I think time skip Krillin would beat King Piccolo. King Piccolo wasn't really that great of a fighter. He just was cocky because of the fact that Roshi and Tao are the closest fighters to him besides a Saiyan kid he doesn't know about.

@@vicentecortes2953 Im not familiar with the anime but I guess they did a really good job as well, but honestly, there's so much movement already in the manga
@@KameSensei”I guess” bro this fight wouldn’t be happening in motion if it weren’t for the animators. Toriyama is incredible but it does get annoying when he get all credit for things like animated fight choreography
Yeah but Toriyama is the one that scripted the fight in the first place. Of course there is more flurries and actual motion, but that other homie has a point about how much motion is already in the manga. That's literally one of the drawing points of the manga particularly: how much spactial fluidity it has, people fighting in rings, Tien LEAVING THE RING in the first fight and blowing it up... Piccolo in the next tournament blowing up everything around the ring and looking back forward to see Goku DIDNT leave the ring so he could continue to abide by the rules of the Tenkaichi Budokai and win it properly. The soul of the manga is given flesh and blood by the anime and the people working in all those studios to show us what Toriyama originally transcribed.

Yep, Tien is very technical and has a lot of cool techniques. So does Master Roshi for that matter. Of all the humans, those two are the most well rounded and most insightful.
Tien was a powerhouse in OG DB. He genuinely set a new goalpost in power when he was first introduced, and then he was done super dirty by the Saiyan and man never recovered. Also, man I love when Goku gets cocky. A dude like Vegeta starts loudly talking trash and going wild, but Goku? Nah, man just gives that smirk, which looks almost friendly and keeps it chill. Absolute chad, fr.
I'd argue it was the king piccolo arc that really did him dirty, it's honestly astonishing that he kept getting good showings after that, he did well against roshi and Goku in piccolo Jr, was one of the few people on our team to make nappa struggle, held off cell at a time when he could have beaten the super Saiyans, hell even Buu gives him his flowers in their very brief interaction in the final arc and is arguably the only reason Satan survived to help with the spirit bomb
I did liked that Tien was able to shine some in DB: Super during the Tournament of Power arc. In all honesty, I was shocked that Tien, Krillin & Master Roshi of all people were able to contribute in that arc. Out of the human (not including Sayians, partial Sayians, Namekians etc) Z-fighters. Tien is my favorite human warrior with Krillin being a close second in my book.
I absolutely love that you’re covering the other fights in this tournament. People forget that it’s Krillin who first made Piccolo realize that taking over the world would be difficult from just their fight.
@@SensibleSaiyan Looking back, it’s strange Toriyama forgot how great Earth fighters are at deception and trickery. Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, etc., (perhaps less so Tien) would be appreciated a lot more in the newer iterations if he had remembered how he originally wrote these characters.

Cell didn't learn from the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament. Cell pulled the same tricks with the clones and Goku literally beat the clones the same way and stacked both Cell and Tien like pancakes.
Cell wasn't taking that fight entirely seriously, he wasn't at full power throughout and was even down to Goku taking a Senzu, really the only moment of their brawl where he showed genuine malicious intent on the offensive was the inflated Kamehame-Ha that was capable of destroying Earth where Goku had to use Instant Transmission to avoid. The only moment he was genuinely freaked out for his life was when Goku went balls-deep with the Instantaneous Kamehame-Ha while the final desperate multi-ki barrage seemingly had Cell on his toes, but other than those few moments he was having fun and the multi-form moment was a perfect example of that. Had Goku opted for the Senzu instead of surrendering Cell would've probably went entirely serious to dominate him.
@mattb6369 I know Cell didn't take the fight seriously. I was noticing the parallels between Goku vs Tien (23rd WMT) and Goku vs Cell. When Cell attacked Goku with the Death Saucer, he mentioned that Frieza's cells were telling him that Goku was trying to draw the discs towards him. Basically, he had the battle experience from the Goku and Frieza fight but didn't realize that Goku was trying to take on each Cell clone separately like Goku did with Tien. I just thought it was a nice throwback to Dragonball and a gap in his knowledge he could've learned. Not that it would've changed anything.
