    Having now used the Dyson v12 I'm genuinely surprised how much I like it! Let me know below if you too have got one or are thinking about getting one.... and what you think about it! 🙂

    I bought the V12 detect slim absolute two weeks ago. It is my first Dyson and I am very happy with it. It's light, does not make a lot of noise and the battery live is enough for my appartment. Having mostly a laminate floor, the laser beam cleaning head is extremely usefull (best used after sunset when it''s a bit darker in the rooms). It shows all dust, small particles and cat hair. The bin is also large enough, have to empty it every two times or so.
    All in all a good buy.

      Over the years I have purchased many Dyson products because of their quality, innovation, as an "International Chartered Engineer", their ethos appealed to me.
      I purchased this machine 1 year ago, and have been impressed with it, especially the Laser scanner in the motorised head, if you think your floor is clean, then use this feature, then think again (best used in low light.
      The Articulated joint for accessing beneath Beds, tables (low items of furniture was also welcome).
      BUT this is where the honeymoon ends.
      As I have already mentioned, I purchased a Dyson Detect exactly 1 year ago, BUT there is a defect in the articulating adaptor, it has ceased to lock, and keeps collapsing from what I can see, it is a combination of design and poor material quality in both the locking mechanism the shrouding/support material.
      Now to my biggest gripe (There is absolutely NO support for Retail customers (end users) with Dyson it is Impossible, they want to sell you their products, then, you are on your own!
      They (Dyson) seem to consider that a "Community Chat forum" or contact via a Social media is a substitute for product support./
      I DO NOT HAVE/Subscribe to ANY SOCIAL MEDIA, as that medium is a MAJOR security risk, I will NOT discuss issues with an anonymous "Community Chat Group" which comprises a group of retail users, (THEY ARE NOT DYSON SUPPORT) Dyson does NOT provide any email support and their online BOT is useless.
      SO, basically, now, if you have an issue and are a Retail Customer (end user) you are on your own.
      Based upon this current experience would I buy another Dyson product. NO.
      Pity as until now had very good experience with DYSON, and purchased many products, but their lack of direct customer support is appalling.
      I stayed with Dyson because of their reputation, but, NOW that respect has been severely tarnished/Gone.

    In my country v12 detect slim absolute and v15 detect total clean are same prices. Which one do you suggest? Also v12 has standing unit gift.

    • @james_newall
      @james_newall  2 месяца назад

      Hi dogachatun8715, its a great question and I go into detail of the differences in the video. At the end of the day, it comes down to what is important to you and what you need or are looking for. The v15, on boost, is more power and has a larger bin so you don't need to empty it as often as the v12, and if the prices are the same you are probably getting more for your money with the v15. However, the v12 is still an excellent vacuum cleaner and it's easier to pick up and use. We have also just purchased another v12 for a family member who live in a large home and they're loving it.
      If there is a shop near to where you live I would suggest going in and seeing which one you find easier to use/pick up. Having a stand is a 'must have' I think as ours has been extremely useful so if the v12 comes with one then it's a bonus!

    I’ve never owned a cordless vacuum. I’ve only had the old model of dyson ball i believe like the very first ones they had. I finally decided to get the v12 but I find it hard to push forward in any of my carpets, I think it’s because of the rubber on the brush head. My old one heavy as it is actually glides through any surface. Also it says it should be 60mins on ECO, but mine at full charge only says max 31mins. Am I missing something? I need help 🙏🏻

    • @james_newall
      @james_newall  2 года назад

      Hey philippineGal! It sounds as if there is an issue with your Dyson v12 as you should be getting longer run times on Eco mode. At a guess it also sounds as if your Dyson v12 is on Boost mode, which not only results in shorter run times (a shorter battery life), but also due to the increased suction power makes using the v12 harder, or more difficult, to use/move.
      I would suggest speaking with the place you bought your v12 from and getting it replaced.

