Man, I’m just gonna be honest. We all watch Steel. They are delusional to believe that they would have any chance to beat Steel with less latency. We saw them fight and can tell they aren’t on the same level at all.
i get their point, as a player from Aus stuck playing against alot of NA in alot of games the lag in some games does give a gross advantage in that there's been moments where i should've died but havent. in that vein there's been the opposite moments when i've died having dodged strikes and been 20 ft away but still taken strikes. any form of comp should have players location taken into account. it's not that you're bad, don't get me wrong, i love your vids, but you yourself even said the latency played into your favour trading.
glad you called out the sheer ignorance of those throwing laggard accustations (I'm na east and from playing you many times i know your net is solid with no packet loss), that being said, TO's fault for not region locking the tournament as in my opinion high lat like PL to SA is far less competitive, especially when there's a decently big prize pool involved.
But yeah saying you know you're a laggard and you know how to use that to win is crazy and it invalidates the effort you put into to winning (even though that 1v1 bracket was easy meal), not cool
Steel finally getting karma for calling other people laggards and shitters as if they are the issue, even though the game is lagging for both sides. I'm from middle east and so usually i am on the receiving end of this treatment, kinda glad you and hopefully others get to understand what it feels like to be constantly treated as some sort of laggard shitter who's intentionally lag switching or something and is also somehow at a 100% advantage from the lag all the time. It's worth clarifying I don't hate you steel i really do like you, and i hope this bit of hating from the other childish and idiotic and clueless/ignorant streamers audiences goes away quickly, but also benfits you and the community here as a lesson to be more understanding when dealing with terrible connections TO and FROM other players.

I think the biggest problem with latency and how unfair it felt while watching the tournament is how it works with status buildup with phantom hits. There is nothing anyone can do to prevent it so it just kind of felt cheap. Felt the worst in the final and the second match against LilAggy where after the status buildup is applied it is essentially over even though barely any of those hits connect on the other end. I doubt having less latency would've changed the outcome one bit. That win was very much deserved
This shit makes me so mad. If there was no latency, Steel would have erased every single player in seconds. He would have deleted these pos xenophobes immediately.
I think the complaint about a bad connection is perfectly valid, but anything further than that would just be ridiculous. Obviously you’re a very good player. That aside, yes, there should be regional brackets (NA, EU, etc); I don’t think that’s ridiculous to consider. Plenty of competitions like for Melee are pretty strict about that. I think everyone knows just how big of an advantage bad ping can really give a good, or even just decent player, in Souls games. It does start to border on being a mildly unfair situation, to being basically unwinnable.
😂one of the best pvpers in the game vrs pve players it is insane to think that he wouldn’t win if chase was there instead he would have also destroyed all of them 😂
Salty casuals angry that dude who ALSO suffers from latency problems by living far away... wins. How can they not see that if they're having lag issues, so is the other person. Such salty behavior is bad for any competition.
That wasnt even that laggy though 😂 iv had invasions that are way worse than that and iv still been fine and thats a 3v1 hahaha they got outplayed and are complaining typical. And yeah i perfer ER on my series x over my pc
@@TheHogfatherInvades even other PvP players found his lag hard to deal with. In 3v3s Oroboro and Scott Jund found it so bad they stopped trying to kill Steel and focused on his teammates as much as possible.
Poland has the best network connections in the world. Steel is from Poland. Steel is laggar? This doesn't make sense. The connection across Europe is better than in the NA between coasts. People don't know anything about something but always assume it's your fault, which is ridiculous.
Blaming a player for having a latency advantage is just a way to belittle him and justify your own mistakes. Of course if the opponent has a terrible connection at that point the game becomes unplayable , but watching the videos it doesn't seem to me that in the duels with Steelovsky there was so much of it to make the game unplayable and also a good player would know how to manage the latency. You literally just have to dodge in advance even if you think you are far enough away, because usually with the latency certain attacks seem to have a range almost doubled, but if you know how to predict it, it doesn't create so many problems. Also latency often gives disadvantages to both sides
So... Fromsoft might be deciding to clear the buffer when they want, not when they need, making the compacting algorithm take longer and possibly create ordering problems, which cause greater packet loss since their way is to drop whole 40 packets if one is misplaced. And on top of that, the algo is used on already compacted data, which created further lag despite the algo normally doing only one check if data is already compacted due to that same not flushing of the buffer ? And in addition, they use their own method to send notifications of sent bunches of 40 packets ?

