Overall summary of the video. 1. Cinematic mode - iPhone 14 pro * The pixel could be better if the blur can be more consistent and video should be at least 4k. 2. Zoom shots - pixel 7 pro * A clear win for the pixel 3. Ultra wide - iPhone 14 pro * Pixel is not far behind though. 4. 1x - pixel 7 pro * In some instances the iPhone will do better but overall pixel wins. 5. Portrait mode - iPhone 14 pro * Pixel renders skin tone better but suffers from blur cut out of the subject 6. Video - iPhone 14 pro * Pixel could be better with some fine tuning to the colours 7. Stabilization - 50/50 * Both do well 8. Lowlight photos - pixel 7 pro * The iPhone is not far behind though 9. Lowlight video - iPhone 14 pro * The pixel's video has noise 10. Dynamic range - pixel 7 pro * The iPhone is not far behind 11. Mic - pixel 7 pro * iPhone's mic is good but doesn't separate voice from the background so well. 13. Macro mode - 50/50 * But the iPhone can get a bit more closer to the subject 14. Selfie photos - 50/50 * iPhone renders skin slight better 15. Selfie video - iPhone 14 pro * The pixel is not far behind Other iPhone clear wins : * iPhone switches between lenses smoothly * Stabilization mode has higher resolution while pixel still does it in 1080P * Pro- Res Other clear wins for the pixel: * Has more features * It is more fun to use than the iPhone's camera Final verdict: Both phones are great and they both perform better than the other in different scenarios, it's up to you decide which phone you prefer based on your priorities when using a camera. If you prioritise video, portraits, stabilization, cinematic mode and you use the ultra wide a lot then go for the iPhone but if you want a reliable phone for point and shoot and also if you like zooming a lot then the pixel is for you.
Ultrawide from seeing other videos too is generally better on pixel. Got to take in price as well, what pixel is doing for significantly less is pretty amazing.
Thanks for the video. Both have excellent cameras. The camera quality is in this case not the aspect that should be relevant for making the choice. Please, just in case you compared P7 with S21U, do not forget the unblur (remaster picture) on S21U, or the object eraser.
Really amazed that pixel pulled out so far with their cameras and minds are blown. I jumped the ship after waiting for P6 last year from Android to iOS with the IP 13. Since video and photo quality mattered a lot to me and iPhone is still ahead even this year in video in the harshest of conditions plus content creation aspects with ProRaw and ProRes are just next level. But if I wouldn't have switched to iOS I may have just stayed with Android and P7 pro and also if video (specially at low light) didn't matter to me as well. Still, anyone who doesn't care about the video that much (it's a 8 to 9.5 comparison anyways) should go with the pixel 7. I mean i love the features and what tensor can do, it is kind of the smartest phone around and I'm so jealous right now that why didn't this happen last year.
Wow! How did I get into the first 20 comments? JK, thanks for the great review and comparison, I might just wait for the 15 and USB-C. My 8 plus will definitely be ready to trade in! I'm not surprised that iPhone holds the crown for video, and the pixel for photo. I really wish Apple would add astrophotography tools for those of us into that sort of thing! We want 48 MP with night shots!
Exactly as you said "with a bit of role-reversal" in picture brightness......I was disappointed with the P6P and ultimately returned it, but am pretty excited now seeing your results with the P7P.
At 3:49 I noticed how the iPhone made Sarah's skin tone a tad warm/yellowish. I really want to use the iPhone to vlog but I find the yellowing/warming of the skin very frustrating. Is there a way to change that or a setting to adjust to stop the iPhone camera from making skin color yellow, warm, even sometimes kind of orange? Thanks
I have had the pixel 6 pro for a year now and it's really good so far. I don't think I need to upgrade this year, I didn't see big improvements in terms of camera and I saw another video about the performance and the same thing there isn't anything worth upgrading. I'll wait for the 8 pro I think it'll be more worth it. The only thing I hope they'll work better on is low light videos/photos. Other than that I'm really happy with what I have now.
Both look great. From the reviews I have seen and read 'till now, both are 'minor' upgrades compared to last gen regarding the camera's. A bit better, but nothing revolutionary.
It all comes down to what you prefer overall. There's some shots in this video where I put the Pixel over the iPhone and vise versa. The video recording however, I have to tip the scale more to iPhone.
video - iphone cinematic - iphone Potrait - Both selfie - both night - pixel overall in potraits - pixel because of features and post editing overall in video - Iphone is king
For me is Pixel for photos and iPhone for videos. If I was forced to choose one, I would go with the iPhone as it looks far more polished and reliable to me than the Pixel. When you consider prices tho, as someone who lives in the Eurozone, it's hard to look at an iPhone as an "everyday phone" because it's €1.339 for the base (128GB) iPhone 14 Pro (non-Max) which is straight awful but it's a common thing with iPhones here: even the base iPhone 14 goes for more than 1k...
