6:18 Jean and Eren had a peace "handshake". But after he saw him with Mikasa he got jealous and wiped the hand he had shaked with Eren. Meaning he doesn't intend to be on peaceful terms with Eren anymore.
Yeah, there is a lot lost with subtitles sometimes. I am so glad I understand some Japanese in situations such as these. It makes the experience of watching masterpieces like AOT all the better.

Can't believe nobody has properly explained 3D space yet.
Humans walking on foot can only move in 2 dimensions, along the plane of the ground we walk on. We can move forward/backward, and left/right, but we can't fly, so we can't move in the third dimension, up/down. 3DM gear lets you grapple to things above you, giving you the ability to maneuver in all 3 dimensions.
The training is just to teach them how to Spiderman.

Sasha jumping for the food is just to show that she loves food, there's nothing more to it. But I like the fact that you guys try to notice every small details in the show it's going be very important later on!
I suppose that for someone who's not familiar with anime, this sort of visual gags don't identify themselves all that clearly.
In the grand scheme of things, AoT is one of the anime shows with the fewer of those.
Don't take Jeans moment too seriously. He basically rubbed off his handshake with Eren on Connie- His Trust in Eren you could say because of his relationship with Mikasa.
The humor points are hard to understand in this anime since its always so serious😭, dont worry, the more anime you watch you'll start to understand

We, as humans just move on a 2d plane (We move in "lines") in a way, we are grounded to the floor. The 3d manoeuvre gear is designed so that you are able to move your whole body from your hips via cables + gas propulsion within the entire physical plane.

Sasha (Potato Girl) has the character trait of being obsessed with food, and her whole “possession” bit was just for comedy. Exaggeration and lapses into absurdity are just normal characterization strategies in the language of anime, even in serious shows.

13:54 Mikasa's line shows her complexity. That she is in denial of Eren growing up and being his own person without her. Though she is physically strong, you have said it before, that she is cold. Indeed she is. Her complexity through weaknesses will be revealed.
Too many people in the anime community underrate Mikasa as a character thinking she's just the strong deuteragonist, not realising that she's actually very well-written just like every other character in this show
That's incorrect, she isn't in denial, nor is this show about the silliness of independence that too many westerners are deluded with. She is just written to know him deeper than his surface thoughts make most of the western audience presume to know him.

One of the biggest points of this series is that everything matters, down to the smallest, most minute details. It will end up being significant in the story. *_Everything_* matters.
I prefer the translation for their gear being: O.D.M. Rather than 3d.

If it helps visualize it better, what they mean by moving in a 2d vs 3d space is that normally people move around on 2 axis, or even simpler, you can move forward and back, and side to side, those count as 2 dimensions, the third dimension comes in when the 3d gear allows them to move along the Y axis as well allowing them to move up and down as well as every other direction along all 3 axis in space.
Be careful with OVERTHINKING with this show. Things CAN be just as simple as they seem😂 2D just means only moving along the plane of the ground, like we normally do. 3D maneuver gear allows the user to move in every direction around them.
Quick advice : never tape Atteck On Titan on RUclips or other platforms, cuz as a famous show a lot of people talked about it and you'll found so many videos from the show and you may get spoiled so just watch it and ejoy.
Another thing I discovered it while reading the comments, there are some people who like to spoil the fun of watching without reason, so I hope you don't delved into reading the comments too much

I'm not sure why they call it 3D maneuvering gear but they also refer to it as omni-directional maneuvering gear at other times
The still non animated frames are due to a mixture of reasons. One, like you guys said, is to do with budgeting and time keeping but not necessarily to do with reducing the risk if it flops, but rather moving those efforts elsewhere in the production. Most of the time, still frames (in animation in general) are done when there is a large crowd of people all doing individual actions, for example lots of people walking out of sync with each other. Such scenes are painstaking to animate and can take up a lot of time which can be used elsewhere for more important scenes. The other reason is a directional choice. Many people associate still frames with low budget, which yes can be the case, but it also may be the directors intention for the sake of storytelling, for example if the narration is meaningful, then the still frames may cause the audience to feel the narrative more and how it reflects on the scene as a whole. Directional choice is unfortunately heavily misunderstood by a lot of people, as seen in another AOT episode later down the line which got a lot of backlash for being "low budget" but in reality was largely a directional choice. I say it is a mixture of these reasons because of the different ways AOT has been handled production wise over the years. Seasons 1-3 were produced by "WIT studio", where the director's (Tetsuro Araki) vision for story telling was more visual and creating a sense of grandiose, so there were many still frames in order to, as mentioned, create an atmosphere for that scene as a whole, in addition to saving time for more action heavy scenes. The production of season 4 however changed hands to studio "MAPPA", where the new director's (Yuichiro Hayashi) vision for storytelling was much more intimate and narrative focus, making strong emphasis on the small interactions and nuances between characters and their animation, hence why season 4 has hardly any still frames and even the most mundane of character actions tend to be animated.

9:02 The room you’re in is likely a cube. You can only move along the floor or a plane with 2 axis while the area above you is not reachable to you. The zip line gear they use allows them to move up and down (reach tall titans) as well as on the ground adding the 3rd axis. Hence 3D maneuverability gear.

Still images are just a part of anime, it could be considered a cost saving measure, but it is just something that is present over all anime. Anime is known for its use of images with zooms and pans to show different things. The REALLY important stuff that needs to be animated is animated but the stuff that isn't most of the time can be expressed through "camera" work and panning.

So I know y'all are just getting into anime and haven't been fully sold on this all yet. BUT if ever you want to branch out Demon Slayer is a great place to start as well.
no matter how big the budget is, that only affords a certain number of frames. at 24 frames per second, a single 20 minute episode would amount to a whopping 28,800 frames. if it takes 15 minutes total to finish a frame, that would mean it takes over 7,000 man-hours of work, just to animate a single episode! so pretty much all 2D has to cut back on the frames to some degree
also I'm sure someone already said it but they are 10 in episode 1 and they are 12 or 13 in this episode(ik they look like 16💀)