Elden rings most popular online feature is coop
By their next game I doubt pvp will even be included
@@xdclancer8847 thats not the majority though
@@xdclancer8847 bro i heard it all already. last time in 2016 when ds3 released.. almost the same comments and yet here we are in 2024 playing elden ring pvp.. .
FS won't abbandon multiplayer just because of some random players claiming nobody likes the pvp..
It's a well known fact for a while in the souls PvP community that living in "F*CKING POLAND!" gives you an unfair advantage
LMAO
Pvers just now figuring out what latency is for the first time is hilarious. These people know nothing as always and should never have a say in anything lol
In an invasion latency can just derail everything, but duels are more of a controlled environment. 1 source of danger, 1 thing to dodge or outspace and so on. Latency can still be infurating in the arena, but that is the game being bad. Why didn't they host this on seemles is beyond me... From the footage everybody can see that both sides were struggling. IDFK what the problem is : |
Bandai said no to seamless coop on tournament as i know
@@erudiaborosu3932 cheers for explaining. Still makes no fukken sense in me eyes, but at least I now know why!
From what I heard bandai was involved and they only wanted to use official
@@ALUCARDTWILLIGHTThat's to be expected within an official tournament. Use of mods in that scenario implies approval of said mods rather than simple complacency/indifference to their existence which is the stance most companies will take, at least publicly.
People in NA surprised that other countries exist beside theirs lol
yep, every single person that has ever sent me hatemail and called me a laggard was an american which says a lot 😂
I watched the whole tourney live. they couldve done this as a LAN party and steel still would’ve won. waifu, oro and montage would be the others that have done well. DEN guy was good too I forgot his name tho.
i hate latency and netcode in this game but ability to adapt to higher ms is also a knowledge check and skill. Sometimes you play with the cards you’re dealt with.
i thought steel lost 3v3 tourney. literally evveryone was complaining about his latency and being unhiittable even when he was constantly the last one alive on his team and being focused lol
@@terrycruise-zd5tw He lost 3v3, won 1v1. In 3v3 Oro’s team had ScottJund, he played a mage character really well and 200RL its not surprising that a PVPer mage could make all the difference.
@@terrycruise-zd5twLatency goes on both ends. Steel had to deal with the same level of lag as the people complaining about him. Also blame FromSoft for not fixing Elden Ring’s terrible netcode.
@@terrycruise-zd5tw 3v3 was won by Otz's team though who beat Steel's team. Otz had Oro and Scott Jund on his team, two experienced PvP players with Scott arguably the most experienced PvP mage since most others don't bother with mage in PvP. They outright ignored Steel as much as possible due to the latency and instead targeted his teammates.
yeah some streamer audiences are not very smart or they are just ignorant as to elden ring pc problems.
Bro 90% of twitch chatters have never played the game i swear 😂 the amount of times iv put a stream of a challenge run on and just glanced over at chat and read some of it its clear they have either never played the game or they have done a single casual run and thats it. And thats pve knowledge, pvp is its own beast
Most don’t even play the game or have a console at all. Just watch videos.
to be fair most adults have jobs and have to, you know, do things? like buy food, clean their home (if they have one) make appointments so on so forth. they don't have the time much less interest and dedication to understand FS networking. I don't think the guys working AT FROMSOFT have the time to understand it. The East is going through population troubles in many places, the problems that lead to those troubles also effect people's free time. and those places that aren't, aren't really wonderful places full of PS5's and the free time and money to play said PS5's. Much of the West isn't much better.
The streamers have no excuse tho lmao, get invited to a tourney and get bodied and all they can do is cry about lag... like have they ever heard of Smash Ultimate? oh wait they don't play fun or good video games they play variety crap that someone paid them to or meme shit from their chats.
@@greenpinapple820 if they dont have knowledge on the subject they shouldnt be talking about it like they understand
The casters said that the lag went both ways.
No obviously it only matters when my favourite streamer is losing
Lag benefits worse players more than better ones imo
I’d pay good money to see this tournament host on seamless and watch all the pve’r pop their blood vessel to realize how shit they actually are
So the entire Topic can be summarized into:
Was Latency having an Impact on those Duels? Yes.
Was it a deciding factor on the outcome of those Duels? No.
It reminds me of Wings of Redemption, where the ego outweighs their gaming abilities. It sounds like a skill issue.
It’s funny how if this tournament was done on ps4/5 than all these problems wouldn’t have been an issue or at least greatly reduced
Nope, it should have been done in seamless coop
@@ni9274The thing is mods can't be used in an official tournament. So either get Bamco out as a sponsor, or settle for console version as the next best thing.
@@Knoloaify they banned mods, but they didn't care that everyone obviously was using builds not made in a completely legit way? That's ridiculous
@multifleks Obviously, making the build isn't part of the event, how the competitors made their built is irrelevant as long as they respect the rules once the event start.

Ngl that girl was pissing me off. She has no idea what she’s talking about.
1 - connection is peer to peer so lag goes both ways
2 - Netcode is bad due to easy anticheat
3 - lag bridges the skill gap between shit players and great players. Aka the lag gave steel a higher chance of losing
4 - anyone who PvPs knows that even if the connection was good that all of them would’ve lost anyways
Casuls learn about FromSoft spaghetti code for the first time 👀 as if steel wasn’t going to absolutely dominate the 1v1s anyway lmao
It was just unfair putting people who grind PvP against people who grind pve if there wasn't any latency everyone would be complaining that there favourite steamer got no hit because there doing stupid punishable attacks
Have a seamless tournament and beat them even worse because lag or not steel woulda been on top.
I don't understand why they didn't just make the tournament seamless to begin with.
@@TheHogfatherInvades Bandai said no to seamless coop on tournament as i know

Steve of Sky touched the partecipants Improperly

That win was very much deserved
were boluses banned? sadly phantom hit status buildup is the only thing that makes pc pvp viable.
Considering the lag goes two ways, at least it was an even playing field.
Holy shit, man brought back lil bro outro.
Do they not realize lag is a two way street?????
pvpers hate poor people, and and pvers hate foreigners. Classists vs racists who will win?

So bizarre to me that people aren't realizing the lag goes both ways
Thanks for the great content Steel-I love the games but the net issues have always been heinous. Now I know a little more about why.