This some of my favourite content on yt right now. What a great intersection of the love of manga and the love of combat sports. This channel is incredibly unique. I love it.
23rd Tenkaichi is GOATed. Some of the best fights in the series, dynamite artwork, great villain, best depection of Goku imo and it serves as a great bridge to the later arcs as it concludes the running theme of Goku and co inheriting the role of Earth's protectors. I def get why Toei decided to split the anime here, in many ways it really does feel like a series finale.
Man, these videos are so good, your narration is crisp and right to the point, but not too serious, very pleasant voice too must admit, been binging some of your videos these days. Love the analytical way you approach the fights, focusing more on the martial prowess of the warriors than just the raw power. Truly some great stuff, keep it up! Looking forward to Piccolo vs Krillin, honestly one of my favorite fights, gotta love the little guy’s creativity for kii techniques and of course the main event, may boys Piccolo and Goku duking it out, such a brutal and amazing fight, can’t wait
There's a reason why Tien was called up to the Tournament of Power during the Universe Survival Arc in Super. He's a great martial artist and has extensive hand to hand combat experience. He may not be the most powerful, but he's a smart and technical fighter. Let's see Tien vs Yamcha at the Martial Arts tournament so I can have my point proven!
Yamcha usually gets a boost so Tien doesn't just embarrass him again. Holy shit remember when YAMCHA was the "villain turned hero who gets stomped to show off how big the new villain is"?
Admittedly it was still insulting that Goku didn't even think of Tenshinhan until Oolong was like "Oh, what about Tenshinhan?". He considered ROSHI before he thought of Tenshinhan and they happened to be in the same place. So Tenshinhan didn't get a recruitment episode showcasing why he's a worthy choice, Roshi undermined him, and at his own dojo too.
Legit one of my favorite fights not just for an awesome showing on both characters part and respect given but cos its sort of my ideal for a blend of martial arts, flight and ki. Amazing breakdown here, kudos!
Absolutely love these analysis videos man, you make me appreciate the fights and the animators so much. Something I really love is the change in strategies with the techniques towards the end, its really brilliant. There's another Dragon Ball analyst I follow who pointed out that part of the point of the exchange with the multiform was to show the true power of Goku's new energy sensing abilities. Tien did multiform to keep up with Goku's speed, to give himself not only a numbers advantage, but a sensory one as well, giving him 12 eyes to be able to see Goku with, and hopefully being too much for Goku to keep track of. But Goku showed during the Solar Flare, that the ability to sense ki was actually an even greater sensory ability than having 12 eyes. Showed that Goku's more spiritual training with Kami put him on a completely different level of martial arts, because his awareness was just so expanded beyond the physical, and that's just some great writing there. Anyways, again love your vids, super looking forward to seeing what you make in the future!

Honestly really glad I found this series, I love getting to appreciate just how well choreographed these anime fights are, especially OG Dragon Ball Respect for trying to accurately count the number of attacks thrown in these videos lol
This was a lotta fun to watch! I appreciate the attention to detail and analysis. Original Dragonball had a lot of great fights! Toriyama was in his prime and really putting in a lot of effort at that time
7:32 wait hold up, I thought the big twist of the end of Goku vs Piccolo was him learning how to fly on the spot, they had him fly earlier in the anime or was that just a big jump?
No, he wasn’t flying in that frame. He was just so high up that he was hanging suspended, not falling at a high speed yet. It’s still debatable if Goku “learned to fly” at the end of the Piccolo Jr fight. He just sort of disappeared after the blast then came falling in at a fast speed. Though he probably did all of this by manipulating his energy. But it’s strange that we don’t see Goku fly again until after King Kai’s training. He ran/jumped the entire Snake Way journey and flew pretty much the whole way back.
