This is a great camera comparison, thanks for doing it! I have to say, I'm really enjoying my Pixel 7. It's by far the best camera I've ever owned, and it takes great shots effortlessly. On previous phones, I always had to stand there perfectly still, tap the thing I wanted to focus on, then pray that it stayed still long enough for me to take a not-blurry photo of it. Here in Europe for example the Pixel 7 Pro has the same price as the Pixel 6 Pro at 899€. The iPhone was always already quite a bit more expensive in Europe but in addition Apple has also raised the Price this year even higher making the small iPhone 14 Pro start at an (in my opinion unexceptionable) 1299€. That is a difference of 400€ or in other words almost half the price of the Pixel 7 Pro itself. And if you want the bigger Max you need to pay 1449€ which is now 550€ more, more than half of the Pixel 7 Pro and dangerously close to the price of an entire Pixel 7 with 650€.
I would argue that iPhones are more user-accessible, rather than user friendly. Android devices allow for a much wider range of applications and customization. Want to load files directly on to your phone? You can do it. USB-C? Practically universal. Headphone jacks and removable sim/SD trays? You can still find them. Apps which bypass ads and other spam content? Done. Emulators? You can get them. Easy access to sensors? Yep. Side-loading custom apps? Easy. The list goes on and on. Hey, for whatever reason, your pixel 5x photo in the one example was a crop off the main camera rather than the telephoto being used. This happens on both phones if the phone feels the lighting is not sufficient for the telephoto which allows less light in. This clearly was an outdoor case so I'd say it was a bug but not unheard-of for either phone (and many others).
At 6:20 when you zoomed in and said that the detail looked very similar to you, I laughed out loud coz I was watching this video on my 65” 4K TV and I could clearly see the huge amount of noise on the iPhone’s image.
Hello, Thank-you for this review. One question regarding the superior portrait or cinematic mode on the iphone. Does the iphone not benefit a lot from the LIDAR ?
Would you be able to do a video on how to tune iPhone's Photographic Styles so that pictures more resemble Pixel photos' colours (or even if this is possible)?

Full 50mp resolution RAW isn't available on the 6pro, and I don't think they've enabled that on the 7 series either. You do get 12.5mp RAW though, which, in my experience has been fine to work with.
I have used Pixel 4a for 2 years before recently moving to Iphone 14pro. It might surprise some but honestly the Pixel 4a can beat the iPhone in some cases. The pictures look great compared to Iphone which I often find quite flat. Iphone has always preferred keeping pics a lot neutral, but the 14pro pics lack character sometimes, atleast to a layman. I guess Pixel is best for insta and fb kind pics and IPhone is best for professional photographers as you can do a a lot of post processing
Can you please give an honest opinion.... I have kids and I want the best camera. I always found that the iPhone had nicer pictures. I have been with Android since the beginning but I am willing to change os if it means better camera and more reliability. What do you say? Thank you

