Nice video! Your right on about the speed being deceptive, it’s effortless! I’ve got a 992 Carrera ( GT Silver Non S ) 385 HP , it’s plenty of power for me! Ive had the opportunity to track it a few times ( COTA Austin TX ) and as you would expect this 911 even with the base 385 HP punches way above its weight! Your 911 S is awesome! Happy motoring!!

Same experience I had when shopping... looked at the 991.2 and loved it but after seeing the 992 interior I couldn't go back. The 992 is also quite a bit tighter and sporty feeling. Less of a grand tourer feeling than the 991.1 and 991.2.
The 992 has much more usable power on the road than a GT4 due to the torque with the turbos and the 992 feels better to me in the corners on public roads. After having my 992 for a year, I drove a GT4 with the intent of trading in and was surprised how underpowered it felt. The GT4 is better on the track but IMO the 992 C2 would be the car to I own if only able to own one.

As a 991.2 owner, I think the Sport PASM (lowered by 10mm) is a total waste of money as it’s barely noticeable. I’d recommend going for aftermarket lowered springs which is compatible with PASM, rides like stock, get rid of the wheel gap, and it’s inexpensive.
As far as GT4 vs 992 C2S, the GT4 will be more fun but the 992 will be significantly faster and more responsive.

The back seats are extremely helpful for storage, which is how most of us use them, so they are a big plus.

    • @darkmatter6714
      @darkmatter6714 Год назад +5

I’d say they’re more than just that - I’ll explain. Most people don’t know how to set up the driver seat. They pull the seat too far back so they can stretch their legs out for comfort and that’s what they get used to. However, that’s just in the head, you don’t need your legs stretched out straight to be comfortable - you actually end up losing steering precision because you also then have to have your arms stretched out. Ideally, you want your arms at 90 degrees to the elbow for maximum steering control, because at that angle, you can engage your shoulder muscles as well as your arms to control the wheel ( I learned that from racing drivers). If you do that, then the back seats can be used by an average size adult. I’m 5’9” (1.75 m) and with my driving position, I fit relatively comfortably in the back.

Don’t get me wrong I’d love to have any of the above, but I’d rather drive something made for street driving and not track use, like a Carrera S. Or GTS. For the 718 I’d get a GTS 4.0.

Sport is the best engine mode because in sport you get all the pops and crackles when the trans shifts down or if you downshift with the paddles coming to a stop. Not sure why the other mods do not also have the pop and crackle sounds.
I own a Targa 4 and I took the base engine with an additional $18,000 in options as the additional 60 hp is really not necessary. I also own a GT4 2022 and I am working on trading it for a new Base Turbo. My big issue with the GT4 is it is just too small inside for a larger guy. But the 911 I can slide the seat back until I can’t even touch the pedals with my feet- and I am 6’2”.

Great vid, I had a 2018 718 S 6M and was considering a GT4 6M or 992 base Carrera, wish this vid had been out then. For me, two factors changed my mind. 1 I drove my buddys GT4 and the power train/gearing didn’t work as well as my 2.5T in the S. In the GT4 You’d have to wring it out to enjoy - 2nd gearended up near 80-mph. So I couldn’t really enjoy the manual aspect much off track 2. I simply adore the 992 generation. Interior/exterior, everything just looked so perfect and was a step up from my last Porsche 911 (05 - GTS +). I was so drawn in by the new design and figured the more liveability would make it my somewhat DD so I decided to order a 22 C2 spec’d exactly how I wanted. I couldn’t justify the $16k add for the S to go manual so I stayed PDK, def couldn’t do GTS or GT3 because of all the ADM so I went simple. 2022 Carrara 2 Dolomite silver Ext , slate leathery interior, RS wheels painted black (came w MPS4S!), Blk glass roof, Bose, Sport Chrono, Sport exhaust, folding mirrors, vent seats, sports seats plus, Ext range tank - 23.7g) etc. and then added a few things - dark tint, yellow stitching, CF vinyl over the piano blk and door trim to protect and dress up the interior. Anyhow, NOW I adore my car, my 718 was a more playful drivers car and I liked every minute. It was fantastic on track and better access given the hatch and frunk combo. The 911 looks and feels more serious and will likely perform similar on track, but probably a little slower. Mmy previous track car before the 718 S was a 911 997 S with basically all the GT3 mods power, brakes, suspension and I have over 1,000 laps at Sebring so know it well. My 997 would run a 2:33 on regular MPSC2 tires. My 718 S on MPS4S, a less sticky tire ran 5 secs a lap faster with 2:28 being pretty common in the otherwise stock 718. That said, I haven’t run the new car there yet so we’ll see,, but I’m guessing she’ll be in the 30’s for sure, but doubt of seeing 2X anything unless I upgrade the pads, rotors, fluid and add a chip to bring the stock 379hp into a more respectable 400+. No rush, I enjoyed beating on the 718 hard, the 911 I find myself pampering it…. Cleaning it up every night, sitting out here staring at the car…. It’s just so pretty, sounds so good, and had a prescience that seems to get a lot more looks, attention and compliments than my 718 ever did. That said they’re both phenomenal in different ways, enjoyed both and proud to have owned each of them.