@@jmeds94he actually was flying, in fact if you see better in that moment when goku and tien were up, he was moving for searching tien. There was another frame when he tried to kick tien and he went up a bit. Goku learnt how to control his ki in the training with Popo
Great video dude! With every frame being animated by hand, it makes sense that the best scenes actually have choreography that makes sense. This breakdown idea would be great for hundreds if not thousands of anime scenes!
Goku knew he was beyond Tien but wanted to have some fun and also test his skills. He respected Tien and didn't want to truly hurt him. Also, you can see throughout the fight Tien's face looks more strained, while Goku's looks calm and relaxed a lot of the time. Really great details by the animators. The disparity in power between the two wasn't huge, but it was enough that Goku could defeat Tien pretty easily once he decided it was time. Really great fight from the franchise.
Think I love these mainly watching in depth fights. It's epic watching in real time but slowing them down brings a whole new lvl of epic. Love these and can't wait to see more 🫡

Dude i gotta admit your videos is a whole new world to dragonball, i know jackshit about martial arts, and i never pick up on the stats - i just watch it for the hype Watching your videos makes me experience dragonball in a whole new light, thank you man
This series of yours is pretty incredible. Not only are you very good at analyzing these fights, but you're also picking some absolute bangers. The Z fights can be really good, but the ones from the first half of the manga/show are where the gold is really at. So thank you for highlighting my favorite part of Dragon Ball (the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai) and bringing more attention to OG Dragon Ball as a whole. After you're done with the 23rd Tenkaichi, might I suggest Goku vs Jackie Chun from the finals of the 21st?
I legit never see anyone talk about this fight and ive never understood why its soooo fuckin good man. The animation is beautiful, the choreography's fantastic and its one of the most straight up strategic fights between 2 masters in the entirety of dragon ball and it also does an incredible job in propping up Goku before his fight against junior. Great analysis 🙏
I love in this fight how goku just countered and broke down all of tiens techniques. Even how he used tiens power against him and shifted the weight to kick tien into the air. This fight really highlights gokus genius and skill.
I'm not going to sleep on how far Chichi managed to push Goku in that fight though. Sure he knocked her out with a wind attack off his fist, but that's because he didn't want to hit her and just wanted the ring out. He dodged everything she had because he was just that far ahead, but her making him HAVE to dodge in the first place says she could have put Mercenary Tao in his place pretty quick fast and in a hurry herself. He was given a workout dodging all she was putting into it, then just went for the easy win pushing her out of the ring. In any case, I think he earned that sweat fighting her first, but yes the Tien fight's where the real action's at.
Another great video! I really like your fight analysis. Would love to see a video about Goku vs Cell, Goku vs Frieza, Goku vs Majin Vegeta or Vegeta vs Cell.
My bad, I got some stats wrong at the very end. End of fight strike attempts for Goku is actually 132* and Tien's is 313*.

absolutely love these video, my favorite on YT right now. It's ambitious but I pray you do all of DB and DBZ, I cannot get enough of these breakdowns. Especially with some of these forgotten fights that are sleeeepttt onn. Vegito vs Buu would be my favorite video even though it's kinda short. Keep up the amazing work!!
Amazing video man keep it up 👍 super glad you’re covering the OG dragon ball fights
Honestly these videos are a total blast. Love breaking down these classic fights and showing well done they are.
This wasn't Goku vs Frieza (which was amazing), but it was just a really good competitive fight.
Honestly really glad I found this series, I love getting to appreciate just how well choreographed these anime fights are, especially OG Dragon Ball
Respect for trying to accurately count the number of attacks thrown in these videos lol
Wonderful breakdown as always!
Great vid man! Keep up the quality and blessed content, my dude!
Your style and analysis are great, man. Keep the videos coming.
That fight was fire 🔥
Loving the analysis
This fight is so underrated, it had some great callbacks to their last battle as well, thanks for covering it!