    I bought a v12 a week ago. It cleans great. Has got light weight, its fun to use it. But.. the bin is really small and after cleaning inside the machine ,everything, there is still dust stays in the middle undetacahble part. Which makes me wonder about the reason dyson's purpose of keeping some unremovable dust in the machine🤔.

    • @Mortthemoose
      @Mortthemoose 2 года назад +3

      Yeah, I've realised that it's the bin opening latch that impedes the dustbin from filling equally all the way around. Very often the dust will be up to the max mark, but only 50% of the bin will be full....the other 50% will be empty! That's a bad oversight.

    The reason I've never gotten a Dyson is they never show how to install the battery charger on the wall. I'm not mechanically inclined! Can you show how this is done?

    • @james_newall
      @james_newall  2 года назад

      Hi Patriot Lady, thanks for the comment ! I thought it might be easier if I first share the video I put together about the Dyson Floor Dok and the Wall Dok that comes with all v11, v12 and v15 vacuum cleaners: ruclips.net/video/SgMrH4I9CFQ/видео.html . There isn't a 'battery charger' per se, but instead all Dyson vacuum cleaners come with power cable to charge the vacuum cleaner they are packaged with. With the Dyson v11, v12 and v15 models (and all the variations of these models), a *Wall Dok* or wall docking station is provided, where you can charge up these models in one of two ways:
      1. You don't need the Wall Dok, just plug the power cable into the battery pack on the vacuum cleaner.
      2. You can attach the Wall Dok to a wall, it's simply a plastic cradle, then feed the power cable into it. Once it's affixed to the wall, you can slot the vacuum cleaner onto the Dok and by default it will plug into the power jack on the power cable. To attach the Wall Dok to the wall, and feed power cable into it Dyson have provided this video: ruclips.net/video/0_IuF4Znhko/видео.html
      Another method is to use the Dyson Floor Dok or newer Dyson Multi Dok, which I mentioned in the first link here: ruclips.net/video/SgMrH4I9CFQ/видео.html . This is the one I use and I am very happy with it. If you are purchasing a Dyson through Dyson themselves and are interested in a Dyson Floor Dok too, they might be able to do a deal on one for you - it's certainly worth asking! I hope this helps .

    Thanks for a great review. I am considering getting a Dyson V12 for our home (150 m2 = 1600 square feet / all laminate and tiled floors). I am uncertain if the battery power is enough - it says up to 60 minutes but in real situations will often be less than that, I know. What is your experience - would I be able to vacuum our house of 150 m2 (1600 square feet) in your opinion? Also, can you just get a second battery to swop if needed (do you know if they are pricy)? Another concern - is the head too small to replace a regular plug-in vacuum cleaner - in your opinion? Thanks a lot in advance ;-)

    • @james_newall
      @james_newall  Год назад

      Hi Susanne, it will depend on how you long you take and thorough you are vacuum cleaning whether it lasts a full clean. The 60 minute runtime is when using Eco mode, but I think you will be fine cleaning your home with one charge (using Eco mode or Auto). The battery is very easy to remove and therefore is easy to swap if you want to. The motorized head and soft cleaner head will only fit a V12 as they have power connections/pins which connect between the pole (wand) and the head.

      Hi@@GOLFADDICT65 I appreciate you situation. My parents are older than yourselves and live in a home with both hardwood and carpeted floors, where they use the Dyson V11 Absolute and are very happy with it.
      The main downside I see for using the V12 (in your situation) is the bin will need emptying more often than the other vacuum cleaners. That said, it is noticeably lighter and therefore easier to use than the others (I certainly notice it)... and although you may need to empty the bin occasionally more than the larger vacuum cleaners bins, the action of doing so is incredibly easy and isn't a chore at all. I would recommend this.
      In brief, the V12 is the easiest to pick up and use even for quick cleans... which for me/us is important.

    • @james_newall
      @james_newall  2 года назад +3

      Hey Ghost, thanks for the comment! The short answer is yes, but it really depends on how large the area is you need to clean. The main reason the Dyson v12 is designed for smaller homes/apartments is because of it's smaller bin, so if you have a large area to clean regularly then you will need to empty is more often. However, the action of emptying the bin is very easy, simply push down on the bin handle and it _pushes/empties_ the contents into the waste bin, the total time to empty it should take *no more* than 10-20 seconds.