2 very important things I like more on the iPhone were missing in the test. 1. night mode shots take much longer than on the iPhone. 2. No word of 48 mp pro raw. When you use this setting nothing is oversharpened anymore. And you have much more detail when zooming in.
If you can find it (it's no longer sold new): A Scansnap IX500. There is also an Evernote edition which you can convert easily (software update) to make it a Scansnap IX500 too. It''s able to just take a stack of photos and scan them, as if its a printer. If you have a lot of photo''s you don''t want to put every image into a scanner, single scan, next one. It also works through Wifi so you don't even need to connect it to a PC to scan!
Video is superior on the iPhone including the cinematic mode, but the camera, particuarly the 5x zoom is clearly better on Pixel. For an £800 phone compared to the iPhone £1099 (UK), it's a very clear winner in terms of price to performance. I still personally prefer the iPhone however as an overall device and its user experience. If I could affod to, I would get this Pixe as a second phone. Great video and comparison. Also that absolute titanic GPU (4090?) on your desk xD
I heard you say that the magic eraser is exclusive to pixel . Although the galaxy s22 ultra has a object remover located in the gallery . When there you select edit then select the three dots in right hand corner and object eraser can be selected.
They're both amazing, equally impressive, mostly. But I'm still in awe of video quality of my old 2nd gen iPhone SE and watching this because I'm considering a Pixel for my next phone.
It seems like google has the software advantage and the zoom while Apple has the remaining hardware advantage. Given the available apps, hardware that handles the low-light preventing noise is vital where as a long zoom is a luxury for me. Thanks for such an incredible side by side!!!
The pixel is quite good. We just need to give Google some time to settle and boost up their tenser chip and then we could see Google true potential. But for now the quality is good! Great video with an abundance of details and exemple. We'll done
In India Pixel❤️costs 84,999 Rupees in India comparing to iPhone 14 pro Max which costs 1,49,999 Rupees🤦... So Pixel is the best Flagship option in India💯
If we are looking at the cameras only, I would say iphone is better all-around. But the price of iphone is quiet a bit higher than pixel. So we might need to compare further down the list. The accessibility (USB Type-c vs lightning), waste heat, battery life and weight etc. But I think pixel 7 does improved a lot from its predecessor. It is tempting to switch to pixel.
I bought the P7P from the Google store and switched carriers from T-Mobile to Google Fi for a price of $600 for the phone. The phone I got has the memory upgrade from 128 Gb to 256 Gb which added $100 to the cost. This was the best deal that I could see in a top-tier phone
If we not consider the price we can absolutely admit that both are next gen cameras. This year's iPhone brings so much more details than any other phone and the fact that the pixel can match it is absolutely insane. To my eyes and on my 27 inch gaming monitor which is not particularly good for that job both look absolutely stunning in good conditions but the iPhone seems better in the less than perfect conditions. For example both look stunning in sunny videos but the iPhone looks better in indoor and low light video. Both look very good when zooming in at closer distances but the iPhone looks better in low light. Beyond 5x i think the Pixel takes it in every scenario. In low light shooting both actually look very nice and the astro mode on Pixel is next level. But in every case where the iPhone seems better it is definitely not $300+ better
the color on the pixel while zooming in as well as how long it takes to actually switch is a bit disappointing. Hopefully they can continue to tweak it in software updates. Not sure how much they can improve the switch on the zoom as it may be slightly limited by processing power but hopefully the color transition at least will be better.
@@bray2079 well the feature is not just for photographers is it? anyone who doesn't know how to use said app can just do those things in one click which is really handy
The difference is between consistency. The iPhone is more consistent when it comes to some cases. Only probably because they have time to fine tune some of the last years features. iPhone is more focused only on their devices while Google is not focused enough on your devices but focuses on everything else around their devices. That messes up the time for refinements for them. I think Microsoft is actually doing better with their new SQ3 in their AI features that they just launched. Google should really focus on one thing at a time.
Another thing is people say they want true to life pictures with more realistic colors and no sharpening. And then just to edit the pictures with more saturation and sharpening to an unedited picture. No wonder the iPhone went down the route that they did. The best way I can explain it is it's computational editing. They should have the option to have that off or on but that's it.
