When building brushes, Use nodraw for your texture! Texture your brushes after you're done so the engine doesnt have to render all those extra textures inside the walls the player won't see. And when texturing, paint a brush, select the brush you just painted, hold alt, and right click on the next brush you wanna paint. repeat. This is a method to wrap textures properly, so they line up when it meets a new brush.
I might be wrong here but, from what I remember, VVIS already cuts those textures inside the brushes when compilling the map. You should only worry about textures that are exposed to the VisLeaf but are not supposed to be seen.
ykw, this too complicated. imma just stay playing other people maps
The game automatically erases unseen faces, but they still affect texdata. On larger maps with irregular texture sizes this can easily be an issue, because once the texdata limit is reached the map can't be compiled, so it's a good idea to keep every unseen face have a nodraw texture
The updated Hammer Tutorial we all needed
Very nice tutorial! I didn't even know that Garry's Mod maps don't necessarily need a skybox to compile and run :D
actually any source game doesnt need a skybox, just something that encapsulates all the entities
Nice tutorial really liked it
Keeping up with this content
Thanks very much
No problem
i didnt need the tutorial because i know how to use hammer for tf2 which is just basically all source games but still good tutorial
then what, was the point in watching this video.
i know you probably needed it, but you could of just used the knowledge from the hammer editor from tf2.

you have to change the proportions manually i think. for example to turn an object a full rotation 0 180 0, for half 0 90 0. hope this helps
