People who cannot play this mod because it has not as good graphics as D2R are the same who are stuck in a toxic relationship with a good looking partner.
I disagree, i have played every single Fire Emblem game going back to 1990 just fine because its turn based and older graphics doesnt really impact gameplay, but the clarity level difference is wild. I would totally play this if it had D2R graphics but this looks fucking terrible im sad to say, its very hard to read whats going on on-screen for an unexperienced player and it looks very unappealing because of that. If you're used to it of course you wouldnt mind it lol
It's not really the graphics for me, it's sort of the clunkiness of the UI and intuitiveness of most of the features in the game. I haven't tried this mod though, just talking about D2 in general.
Without getting new players from D2R or other ARPGs, the mod we love will slowly wither to dust. This video is very important for the long term health of PD2. Great work!
inevitably most games will dwindle out. rs classic was a good example of that. rsrevolution is still doing its thing just on a minor scale. D2R has room to develop, its not like theyve given up on it, it still brings in big money for Blizz. Not like its at its final stages and is never gonna get new implements. But new players come to it for the graphics and old players will come to P2 for the nostalgia and expansive nature. Best wishes for everyone playing either.
One of the most exciting parts for me in PD2 is that I can just pick any class, any skill and go with it. See how far I can manage, farm some gear solo, trade things that I don't need, get to the early maps, get more gear and corrupt some stuff, start blasting maps and so on and on. The sense and feel of progression is much better here, and that works for nearly any skill build in the game. Glad to see outbursts of love for PD2. Did it myself and happy to support here.
Yeah i really dislike that. In Diablo 2 you really do feel the struggle the moment you start a character. Monsters will hit you HARD. Running drops your def to 0 so it's very important to WALK instead of run off when surrounded by large groups of enemies, these are small tactical details that the original Diablo 2 has that PD2 developers seem to be clueless about. Melee splash is another ridiculous thing added in my opinion when there are systems in the game to balance that, but again the devs are pretty clueless about what is quality of life or an easy casual mode. I get it that people like easier games and prefer it when they don't have much time, but i much rather the slow burn of Diablo 2 with simply the endgame map system of PD2 than all these unwelcoming changes. D2R with PD2 map system would be a dream come true.
@xzxxx-km4vy you are wrong about splash damage. Splash damage is there to balance between the melee and magic class. Why would anyone make a melee class if they can cast mindblast that wipes 6 guys at once.😂
I can’t believe I’m just finding about this now. I played d2 20 years ago, d2r since it came out, I’ve just started on project diablo now. Thank you for this video it really helped me out.
I played diablo 2 for so ridicilously many hours, countless seasons, and leveled 40+ characters to 85+. and i love d2. And honestly i never though i would ever consider d2 to be a flawed game. But holy damn, Project Diablo 2, is making vanilla diablo look so unfinished. Feels like good old diablo, but with all the changed you always wished for. If i could recommend a game to anyone, i would recommend this mod.
Thanks for making this video. I started playing Diablo when d4 came out a few weeks ago. Got everything I wanted really quickly. Started playing d2r, and am about to beat it on hell for the first time better. I like d2r a LOT better than d4. Stumbled upon the pd2 subreddit today. I’m going to get Diablo 2 + LOD & download this mod, and join y’all!
I felt the same - but honestly, after awhile you get used to and come to appreciate it. It's still high resolution in PD2 at least. And the colors are much more vibrant in PD2 than D2r - try looking at a purple or green armor in your D2R stash, it's hard to even tell. I go back every D2R season and not having: Charm inventory, keyboard shortcuts, Melee splash, and having such a rough start as barb each time, it's so much better quality of life in PD2.
If only PD2 had controller support, I played the first few seasons but due to an injury I can no longer play mouse and keyboard. It was some of the most fun I ever had in D2.
I recently fell in love with d2r (really didn't like d3) and bought on all platforms I own just to play the same characters across my bnet account... I suffer from fibromyalgia so kb&m is often not my ideal setup. My question is, is there any controller support with this mod or a way to bind to a gamepad if it's not native? I'd love to get involved but my clicking ability is quite time restrictive.
