I think Google did a great job. We have to keep in mind that Google’s SoC is first gen. I think Google is just scratching the surface as what they can do.
@@VfxRaptAnime and what? What exactly they gonna do with it? Everything collects data? At the end of the day youre gonna live your life normally either way lmao Bunch of nut jobs Also dont think too much buddy you might hurt yourself again
Great review, but to your point. This is Googles first SOC and this is an initial review of their software. Historically Google has issued updates to improve performance of their cameras within weeks of launch. The reviews of today will be different than the reviews 4 to 6 weeks from now.
Your camera comparisons made me love them!Amazing video,Btw this may be 6th gen of pixel but it's still their first tensor so they have a lot to go through
Im still hopeful of the Pixel because now that they have full control over the hardware they can improve on what's lacking throughout software updates. Let Google do what they do best. And after a few iterations they might even crack it ...
Google makes the camera worse with updates, not better. I had the Google Nexus 5x. When the first Pixel was released, the Nexus got an update, which made night photos too bright, made them look softer due to more noise reduction and also increased the amount of the sharpening artefacts. Also, before the update you could take three HDR+ On photos and then you had to wait due to the processing. After the update one only could take two HDR+ On photos before one has to wait. The new Pixel 1 was advertised with a zero shutter lag HDR+ mode that could be used nearly all the time.... My Pixel 3a got an update that removed the white balance presets. At the same time, Google released the Pixel 4 and advertised the new machine learning white balance.... The Pixel 5 got an update that disabled(!) the ultra wide angle astrophotography mode.
Speaking on the macro camera function. That was my favorite feature of my current Samsung galaxy almost flagship that I didn't know about until after I started using it. I had to get eye surgery last month so reading any kind of fine print is difficult without it but it's helped me out of quite a few jams
Keep in mind: this is the first generation of Google's new Tensor chip and their first attempt at a flagship phone. If the Pixel has this amount of competitiveness while cheaper, incumbent software updates and future optimization are on pace to surpass the iPhone. We'll see if Google can deliver.
I really love how Google went with a change of design. That Pixel 6 looks so good. A fresh change of air when we have this square camera bumps similar to one another. Regardless, Props to your efforts, Arun. Keep it up.
why is nobody reviewing how the 6 pro gets you to the location to take these beautiful shots as a pilot this navigational technology is superb and Google has allowed other tech users to have this for years
:))))))))))) Nobody is allowing anything. Apple has built their own maps, Huawei has build Petal Maps, and the satellites are not Google's. GPS navigation exists long before google :))))))
Ideally consumers should not have to wait for software updates after purchase though. You are buying an unfinished product then. I know this is not just Google doing this.
@@ThomasGillot oh for sure! Especially at these prices, but I've had almost every Pixel and I just know that's what they're going to do. It's not right, but it's most likely. I feel like they collate data from everyone's uses and figure out what they need to tweak after launch. And I also think they're biting off a lot with the new chip and banking on updates. But I love the native Android OS.
My pixel 3 disagrees. After 3 pixels I went iPhone for first time ever. Software update also broke thre camera on my girlfriend’s pixel2 (confirmed issue for many others) but yeah the pricing is way more attractive, and lots of room for improvement. Just sick of planned obsolescence and yeah we are all screwed there
@@Blacknyell0w Only because they couldn't support it longer due to drivers not being supported longer. That problem goes away with the new Tensor chip.
Dude! Your lighting is insanely good. I can't believe the jump in quality since oyu'v taken on a partner on the channel. I hope you're getting more personal time. Your videos are getting and looking insanely good.
In case anyone didn't notice, the Pixel 6/6 Pro could be the true successors of the Huawei Nexus 6P which came out 6 years ago. Googles use of a horizontal camera strip or module for its Pixel 6 series is similar to that of the Nexus 6P. Aside from the design, I've also noticed the use of the number 6 in the names, and the number of years separating them. 😁
The pixel 2 and 2 xl night sight mode came after a year but the difference was night and day. So I am confident that pixel 6 camera will get much improvement in coming feature drops.
@@eryck123 it depends I prefer taking videos as they are something that I can rewatch later, and feel like I’m living the full moment again and not just a part of it. Regardless some people consider photos more important, so it depends on your preferences.

