As a fighing games player, you'd be surprised how many concepts can be applied to Elden Ring PvP. You can clearly tell who is a good fighting games player when fighting them in PvP. The problem is that Elden Ring puts together chaps that would never play a Fighting Game and hate the adversity that comes with it... with absolute psychopats that love to take a dump on these casuals. That's because the PvE side of the game feels so entitled. You are """""""forcing them"""""" to play a (very deluded) fighting game from time to time with someone that wipes the floor with them, even with numbers advantage, with no one to blame for their humilliating loss but themselves (because I assure you that they know they have all the advantages). So, since it doesn't hit those dopamine buttons just right for them, they mald, piss, shit and cum to it. People like Asssmonghoul and his fans.
After watching the chat cook, I can safely say that most of his viewers are hopeless. Dumdums who just keep parroting what they hear and pass it on as Eldritch wisdom.
@@DenneskaReally should’ve made that clear if that’s actually the case. That’s not the impression most people had after watching it. His chat on the other hand, hopeless.
Which is stronger? A boss with 10k hp, has infinite stamina, can kill you in a few hits, is immune to sleep(sometimes) and madness, can read your inputs vs a bad red man
@@BeefyCheeks36 They just want to win man. Everybody had to take some losses to get better at something they like doing. That’s not the case with people with this mentality. Big surprise, they aren’t very good because they chose to be that way.
Man I had an argument with someone about invaders and they were talking about the NPCs being just as bad as normal invaders.... these people are hopeless
Oh nwoooooo, thats so unfaaaaaaaaair! Why can't my lvl 999 badly scaled friend steamroll the whole game for me? Getting invaded twice will ruin my whole experience omgggg
Okay, but you don't get to complain if I just don't play and make it as satisfying as eating your own boogers. My go to for invasions is put down the controller and watch RUclips until I'm dead, if I didn't invite you in, I don't have to play with you.
I like all 3 creators in this debacle, and I don’t even play Elden ring PvP. As someone who hasn’t played in months, what basis do I have to disagree with veterans of the community? The patch history shows FromSoft focuses on PvP changes way more as well. G and Steel have thousands of hours across all the souls games, Asmon doesn’t. The PvP community is what keeps the game alive after all the PvE gamers (like myself) have had their fill.
Don't forget such content makers as Otzdarva who've been making insanely creative videos in DS2 which involved PVP, I still rewatch red running sometimes, good shit. OnlyAfro also created possibly the most memorable souls video of all time - Giant Dad, a meme that went even outside souls community which again was focused around PVP.
The only way content like that can exist is due to 6 player limit, someone at fromsoft got mad they werent included in otz vs the world and decided the pve audience wimm never experience 6 player invasions
I would like to add Yukaslegion and MrNosec to the list. Also, i've just checked and the Giant Dad video has fucking 8,2 MILLION views, yet Asmongold thinks that PvP is unimportant, lmao. I love Asmongold as an entertainer, guy really knows how to put up a show, but when it comes to games i tend to ignore his opinions a lot. For example, he always mock full loot PvP games saying that all of them fail and only appeal to a dozen of people, then DARK AND DARKER (not even oficially released btw) latest playtest hits 100k online players and everybody loves it
Elden Ring is my first FromSoft and Souls game. As a newbie to this community, I appreciate all the veteran players/content creators (like Steel) who do a great job of educating and entertaining the rest of us. The cult of personality is strong with the AG community. What he says is Bible to them, and they go rabid against anyone who criticizes or disagrees.
You should get into pvp yourself once you get the latency down its pretty fun. I use fan daggers to tell how much latency someone has with me and i keep in mind where my "ghost" is in relation to the player im fighting most of the time it works
Bro PvP has always been a very much forcefully inserted part of the PvE experience. They are intertwined. People who say otherwise just don't know the series or pay any attention to how the mechanics are implemented. Invasions and Co-op are such a unique and universally experienced part of this game. It's crazy bro
somebody in chat said a lot of these people have never played another souls game so they don't understand. Like co-op and invaders are part of the Dark Souls lore, people don't understand they don't allow you to run through the entire game with another player for a reason!
demon souls literally had pvp as a major aspect and it never left. Wanted half your health back? Help someone kill a boss or invade them. There’s less reason to co-op with people in Er because of how tediuous it is to get great runes and you’d be a fool not to try pvp in a game with basically all weapons from the souls series including new ones. But no, you have to fight Elden beast 100 times to be deemed a wholesome chungus co-operator instead of an evil red man.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you accept invaders in DS1 simply by using a humanity? Like you didn't even need to have a summon, you just needed to access online play
@@ScootyPuffATL that’s how it was in every souls game, DS3 was the exact same with Embers. DS2 was also the same but you were punished for not being human so not really ideal
elden ring is just a victim of its own success. if it sold like the dark souls series there would be no argument at all but because thirteen billion casuals joined the game every balance problem is a huge issue. fans still play and enjoy dark souls 1 despite its massive, massive jank. Once something new comes along and these people mostly migrate away, and patches aren’t coming anymore, there’s gonna emerge a new hardcore meta and the issue will be more or less irrelevant. tl;dr I blame the casuls
U said everything, a victim of its own success, not only in the pvp but in all aspects, PvE, lore, gameplay, mechanics, in everywhere you will see these new casuals putting they’re opinions on matters they don’t know nothing about it, they entered in our home, our community, trying to change everything, even “git gud” is something bad todays days, the community its self became puff chested, not the same anymore.
This reminds me that asmon"D"gold was so focused on defending himself that the guy was making arguments even for when you and jeenine were making casual jokes, like the game being 95% pvp thing jeenine said. When I saw the guy stopping the video to treat that as a serious argument, I knew that discussion wasn't going anywhere. Also, one sad thing, is that those responses shows that you can't have heathy discussions about pvp when these "pve people" clearly don't give a fuck about it, thats why they don't even try to see the good points, they just see the bad (like Asmongold talking about the pvp). It also shows why the pve community is the most toxic one.
Bro these people get into heated arguments over the lore. That’s some people, as for almondgold’s chat, they’re hopeless. They’re the reason he was so hostile, the way I see it. G9’s title was the only thing that was intentional for the sake of baiting almond into seeing it. Not saying that the dry fruit knows what he’s talking about.
Dude i MISS when the PvPers were the toxic ones. The worst that could happen was getting t-bagged or having someone offend your mom for no reason, now the toxic community literally wants the other community (pvp) completely REMOVED from "their" game, lmao