      Hey Trudy, thanks for the positive feedback it's really appreciated🙂! A broad answer this although I appreciate you are only asking about the accessory tools. Yes the accessory tools from the v11 do fit the v12, but the motorheads don't as demonstrated in this two minute video where I also address the question "Does the Dyson v12 fit the the Dyson Floor Dok that is designed for the v11, v15 and Outsize vacuum cleaners?" ruclips.net/video/NB4UpqawYCs/видео.html

      Hey hnskinner, thanks for the comment! It’s smaller and lighter than the v15, and the power button over the power trigger makes it more comfortable to use. So the v12 will certainly will benefit people who need a vacuum cleaner with these changes/features.

      That's why I bought it. My first ever cordless. I still DO find it hard and painful to use though, so am trying it for 5-10 mins at a time.
      It DOES push down on my thumb joint though, which I find really painful. I did read one other reviewer, on Amazon saying this too, but it doesn't seem to bother most people! I must have strange shaped hands! Lol
      It also refuses to rotate when on my two doormats, so I have to use the pet attachment, which is hard going.
      My biggest problem though, is my dust allergies. Despite living in an incredibly dusty house (long, sad story), emptying the bin keeps setting off my allergies and asthma. I'm now doing it straight into the wheelie bin, outside, which is going to cover my wheelie bin in allergens! Also, I will, have to come all the way downstairs and through the house, to empty it when I'm upstairs!
      I'm considering the Samsung self cleaning one instead, but am not sure if it's worth the money. I've never spent this much money on a vacuum before, that's for sure!

      Hello @@Mortthemoose, I'm sorry to hear this. I used a Shark vacuum cleaner about 6/7 years ago which caused pain in my thumb for sometime , so I can appreciate (to some degree) it's not pleasant nor comfortable. Have you considered a robot vacuum cleaner to help with cleaning? They are not a replacement for a vacuum cleaner, but more and aid to make cleaning easier. Hi zureai, it's a good question as we use it regularly. It's holding up extremely well, I don't time it anymore but its lasting a good week or more before needing to be charged up again... of course this does depend on how often you use it and how large your home is, but I'm delighted with it.

    Those Air Watts relate to the machine on MAX/Boost mode only and not even in use with eco and medium/auto mode. Nominal airwatts is around 36 airwatts. Dyson say that Max is not necessary for daily use, unless doing in car for example and it also degrades battery faster too. I wasn't impressed with V15 on my medium to thick carpets, so I got a refund and got myself a SEBO Felix and I love it and prefer it for performance and durability over Duson. But Dyson cordless are handy for anyone who wants easy access, quick pick ups or handheld functionally. The V12 is a nice light machine, I tried one yesterday, not as good as V15 on carpets, but still good.

      Hey Lahony, thanks for the comment it's appreciated! Its the same with the 60 minute battery life, where on Eco mode its 60 minutes but a much larger battery drain on Boost. I didn't think I would like the v12 but as you say it's a nice light machine and (for me) it does a great job.

    • @james_newall
      @james_newall  Год назад +3

      Hi Taki, the main differences between them is the larger bin on the v15 and, when using boost mode is more powerful than the v12 by 80 air watts . However, the v12 is lighter and so easier to carry around, and it uses a power button whereas the v15 has a power trigger (exactly like the v11). Aside from these differences they pretty much the same. In summary, the v12 is best suited to smaller homes and the v15 for larger homes/families.

      Hi philippineGal! It sounds as if there is an issue with your Dyson v12.
      With the battery lasting only 31 minutes together with you finding it hard to use on carpets it could be Eco mode isn’t working(?). When the vacuum cleaner is used on Boost mode it will drain the battery faster and, due to its greater suction, is generally more difficult to push/use.
      I would suggest having a chat with the place you bought it from and get it replaced.
