I have been playing the guitar for 26 years as an amateur, but after all these videos at the Chet Atkins convention, Nashville TN, July 2018, I feel like an absolute beginner. As if, I had learned to play yesterday. OK. My guitar-world is actually high-distortion e-guitar and hard rock something like Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, Andy Timmons, Sergey Golovin, Andy James, Steve Morse, Steve Vai, and so on. Don’t understand me wrong, they are all great guitarists, but this performance opens a new universe for me. You guys are absolutely awesome. You do not need electric to play, you generate electric. Big flashes in calm atmosphere. I bow with humility and admiration and hope you guys would live at least other 100 years hoping to experience the development of your great music. Greetings from Switzerland. Please come all three together to Switzerland to play here. Thanks RUclips. Translated with help from Google.
Même ressenti, si seulement tous les guitaristes pouvaient prendre ces leçons qui sont en plus des plaisirs intenses (même si on a envie de balancer sa gratte)... De France :o-))
Two guys on top of their game. Anyone can play the notes but they add the colour, light and shade that makes a tune burst into life. This has sure has brightened my morning. Thanks for posting.
I've been playing guitar for 4 years now. As I'm watching this I don't know if throw my guitar away or if start practicing like there is no tomorrow. I'm brazilian, thus my style of playing the guitar is very different, samba and choro are really away from blues. Even though my roots or my guidelines are apart from this genre (despite the shared african influences), I can't stop my self but to love north american guitar and the blues and be more in love each day. Loving hugs from Brazil! Keep the guitar culture alive... Nylon or steel strings, we're all on the same team. Sorry for any grammar mistakes as I'm not a native speaker. Stay strong!
I've been playing for going on 20 years, and I can tell you for sure that people who have been playing even longer and are much better than myself have the same reaction when they see Tommy and Richard play haha, they are insanely good. Never give up, I spent over a decade trying to play metal guitar and now I'm learning Tommy songs, poorly but still getting there.
Listen to your greatest players , Luis Bonfa, and Baden Power, who toured Europe playing with many fine jazz players. Many transcriptions can found online at “ Brazil on Guitar”. Also on RUclips Richard plays “ Danza Paraguena”. ( Barrios) Richard is a master.

Wrong! Your English is good, and don't break your guitar...keep playing, and don't compare yourself to those who are more skilled...just have fun playing. To get better at anything: practice, practice, practice!
No need, practice hard, and you will evolve. Looking back over 15 years ago, I can play stuff I would have never dreamed of. Passion overcomes everything. Keep practicing! Cheers!
Next event Tommy and team…Dim the lights, get a small disco ball and get put the chairs aside and get the crowd out of the chairs for a boogie seriously yiu can see loads want to express themselves with an air guitar in hand😀❤️
Tem muito guitarrista famoso que pensa que é fera,na frente desses gênios parecem amadores, cada frase, cada arpejo cada nota são incríveis, fora a técnica que é de outro mundo!
I was going to see Tommy for the first time back in September of 2019 in Chicago, but he postponed to April 20, 2020 because of sickness, but now I'm quite sure that will be postponed due to, well, YOU KNOW. So anyway, I'm well aware of Tommy's talents, but this Richard Smith guy is just killer as well!
Tommy was on tour here in Ireland in Jan...I got to see him in Limerick in the University Concert hall... Do go and see him whenever you get a chance...he is truly Amazing.. And he did a meet and greet after the show..
Where's the other guy? 🤔 These three together make some sweet music. Proof you don't need drums, bass, and even a lead vocalist. A result of Years of practice and dedication
When and where was that? I’ve seen him 3 times in 3 different U.S. cities over the years and every time it was packed, even once in the middle of Iowa (Des Moines 2012, easily the best concert I’ve ever been to)
Richard and Tommy would be like Lebrun James and Michael Jordan playing on the same team. Absolutely stunning how good they are. Savants of the highest caliber. I love Tommy's emotion and happiness. Brings joy to my heart. I would love if they came to America 🇺🇸 on tour. Please guys, the USA needs some real music not this BS on pop charts now, total rubbish. They never even look at the fretboard, they aren't human I swear
J StL - Hey - the audience are sitting down, but they are there to see the players. So out of respect to the audience you should stand. Tommy is not blocking other players - there is no one behind him, they are all side by side.
I could listen to Tommy and Rich all day ever day and never get bored. And how privileged are we that they're friends and love playing together?!
One of the best parts of watching Tommy is how much fun he is always having
could just listen to this all day
Back here in 2024. Can't listen without smiling.
I hope these people realize how great it is to see these guys TOGETHER! One alone is fantastic, but both of them together is a delight to the ears!