A very good review, I have never seen so many bad pictures coming out of the iPhone, Just about every picture is tinted yellow, which is completely unatral, and over sharpened, with out a doubt the pixel 7 Pro telephoto lens is far better......

* iPhone's mic is good but doesn't separate voice from the background so well.
13. Macro mode - 50/50
* But the iPhone can get a bit more closer to the subject
14. Selfie photos - 50/50
* iPhone renders skin slight better
15. Selfie video - iPhone 14 pro
* The pixel is not far behind
Other iPhone clear wins :
* iPhone switches between lenses smoothly
* Stabilization mode has higher resolution while pixel still does it in 1080P
* Pro- Res
Other clear wins for the pixel:
* Has more features
* It is more fun to use than the iPhone's camera
Final verdict: Both phones are great and they both perform better than the other in different scenarios, it's up to you decide which phone you prefer based on your priorities when using a camera.
I much prefer the Pixel
Great video my man and the quality of your videos are so great in general oke of my favourite techtuber
Great video, I have a Pixel coming tomorrow I can't wait. I am upgrading from a OnePlus 6 so big jump.
Pixel for photos + zoom, iphone for video
I was waiting for this. Thank you!
pixel looks surprisingly good!
Great comparison! Thank you!
Amazing camera comprising as always bro
This is how every camera video should be done. Excellent
Excellent comparison! Happy to see that my Pixel 7 Pro will be everything I want in photography once it arrives in the mail.
Thanks
Do you record iPhone video with HDR on or off for these kind of tests? Cheers.
Is there a micro lens in the pixel 7 or software??
Yep that’s fair
Great review, do more this review please.
Overall I think Pixel 7 Pro is a bit better for me, how colors look, in photos but definitely iPhone is the video king
It all comes down to what you prefer overall. There's some shots in this video where I put the Pixel over the iPhone and vise versa. The video recording however, I have to tip the scale more to iPhone.
Android user and I must say that the iPhone comes out ahead, especially for video.
video - iphone
cinematic - iphone
Potrait - Both
selfie - both
night - pixel
overall in potraits - pixel because of features and post editing
overall in video - Iphone is king
An actually useful demonstration! Excellent work. Thanks for including the audio recording on both phones as well.
What photo scanner did you use? I need to scans some pictures
True
Been waiting for your review ,love it so much, nothing beats the iphone when it comes to video quality but the pixel is really now catching up,love it
Hallo, ein sehr gutes Video von dir
Welche der beiden Smartphones hat deiner Meinung nach die bessere Selfie Kamera?
Amazing video tech chap
Great comparison! Will you do a full Pixel 7/7 Pro review?
What a brilliant review ❤
They're both amazing, equally impressive, mostly. But I'm still in awe of video quality of my old 2nd gen iPhone SE and watching this because I'm considering a Pixel for my next phone.
It’s mind blowing where iPhone is really headed 🫡🤦♂️
Almost impossible to decide....they are so good both !
Why do I feel that this video was made in Coventry ^_^
Great review btw
But in every case where the iPhone seems better it is definitely not $300+ better
very nice and impressive review.
Google’s computational photography in some cases seems way ahead of Apples. Love the unblur feature
Cinematic mode .... Apple destroyed Google.
I love this video, any way though that you can do a low light/night time comparison?
Hey @TheTechChap this reply looks like a fake account posing as you
the color on the pixel while zooming in as well as how long it takes to actually switch is a bit disappointing. Hopefully they can continue to tweak it in software updates. Not sure how much they can improve the switch on the zoom as it may be slightly limited by processing power but hopefully the color transition at least will be better.
Unblur just looks like a clarity and sharpening increase you could do in Lightroom. Maybe it is the use case .
Yep, only without Lightroom
@@cprice1 well anyone who truly cares about photography uses some type of photoshop editing app
@@bray2079 well the feature is not just for photographers is it? anyone who doesn't know how to use said app can just do those things in one click which is really handy
Basically if you mainly shoot photos go with pixel.
If you mainly shoot videos, go with iPhone.
Thank you so much, this is a really useful video that you can depend on making your choice. Thanks again
Nice video mate. Clearly Iphone still in front, but Pixel has come a long road to really cut the difference between these and the last generation.
A very good review, I have never seen so many bad pictures coming out of the iPhone,
Just about every picture is tinted yellow, which is completely unatral, and over sharpened, with out a doubt the pixel 7 Pro telephoto lens is far better......
For day light photos pixel 7 pro is the king and value for money for sure except videos 😑
