Colin topics are great. I seriously don't understand why his were so low in the ratings/stats episode. Even his political topic kick ass. Wise up kids. Keep going Colin, try an open more eyes.
***** don't remember what episode it was now. But fan wrote in with stats of how many views each persons topic got. I don't think it was a full show, maybe not even a full topic. Could've been part of there intro chatting
I think Nick and Colin are the most entertaining ones on the show, but when Greg just looses it and does that laugh, it is the best thing this show can bring us.
I love everyone else's topics as well, but man, Colin by far and away has the best topics on this show. It's always something insightful, something that teaches you new things while still being relevant and exciting. Yes, even the one about cold cuts, as someone who doesn't eat sandwiches very often it was very informative.
Etymology is so fascinating to me. Both for English words as well as words in my native Swedish. Even more fascinating is to see how some words and sayings has evolved throughout history, and through various different languages. And nowadays, with most of us walking around with the internet in our pockets, you are never more than a quick Google search away from finding out about the origins of almost any word in the world. Great choice of topic, Colin.
I heard "mind your p's and q's" was coined by Mark Twain, back when he was doing movable type for a newspaper. The saying refers to how the letters on the blocks are in reverse, and a common mistake was using a p when a q was needed, and vise versa, as the letters are the reverse of each other.
I heard a good one on origin of Sincerely. In the old days, sculptors used to touch up their work with wax. So a good sculptor who doesn't use wax to hide their mistakes, would sign off with "sans cere", which is supposed to mean without wax. I.e. Real and genuine
The bullets in question were made of lead, which is quite soft and maleable, meaning they wouldn't break your teeth. And they were bullets, not rounds (no casing or powder), literally just a lead sphere. The practice started during the Indian Rebellion in 1857 and continued through the Civil War.
I was supposed to be left handed but I was forced to write with my right hand in school so now I write with my right hand and do everything else with my left hand
Sinister is left hand and became synonymous with evil because when wearing a toga your left hand could eaily be hidden under the cloth, making it easy to conceal a knife/weapon
Great topic. Now can someone answer me this. Which side is the left side of the bed? Are we going baseball terms or if when im laying on the bed the left side of me?
Interesting side note, Nick said "that's a general rule of thumb..." the rule of thumb was a rule that meant a man could beat his wife with a stick no thicker than his thumb. Its kinda morbid but I just thought I'd throw that rather interesting fact of histoty into the mix.
I knew the bite the bullet one beforehand and i also thought the whole 9 yards was a football thing. Still badass though. also LOL this was not a troy baker topic nice try guys...
they mentioned "rule of thumb," any one else think of Boondock Saints? rule of thumb was about not leaving a bruise on your woman bigger than your thumb.
For me the left side of the bed is fucking amazing and its the side that attached to the wall, but maybe that because im left handed and have the blood the demon in my veins so... HEIL SATAN.
Letting the cat out oft he bag is from the navy, letting the cat o 9 tails out of the bag as punishment to get whipped. Don't reveal the secret because the cat will be let out of the bag (to get whipped).
Big foot does exist!! Did you see him walking in front of the camera?!!
Lol

Hmm.
I should look more into Etymology, thanks for this topic Colin!
KEVIN''S FACE! OMG!
I knew this was a Colin topic before I clicked on it. Colin topics are the best topics.
Colin knows how to bring the good topics. I had no idea the origin of "saved by the bell" was so grim. I thought it was based on boxing matches.
Lerkero I thought it was based in school, as the TV show assumed.
Lerkero That's NOT the origin of the phrase... it's "folk etymology"
Colin's topics are almost always the best because they're educational. Totally learned something new. Thanks for that, Colin.
always get excited when Colin gets ready to share his topic. The best.
This should be a recurring feature! EtymColingy!
Loved this topic. I think about stuff like this all the time!
This topic should be way longer than 20 minutes. So good!
That explanation from Greg for the throw the baby with the bath water expression was fucking hilarious. I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard.

Great choice of topic, Colin.
This was absolutely fascinating, this is why I support you guys. Great work!
This episode was awesome. Loved Nick's explanations
Great topic. My favorite is when I learned the origin of Good Bye
Dude I cant handle it when Greg starts laughing and gasping for air lol. @ 13:53
yesss, these are the kinds of videos I like the best from you guys!
That was awesome, Colin. Do more like that, bro!!!
I wish this one would have gone on longer, was really interesting and fun

Excellent topic.
its kinda funny that i can always rely on you guys to give me some midnight entertainment
Hahaha! RIP Mary Ellen's baby! :P
You can always tell which video is a Colin topic by the title haha great topic

I stand by it... Greg Miller losing his mind is the best thing.
I really liked this one, I always find this kind of stuff interesting, origin of things.
Guys I want a part 2 to the Daredevil video or a review.

I heard biting the bullet came from soldiers biting musket balls as it was believed the germs from the mouth would cause gangrene or poisoning.
I thought "let the cat out of the bag" referred to a cat of nine tails for military discipline.
13:40 lol Greg!!! xD
TheBilli96 cracked me up
They tied my grandfathers left hand behind his back in school so he learned to write with the right hand.
This was awesome!
VERY cool episode!
Good episode. How about an episode on the topic that I for some reason thought it would be on: etymology of a lot of gaming and geek related terms.
that baby out with the bath water sounds too ridiculous too ha
andy thomas i was dying lmaoo
The slogan I want to know the origin of is "bought the farm". How could buying a farm be associated with croaking?!
I want to see a British Tv show where everyone speaks in a British accent and Greg does his accent.
Great topic. Now can someone answer me this. Which side is the left side of the bed? Are we going baseball terms or if when im laying on the bed the left side of me?
Baby out with the bath water got dark, fucking Greg man.
Very Cool topic Colin! #KindaFunny
Back in the middle ages... OIIIIII
hahahahahaha
Mind Your P's & Q's is a saying from the printing presses because P looks similar to Q when your using a printing press stamp.
back in the middle ages OYYYYYYY!!
Interesting side note, Nick said "that's a general rule of thumb..." the rule of thumb was a rule that meant a man could beat his wife with a stick no thicker than his thumb. Its kinda morbid but I just thought I'd throw that rather interesting fact of histoty into the mix.
I want to know where "more bang for your buck" comes from.
This was hilarious hahaha
Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Appreciate that Jack Daniels at kinda funny live then Colin.
Ain't nothing wrong with a gift pizza
Lol so I'm gonna assume Kevin just doesn't give a fuck about being seen anymore.
Karl pilkington
Ian Thorpe hahah yeah, this reminded me of the good old XFM days!
Karl came in with both Cat out of the bag and baby out with the bathwater, both slammed by ricky and Steve
Us lefties are awesome!
For me the left side of the bed is fucking amazing and its the side that attached to the wall, but maybe that because im left handed and have the blood the demon in my veins so... HEIL SATAN.
Hair of the dog

That is actually the entomology of 'cat got your tongue'. When being flogged by the cat o' nine tails the pain left you speechless.
RE-NAY-ssance not REN-A-issance!
\/ that guy knows what's up
I wish somebody would explain why Americans say "I could care less" instead of "I couldn't care less" to mean that they don't give a shit.
I always thought it was about a gift-giving horse... :/
*OH*, that's not nice.
Nope. Was promised kinda funny and this episode was in fact hilarious. False advertising.
Sweg
Snoogans
ok greg enough with the extremely annoying and mildly offensive british impression.
Nick tries too hard doesn't he
Chris Bailey nope
you sure?
