love you! We are both in our 80's and feel better than ever! Years ago we both REVERSED life-threatening illnesses by switching to a whole food plant-based diet. We are doing some research for our tiny new healthy-aging advice RUclips channel. Thank you for all you do!
Subscribed. Great job, guys!!
@@sadiedavenport Thanks so much for your support. Very grateful.
Young At Any Age what if a person has chronic renal failure and diabetes and aids patients too much potassium not good or sugar or supplements or high phrospherous I don’t if I’m spending it right
You are an inspiration to everyone! Bless you both 🙏🤗
@@AskBobnFran I gave a shoutout to you in the comments section of another one of Jane and Ann’s videos.
How old is your mom and dad? Their mind’s are so quick and alert like a young person! Their nutrition obviously paid off!🍃🌾🌱🥬🥦🥕
Why do I so love when Ann and Jane are running with the fork?? That always makes me smile!!
I Loved it better with the doggy chasing them!
@@CastledarkDweller27 , Now Miss Ann is pulling a tire! Lol
I just discovered this channel, and I love it! I especially love how mom and daughter are together ❤️😂
They are so much fun and spontaneous
watching you always makes me happy. thank you!
Ann is just amazing, so full of energy.
Thank you Jane and Ann!! I spontaniously mixed a dressing the other day that instantly became my favorite dressing/condiment. A handful of mango and a handful of red pepper (paprika) and just a very little water = plant perfect and a slice of heaven on kale, mangold etc.
After 6 days I feel so good following your guidelines! Wow! Thank you, both!
Hi! Would you share how you feel better?? People are writing that after trying this diet lifestyle. I’ve never done this and wonder how you feel after doing plant based only?? Seems so drastic!!😅
I would just think eating all the greens and oatmeal the nitric oxide gives you oxygen and energy
@@loribakergirl6438have you tried it yet? I started looking into this eating plan when my dad had a stent put in EACH leg. Sadly, he was not committed to greens every day and no salt/sugar. He loved his bologna sandwiches 😢. Mom and I have renewed our challenge. She says after only 8 days that she woke up without pain for the 1st time in over 20yrs
As for myself, I am sleeping through the night and have more energy during the day. I found oil in EVERYTHING! But diligence pays off and I found oil-free whole rye crackers and bread (expensive by comparison, but the money not spending on cooking oils, mayo and dressings makes up for it!)
I think I have watched this video 20 times. It's so very helpful. It reinforces the guidelines.
I’m back here today watching it again.
Me, too!
Stones gall or kidney?
I'm new to the "no oil" way of cooking so I want to say thank you for cooking onions and mushrooms without oil. I would have never tried it if I hadn't seen it done without oil first!
Water sautéing is pretty easy, as long as the pan is non-stick.
Do you have to be concerned with AGEs when cooking Onions and Mushrooms in a pan?
LOL I'm watching this while eating oats. I am doing my best to fix my health. thanks for putting this up.
Lol!
These women have done the impossible! They have made me want to eat vegetables and cook at home! I cannot stop laughing!
@@nakayak2357 right! I feel healthier just for having watched this!!
@@nakayak2357 c hiv I I I hv jjih
Eating oats will not fix your health.
Your mention of how well a little bit of oil spreads [and imagine that through your entire body inside] was the never heard before importance of the diet. I tried this diet years ago and went to a reduced use of oils. But this example clicked with me. Thank you!
No problem with weight when you eat this way. The pounds just melt off, probably because of the absence of bad fats. Thanks ladies. You look nice in pink😍
Yes they melt off….it’s called malnourishment
@@cassandrasmom yeah it called a diet that help people with heart disease or cardiovascular disease issue not for healthy people that does a whole foods plant based diet.
@@cassandrasmom you follow keto diet which is horrible in this long wrong the body use whole carbs as a source is needed to run red blood cells healthy and we need whole carb for brain function
After a health scare, we’ve started transitioning to a plant perfect diet. We feel so much better almost immediately! LOVE this video, learned so much.