Best fight disection series out there today. Good stuff!
🔥🔥🔥
Can’t wait to see more tournament fights
Great video dude! With every frame being animated by hand, it makes sense that the best scenes actually have choreography that makes sense. This breakdown idea would be great for hundreds if not thousands of anime scenes!
Awesome analysis man. Can't wait for the Goku vs Piccolo one!
Thanks man! Me too, that one’s gonna be fun to work on. It’s such an iconic matchup
This type of video where you break down these fights is f‘n awesome!
Man this was cool!
This is now my go-to example for next time I end up in a debate about Goku's fighting skills
Really great fight from the franchise.
im glad im not the only one who loves this fight
It’s so under-appreciated
Think I love these mainly watching in depth fights. It's epic watching in real time but slowing them down brings a whole new lvl of epic. Love these and can't wait to see more 🫡
Can’t wait for the eventual 2-3 video series of Goku vs Frieza
That one’s gonna be 2 vids. And it’s in my near plans for sure
@@SensibleSaiyan Awesome! Looking forward to Krillin v. Piccolo and Piccolo v. Goku as well, always nice to see some OG Dragon Ball love
Have fun counting all the jabs tho 😂
Started watching dbz Kai for first time (currently at goku finally landing in capsule to join namek saga) so this is perfect timing, keep up the vids!
Top tier animation and analysis.
Found your stuff not too long ago, this is genuinely so sick. Subscribed when i saw the vegeta vs goku video to make sure I got a notif for the next banger. Keep up the good work bro, matter of time till you make a million for sure
Dude i gotta admit your videos is a whole new world to dragonball, i know jackshit about martial arts, and i never pick up on the stats - i just watch it for the hype
Watching your videos makes me experience dragonball in a whole new light, thank you man
Awesome man I’m glad you like the content
This series of yours is pretty incredible. Not only are you very good at analyzing these fights, but you're also picking some absolute bangers. The Z fights can be really good, but the ones from the first half of the manga/show are where the gold is really at. So thank you for highlighting my favorite part of Dragon Ball (the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai) and bringing more attention to OG Dragon Ball as a whole.
After you're done with the 23rd Tenkaichi, might I suggest Goku vs Jackie Chun from the finals of the 21st?
Thank you 🙏🏼 I have a few fights I wanna do before the Jackie Chun fight but I’m definitely gonna cover it in the future
@@SensibleSaiyan Hell yes. Definitely looking forward to everything you do next
Really fun how serious you're taking this - enjoyed it a lot!
These fight analysis videos are gems
I legit never see anyone talk about this fight and ive never understood why its soooo fuckin good man. The animation is beautiful, the choreography's fantastic and its one of the most straight up strategic fights between 2 masters in the entirety of dragon ball and it also does an incredible job in propping up Goku before his fight against junior. Great analysis 🙏
Just found this channel. I love how you combine elements of boxing/MMA comentary with anime fights. Keep em coming 🔥
Will do 🫡
This video is great, phenomenal analysis. You should check out the fights from the 22 world tournament, Goku vs Krillin is also an underrated gem
I’ve seen all of db multiple times lol. Of COURSE I’m gonna cover those fights in the future
Yooooooo this is incredible!!!!!!!!!!
Love these videos, can tell u watch a lot of fights or have fought yourself please keep making more
There are also just a ton of other animes with cool fights would love to see some others
Bro I thoroughly enjoy your fight breakdown vids. Keep it up
Thanks man I will 😎
This is an absolutely banger fight, always been one of the best in the entire franchise!
LETS GOOO!!! Cant wait to watch another fire video
😤😤😤
YESSSSSS!!! I CANT WAIT FOR MORE!!! THIS IS THE BEST CHANNEL! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Another great video! I really like your fight analysis. Would love to see a video about Goku vs Cell, Goku vs Frieza, Goku vs Majin Vegeta or Vegeta vs Cell.