I've seen so many camera comparisons and this is the only one that mentioned the duration of the post-processing, which made all the difference for me.
Pixel has traditionally made big improvements quickly with their photo software. Wonder how many of your comments will be fixed/ different within 3 months.
You're probably right but we should as consumers fight this Companies should finish developing their product I have personally experienced it with oneplus 8 pro the cameras were kind of $hit untill a software update which made them flagship comparable
@@ChrisChoi123 not a promise, just a observation of the significant improvements rolled out over the life of every singe pixel phone. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if the battery was 10-20% better and many camera / video features vastly improved. Especially considering that they just switched to this new sensor.
When it gets down to it, unless you are a content creator, work in video or something, both of these phones pictures and video will more than meet and exceed your needs. For the average consumer, don't even worry about trying to compare the picture/video of these phones. Just go with the OS you favor. You won't go wrong.

Well 2 yrs on now after i first watched your video and i bought the Pixel 6 pro , watching the video again just now i was amazed how accurate your video was back then ! , i have taken thousands of videos and photo's with the Pixel 6 pro phone and yes it is an outstanding camera so much it is pretty much my go to camera , convenient as its in my pocket , saying that if i want the best photo's i would use my full frame Nikon of course . It does take incredible phone photos but not in the same class as a full frame DSLR .. Key points i use the most is 4K cinema mode, the main camera ( the zoom 4x camera is not much good), Astro mode not only for incredible Milky way photo's but any night type photo's . I mount it to a 3 axis gimbal not so much it needs it but lets me get closer to the action as it makes me look more serious about filming and people move away for better footage ..instead of just blending in like every one else just holding their phones ..Yes it has improved with updates and i get so much excitement when i use it . Just a note , some of the images and a lot more lately have a blue tinge to them and using the built in software warming up the image improves it so much i just had to mention it makes a huge difference to the quality ..
I have a feeling that some of the Pixel shortcomings can be addressed with software updates. That said the A15’s power allows for real-time processing of photos and videos which is a huge advantage. I’m hoping that with future Tensor releases we can see increased power.
Exactly, Googles tensor is way behind iphones a15 chip in terms of processing power, they should have just use snapdragon this year, or partnered with them for a custom chip. Tensor is slower than apples a12
@@dagnisnierlins188 everything is slower than A15. Evern previous. Apple in general is leaps ahead. Just look at m1 and m1pro chips. This is coming from an android user who is getting a pixel.
I would say I don’t comment that much on RUclips videos but I have to thank you for your insight on phones I have not regret any of my purchases thanks to you keep the great work man 👍🏿
FYI, the Google night mode uses an adaptive shutter speed. It is looking at accelerometer data leading up to the shutter button, to determine a viable shutter speed / capture time. Since you were on a tripod, it sees exceptional stability and goes for a very long capture. A handheld shot will capture much faster.
@@MPD90 it's sort of true. If the pixel feels stability, it will switch to astrophotography mode and do the 4 minute shutter speed. Otherwise it sticks to around 4 seconds
FYI iPhone does the same. It can go up to 30 seconds if it’s dark enough. It varies between 0-10 seconds in handheld and up to 30 seconds on the tripod/flat surface.
@@joaqstarr it's not binary like that. Astrophotography mode is just a continuation, when it senses nearly full darkness and complete stability. Just tested my Pixel 4 in a dim room. With the camera dead still, it captured for about 5 seconds and reported a 1/1 shutter speed. For the exact scene, handheld very stable, the capture time was significantly shorter and the shutter speed shows 1/4. Then intentionally shaking my hand, the capture time was under 2 seconds and the reported shutter 1/7. It's a very dynamic thing. It is considering stability of the camera AND motion in the scene to make these choices (how many images to capture and what shutter speed).
@@APEX.86 I tested in a dim room and a pitch black room. It takes longer in the pitch black room, though i couldn't see any difference caused by camera shake
When I saw the video length I said, "Ok, I'll start it and skip to the ending," but it flew by so fast. I completely agree. This seemed like a 5 minutes video.
As someone who has had 4 pixels. I am almost 100%sure the camera improves through software over time. The biggest jump for me was the 3XL. The time from when I got it to the time I upgraded the photos increased so much.
@@outcastriley the compression still hits 4k and even 8k videos very, very hard. To really enjoy what the editor/youtuber meant for the viewers to see, you would have to have either the lossless video or just the original rendered video.