@@johnnyx9892 Tommy, Rich, and Brent in the same room is like hearing the GODS playing guitar together.
it's ok but you dont have to copy+paste the same note in every video you watch.

@@ayokay123 Richard needs to lose some weight though. I'm worried he might have health issues and we wont have his brilliant playing.
@@peurehumphrey6568 D'accord, mon vieux, sacre bleu. C'est trop vrai n'est-ce pas?
Any time I feel dpressed over this Covid thing, I just watch these amazing guys, and all is right with the world!

Love watching Tommy and Richard playing like 2 kids off each other. I hope they have many more years
Such an amazing entertainer and all over good man who wants to make people happy through his music.
Do you mean Richard or Tommy?
I knew about 10 seconds in that this would be great...I'm seriously blown away...BRAVO, GENTLEMEN!!
Couple of virtuoso guitar players, right there...! Love it...!
Four days of this in a row every summer will set you right.
Richard Smith is also a fine connoisseur of fashion.
After listening to this, I'm gonna chop up my guitar for firewood. C'mon how could you not absolutely love these two guys.
dont chop up your guitar use this as inspiration.go practice.......go on
Love it when Richard and Tommy get cutting up together! Something beautiful is gonna happen and does, music
A really cool tune, played by the coolest!!!
The perfect gathering music of any occasion.

Finally a real musician! Damn funny Tommy This is unbelievable
Holy moly guacamole. That was awesome. AMAZING!!!
Thanks to share theses great, nice moments of guitar by 3 genius guitar players... hope to come one time in a CAAS!!!
Beautiful, incredibly!!!!
I love it - amazing👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanx for the music! Makes me smile again!
Beautiful. Just beautiful ! 🤩
I wonder how can they make such music... Amazing
You guys are the best!!!
Disfruto mucho verlos y escucharlos maestros ‼️
awesome music......The real deal
Can’t help but smile..
Ах ты боже мой , классные парни, спасибо , приятно послушать! БРАВО!
MERCI !! C'est super !
I still remember that place....
So sad that Tommy never seems to enjoy what he's doing... Always a pleasure to watch and listen to.
It's because if he takes the time to record something like this, it takes away from the time he could be as he puts it "practicing like a demon".
Toddy or Tuak is traditional drink of my Batak tribe at Tapanuli North Sumatera. This song depicts it very good.
This is awesome
epitome of guitar freedom
Que MARAVILHA!
wish i were here
Спасибо , ребята ! Спасибо , родненькие! Люблю вас , спасу нет! Это хороший джаз! Это - хорошее настроение.
Love Rich's playing but damn he's dressed for after midnight Walmart shopping! Oh well astoundingly good playing though
Yeah, for a world class player, he could do a lot better.
right...maybe he has no mirror at home...
I have never seen Rich dressed any better. Apparently it's not his thing!
This is the clip right after the entertainer I believe
This is so great. Rich is an amazing technical player but it's so nice to see some of Tommy rubbing off on him.
Absolutely brilliant 👏👏👏👏
Excellent!
Twice as nice!
Talent....
my English is bad. I can not express feelings differently. I'm going to break my guitar
Well said friend🖒😊...but dont do that😉
Don't break it. PLAY IT MORE
Dmitry Lyskov don’t do that! Donate it to these guys!

I love you
Big audience for Tommy. The show I say him at was 3/4's empty.

Wo Amasing i like good👍👍👍👍
Is that eric clapton in the second row wearing the red plaid shirt?
No.
Guitarrista de heavy metal não conseguiria fazer uma frase dessas, pense num pessoal que só toca subindo e descendo, parece que a guitarra virou escada!
Absolutely amazing seems too low an opinion!
Seven people didn't like this ? What the Hell........

I would be embarrassed to have a guitar in my hand around them .
What kind of music do you play for yourself????
Is there a hidden orchestra ?
I love watching older, white people listen to music. It's a lot of eyebrows.
What are the scratch on such a beautiful guitar?
Who's the guest guitarist?
That is Jim Nichols. This video is one of eleven from this set, Jim joined then on many. They are all posted on my channel, LMRMAX.
Thanks! I figured he was pretty good for some guy who just walked up out of the audience :)
lmrmax Yeah, Jim isn't too shabby himself!
Why is there scratches on his guitar
hebertracicot Tommy uses that area for a sound effect when playing it sounds like brushes on a drum
Great stuff but I wish Tommy would quit grandstanding and sit down rather than block the other players.
J StL - Hey - the audience are sitting down, but they are there to see the players. So out of respect to the audience you should stand. Tommy is not blocking other players - there is no one behind him, they are all side by side.