I love this small (and powerful!) collection of Jane and Ann cooking different categories of greens. It is a quick lesson with so many ideas. Thanks so much, Jane and Ann!
I just love watching you two! Such important work you guys are doing!
I just made your 321 dressing while I watch this… Oh man… It’s good! Thanks you guys.
You two are a mine of information and such a joy to hang out with.
In My humble opinion, there is NO such thing as too many dressings! That itself will make me buy the book, so Thanks. Your videos are more than about food health, because you two make me laugh for days. And a merry heart is good medicine. I'm still laughing over Ann calling Jane her Mom. Ha! Ha! Ha! So funny. You two are always naturally funny, like Laurel and Hardy. The Best to you Both.
Love you ladies and sharing your cooking and awesome recipes
These girls are delightful! Such good teachers! Thank you so much! 79 yrs and going plant strong!
Just found your channel, so good. I have been plant based for years and love it. I feel and look better than others in my age group or even younger. No aches and pain. Praise God!!
Agree! What’s your usual go to meals? And I started doing yoga recently like an one hour daily of hatha yoga or hot yoga class .
Also does doing one yoga daily is enough to help with weight management? Doing too much cardio or weight lifting just doesn’t appeal me. I like waking too .
Found your wonderful husband and then found you two!! 😍❤🎉 loving your videos and all the great truth you share! Ty 😘
You ladies are so adorable! Thank you so much for giving so much of yourselves!
I love reading the comments for extra unique tips!
This was a great refresher and reminder of how life changing and easy it is to eat this way.
No oil is easy at home, but nearly impossible when eating out.
I pack a salad dressing with me of lemon or lime juice and a little maple syrup or honey with dried herbs an spices. I sometimes add a little Bragg's liquid aminos. Seems to work great. I pack it even if we decide we don't eat anywhere. I get the little tiny dressing bottles from Amazon.
And now most chinese restaurants are putting oil in their rice & if they say they don't they lie! I know this if I have a B.M. a half hour after eating it!
Tell me about it...
I know it's oily when the acid reflux is real afterwards :/
It would be a miracle if restaurants made the change and chose not to drench food with oil.
@@amalia_ag what has drastically helped my acid reflux is not drinking within 30 minutes of eating, not drinking while eating, or 60 minutes after. The 60 minutes after can be tough so sometimes it's 30 minutes after. Helps to not dilute the stomach acid so it can do the job of digesting. And not come back with a vengeance because it was too diluted.
Went to Texas Roadhouse with a friend & had a baked potato & a vegetable. The potato was disgusting, they rolled it heavily in oil
before they baked it & probably after too!
OMGosh! I love momma (Ann) Esselstyn! She is so cute. She reminds me of my mother who passed a few years back & I miss her so much. Glad I found your page Jane. Thank you so much.
This is a wonderful 4-parter for being Plant Perfect!! Thank you for putting this together!
You teach us How to eat. , what to eat. . And how to treat our relatives in our family Thank you 😊 Love ❤️
I strive with salads mostly looking always for a variety of salads dressing great recipes👍
I found Dr. Esselstyn's book the most effective book written by a medical doctor and, as you can see, he is an example of excellent health. However, I also do not consume vinegar, nutritional yeast nor gluten and found it to be an even a more effective diet.
Cut off the lid of cans by holding your can opener horizontally to cut, not vertically. It will cut off the lid right below the rim. It's easier to open, and the lid won't have rough edges and it won't fall down into your canned food. This will work with any manual can opener.
I’ve always listened to you and your husband and dad. But now I was diagnosed with heart disease (myopathy) and will be purchasing your book and taking Dr. Esselstyn’s class if one is offered. I’d even become his patient although I live one state over. I have complete confidence in Dr. Esselstyn and believe that you two teach cooking exactly as he’d approve.
Love Ann's humor and little quips like "My Breakfast bowl!"
