      Muscles grow by tearing and repairing. I would imagine if you did all that training then pop a senzu, you wouldn't get any gains since the senzu beans would just instantly heal you before your muscles had the time to properly gain mass.
      Thus resting the old school way.

      I think it was the best training was saw in Z. The OG dragon ball had some good training as well which might be on par with this but nothing else in Z compares to it. I think this also set the precedent (for a while, until Gohan turned SSJ) that to achieve super saiyan you had to undergo intense gravity training. Vegeta underwent the same training before reaching super saiyan. Too bad that this kind of got cheesed by the zenkai boost, since it's kind a of a cheap way to power up. Though you can also take from this that Goku's near death experience during this training also gave him a zenkai boost on top of it. Goku did cheese his way with the zenkai boost when he got beat by Ginuy. He went from being on par with probably Freeza's first form to being on par with Freeza's final form just from that one zenkai boost while he was healing in that saiyan pod. Still, even then, it made you imagine and appreciate that the intense gravity training was probably what allowed Goku to even reach such levels.

      I case you do want to train to complete exhaustion you do it in stages of 3 hours work with an hour or two of break....i volunteered for farm work and doing this i had 0 energy at the end of the day. It was hard for a week but then when i got used to it body fat simply melted away.

      @jamesschmidt3191 11 месяцев назад +6

      I'm sure the training had a massive impact on him achieving Super Saiyan, however Krillin's Death was the driving factor that pushed him over the edge and "activated" it finally.
      Think Naruto, and the awakening of the Mangekyo Sharingan, and how it is activated in Uchiha clan members due to witnessing an extremely emotionally distressing event. Very similar to SSJ being activated/achieved when you think about it. Except we know Uchiha can accomplish the mangekyo through intense feelings of love, not just hatred as originally thought. But it appears SSJ is unlocked solely through rage or a very real, necessary, need to do so. As in, certain battle scenarios and such. And we know this to be true as it's stated in DBZ actually. But that's just my personal specific take on the whole concept in general, not saying all I said was 100% accurate, just to be clear

Goku might not fit that normally nowadays, but in namek that was his entire thing, he abused easily observable facts and pulled techniques out his ass to survive, so namek saga goku is honestly my favorite version of the character. He wasn't wise enough to fully embrace being a mentor, but he was crafty enough to pull tricks like that water scene out of basic facts and thinking on the fly.

    The whole training sequence for namek feels so cathartic. It's just goku travelling through the vastness of space to an unknown destination. All he does is training... training... training. There is nothing else in his mind than to get stronger. No other diversions, weeknesses, stress. His mind as clear as crystal which helps him to train even harder not caring about what ifs and insecurities. The fact that there is someone stronger than Vegeta out there inspires him to train even harder. No wonder he is the main character whom you can root for.

    I personally think all that training he did in that short time was likely why he got the heart virus to begin with. From his training with King Kai up till returning to Earth after Mecha Frieza is killed was only a couple of weeks time and the dude would not stop training and pushing his body. He trained intensely with King Kai, he trained intensely right after leaving the Hospital from his fight with Vegeta on his way to Namek, he trained intensively on his back to Earth with his new SSJ form. All of that training, on top of nonstop fighting since getting wished back. Eventually that amount of training would've deteriorated his body in his some way and I think that's where the Heart Virus originates.
    If I'm right, the Heart Virus is a really good plot point that reminds us these guys aren't too far from humans with our own physical limits. This is something Z does better than Super, where Saiyans can apparently train themselves into Divinity and whatnot. I liked it better when the gap between Saiyan and Human was more realistic.

      Its been longer
      Betweeen the saiyan saga and him getting to the space ship there was a month in betweeen not long but was a month
      The mecha Freezer fight happened nearly 2 years after namek tho
      But yeah pretty sure this 6 days torture and pushing kaioken to levels his body was nowhere near able to take like x4 or x20 on namek alongside all his brushes with death deteriorared his body
      On yadrat he kinda chilled tho since as we saw from super its more mental training than phisical to learn spirit control aka the basics of instant transmission
      Also kinda explains why cell saga goku rathered chill for 9 days than torture himself further