what really shows the toxicity of the "pve community" is that they are the ones wanting to end pvp while the "pvp community" (wich to be fair is not a fair term when used together with "pve community" because while the pve community does not enjoy pvp the pvp community for the most part likes the pve too) are just wanting for both to exist. Asmond is an idiot, as well as every other person that feels entitled to destroy a unique game that they DO NOT have to play
One-Pot Lemon Garlic Shrimp Pasta This easy 30-minute pasta recipe transforms ingredients that you already have in your kitchen into a posh, seafood dish you’ll want to serve at your next dinner party. And since the whole dish is made in a single pot, clean-up is easy. Don’t be surprised if this becomes your favorite quick go-to. Preparation In a large pot, boil water and add pasta. Cook (stirring frequently) until al dente. Drain and set pasta aside. In the same pan, heat olive oil and 2 tablespoons of butter. Add garlic and crushed red pepper, cook until fragrant. Toss in shrimp, salt and pepper to taste, and stir until shrimp start to turn pink, but are not fully cooked. Add oregano and spinach, cook until wilted. Return cooked pasta to the pot, add remaining butter, parmesan, and parsley. Stir until well mixed and the butter is melted. When the shrimp are cooked, add lemon juice, mix once more, then serve while hot. Enjoy!
I remember being called Mexican (Mexicano) when I was young at my school and at home because of my own accent. Funny thing is that I live in a country where the native language is Spanish so to this day I still don't know why people called me Mexican and honestly I am too afraid to ask.
I find it WILD that someone who has absolutely no idea about an entire community just barges in, dumps their absolutely shit take and is then surprised about the pushback. fucking WILD.
the thing about asmon is that he is so good at sounding like he understands stuff he knows next to nothing about and his fans, who are majority of the time just as lacking in knowledge, take it as gospel and disagree with everything that goes against whatever hes blabbering about
I watch asmon and I agree with this his chat was nodding their empty heads and agreeing with every point he made . It's partially because he sounds so confident in the things he says so sheep just go along with it
He either bans you while stuttering half-sentences saying he doesn't wanna talk about it if you try to have a conversation with him, or he starts panicking; ends the stream, deletes the vod and takes a hiatus for 7 months. lol.
He also tends to just use irrelevant data, like deciding that the top people on twitch playing Elden ring all doing pve means anything. Lots of big streamers play Elden ring once for content and then never pick it up again. But streamers focused on Elden Ring as their main game are pretty much all pvpers. A lot of the times the datapoints he brings up are irrelevant or just don’t mean what he thinks they do.
This new wave of "I want a pure pve souls" sounds like not understanding the saga at all. Of course pvp is not perfect, but, why turning Elden Ring into any other game?
Exactly this. Except you DO need to be factually correct, in the discussion about the topic he has no knowledge about?! This just proves that he’s incompetent and talking from his 🍑
Asmon clearly failed his high school English class where he had to write a paper in which he cited no sources and instead said “you can be incorrect, as long as it sounds good”.
Can't believe I have to defend Asmongold now but I absolutely get what he was saying with that. He was referring to how he said RoB as an op weapon which is "factually incorrect" but he used it because he thought that would be the example the most people would understand since it's Elden Ring's most infamous weapon.
@@Eo-ms3kw a wrong example that everyone understand, can't understand the fact that he's totally clueless, you know how clueless people shouldn't make important decisions for everyone? it might be surprising to learn this but it's actually true
My boywife and i HATE almaond golf and pvers in general, they are super disgusting and i always take joy in invading them with my cute and funny light roll pyro build!!(evil)
I saw the first video and I don’t see why asmon or his chat got so upset. You guys weren’t even being condescending or anything just pointing out the difference in opinion and why it’s bad to shit on half of a community because you don’t like pvp. I’m really surprised he said that at the end about u guys. All of ur hours of pvp experience basically thrown out like trash because he didn’t like ur take? I watch asmon clips from time to time and generally finding myself on his side but not for this. Imagine being his chat and being upset that people are trying to improve an aspect of the game that they themselves complain about
To me it seems like he got upset exactly because of that. The title made him think he was going to get destroyed but in reality there were just a few minor opinion differences within a 40 minute video. The only two points I can think of where their opinion truly differed was with Asmon saying that ER is a pve game and him saying that the pvp is garbage as long as the netcode is bad and therefore updating the netcode should be their first priority.
I have to heavily disagree with those “Tryhard” definitions, in basically every game nowadays, the term tryhard got diluted into a negative term that portrays with very little care about actually trying and instead resorts to the most effective way to do whatever theyre trying to… Tryhard in Elden Ring isnt the skilled guy using off meta and trying really hard to male it work or the good player trying way too hard against someone whos already worse gameplay wise, those are old definitions, the people getting called tryhards by the vast of the community is the full goat double bhs nagi whos objectively trying the least lol…
Asmon is just totally mind broken because he cannot face the fact that he sucks at ER PVP (roll catch exploit LMFAO), the guy spent his entire life becoming very good at WoW and delusionally believes this translates to him being the Godfather/gatekeeper of every game he touches (probably just does it for the views tbh), even though his ER build is literally unga bunga jump attack king (skill sold separately), just watch any of the times he tried PVP, yes sometimes the connection was bad, but many times he is just gigacoping because his build, his strategies, his timing, are just so bad. ER PVP has problems, yes Fromsoft is solving many of them, yes Everyone who plays online and at the very least SUMMONS someone else is doing PVP (even if they'd rather avoid it, the reason usually being that they are not confident they can win - smart individuals accept this, others cope and blame the way the game works and create a false dichotomy that "GAME CAN ONLY BE EXCLUSIVELY PVE OR PVP DEPENDING ON MY PREFERENCE!!!!11@"), yes Dark Souls / Elden Ring replayability and consistent playerbase comes majority from PVP, 100% yes With all that said there's nothing wrong with being bad at ER PVP, there is nothing wrong with disliking it, but saying things like "Nobody plays ER for PVP" when hundreds of thousands of people enjoy doing it or watching it regularly and while Fromsoft is actively developing it is just totally delusional and an insult to everyone's intelligence - this false dichotomy is so ridiculous because a huge proportion of people play this genre for PVE AND PVP! Is it so hard to accept that this genre with a hybrid PVE/PVP system at its very core draws people who favour both styles of meta gameplay? Dark Souls / Elden Ring PVP is ICONIC, in many ways good and in other ways bad. PVP is a necessary part of these games in order for them to have the "soul" that they do. I remember how terrified I was when I got invaded for the first time in Dark Souls, how frustrating it was - but without knowing it consciously I was hooked on the adrenaline, it is fun for me and so many others. If you wanna do open world side quest circle jerk without any PVP adversity, go offline or go play Skyrim.