I just got my copies of Prevent and Reverse Heart disease cookbook and the Engine 2 cookbook. Waiting for my Plant strong cookbook.
Watching you make a lasagna in a different video was the tipping point to get all the cookbooks.
Great videos!
Thanks Jane and Ann for some amazing tips on oil free cooking..🙏 I’m now waking up to the idea of refraining from oil in my cuisine. As a hard core Indian cook, I couldn’t imagine cooking my tarka for curries without any oil or ghee. However, the way you caramelised those onions with just water, gives me hope! I think I could add my ginger/garlic/chilli paste to make my tarka..maybe even add balsamic vinegar which would reduce the salt content..super tips..thank you ladies 😊 brilliant content 🙏🙏
Great video,
I just began whole food plant based ( again) and after only a few days feel so much better.
Thanks for all the great information.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge! After a recent hospital stay due to diverticulitis I am changing my diet. No gluten or dairy for me!!
Nothing that poops !!! You two are so funny. Love your videos. I’m 3+ months into a dedicated plant pure diet because of all the Esselstyns. Thank you!
I HAVE to say how adorable you both are, how alike you both are and how passionate you both are!! I love your message and I’m trying so very hard to get my husband onboard. I’ll do this. I so value your message, your recipes and your conversation!!! Love you, MOM!! Wish you were next door!!!!😘
I love Ann, she really makes the video fun while learning this way of eating.
Excited about this little series. These are great to pass on to family and friends with questions !
Hi just found your videos I became vegan at 65 no I am 67 and lost 33 pounds and feeling better. I just found out about oil! Its
in everything. Love you two Thanks from Canada
Your 3-2-1 dressing is our favorite! Thank you for all these videos! I’ve been binge watching all morning.
These ladies are too adorable. I am so glad I found you both. Will be tuning in regularly. Thank you.
Great guidelines ladies! Thank you 😊 I am definitely cutting out coconut products and greatly minimizing nuts and nut milks. I'm getting your cookbook because everyone needs to take care if their hearts and arteries.
Hi from northwest Indiana!! Love you girls! Thank you for all your help!❤️❤️❤️🥰
"Esselstyn" is the first name in food-based health! What a lineup of dedicated family members!
oooow. As I was watching the beet green snack I wanted to tell you that I love greens but - was NEVER a collard green fan. BUT I was getting them in my delivery of "Misfit Market" veggies and after I strip the leaves off the stems - I cut the stems about 5" long and boiled them, then just sautéed them dry and put them in a bowl and let them cool and I just snacked on them. SO DELICIOUS!!! Of course I ate the leaves also! Separately in my meal - sautéed with garlic, I got used to them actually...
Can you share your opinion of Misfits, please? I’ve been thinking of getting it but I read contradicting reviews and couldn’t decide.
@@helenmyers5161 I still get an every other week delivery of the small box. My sister & my daughter also subscribe for the bigger box. I can now pick my produce which I like. We've had mixed experiences. Mine is mostly positive. The price is good for organic. But sometimes you get some things that go bad before they get ripe (a pineapple- which I ordered as an extra). I don't get mushrooms from them because I tried twice and they were wet and mushy... But mostly I'm satisfied. At the beginning of the pandemic when it was hard to get out, or get food delivered it was a God-send and I think we're all afraid to cancel completely. Although I'd rather go out and pick my own veggies at the store. One thing I really liked was I got some things I wouldn't have normally tried, or that I needed to try again (like the collards). I also got jicama for the first time. I think it depends on where you live & where they source from. I'd give them a try. You can always cancel and you can skip whenever you want.
Ann looks so good in pink!! It's not difficult at all, I have been eating this way for the last 3 years now, if I eat or put anything in my mouth with oil , I spit it out immediately, I can't eat anything that has oil in it at all now, it taste so vile. Thank you girls. Its worth it.
Thank you this video is so wonderful very informative straight to the point.😊
I love dark red kidney beans in my salads .... and then I top it all off with frozen blueberries! Those half-thawed berries are such a delicious, surprise in a bite!