I’ve got the iPhone 11 currently. My friend has the pixel one and her photos crush my iPhone 11 photos 😂. I’m thinking about upgrading . Thanks for sharing good content
Since the problem with the tele lens was because it didn't actually switch to it, I feel like the main downsides of the P7P that I've seen by now after many videos and pictures are: focus on relatively easy-to-shoot things and things related to depth like portrait and cinematic mode (I believe these could be fixed with updates?). Other than that, as a "point and shoot" phone camera it's amazing and imo it beats the iPhone, because most people use the regular camera most of the time. Aso very nice is *Real tone which you can clearly see as you switch to the selfie cam: skin tones are much nicer. The user-friendly interface on the Pixel is a + too and very nice features like lopng exposure & action pan make you want to use it, and ultimately make it FUN :) great comparison!
its seem to be snapping the photo before the phone actually switches lenses. Google needs to make this seamless or instant. I've noticed it take a sec or 2 to change in some videos.
you really explained everything so well that even i understand! i dont take pictures or really ever care, but i do happen to be deciding between these two phones, and the difference is kinda insane! no other reviewer has been done the comparrison justice, seems like the iphone has quite a massive advantage. thanks!
Maybe no one else wants this - but it would be interesting to see iPhone 14 Pro vs Pixel 7 Pro - RAW modes. Do both provide similar levels of information for editing in post? photo and video?
Genuine question - does the pixel even have a RAW mode? I know that, for instance, you can’t get full 50MP images on the pixel, it’s permanently binned down to 12.5MP.
@@goJesusandStarcraft I know it did. I don't think it will ever really output a 50MP file, because the sensor is hardware binned to 12.5 MP (not even a rooted phone can generate the 50MP version, because it's hardware binning). At least that's how it used to work. But just like Apple's raw format, Google's "raw" images do come with some processing.
A question I often have, and forgive me if it's already been asked, is how both cameras compare to real life/dSLR. Smartphones are pretty amazing these days, but each phone brand more and more seems to make unique choices for how to produce colours. Did you find one more true to life than the other overall?
You can compare in day light. But since light decrease as go night smartphone struggle and than big sensor came to picture and destroyed smartphone. During day compare but night blow away....
As somebody who has owned many devices (both Apple and Android) I thought this was a well-balanced. It gets to the point and simplifies the information, without doing an injustice to each respective device. I believe people need to stop being so butt-hurt when their beloved company isn't getting the praise THEY believe it deserves. If you want confirmation bias that bad, go to a community forum and you can have it in droves.
Exactly why I love my 14 Pro! I also don’t know why people don’t talk about the speakers on the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max? They’re amazing and make watching content on my 14 Pro a joy.
I agree! I had my iPad 6 Mini next to my iPhone 14 Pro comparing the speakers and the 14 Pro sounds way better. Louder and more surround sound feeling.
They're both very good, can't go wrong with either, I guess it depends on which ecosystem you prefer 😊 I guess the pixel will improve when it comes to portrait mode and cinematic mode ( after updates and learning) pixel portrait mode never looks natural , too much blur , iphone had better blur transition. I never use portrait mode on my pixel as it's pretty terrible . The pixel is also significantly cheaper. I like iphones but I find them quite awkward to use , less free and claustrophobic.
When people ask whats the point of having Most powerful chip in the phone when you cant utilise it fully. Well, it appears that all that power is being used by apple already in their background processing and optimisation. But we just never know these things because we take them for granted and we would still never unless we come across these kind of videos where the true potential of iphones A series chips alongside apples software magic is showcased. Btw Great video Tyler🔥
It's almost ridiculous how bad the video looks from the Pixel. The Cinematic mode is useless, the indoor quality is abysmal and the dynamic range is thrown all over the place. In the meantime I'm able to use the iPhone 14 Pro for certain shots for professional work. I could never use a camera like the Pixel 7 Pro due to the reliability issues.
While you bring up some good points on the deficiencies of the Pixel 7 Pro, your Apple fanboy side is showing intensely in this video. The Pixel's main camera is absolutely amazing if given the right conditions to shine. At the end of the day, it's about knowing how to use your tool. For example, I've been taking pictures of my dog non-stop since I got my phone and they've been turning out fantastic. In many ways, it's done as well or even better than my DSLR in several instances in terms of the bokeh. Sure, the iPhone's 3x zoom and better 3d sensing capabilities are nice to have for portrait shots, but in many instances, the Pixel 7 Pro does a great job. The tight integration that I have with Google Photos + Snapseed is a huge plus. As for the cinematic blur, I agree with you that it's pretty disappointing, but this is another example of knowing how to use your tool. So far, the algorithm is primarily focused on close subjects with backgrounds that aren't too far away. The feature was likely rushed to meet the release deadline. Hopefully, they'll be able to fix and improve it over time.

Good comparison. After watching the Google event, I thought the Pixel 7 Pro photos and video would have been better.
Video is so crap on Pixel
As someone who loves photography, I’d choose the iPhone 14 pro!
As long as the iPhone is stuck on the lightning connection /USB2 speed, I could never buy one.
I've noticed it take a sec or 2 to change in some videos.
you really explained everything so well that even i understand! i dont take pictures or really ever care, but i do happen to be deciding between these two phones, and the difference is kinda insane! no other reviewer has been done the comparrison justice, seems like the iphone has quite a massive advantage. thanks!
Awesome comparison.. BUT THAT JACKET. 🔥
@@descendency i see, i wasn’t aware that pixels could shoot raw. TIL
Great video!
Goes to show how meaningless DxOMark rankings are. I'm not even an Apple fan.
They'll never catch up
Great video! Could you also make a Pixel 7 vs iPhone 14 vs iPhone 13 camera comparison video?
A fellow Calgarian! Let's go!
iPhone is a better overall camera package. Its solid in all areas.
Proper camera review
Spot on analysis 👍
It strange. All blind test, google is the winer. Not good if the tester is iphone fan.
@@MatthewVlossak exactly, there’s also a good amount of mids and low end which surprised the hell out of me. Sounded much better than my 13 Pro.
well he is not an audio engineer so audio is not his specialty i guess....I am amazing by pixel 7p speaker as well.
@@EH-pe2sv speakers on the 7 and 7 Pro are garbage bro, what are you talking about 😂😂
@@T-eee-L no you're garbage
They're both very good, can't go wrong with either, I guess it depends on which ecosystem you prefer 😊 I guess the pixel will improve when it comes to portrait mode and cinematic mode ( after updates and learning) pixel portrait mode never looks natural , too much blur , iphone had better blur transition. I never use portrait mode on my pixel as it's pretty terrible . The pixel is also significantly cheaper. I like iphones but I find them quite awkward to use , less free and claustrophobic.
i noted he skipped the front camera on purpose it looks like a mid-range phone
@@TimaWeynne oh yeah, the pixel front camera takes dreadful photos . I don't think this guy is interested in selfie's though.
We need more of these videos.
Pixel 7 beats iphone 14 in every review except this one... Fanboi
i just don't know why none of these reviewers never use the pixel exposure sliders on the pixel. you'd swear the feature didn't even exist.
bro are you in calgary?! Small world huh! I recognized the backgrounds!
You know it! 🙌
Pixel camera, iphone video. But overall pixel did a great job ❤️
I'm guessing that you just missed the 5x optical by a hair & what you're getting is 5x digital some how
nice comparison. im picking up a pixel 7 pro soon
I want a dedicated pixel-like astrophotography mode on my iPhone 14 PM, Then Im fully happy. 😌
Great review!
Waiting for your cinematographers review on iphone 14 pro max 😄
