Tommy Emmanuel since his early days has always played the guitar like a kid playing in a school play ground! Only wish I had half his talent to make people smile😊
i saw tommy in a hotel lobby in san francisco the other day. didn't want to bother him as he was about to get in an elevator, but also regret not letting him know how much joy these videos bring me, and how i'd binged them just the night before. funny world.
The fan has been a long under appreciated instrument for generations I'm glad to see it back in modern music. Long may it influence the next generation of fan flickers 😘
I love how Tommy is the "star" here but hes always more than happy to just throw chords around and let the other amazingly talented but less well known musicians shiwcase their ability! Class act!
What an honor just to be in the room with these guys. I hope there were some younger audience members further back, looks like a senior center right up front.
Jim's solos are so sweet and tasty, great timing and colors. Tommy is such a genius, infinite sense of improvisation and groove, Richard really solid and I enjoy some of recognizable Django's lightning licks he put in there. The trio swing like crazy and never rush, if you check the video from beginning to end they keep the same tempo whereas so many things happen in there, high level.
@@jerrylanglois7892 I would agree, but the problem I have when someone is mentioning talent is that it takes away all the hard work these guys probably invested in their guitar playing. When you say they are talented then you impyling that they were kind of born with it and did not have to do anything for it. Furthermore it demotivates anyone who wants to start playing like that, you know, they possibly think they cannot do it because they have no talent. I tell you hard work is the key, not talent. If you want to speaks chinese, you don't need a talent for it. You just have to sit down everyday for at least 20 min and learn your vocabulary and grammar and in five years' time you will be able to speak. Same with the guitar, it is a language in a way. Just learn it. All of you guys and girls out there who want to start playing gypsy jazz, bosa nova, metal, funk, or whatever just do it! Hard work pays off one day, believe me! You can do it!
I have been playing the guitar for 26 years as an amateur, but after all these videos at the Chet Atkins convention, Nashville TN, July 2018, I feel like an absolute beginner. As if, I had learned to play yesterday. OK. My guitar-world is actually high-distortion e-guitar and hard rock something like Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, Andy Timmons, Sergey Golovin, Andy James, Steve Morse, Steve Vai, and so on. Dont understand me wrong, they are all great guitarists, but this performance opens a new universe for me. This is absolutely awesome. You do not need electricity to play, you generate electricity. Big flashes in calm atmosphere. I bow with humility and admiration and hope you would live at least other 100 years hoping to experience the development of your great music. Greetings from Switzerland. Please come all three together to Switzerland to play here. Thanks RUclips. Translated with help form Google.
Lazlo I’ve been playing for 47 years. I can buy a lot of stuff on my acoustics and my electrics I have one guitar in every room of my house except for the kitchen and the bathrooms naturally and I actually have for acoustic guitars in my living room took us to go towards my music room with three electric cars for amplifiers a drum set piano so I am surrounded by music. But these guys would show me if I tried to bend strings with them.
Marco Izquierdo I can't believe you have not heard Tommy Emmanuel! He's the master of fingerstyle. He's one of my favorite guitar players. I play several melodies of him. About 30 songs by now. He's awesome! Greetings!
you just can't play wrong notes after that much training, its just like learning to walk, they probably are not even knowing what the hell they are doing , its just flowing subconsciously without any difficulty.
Wow, I'm speechless how good these 3 are. They aren't human. Such precision and intelligence. Unbelievable. It sounds like 6 or 7 guitarists playing. Wow. Wow. Wow.
Wow! Watching this from remote Yorkshire Dales in UK, what a superb trio, love Tommys unbridled enthusiasm, and the skill level of all 3 is off the Ritchter Scale! Awesome. How to enjoy happy top-rated guitar! ❤️🌻☀️
Three of the best players ever known to man! Tommy will forever be my idol and inspiration to practice harder. 30 years later i still smile when i pick up my guitars.
I just realized at the end that I'm having a wide smile on my face while watching this. Entertaining and they sure are having a great time playing too. Awesome.
This is my favourite kind of acoustic performances. Just people jamming out and having fun all while sounding like absolute machines. Such good vibes. 😁
I watch this vid everytime I procrastinate learning how to play the guitar. It gives me motivation and to remind myself why I want to learn in the first place.
These guys are simply amazing. So much talent, but mostly dedication and practice, practice, practice. None of this was easily won. Years of hard work and the results speak for themselves. Seamless perfection. Bravo.
All three guitarists are incredible and performed perfectly. Richard’s rhythm never went off time and his solos were insane. Tommy is a genius and Jim played interesting solos. Great all around
The guy at the front is absolutely loving life.
Feeling the music and not afraid to show it.
Kraftwerk
I was enjoying this video just like him... Great
Wish I was in the front row too! This is pure music magic!