For me souls game are like the only single player games i play and i do pvp after i beat the game. But i understand they cant ever truely be good pvp games because the way the player connection is. They can balance the game all they want and i strongly support that but its never gonna change the lag and feel of the oh how hits land on people. And thats what keeps pvp from growing in souls games.
@@savic1984 Well it's P2P, only the matchmaking servers are dedicated, so your connection is gonna vary greatly, I have done hundreds of invasions and hundreds of duels and while yes I have experienced what you have I have far more good connections than bad.
@@fudgeisg00d even when you play someone that next door to you it still feel janky. Its something souls players are used to, doesnt bother them much. But to a new player it feels so weird, no other pvp game feels like that.
These games have ALWAYS been online games, it starts with the message system (how are you supposed to figure anything out otherwise), then it gets to coop, then the ultimate scary part of the multiplayer aspect is the PvP. If there was no invasions it wouldn't be a souls game, I am surprised that I didn't hear Steel or G make this point very clearly. It doesn't matter about the metrics, saying Elden Ring is not a PvP game is just as wrong as saying Elden Ring is not a PvE game, such statements simply express the ignorance of the person saying them when it comes to the core elements of the artistic vision behind souls games.
In the context of Soulsborn semantics I never seen tryhard used as descriptor for good players but rather metaslaves and people who use every cheese strat in the book, sucking all the fun from actual game just to win ( think Ds2 Ice rapier spam and havel clowns, Ds3 straight sword and carthus r1 spam, Elden Ring poise beasts etc.).
That's interesting because I've always seen being good or at least trying to get good as a part of being a tryhard. So exactly the opposite of what you're saying. I'm pretty sure I already thought that way before getting into souls games. For Elden Ring, if I think of a tryhard, I think of dual lances. They're really strong but definitely not cheesy.
Asmongold would never comprehend there is a really high chance that Fromsoftware would have never taken off and eventually made Elden Ring if it wasn't because of invasions and co-op.
Casuals will never understand that pvp is part of pve game balance and that pvp drives sales. They will never get it or refuse to believe it. I appreciate you and Jee trying to convince them, but they are just too smooth, unfortunately.
you sound like a casual for saying this lol. Pvp with nothing to gain from doesn't drive sales. PVP-PVE are two different things. There isn't anything to believe in when it comes to PVP. If you like it go for it. But it doesn't make you any better for cheesing people which im sure you've done. So again make it make sense. Nothing about this comment is 'Smooth'
im an asmongold fan but my god have his takes been utter garbage recently, whether its wo long or elden ring the dude has been talking utter nonsense, like he keeps talking about how the early bosses are way too hard and only 20% of people have beat the first boss (which isnt true btw is 50%), he also pretty much wants all the game jurno features at this point like easier upgrade materials, a dedicated pause button, auto run features, remove invasions, dont balance for pvp etc The dude has no idea what souls is all about, he doesnt get that handing things to you on a silver platter and placating the lowest common denominator is the exact reason why some of us ONLY play fromsoft games, im fucking sick and tired of games with no artistic integrity that try to please everyone while making the game a soulless pointless experience. If a game has shity areas, moments and mechnics that bring you joy an accomplishment when you learn to overcome and adapt to them then theyre arent shity, theyre just part of the disparity souls taght us.
I think the biggest point Asmongold and PVEers should hear, and something i wish your video with Jee emphasised more. is that you can totally balance PVP without affecting PVE for the worse at all. Asmon kept insisting "we should balance PVP but not if it ruins PVE", but the thing is the majority of things the PVP community want arent going to in any way affect PVE, if anything most of the changes would improve PVE. Things like buffing bad weapon classes and unreliable ashes of war is beneficial for both the PVE and PVP community. It brings more weapons into the PVP meta, but also makes those same weapons and skills which are likely not being used in PVE anyways more likely to be used. Remmeber when almost no one liked fist weapons, the last balance change improved them and now they are meta in PVP, giving us more viable options, while also making them more useble in PVE aswell. Its a win-win. And given the newly implemented PVP damage system, you can make PVP specific nerfs/buffs without affecting PVE in the slightest. Things like powerstance damage being too high can easily be fixed in PVP withought effecting PVE. Things like OP duel greatspera crouch attacks can be fixed with a reduction in tracking and lowered damage, and it would barely effect PVE at all (no one is spamming crouch attacks in PVE anyways) Even things like poise can be modified completely independently to PVE poise given the new system, as gabri has proven in his video. Not to mention things like Aim-punch which negatively effect both PVP and PVE can totally be fixed to benefit both parties. Overall there is no point in arguing whether or not PVP balance should prioritise PVE balance because overall you can do both with minimal hurdles. Obviously there are SOME things that would unavoidably affect PVE to nerf, such as lighrolls, and the community should try to find a good compromise to appease both sides of the community, but i dont like how the whole conversation around PVP balancing has to by hijacked by pointless division, when it can be a collaborative and mutually beneficial effort.
"Stop supporting PvP because it hurts PvE" is massive cope. They had ability to make PvP exclusive changes back when some of the initial nerfs (BHS etc.) dropped, they just didn't use it because they clearly wanted to make adjustments to the PvE side as well. Asmongold's point is sound until you realise that FromSoftware wanted to nerf the PvE crutches.
@@hoked2194 Yup. i wonder if they blame the HoarFrost, RoB, and MoonVeil nerfs to PVP community, those weapons were basically trivializing every boss and destroyed the challenge of the game, of course they were nerfed. Even without PVP they would've been nerfed. I do wonder if part of the animosity from casuals to the PVP commuunity is coming from those nerfs lol.
@@swordierre9341 On reddit, the BHS nerf caused a massive shitstorm because redditors believe that the "collective whining" of the PvP community got it nerfed. Redditors also think that PvPers are against getting a story/PvE expansion and just want FromSoftware to turn Elden Ring into e-sports. I've had to explain why *everyone* wants the expansions to way too many people.
@@hoked2194 I've also seen a bunch of redditors blame the pvp community for getting Flame of the Redmanes nerfed, which is like, supremely stupid, since basically no one even used it in pvp.
Great comment, I was thinking the same things earlier just today. P.S.: Lightrolls utterly break the PvE as well. That stuff needs to be nerfed into the ground.
I don't think he realizes how much elden ring has peeked the interest of casuals and pve players that have gotten into the pvp aspect so much so that there's been a rise in pvp activity and it's only going to increase with the coming expansion. Elden ring may be the game that makes pvp more relevant than it's ever been and that's coming from some one who this is there First souls game and used to hate Invaders, hate pvp now it's all that's left beside coming up with new unique builds the possibilities are just endless.