Amazing production for this video! However, I don't think adding a "floaty dust" filter is the best thing for a video where you're comparing the visual detail of two cameras...
Hey! I love your comparisons, they're so well thought out and interesting. Could you possibly add a section where you add the images to social media and see how the apps read the images and your verdict for which images have been processed better etc ... I find that it's a constant battle trying to find an android phone that Snapchat and Instagram don't butcher the images of. So this would be a great addition to what is already a fab video! Love from the UK
i havent finished the video so im not sure if he mentioned it, but in another video- i think it was mkbhd? its said that apps will be optimised for this phone specifically- so snapchat, instagram, whatsapp etc should be using the phones usual camera quality !!
@@beccasn8725 Yehh, you're right! But I often find that there is always a discrepancy. I say this because I've bought my 2nd phone now and it has the same problem. Hopefully, these app developers can figure a way to reduce the amount of compression

I say for once the camera's are equal, that one issue with the software will most definitely get fixed in an update. They usually listen to the community pretty well when it comes to the camera app.
It is likely that it's not just software issue when it comes to real time processing. Apple has good image signal processors in its chips. It is very difficult to simulate that efficiency in software which is where Google is taking a hit.
What I took from this: Photography: Google Pixel Video Filming: iPhone No denying this might be the only phone that equals iphone, hopefully in future google beats apple. Google has some really good AI all round.
This was a great video. Tbh this is probably my second video of yours and I am very very impressed by the quality and thorougness in your video and am like on a spree to watch your other videos. Also thank you for spending so much time to get this comparison.
This came up automatically while watching some Pixel videos and I just wanted to say that I moved from the Pixel 3XL to the Pixel 6 this month, and I got extremely excited about the camera. The pictures I took looked stellar. The background blurring in portrait mode seems to be much smarter this round and was able to figure out my curly hair and has finally stopped getting confused about where my head begins and ends. So I was really surprised that when I was posting picture comparisons excitedly on Facebook and looked at them myself... I didn't really notice a huge noticeable difference? Maybe I should put those photos on my actual computer and look at them. Facebook isn't exactly the place to see photo quality LOL. But as an artist it really disappointed me that I was struggling to see a difference at all in that context, since Facebook is often my main source of exposure for any photos I take of my artwork.
Camera is a lot of snake oil marketing. Ultimately, taking a photo is just recording the light that falls on the sensor and then accurately transforming the colors so they look right on the screen. It's been like this for kinda 2 decades now. So in order to sell newer cameras they have to make up exaggerated claims about "revolutionary" new features only to end up with basically the same thing everyone else has done. Because once you've accurately recorded the light and transformed the color space ... what else is there really to do?
I always enjoy the details, enjoy the content and boy, the editing on this video just shows that you're improving exponentially. Keep up the good work, much love!

A year from now I'd expect a rematch between these two. I can imagine the software team will improve in all these area's after several software updates both from App updates to firmware updates to the phone.
They already won in some area due to their software lol. Like mainly post processing such as the night light photos. Apple is still better in both pre and post processing.
It will be very funny to compare Pixel 6 and iPhone 13 after a year because I'm 90% sure if Apple releases new camera features with their new phone, the 13 won't get it cause, y'know Apple.

I feel like Google will address these issues with software updates. They're really great about continually improving the phone you already own.

Both have amazing cameras and it's all about preference at this point.
