Honestly, I agree with you that spells shouldn’t be relied on as your main attacks. My intelligence-based character only uses spells like a bow before closing the distance with their Magic or Cold-infused greatsword.
And endgame, I just use the Dark Moon Greatsword

Facts like she is calld the best sorcerrer and shit(other then the demi gods) and she does nothing
to be fair to her, the spiral shard is a good spell that trivializes large bosses like placidusax.
@justasaiyanfromearth5252 more the point she doesn't use it herself in the fight, at least she doesn't from what Tulok and the wiki suggest. An alt build would probably be just use a proper staff and use Shard Spiral along with the Kris. But I guess he was going for completely accurate Sellen run

fighting her is so funny after doing all her sorcerer's apprentice quest stuff, "im a rogue sorcerer who uses the dark side for more power" "is there some way to learn this power" "not from raya lucaria" then shes like "crystal barrage! rain of stairs!" and youre just standing there outside of her range like, ok... but i could beat u with a glintstone pebble. hell if i pull out thops barrier rn i could really embarrass you.
The way they designed her loadout/unique gear and the way they designed some of these spells is just like.... what... what were they thinking, why have these not been rebalanced at some point
The big heavy rock hat reducing your stamina is the most realistic thing in all of Elden Ring.

Funny and sad thing about Tulok going back to kill Boggart. Doing the Dung Eater quest before interacting with Boggart is the only way for him to not get killed by Dung Eater
I think there's another way, but it involves attacking him and then using Dew at the Church of Vows for absolution later.

He was a dick when we first met and even stole from best girl raya but who isn’t a dick when you first introduce yourself to someone? After that he gives off the most bro vibes in the game and even helps you with a boss and his pretty funny. I hate the dung eater for doing that to my friend and since then I always ignore him when you get the necklace back till I get to make that shit muncher my puppet.

I am a spell enjoyer, but the Glintstone Kris is so ridiculously op that I too just started using it's AOW in place of 50% of my spell list in my sorcerer playthrough. It's just so damn efficient and hits like a mortar
I'll give spells this, they look cool! However, weapons just outclass them in just about every way AND can look cool!

It's certainly a secret starting class, and that Lordsworn Greatsword really drops off towards the end. Easy summon selection, if you so choose.

Been a few vids and I think this slipped through the cracks so I'm going to restate my suggestion of a Maliketh 2 in 1 Secret Statring Class playthrough (pair?)
Playing as Gurranq through NG, with Cinquedea, Beast Spells, clawmark seal and some good old rags
Then entering second phase for NG+ with Maliketh's drip, sword and spells and an Erdtree Seal.
Clawmark and Beast spells sound like a bad time in NG but Rokk Toss is quite nice once you get to it and Cinquedea is surprisingly decent. Scales mostly strength too so it puts in a surprising amount of work.
I would love to see a new game plus playthrough as Gideon, although the mixed casting might hurt a little...😅

One of my favorite things is that you can see they nerfed Founding Rain of Stars in the prerelease gameplay video they put out. When the player casts it against the Draconic Tree Sentinel it appears over DTS's head instead of the caster.

Oh man, the magic tier list is solid but rock sling 100% belongs in either "fine" or "good" categories tbh. It's super solid especially early on and does really good stance pressure.

i think you're underrepresenting the stonedigger sorceries. also Thops' barrier can be spammed for as long long as you have stamina and fp with no openings

I’ve always done a mix of spells and melee but I’m also a role player and go by aesthetic for builds which is probably why.
I’m also pretty sure you can use the imp summon to fight the imps at the tower in the mountaintops and still unseal it too.
what about glinstone icecrag? I’m not much of an Int spell caster but that’s one of my go-tos everytime
The shotgun crystal spell is best used vs stance broken bosses I can typically break with a glintblade Phalanx weapon and fire off a charged barrage or two uncharged shots. Most spells would be vastly improved (becoming almost usable) by allowing movement and lower casting times, but alas, we just get 30 flavors of laser and a few solid options for offhand use :/

Bogard is definitely rough around the edges but he softens up super quick if you just talk to him.
In defense of the crystals, the shotgun hits like a truck in invasions, and absolutely *will* nuke a gank squad
And crystal torrent is comet azur without needing 3 entire slots....it also doesn't knock npcs or players down
I feel you should specify that the tier lists are for boss fights specifically, since you rate utility spells very lowly because of their long cast times, when their purpose is to do things like make the rot swamps less annoying and cleanse bleed from the exploding enemies at Mohg's,. Also the lower levels of laser spells exist to give spell casting a progression and are meant to be mostly replaced as you increase your intelligence and Loretta's great bow is exists so you can snipe annoying enemies with its long range while going through dungeons. As for what justifies Founding Rain's 2 slots, I'm pretty sure it is meant for multiplayer PvP to hit people out of their rolls so your buddy can smash them.
They're not for when you increase your intelligence, it's for when you increase your mind. They trade raw power for efficiency. Pebble will always be able to output significantly more damage per FP used than the higher tier spells that do the same thing, and spellcasters spend most of the run asking themselves whether it's even POSSIBLE for them to defeat bosses, mathematically, because even with 0 red flasks it's not a guarantee that hitting every shot and using your most FP efficient spell will let it be POSSIBLE to deal enough damage to win.
Jerren is actually an even baseder greatsword spellblade, because the only thing cooler than big swords is big magic swords

I know enough to admit that spells are not very good, but Meteorite of Astel is rad. It's also really funny to walk in and blast Malenia into the back of the boss room for a minute and a half, before I swing my big smart sword

Kind of hope that the dlc gives us some spells worth using. OR just straps more spells onto weapons as ashes of war and really establishes that spells are useless and you should just always use a weapon whenever possible.

I kinda like that there are a bunch of superfluous spells that all do roughly the same thing. It makes sense that the sorcerers/academics study various forms not for any practical use, but rather for the sake of studying the arts themselves.
The reason is efficiency vs effectiveness. The different versions of Glintstone Pebble are gain increasingly higher damage in exchange for becoming less and less FP efficient. So when you get enough Mind to use them it's an actual upgrade, but until then you're balancing DPS against the mathematical possibility of victory. That's the real thing. Spellcasters worry about whether it's even possible to win with 0 red flasks and max blue flasks, while emptying all of their blue bar without missing. And that's something that no melee user will ever even consider.
crystal spells are actually pretty good
and crysrtal torent is acutally a better comet azure it got you know tracking wich comet doesnt. and ofcourse your criss does more dmg when you spread your stat like this try with 80 int or somthing instead of 30 dex. but well still a nice vid as usual. tho its to wonder why doesnt selen use the academy staff (ya know she was an academy scholar to begin with so where is her staff) wich is ascually pretty decent, its stronger in scaling then renallas staff befor 70 int we stalking bout 323 spell mod vs 326 at 70int both maxed

25:21 mostly agree but comet is just better than night comet for bosses that dont dodge it and comet azure erases like half the bosses plus its the coolest spell by far.