I'm so confused by the criticism of the accent. It has nothing to do with the topic of the video. Do you need a perfect accent to criticize PvP in a Soulsgame? Like what?
I thought the point was to make noise regarding ER PvP? Cuz that worked out perfectly. If you think you can engage with people who argue that seamless co-op is a better idea for ER than balancing PvP/covenants/organic 3v2 etc., you're wrong. There are people with pretty elaborate opinions on ER PvP who have never invaded, summoned or whatever. The self-entitlement in the absence of experience is pretty crazy. I kinda wish DLC brought gravelording back in some form. Cursing people's worlds would make half the ER fandom mald profusely.
People bought Elden Ring because funny hard dark souls, thought it was too hard, copied 1-1 pve builds online, invader comes in and are noe sad they have to face an actual hard obstacle. What even are the mindset of people now, that a hint of difficulty is a grave sin lmao.
Idk if it's because my first language is romanian but I honestly have no problem understanding what steel's talking about even when he has his brain lag moments
I'm a dreadful brazillian laggy gamer and i also understand everything he says. I even think that english sounds cooler when its a non-native speaking, idk why
12:52 The problem is that this is not really true. Jeenine intentionally gave the video a clickbait title so it would attract more viewers. He said in the following video that he is pleased the video reached Asmongold and he essentially said that the clickbait did its job. So the video was clearly not just intended as a podcast for the core souls PvP audience.
Title is one of last things you do as content creator. Both Jee and I during reaction stream to Asmon's video agreed that if we knew that video would reach Almondcold, then we'd articulate our thoughts differently.

