This video has been such a huge help, thank you so much! I recently found out that my dog is intolerant to some of the preservatives found in most store-bought treats so I bought a dehydrator to start making my own. I've made multiple batches using this video as a guide and they turned out great!
EXCELLENT VIDEO!!! I'm trying to get my 6 cats to eat an all raw diet, but I have 2 stubborn little guys who insist on crunchies. This method could be the GAME CHANGER!!!!!!
Great content, the research and data behind the videos are very much appreciated. As a future suggestion, if you are open to them, a video about preparing/preserving each protein and organs would be great. One of the greatest challenges when balancing my dogs raw diet came when i was searching the safety, based on bacteria preservation, of each meat.
Many ovens have a dehydration program. Our Miele oven have that, so handy. I dehydrate a lot, my family here in Norway hunt, so I always have things like moose meat in my freezer.
This was super informative -and your pets are so cute, thank you so much! My dehydrator was just delivered a few minutes ago and I'm already looking for recipes 😂 anyways, new subscriber here! ☀️
Would you recommend any additional safety recommendations for dehydrating ground Turkey? I form it into strips mixed with pumpkin puree and dehydrate it at 165 for 10-12 hours. Should I oven blast after? I want to give treats to friends but I’m scared of them having any type is surviving bacteria.
I want to buy this equipment, what is that machine? Also if I dry RAW meat do I have to worry about parasites or any bacteria or this equipment apply heat like when you’re cooking food. I’m a veterinary technician and I want to make lots of treats for my own small business but I want to avoid those risks. Thank you for the video, very detailed and easy to understand!
Please - i have to know; are your dehydrater trays designed so that the meat does not stick or did you spray the trays with cooking spray. will coating the trays with oil even help in that regard? Thanks you
Are they still considered raw if they are dehydrated? If yes are they still considered raw after blasting in the oven for 3 minutes? Or does it change the composition?
I was waiting for this one!! 😜😜 Any books about raw canine nutrition that you would recommend for people that know the basics about raw feeding but would like to know about more in depth nutrition stuff? Also, how long can you store these treats for?
Some great books are Canine Nutrigenomics, Unlocking the Canine Ancestral Diet, K9 Kitchen Your Dogs' Diet: The Truth Behind the Hype, and Optimal Nutrition Raw and Cooked Canine Diets to name a few. You can store treats for a few months if they are fully dehydrated.
Just buy any mold. They have tons on Amazon. I just got 4 that's for less than $12. Makes bones, donuts, hearts and more. Plus I got one that makes 500 treats at a time or close to it. It's huge lol it was abt $13.
Omg yayay I was lowkey waiting for u to post my cat is doing sooo gud she is finally eating chunks omg ur prs are so cute tangy looks like my car aweee
@@stellawu305 dehydrated food should only be given as a treat as there is a decent amount of nutrients depleted from the dehydration process. Not necessary to add water to them either. You're thinking of freeze dried meat! Freeze drying still keeps nutrients in tact for the most part, and that's what you add water to
Oooo I have the get a dehydrator 😱😱 Question: How do these treats affect the ratio of food you feed them that day/week? Since liver should only make up 5% of the daily in take - if you know you're giving your pup liver treats that day do you reduce the amount of liver you feed them? Or these small amounts don't affect them too much? I'm getting my pup in a month and I'll obviously be doing loads of training and will need to have loads of treats on hand so I'm curious if that'll throw her meal off balance.
Great video! I dehydrate treats for mine as well. Have you ever dehydrated chicken heads? Got a ton from a local farmer and have seen them sold but wasn't sure if they get too brittle
Love all your videos you have been a great resource for us! One question if you are able to answer or maybe I missed it in the video - if feeding dehydrated liver as a training treat is it the same value as regular liver for their daily portion or is it now less because it's been dehyrdrated (for example if I weigh these and incorporate it into my dogs meal plan as their daily percentage is it the same value as liver that hasn't been dehydrated?)
