I will receive my Bernina B770qe plus on Monday (27 Feb 2023). My first Bernina ever. This is the best tutorial I've seen! Awesome! Please also make one for embroidery with the Bernina B770qe plus embroidery module. It would make me so much more comfortable to use it. Thank you for this tutorial.

Thank you so much! When I bought my 770 QE plus, the dealer gave me a short, fast demo, then shortly thereafter closed her shop permanently. Bernina Corporate would only offer to email me a multi-page instruction book, but it wasn’t the same as a human being showing me. Another nearby dealer wanted $50 an hour to do this for me. So I’ve been muddling along, discovering things slowly and often by accident, trying to go through the manual a little at a time. One of the reasons I bought a Bernina was the legendary instruction, something the original dealer told me about before she sold me the machine. You have gone a long, long way in filling the gap for me. I truly appreciate you!

This is a SUPERB training video that details, in an easy-to-understand format, how to operate, program, and clean/maintain/oil the Bernina 770QE Plus Sewing Machine - a highly sophisticated piece of computerized machinery that can easily intimidate first-time users with it's many modern features, bells, and whistles. THANK YOU SO MUCH, John, for taking the time to make this very comprehensive video, now I don't need to read the entire manual to figure out how to use my new machine. Bernina should be paying you for sharing your expertise and smooth instruction delivery. A machine of this caliber is only as good as it's operator and you have definitely given me the confidence to take on any sewing project and inspired me to create freely and without hesitation. You really are great at what you do, thanks again!

Thank you soo much for this extensive tutorial. I just purchased the Kaffe on Friday I only got a brief lesson on threading, bobbin winding and how to put on a presser foot. I was a little worried when I saw how long it was and I had to do it in small amounts. I would be like OH! That’s how you do that, pause.. run to the machine to set it up, watch more or sew. I really had to laugh when I got to the screen calibration part. Yep did that, shut off the machine too. But I think they must have fix it mine worked when I turned it on. Thank you Jesus or Bernina. LOL. This is my first Bernina so it is a big learning curve to switch but I am enjoying it. I had a top of the line Brother that 20 yrs old that I loved then I bought a Janome less than 3 yrs ago. I have done my best to like it but I really don’t like the machine, it’s the first in all my years of sewing. I’m still a bit shocked my husband let get another machine. But a happy wife is a happy home and definitely beats having me scream over a broken machine every other day. I’m so excited to learn more other the features of this machine. I’m also trying to not get buyers remorse for not buying the latest and greatest. LOL. But I have to say the Kaffe 770 QE Plus with all of the goodies and the embroidery module is like heaven or Christmas in July. So thank you again for all that work you did last year. I know it takes a LOT of work to put together this long of a video. I know I will be watching it again.

I just bought my Bernina 770 QE Plus 2 weeks ago. I had a problem when I first took it home saying 1010 Error. Took it back , they said they fixed it, but for some reason I knew it was not a new machine. Until I saw this fantastic video. I first watched you to learn to use it. I then followed along with you on my machine and found some troubling information. I now know it is not a new machine. Thank you so much for this video!! I hope I can get a new machine!!

    • @ivoyage

This machine also comes with a Free Hand System (FHS) bent metal rod, that is inserted in the front of the machine and goes down near your right leg, which you can use to raise and lower the presser foot, when you need to move the fabric into position. Or you can press the button on the front of the machine that will raise the presser foot and when you step on the foot pedal, the presser foot will automatically drop down to the fabric and you can begin sewing.

This is an excellent class however your threading of a stacked-wound spool is incorrect. A stacked-wound spool never feeds horizontally but vertically so the thread feeds from the side of the spool. Only cross-wound spools are placed horizontally so the thread feeds from the top of the spool. If you place the cross-wound spool vertically then you have to use a thread stand so the thread feeds from the top of the spool. Otherwise, the thread twists and causes faulty stitches.

I’m in the market for a new Machine. My last 4 new machines have been Janome which I have really liked, however the computer in the last two started failing after a few years. Im looking into the Bernina brand. As much as machines cost, I’m looking for something that can hold up to quilting large quilts. I just use my machines for personal quilting, one or two a year, so it is not abused, and I keep them serviced. I’m currently quilting a Queen sized quilt on a 70 year old Singer 301, because my Janome 6600P is not working.