I also wanna say that I did a poll on the main ER sub, the one that's full of the radhan casuals and pvp haters. The poll didn't get any traction but of the almost 250 people that voted: a bit more then 150 say they never pvp and 50-70 people say they do some sort of pvp. 25% may sound small but keep in mind that most pvp focused people like me avoid the main sub(and the main pvp sub lol) like the plague. I also wanna mention that I didn't promote it or talked about on any of the pvp subs or with my friends so that it could be a bit more fair.
@Juan Antonio it's full of gankers, any post about invasions get downvoted to hell and they will flood your replies if they see you with a meta weapon. A pretty shitty place to be
On the accent thing, as an Australian, I'm traumatised by Indian accents from the hours I've spent on the phone to Customer Support for literally anything, they're needlessly so rude too. Otherwise accents are a bit of a thing for me, if I meet a girl with any other accent, it's mesmerising in some way, like I could actively listen to them the dictionary to me lmao. I don't understand the accent hate displayed here though, these people are delusional 😅
I found funny him saying the game is objectively made for PVE fuck PVP and then makes a very subjective point. "if you take out PVP it won't affect sales." if you think about the short terms it might be right. but if we go back to Ds1,Ds2 and maybe Ds3. those games where kept alive by PVPers, most people that recommended the game to friends and made the community grow were PVPers. without PVP probably the community would be a lot smaller ,and Elden Ring wouldn't get this big. yeah if Elden ring didn't had PVP it would sell as good. but if Ds1 or Ds2 didn't had PVP not so much. So miyazaki &cia knows that. and they know it would be good to keep that community alive.
A z drugiej strony dobrze bo wydawca i twórca ma większe powody by tworzyć właśnie takie gry.
Asmongold doesn't know anything about PvP. Even in WoW which he has played for 20 years he has never done any PvP, other than getting carried by better players, or viewers. Anything he says should be taken with a grain of salt. At the same time arguing with him is a lost battle because he has millions of followers who blindly consider his word law. Farm him for views, I guess.
You missed a pretty good opportunity to legitimize your claim by not bringing up Miyazaki"s personal philosophy around elden ring pvp/pve which essentially confirms what you are saying, other than that you did a good job.
Pve is allways my main focus in the souls series games, but I could not immagine a game like this without the thrill of geting invaded or invade ppl for some nice rewards. I realy missed the "forced pvp" experience in eldenring btw
FGC players dealing with shit net and moving to souls pvp to still deal with shit net but have fun. I get far less upset lagging in elden ring pvp than I would playing tekken or so.
The way the game and encounter/rooms are designed and how AI handles aggresion is purely for a single player. As soon as another player joins it becomes insanely easier to go through the game with methods like aggro juggling and projectile spam with extra resources other players bring. So the invaders job is to reintroduce that lost challenge, become a variable to make the experience not streamlined. And the PvE gameplay loop for majority of the playerbase boiling down to "Get gear stronger than the next destination and steamroll through the area" or using builds that TRIVIALIZE a lot of encounters. So the presence of an invader is basically mandatory to introduce much more replayability or force players to adapt rather than just do the same cheese over and over again or just summon someone clearly very overleveled for the area so that they can basically play the game for you. So from the PvE players point of view, they are already shit out of luck on trying to finish the game by themselves and have 0 chance if someone who knows what they are doing faces them. Then they will do what they know best, go for strategies that TRIVIALIZE the invader. Which will force Invaders to pull meaner builds meant to be even harder to play against. In turn players will react via even more degenerate strategies and even less counterplay options. It is a vicious cycle that has been repeating itself for a while now. Games inherrant issues also amplift this issue (netcode, lack of balance on certain options, matchmaking etc) did not help (As an invader against someone playing very passive with lightroll + lag you NEED to have a weapon with very good roll catch if you ever want to kill them)