      It wasn’t limited to just Goku tho. Trunks said in the future they have a cure for the heart virus, meaning that enough people in the world contracted it that warranted scientists researching a cure for it
      There’s a lot of theories that he contracted the virus on Yardrat or whatever, but it was just a virus that originated on Earth and spread around-Goku being one the unlucky people that contracted it

      i mean humans do have that....but it just takes time...if you consistently sleep for 8 or 9 hours everyday you'll feel your body healing....look at any farm hand. They have an 8 or 9 hours on an average to do hard manual labor and a good sleep schedule. That long hours of work will take you to the brink of exhaustion.....that's pretty much how our ancestor's lives were. If we on the other hand spend the entire days sleeping no wonder we get so many diseases.

    this is what I miss in dragon so damn much and before ya say there's moments like those in super, No. These moments back in the day was the very definition of the grind, pushing themselves over, over, and over again. Their mind, body and goddamn soul was pushed to exhaustion, super don't do that. Old dragon will always be superior, it's what got half the men that watch it working out cause in the end the grind don't ever stop no matter the age, you keep it going.

      “Before ya say there’s moments like this in super, no.”
      I’m here to tell you: yes. There are. Just watch Resurrection F (the series, not the movie) and you’ll se Vegeta and Goku struggling training with Whis to attain Super Saiyan Blue, not only that, but it was thanks to that training that Goku managed to unconsciously achieve Ultra Instinct Omen, which he only started mastering in the Moro arc. You think he just got that out of nowhere? No, he had to grind for that UI in that arc.

      @@L1z43vr Dragon Ball super barely had any training montages and no of them were on the level of old dragon ball and DBS training is all about transformations while dragon ball z was about everything, martial arts, harsh training, mental training fighting themselves time and time again, etc. Dragon Ball super training will never match old g, it's a fact. But in the end you have your opinion and I have mind.

    I really liked the scripture message at the end! Indeed I was blessed to have motivational characters like Goku, well mainly Goku, while watching Toonami on Cartoon Network during 8th grade as a chubby (or husky as I was called when trying on suits back then) struggling kid. Funny enough, when ending 8th grade in my private school (that was overall difficult to deal with too at that point) another overweight (if not a little more) 8th grader jokingly called me "breast cancer boy." I shrugged it off angrily and going into the following summer vacation I was heavily invested in DBZ and other Shonen-type Anime's on Cartoon network (Yu-Yu Hakusho, Tenchi Muyo(S [there were three]) , Outlaw star, Cowboy bebop, etc...) and along with my step father's Total Gym, Dance Dance Revolution, and running on a treadmill whilst playing Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, by the time I entered the 9th grade 3 months later I was lean and hella mean (only in appearance, I hear im a very likeable guy by everyone I encounter, LOL) . School seemed to be easier with the added level of focus and confidence through the Goku styled training. Also, everyone that knew me from the 8th grade successively going into the 9th were Soooo shocked at my Super Saiyan-like transformation, myself included!
    Fun Fact: Nowadays I still train with a 5 lb wrap-band weight on my arms and ankles, just for the effect of looking and being like Goku and Piccolo when they would throw their weighted gear off. Also, it was a happy coincidence that my high school back then had a mandatory TaeKwonDo gym class for the 9th and 10th grade boys. My previous leg training unfortunately made me soo strong to the point of fracturing my Dojang sparing partner's (John S. was his name) shin, even through thick padding, when he defended my low sweep trip attack. That was at least 22 years ago, and I still maintain my stance of reserved defensiveness to protecting others while not falling into violent aggressiveness along with continual training! Still trying to get good with that One Punch Man training these days! Did I mention I loved the hell outta Shenmue on Dreamcast back then too!

    The Saiyan Zenkai boost was always hindered by weak healing.
    - It would normally take months of recovery from an almost death scenario. And if the Saiyan body is permanently damaged such as losing a limb then it's game over.
    - Frieza's medical machines was a vast improvement in healing but it still had it's fair limits since it could not regrow biomass.
    - Senzu beans however are just insane. They heal you in an instant, even broken body parts that is impossible to heal. The only downside is that Korin is the only one able to make them and is still considered very difficult.

    9:00 you cant put a number on zenkai boosts 😅 think about it. Gohan was at the level of saiyan saga vegeta against Recoome then got a zenkai that put him on par with Frieza. Then another zenkai that made him able to contend (briefly) with 3rd form. Heck, Vegeta was at the level of 1st form Frieza then was stronger than form 3. Goku went from 180k to millions after Ginyu.
    In conclusion, the boost from zenkai is whatever Toriyama wants it to be and it's inconsistent

    • @SensibleSaiyan
      @SensibleSaiyan  11 месяцев назад