I'm loving balsamic at the moment, too. My current favorite is mixing aged balsamic with oil-free almond butter, a bunch of dried basil, and a ton of dried dill. Yum, yum, yum!
I am starting the engine 2 diet today and this was very helpful 💪
Your mom is so cute! 💕
Love this video! I like their tone and communication style. Very authentic and honest.
They now have frozen ginger already grated. Super easy to use.
WOW, this will help. There is a big benefit to ginger but it's a hassle to use, so dry ginger has had to be my compromise until this. thanks :_
Thank You both for generously sharing all your knowledge with us ♥️
Oh yes it's far too salty!! I do agree with you , spot on. Lemon replace salt perfectly. The best example is Ann, look how good she looks and how fit she is. Thanks girls.
Mom is on fire!! Omg 😂😂😂 she has convinced me all on her very own! 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
This is such great information!! Thanks so much!! 😊❤️🏡🔥
These 2 are histerical. My mother and I were the same sizes. She was a nutrition expert. Of course I didn’t listen then but I am 74 now with severe Arthritis and I am learning about living meatless. MyMom controlled her Arthritis by never eating anything processed. I wish she was here to show her I listened . Too bad I didn’t listen sooner.
“Jane! It’s the easiest!” 😂😂. I love your videos.
Thank you for all these ideas!!
Thank you! I so appreciate you two!
Awesome video - thank you!

So many great ideas!
TY for your time!! I appreciate you ALL!!
This brilliant compilation of yours is in my saved Favourites and i re-watch it every few months to re-motivate myself to EAT MORE GREENS! It has been very helpful for me in my quest for better health & permanent weightloss ...but it is even more PERFECT for those who have just had a heart attack/stroke, or cancer/diabetes diagnosis!
Often these people are in shock and very frightened, which makes it difficult to think of diet questions to ask their hospital doctors. Sometimes they THINK of the questions but due to the fear & anxiety may retain nothing of the answers they received. What a wonderful resource this package of videos is! If any of my family and friends are unfortunate enough to develop such conditions, i will be clicking SHARE just next to the thumbs up button & emailing this link to them.
Thank you so much for this video!
Jane, I love your shirt! Where did you get it? Love watching you two! Your family seems so awesome ! Thanks for sharing recipes with all of us.
I love these two! Great video. Thank you, ladies. I subbed. ❤️
Jane, I love the way you explain stuff. keep up the good work!!
Hi Ann and Jane, got your Plant Based Warrior Woman & the Engine2 cookbooks. Although I do realize why you had to open with all of the things that need to be eliminated and stopped and that we must say "No!" to in a WFPB (Whole-Food Plant-Based) diet, perhaps it'll be less harsh to the ears of the Beginner WFPB audience to just say that you'll be getting plant-based versions of all of those things you said "NO!" to. Otherwise, it sounds wayyyy too harsh and restrictive and just impossible to do. But in reality, it IS truly possible and there are very good substitutionary ways to cook WFPB recipes! Thanks for your wonderful show and cookbooks!! 📚
Absolutely enjoy your videos and recipes!
You guys are great❣️ Really fun to watch and supporting my plant based way of life! Thanks❣️

You ladies rock! 💕
You guys are a blessing to us. Thank you
You both are just the best! I’m having trouble finding a video I haven’t seen yet! LOL love how you just give ideas about the many ways to use different vegetables, it really helps me when I am looking at things to use in the fridge!
Their suggestion to use 1 teaspoon coconut extract added to one cup of plant milk is brilliant and has saved my delicious curry dishes!!! Another suggestion along those lines is to use PB2 cashew powder in place of raw cashews in sauces and dressings. Such a nutritional improvement but still so tasty!! Also PB2 peanut powder instead of peanut butter.
I adore you gals!! Your guys! Your beautiful, healthy family. In my 60th year, I'm finally ready to act. Thank you for your lovely example!!
Just found you, love your videos! So informative and entertaining!