Steel, I noticed you or your editor tried to censor yourself, I assume inorder to not get demonotized, but youtube will consider the bleep sound you used as a curse word too and still DM you. You have to use a random sound bit, anything other then the basic bleep sound.
Thanks for concern, but I tested it and bleep works for me. I also completely remove original part of track with curse instead of just covering it, so unless they'd consider the sound itself as a curse, there's literally no way I can be demonetized for it.
Yeah this is pretty much what I expected to happened. Steel, I understand you are VERY passionate about Souls/ER PvP but you need to be careful about this kind of stuff. This is how RUclipsr wars get started. Understandably, I know you like to make reaction videos to fellow pvp content creators who you are well acquainted with. Although, doing "reaction" videos to random RUclipsrs who you don't really know or don't know you well is kinda risky bro. You gotta be careful with that. That sh*t can turn VERY UGLY REALLY QUICK if taken the wrong way by someone. Some people would argue,"Ohhh he/she shouldn't feel that way and if they do, that's on them blah, blah". You can't speak on that. People gonna feel what they feel and if offended, things can get toxic very quick. Because essentially what your doing is your criticizing them, publicly. When people are criticized, they're natural reaction is to defend themselves. My suggestion would be if there is a specific topic/take from another RUclipsr you don't quite agree with, I wouldn't call them out. That's what these videos are-"Callout Videos". Instead, I would suggest making a video speaking about it generally. My honest words. Peace, and one love.✌️
The way this thing has become controversial is how these videos were put out. Even I misunderstood until I watched the reaction to reaction again on Jeanine's Twitch VOD. Final reaction by Asmon should have been uploaded IMO.
Common Bobovsky ‘W’. I don’t know if he truly thinks y’all are ‘stupid’. Y’all kinda did get what y’all wanted to , even though the video wasn’t structured. Barring the circus dwellers in RUclips comments obviously. Everything you said in the video basically addressed what most people were saying in the comments, including me. Only thing, he called ER invasions ‘boring’ to watch. I guess that one is very easy to break down for even a 5 y/o. You know where he said “why would I wanna watch this when I can just watch Ninja do this in 15 seconds” or whatever it is he said. Flawed logic, clearly shows how comfortable he is in his ignorance and it was fuelled by his chat tbh. All said and done, waiting for your follow up. Btw, I like your accent steel. Would love to see you inform asmondobella how you can’t get hit during a roll, for a start. Idk about the army of pre schoolers though, they’re kinda hopeless if you ask me.
Player vs player is not coop, sure you can pvp IN coop, but coop in and of itself is not pvp. Asmon was right here, the PVE is 95% of the game. I have almost 500 hours on it, and I’ve played offline for around 400 of it. For me and and anyone else who can respect singleplayer experiences, this is what the games all about. It’s a masterpiece made by Miyazaki, and George R. R. Martin (the best story writer in the world), with an art style like no other. I’ve played the pvp and it didn’t add anything special to the game regarding the big picture. Can it be fun sometimes? Yes. But again, 95% of my enjoyment from the game comes from the experience in general, immersion, mastering bosses and my mechanics, etc. I’ve always been a pvp kind of guy, this was the first singleplayer game that I’ve ever enjoyed. Best game ever made, they could take the pvp out and my 10/10 rating wouldn’t change at all. How can anyone see coop as pvp? Coop is player with player pve unless you get invaded occasionally or invade yourself which a lot of people turn off believe it or not. Everyone here seems to be calling this viewpoint delusional, but how?! Your takes make absolutely 0 sense. Maybe it’s 50% for you because you can’t appreciate how awesome the game is itself, nor do you understand that you can’t just change the definition of pvp.
As someone who was a fan of asmon for years. Alot of his content has just turned into taking others content and “reacting” to it. In turn his community has grown to be toxic as well causing things like this too happen. Its crazy when you have such a large following that just simps to everything he says can cause such delusions.
On the accent side of things i honestly appreciate how "unapologetic" steelevsky's is. I also, not having english as a first language, do not force myself to sound like i have a potato stuck in my throat when i say the letter r, and while anglosaxons do make it sound natural, most foreign people who try to mimic it just sound forced and unnatural, all just that the kids dont make fun of them, and i honestly appreciate a fellow enjoyer of the letter r spelled correctly
I don't even play ER, but I watch your vids Steel. I play WoW and don't watch Asmon. Which content creator makes me hyped to actually play a game I wonder? When I do get some time off work I'll be installing ER to play some pvp. I'm gonna suck but i'm gonna have a blast!!! Can't wait to join the community. Keep up the awesome content champ. you're a bloody legend.
I like Asmon, but tbf most of his viewers are "yes, sir" kind of people . They will agree with everything Asmon says no matter what and go further to insult people based on Asmon position
The only argument that needs to be made is: Co-op is the easy mode for every souls game - with the caveat that you don't get to steamroll 3 people deep unmolested. Hell, you can't even be invaded when solo and rune arc'd. That by itself is a huge departure from every souls game. If you had the big buff, you could be invaded. If you can't reconcile this, that's your fault. Nobody is stopping your fun. PVEVP 3rd person action RPG is what this kind of game falls under, categorically. That being said, you don't have to play pvp. You can play without summons. OR. You can play online with friends, and occasionally be invaded. If you're not just standing around an area, it's not going to be constant. And even if it _is_ you're 3 people vs 1 person. Just run at him and hit r1 all together. There is literally no way to counter three aggro players that won't stop chasing you down. There is no reason to even argue against pvp. Seriously. You have training wheels attached to a fucking tank, when you summon two friends PLUS a blue. To fight one person. If you manage to still fuck that up, guess what? There are checkpoints literally every ten feet in elden ring. It's okay, you're ok, it's fine.
No no some are right. The PvP of fromsoftware games are a buggy unbalanced mess. Skill is an extra asset but def not the requirement to win encounters. Elden ring is hard but nowhere near as hard in both pvp and pve to other alternatives. It sits around the medium difficulty scaling and that's mostly due to it's low mechanical scaling. The game has a big knowledge requirement, map layout, enemies, patterns, weapon effects, stat effects etc. the mechanical side of the game is 2 attacks, a jump attack and L2, if you're dual wielding then you get to use one button less.
I THANK YOU, for posting and attacking the misinformation Asmongold was speaking. There was flaws in the topics that he said, and when he was mentioning that it's 5% Invaders/PvP. Asmongold clearly doesn't stay I n tune, and kiat to prove a point just goes to Twitch Streams, that IS NOT a way to get statistics compared to you pulling the graph and showing activity. There is LOTS of PvPers like G9,Oro, Peeve, Lost, Saint Fighter, and many more that upload to RUclips.
But why in the f*** would people listen to Asmongold in the first place? Isn't he more of a "generalist" gaming youtuber? What kind of expertise a casual Elden Ring player can bring to a subject like this? 95%,5% WTF?!
It’s nice that you don’t act like children when debating. I would say it’s 80 pve 20 pvp… but pvp gives its longevity… I enjoy challenge runs but nowadays I mostly do duels/ invasions.
@@Bitter-Wounds I’d take any insult and give back to anyone in the souls community without any hate. You all fought malenia, friede,o&s,isshin demon of hatred and midir and came out on top. Respect.
Almond golf is just a "gamer", not Eldenring Pvper. I am pretty sure if they do Pvp in Eldenring, Almond might win 1 time for beginners' luck or lose all games. I don't like Steel when he brings some stupid weapons or healing in pvp, but he is definitely one of top-level PvPer
I used to be one of those people that HATED invasions with a passion, but ER made it more fun and when I actually tried it for myself I realized how wrong I was before
I love asmon and the support he does to every from soft games he try but he doesn't rapresent this community like vati, you or any major/old RUclipsrs so fucq it
Invasions has been something since Demon souls, the fore father of the souls games, it continued trough it and only stoped on sekiro, hearing that kind of sh*t from these casuals make me laugh hard and the funniest thing is that invasions will never stop or will never be removed from the souls games, i will keep killing casuals with the most annoying and unfair builds, thats how the community builded me when i was a casual and how i will keep on doing it.
Maybe I'm off base, but I imagine there is a fair disconnect. Asmongold thinks about quality in terms of dollars made, and therefore doesn't consider pvp as important since sales have long decreased. You perceive pvp as something worth preserving because you have fun, and therefore are invested in prolonging player count. Two very different views that need highlighting, or rather more highlighting. We care about what is fun for us, and Asmon couldn't care less about what's fun for us.
Edit 2: That savage comment reply at 7:25... zajebiste karwa jego mać : D Edit: as a fellow denizen of country of Onion and car thieves I love your accent XD Ponglish for the win! Braindead people be braindead. Pvp is not an optional mechanic if you interact with multiplayer systems, so IDK why saying that From should balance it is an issue. It is a core game system and a base game mechanic. If it is: non-optional IT SHOULD EFFING WORK PROPERLY. And I fear that Asmon and the selcet few idiots in his twitch chat will muddy the waters and make it difficult to actually send the good feedback, which could help the balance of the game, to FromSoft or other developers... Also PVP is actually quite popular now, popular enough for me to get consistent high level ( 300+ level ) invasions against both ganks and solo hosts. 999 won invasions on patch 1.08 to be precise...
Asmon and his ilk acts under the presumption that if the game's janky and unbalance then the multiplayer is bad, not essential part of the experience and thus can be safely discarded. However if you look back at all the great classic, multiplayer games, scarcely you could find one that is free of any of these issues. Balance is an approximation and without jank, you'll have a more sanitised, safe and therefore less memorable experience; which is not a case against fixing fire's deadly sin glitch and such, but against the mentality of the normies, who want game design to conform to their narrow perception of what multiplayer ought to be.