    I really love your 911s 992.
I have just recently ordered a brand new 911s 992 with about 15k specs. Apparently it’s at least an 18 month wait but I am willing to wait. Some of these second hand 911s 992 are selling for more than retail. It’s unbelievable.
Mine is in aventure green with 911s wheels in satin black with chrono pack, sports tailpipes in black, interior lighting, two tone interior. With Bordeaux red leather and dark dashboard, BOSE sound system plus some other interior around comfort and lighting. I did 3.35 to 60 in launch control. I couldn’t believe the speed. It’s purely exhilarating.
For me the 911 (any iteration) is really only a true Porsche imo. I drove a cayman s. It’s quick but I feel like I’m in a go cart lotus type experience. Not for me. It’s a poor man’s 911.

Furthermore the S is great but if you add the rear wheel steering it really makes no sense. The real wheel steering puts the car on rails and thus fits the 4S. If you want a BMW driving style you really need an ordinary S without the rear wheel steering. If you want to drive on rails just go for the 4S. I never understood people who buy an S with rear wheel steering because it takes most of the fun away.

911 owners will always say that the rear engine platform is superior but fail to realise that when Porsche built cars for racing e.g. 550 Spyder, 718, RS60, 917 et al...they were all mid engine platforms. The 356 and 911s were developed specifically as road going cars not racing cars - why do you think there are back seats? Yes, they have been adapted for racing but Porsche chose the superior mid-engine layout for their race cars, as they knew that it is superior to the pendulum inducing handling of the rear engine layout. They also failed to realise that Porsche by the early 70s had deemed the 911 design obsolete and had designed and built the 928 as it's intended replacement. If it wasn't for the dogged and illogical sentimentality of the 911 crowd, the 911 would not be the "hero" car that it is today. 911 snobs claim that it takes skill to drive the 911 but also fail to realise how much electronic safety aids that have been built into each new model to keep it from spinning off the road, so where is the "skill" in that? Add to the fact that in 2016, the head of Porsche racing stated that the they had to make their 911 cup cars mid engine in order to remain competitive. If Porsche didn't hobble the performance of the Cayman GT4RS to protect their halo car, it would shit all over the 911 GT3RS at the Ring.

The 911. Eventuality most know it was "the best handling sportscar"... You should go into it expecting a car that' is treated end heavy.. That the trail will swing out of you take corners"too fast".. it's part of its identity and the funny of opening a911....a4s neutered the character IMHO....
In the end must of is aren't competitive road racers. The cars will only be street driven with our limited still... These are"street cars"....

I like both cars but I'd have the GT4 all day. A driver focused car MUST have 3 pedals in my world, and natural aspiration is my preferred experience. Also, controversially I'd say that any Porsche with a GT badge should not be available in Silver, Grey or Black. GT cars should be yellow, blue, green or even pink. But silver.... woops sorry nodded off there.