So there is some nutrient loss, yes. It shouldn't replace the organ meat that should be taking up the 5% of the diet, however it shouldn't be disregarded either. If you feed a ton of dehydrated liver, it may be best to cut back on the liver in the meal just a bit that day, but because of minor nutrient depletion from dehydrating, it shouldn't be used as a raw replacement!
Hello :) are there no issues when it comes to the little square ones? I mean, will not they scratch our furry friend’s mouth because of the edges? Ordered a dehydrator machine yesterday and so excited to try these! Thanks very much :)
Pig ears form the store still have the skin on them. They remove the hair by dunking the pig carcass in boiling water for a minute or two. After that the hair is easy to scrape off. The process is called scalding the pig. You can do it too ears at home in a pot if you want to get rid of the hair. It would probably only take a quick dunk.
Hello! I’m new to raw feeding and have recently started my dog 50% raw and 50%kibble. Since I still feed kibble and some nutrients in the kibble can be more which may let me get away with supplementing some nutrients and I’m kinda lost on how I can calculate if I still need to add in foods to fill those nutrition holes. It’s kinda hard to explain ahhhh. I’m feeding nature’s logic original btw, perhaps you can make a video about it?
There is a myth about feeding kibble and raw together, but it has basically been debunked. If your dog is doing well with 50/50, then keep it up. I do have a balancing video of what you need to add in to the meal to fill nutritional gaps, but the amounts will depend on how much your dog weighs and how much raw you're feeding. Here are a few videos: ruclips.net/video/6yDyA0jh-sk/видео.html | ruclips.net/video/hHrR_M2HOOo/видео.html
welp, amazing vid as always! I really enjoyed it lol. btw I have a question if you don't mind, but do you feed matsu the same diet he ate as a puppy today? much appreciated! 💖
Thanks! Yes I do, however he ate a lot more food per his body weight when he was a puppy because he needed it for growth. Other than that, ingredients are the same!
not from the Primal Pack but Matsu the dog is a mix between Pembroke Welsh Corgi and Cardigan Welsh Corgi called a Cardigan Pembroke Corgi again not from the Primal Pack
I'd like to have a horizontal dehydrator just like yours ! I make my own dehydrated treats once a month for Happy my dog and he is kean on it ! +, it's much cheaper than buying already dehydrated food.
my oven only goes to 90 degrees C . OOFERS But maybe I can ask my parents to get a dehydrator sometime, I really wanna make my own treats, its healthier and you know whats in them. Maybe I can get one that is used or second hand, so its cheaper, does the job right?
Things i dehydrated today and where I got them Viva Raw Beef cat food (My cat dosent like it so now its treats) Cod Strips (wild caught by my dad) Ground Mackerel (Asian market) Chicken Gizzard Lamb Heart (Local halal market)
thank you so much for this! i recently got a dehydrator, so i’m very inspired to make my own dog treats! i even got a cute mickey mouse mold to put them in.
Instead of leaving your oven open which seems very wasteful just go and wipe off the moisture every hour or so that condenses on the glas. I do this and just run my oven at 100celsius and dry meat in 5-8 hours like this.
Fat won’t dehydrate the same as meat. Trim away as much as you can ( put it on the bird table, in small pieces) then put the meat on the trays of the dehydrator to create tasty treats for your pal.
Too much of anything isn't great! But if you are giving them treats for training or just a few a day, totally fine. It's mainly organ meats that you shouldn't feed TOO much of.
I would suggest to remove pig's hair before dehydrating. Don't want our pets to swallow loads of other animal hairs because it get clog inside their intestines. Surgery needed with Vet in many cases.
This video was perfectly timed. I just started making my own treats. This was so helpful. Thank you

Hi! Love your videos. Was wondering, my air fryer has a dehydrator setting, have you ever used that? Thank you!
So genius to blend and then dehydrate in the molds!! Thank you so much for all the awesome tips!

How did you wash the pig ears? Just rinse with tap water or are there proper steps to do? Thanks :)
if you dehydrate snacks and they are not yet done, are they still ok to give to a dog or cat?
No, better to wait for it to fully dehydrate. Half raw meats can grow bacteria, especially if kept in room temperature.
@@PawsofPrey alright, thank you!