"If you're doing co-op, you're doing PvP"
Exactly. Every single wholesome chungus co-op gamer is agreeing to do PvP whenever they do co-op.
It’s a contract, you get help; but you also get to be hunted by others for it
Oh nwoooooo, thats so unfaaaaaaaaair! Why can't my lvl 999 badly scaled friend steamroll the whole game for me? Getting invaded twice will ruin my whole experience omgggg

The game clearly tells them that they are agreeing to a multiplayer that includes pvp when they decide to summon or be summoned
my god we are still having this argument i stopped playing months ago
I like all 3 creators in this debacle, and I don’t even play Elden ring PvP. As someone who hasn’t played in months, what basis do I have to disagree with veterans of the community? The patch history shows FromSoft focuses on PvP changes way more as well. G and Steel have thousands of hours across all the souls games, Asmon doesn’t. The PvP community is what keeps the game alive after all the PvE gamers (like myself) have had their fill.
This is the kind of level-headed take that gets you downvoted on Reddit. 🤣
Good point about the patch history, don't know why it hasn't been discussed. An obvious, yet effective, argument.

The cult of personality is strong with the AG community. What he says is Bible to them, and they go rabid against anyone who criticizes or disagrees.
Which is probably why he shouldn't be running his mouth on things he doesn't understand.