Girl in back with the hat is hating it
There's at least one fan in the room.
Got it. Good one Fred.
Nunyo Bidness lol, she’s keeping in time with them:)
i see what you did there...
Too funny!
I couldn't stop looking at her
That lady with the fan is swinging her polyrhythms 😆
she is the wife of Richard Smith
Hahaha musician joke
Richard's wife
Any building with that much talent playing at the same time is probably gonna get pretty hot.
It’s actually on beat right ? 😂
I love how happy that one guy in the front row is... and I can see why!
Tommy Emmanuel since his early days has always played the guitar like a kid playing in a school play ground! Only wish I had half his talent to make people smile😊
Most likely because he gets the freeeeesh air ;)
Cause he’s in front of the best acoustic guitar player in the world...
This video makes me cry tears of joy, it's so beautiful so I understand the guy
Segovia was once quoted as saying:” the guitar is the easiest instrument to play badly and the hardest instrument to play properly.”
Love the passion of the guy in the front row, he probably doesn't even play guitar, just lovin' life.
lucky guy.
His name is Tommy Emmanuel. He's a guy from Australia and recognized as one of the best fingerstyle guitarists in the world.
@@louiecorpin7800 He litterally said " He probably doesnt play guitar." How tf did you missunderstand that lmao
@@12censed99 Lmao
What make you saying "probably"? So presumptuous...
Saving this in case I'm ever in a bad mood so I can watch the dude in the front row vibe his heart out
Richard Smith replying to Tommy's solos is amazing. Such a great version. Top tier musicians.
He's so good at keeping that bass run on point.
Theres just something about the classics, nothing like it man.
I’ve watched this 1 million times.
The listener dude with the glasses is in heaven 😄
Gosh look at the guy who requested for this one. He absolutely is loving it. Thats what happiness looks like
After hearing this, there's just happiness left
No anxiety
No fear
No sadness
Just happiness
Music is a great reminder.
Until you try to learn all the crazy licks they playing
@@couleurlourde3352 lmao
Tommy acknowledging how great Jim Nichols' lines are. All are such great players. No showboating here, just amazing music and musicianship.
I love how he laughs when one of the other guys does something he really likes.
a microcosm of Tommy's career and never ending energy, he stands while everyone else sits
The level of musicianship here is stunning !
i saw tommy in a hotel lobby in san francisco the other day. didn't want to bother him as he was about to get in an elevator, but also regret not letting him know how much joy these videos bring me, and how i'd binged them just the night before. funny world.
I love how the fan in the back eventually starts flapping in time... music is infectious
You really dont get to see people play like this anymore. Wonderful performance.
I don't think anybody enjoys it more than Tommy. He is always looking for someone else to enjoy it along with him.😅
The fan has been a long under appreciated instrument for generations I'm glad to see it back in modern music. Long may it influence the next generation of fan flickers 😘
LOL. Julie's also keeping a close eye on her boy's well being in wretched heat.
I've been closely following her career for years. Glad to see her getting some spot light

Im bot even a big jazz fan and ive seen both of the the other guys play guitar on youtube. May not be superstars still amazing musicians regardless
Not be superstars 😱? Richard smith is a hell of a legend.
@@jebin2 A legend? yes and rightly so! a star? not a chance.
@@dannyeglen4750 okay I know how you mean it. He is a star in certain circles.
Emmanuel always tries to "upstage" everyone in the videos I've seen, e.g. Richard playing the Entertainer.
I’ve said before, and I’ll say it again. “Tommy Emmanuel, the greatest of all time.”
Killer bass lines from Jim :)
From Richard, as well. The trades offs are some of the most interesting aspects.
What an honor just to be in the room with these guys. I hope there were some younger audience members further back, looks like a senior center right up front.
Guitar John ;There are younger ones listening and love this stuff. Pure Greatness.
Theres a young guy sitting right next to the hyped up Man with glass.
I'm only about four years late, but I'm 18 and love his playing.
That lady with the fan could have been their drummer the way she kept up with the music beat with her fan, lol
That was Richard Smith's wife, Julie Adams the cello player. She is a professional musician.

That's what I was saying on my comment, Jim's solos are amazing.
He knows where he's at.
Wonderful song, but I wonder what it's called, thank you.
Such great improvisations from all three of these gifted and talented players. Whoo-ho and such a treat listening to them swinging this number.
He’s standing. He doesn’t understand the significance. He’s like a gas. He expands to fill the space around him.
That’s a whole bunch of guitar talent in one spot right there!
That's not a talent anymore, it's a bunch of legends
Aliens.
It’s not talent it’s skill and passion.
@@strategygaming5830 There's definitely lots of of skill and passion but without commensurate talent it doesn't exist.
