      Wrong. As long as their neighbors are respectful they don't care. What they rightly don't want is to buy a single family home on a street of single family homes only to have their neighbors build cheap quad-unit multi-plex homes with 8 cars parked on the street for each lot.

    • @BuhodePiedra
      @BuhodePiedra 3 месяца назад

      @@DemPilafian but the multi million dollar Home owners can each have as many cars as they like in large driveways but normal people who are paying mansion prices for condos can’t have 1 car each? 😑. The older generation has weaponized government against the rest of us. They could show up, make a crappy footing, harvest river rocks and build something like whatever.. now it’s all fines permits fees taxes. The type of stuff that would have our grandparents rolling in their graves. But you got yours so now you’re one of the people making government serve the needs of the wealthy, not the majority. Funny how that works 🤷‍♂️. The only state with prop 13 happens to be the state with the highest home values and Americans equate wealth with power, status, intelligence etc. funny how that worked out also… but the folks that happened to purchase in California back when are not necessarily powerful intelligent or keen on anything other than keeping their home values up.. Which necessarily entails manufacturing scarcity in housing. Terrible game to be playing, let alone defending.

    San Mateo officials have procrastinated for +50 years, and avoided building enough housing, due to pressure from wealthy residents (not all are techies), who want to keep their high property values. Lyanne Melendez is part of that socio-economic group (includes all major TV anchors and top reporters), that's why she agrees with the NIMBY. Competent local officials should have a blueprint for what a city might look like in 20-30 yrs or more. And then plan accordingly (plan enough infrastructure, utilities, etc), many years in ADVANCE. So it's obvious that San Mateo officials continue to drag their feet on the housing issue. It's ridiculous that they didn't know the Bridgepointe mall contract doesn't allow housing until 2056. ALL those interviewed residents are hypocrite NIMBYs who perpetuated the problem (opposed building projects) and now pretend to agree on TV, that housing is needed. BUT they said only if it's done "correctly". Why? because they want to give themselves an excuse to continue to oppose new housing projects. Just more BS crap nonsense from entitled wealthy hwites.