100 agree with this man well said
Bro PvP has always been a very much forcefully inserted part of the PvE experience.
Like you didn't even need to have a summon, you just needed to access online play

elden ring is just a victim of its own success. if it sold like the dark souls series there would be no argument at all but because thirteen billion casuals joined the game every balance problem is a huge issue. fans still play and enjoy dark souls 1 despite its massive, massive jank. Once something new comes along and these people mostly migrate away, and patches aren’t coming anymore, there’s gonna emerge a new hardcore meta and the issue will be more or less irrelevant.
tl;dr I blame the casuls

Skyrim is amazing. Beat the game like 100 times. Amazing story
what really shows the toxicity of the "pve community" is that they are the ones wanting to end pvp while the "pvp community" (wich to be fair is not a fair term when used together with "pve community" because while the pve community does not enjoy pvp the pvp community for the most part likes the pve too) are just wanting for both to exist. Asmond is an idiot, as well as every other person that feels entitled to destroy a unique game that they DO NOT have to play

Preparation
In a large pot, boil water and add pasta.
Enjoy!

He also tends to just use irrelevant data, like deciding that the top people on twitch playing Elden ring all doing pve means anything. Lots of big streamers play Elden ring once for content and then never pick it up again. But streamers focused on Elden Ring as their main game are pretty much all pvpers.
I have to heavily disagree with those “Tryhard” definitions, in basically every game nowadays, the term tryhard got diluted into a negative term that portrays with very little care about actually trying and instead resorts to the most effective way to do whatever theyre trying to…
Tryhard in Elden Ring isnt the skilled guy using off meta and trying really hard to male it work or the good player trying way too hard against someone whos already worse gameplay wise, those are old definitions, the people getting called tryhards by the vast of the community is the full goat double bhs nagi whos objectively trying the least lol…
I don't like way how this term is used in the scene, but that doesn't change the fact it is what it is.
@@Steelovsky yeah I completely agree, specially because i like the term so seeing it being used like that is quite sad…
ER PVP has problems, yes
Fromsoft is solving many of them, yes
Everyone who plays online and at the very least SUMMONS someone else is doing PVP (even if they'd rather avoid it, the reason usually being that they are not confident they can win - smart individuals accept this, others cope and blame the way the game works and create a false dichotomy that "GAME CAN ONLY BE EXCLUSIVELY PVE OR PVP DEPENDING ON MY PREFERENCE!!!!11@"), yes
Dark Souls / Elden Ring replayability and consistent playerbase comes majority from PVP, 100% yes
With all that said there's nothing wrong with being bad at ER PVP, there is nothing wrong with disliking it, but saying things like "Nobody plays ER for PVP" when hundreds of thousands of people enjoy doing it or watching it regularly and while Fromsoft is actively developing it is just totally delusional and an insult to everyone's intelligence - this false dichotomy is so ridiculous because a huge proportion of people play this genre for PVE AND PVP!

I bought this game in PC because of 2 things lol:
1. PVP (never tried souls like PVP before so I wanted to play with it)
2. Mods (don't ask).

im an asmongold fan but my god have his takes been utter garbage recently, whether its wo long or elden ring the dude has been talking utter nonsense, like he keeps talking about how the early bosses are way too hard and only 20% of people have beat the first boss (which isnt true btw is 50%), he also pretty much wants all the game jurno features at this point like easier upgrade materials, a dedicated pause button, auto run features, remove invasions, dont balance for pvp etc The dude has no idea what souls is all about, he doesnt get that handing things to you on a silver platter and placating the lowest common denominator is the exact reason why some of us ONLY play fromsoft games, im fucking sick and tired of games with no artistic integrity that try to please everyone while making the game a soulless pointless experience.
Things like OP duel greatspera crouch attacks can be fixed with a reduction in tracking and lowered damage, and it would barely effect PVE at all (no one is spamming crouch attacks in PVE anyways)
Even things like poise can be modified completely independently to PVE poise given the new system, as gabri has proven in his video.

A z drugiej strony dobrze bo wydawca i twórca ma większe powody by tworzyć właśnie takie gry.

Games inherrant issues also amplift this issue (netcode, lack of balance on certain options, matchmaking etc) did not help (As an invader against someone playing very passive with lightroll + lag you NEED to have a weapon with very good roll catch if you ever want to kill them)
Omg I remember Tru playing DS2 that was such a nostalgia flashback lol.

What's crazy is that there are things like Co-Op mod fixing all of their issues and they still find things to complain about.
The issue is you get fqed by Fromsoft pimp Bandai the moment they smell the mods on you.
This is the greatest thumbnail of all time
Yeah this is pretty much what I expected to happened.

Asmondgold is completely ignorant in PvP concepts. No reason to argue with someone like that.