I've started to play PD2 like a week ago or something but... man, this is exciting. This is so fresh. I never had so much fun playing any mod or D2R since classic D2 (and it was 20 years ago when there is was not many ARPGs). I really appreciate what developers make in PD2, it doesn't feel like a mod, because everything added in game is very natural and perfect. For any fan of classic D2, just try PD2. I promise you, you'll find something for yourself.
I’ve never played d2r. I have been pd2 only since season 2. It’s sooo fun and I’m a long long time d2 player since days of classic before LOD and pd2 stays true to what d2 was and should have been. I could never go back to anything else now after pd2 we just need to grow the community and I understand the ups and downs of a season but I play end to end of a season trying as many builds as I can till the bitter end. I’m currently onto the 7th build of the season right now and trying assassin builds for the first time and MAs is a blast
I clicked on this video with no intention of starting PD2. Five minutes and I went and found my old laptop, took the Nintendo switch out of my bag, flying out in the morning, I’ll be installing it tomorrow! Can’t wait 😜
Been thinking a lot about giving it a shot, some day I surely will. The more I play d2r the more I see it's flaws (still enough for my greatest game ever though haha). First in line for me is some hardcore, then classic, and eventually I'll come to PD2. Keeping the best for the end I guess?^^
Amazing video mate! Definitely the key point is how PD3 doesn't feel like a mod. It feels like the culmination of constant (informed)dev updates . I've played all the various D2 mods and they all had a disconnect from vanilla D2(lod) that PD2 doesn't. It truly feels like a polished finalized version of D2
I'm loving this mod, but is there a way to remove the texture filtering? Switching to GDI renderer seems to turn it off, but opengl seems smoother. Any ideas?

How do I start s6 again...? edit: I'm glad u managed to put a rant about throwbarb into the vid. Btw. Have u noticed that poison necros actually have a way better clear speed in endgame? :D
I've only been able to play 3 seasons, 2 HC and RN season 9 SC just because gaming time is limited. But all 3 times have been by far the best D2 experience I've ever had, from a guy who used to go to a PC center to do chaos/baals with the boys in the early 2000s
My issue with pd2 is that I don't get to keep my progress after the season ends I must start over all over again I do like to keep my characters from the previous ladder seasons but I understand why they don't do that
maybe you missed something my friend, from season 5 i believe, your character's are keep in the non season and you can play them offseason or start the new season :)

@@d2rmodder710 to be honest, I haven't contributed anything to the mod, and been playing since season 1. I would have already donated but I'm salty that senpai kept banning my bot... So now I'm playing legit, but would love to have a bot running at night so I can wake up to some decent loot.
@@nspnutritionsportsperforma6804 I hope you keep getting banned because ruining the d2 economy with bots is the reason to quit D2. Your satisfaction level is the same but you don't ruin other people's drop by flooding the market with your bot runes/drops
@@radoslavdragnev8797 lf you read my comment, I said I am playing legit. I used to bot in older seasons. How does it ruin the economy? If anything it helps the economy, making more items available and lowering the price so that people can actually afford them...
@@nspnutritionsportsperforma6804 your bot is making my time invested in d2 not relevant , because by lowering the price of items and runes you aren't making them more affordable you are making non bots grind useless and inefficient thus ruining the whole point of arpg which is the rush and excitement you get after a insane drop. Watch next season since they have updated their security. Much less people Botting now, I guarantee you it will be worse, and will die off quicker due to alot less items being available even at the start of the season. Bots help the economy, you will see 👍
This sounds all cool and good, but after playing d2r with its new graphics, there is just no way back for me because lets be honest, the graphics of d2 haven't aged well. If pd2 implements modern graphics, i would instantly switch over.
PD2 is great, but they’ve made so many changes and their aren’t many up to date guides for new players to use. For example I played a WC barb last season and the only WC build guide is from season 1.
I love PD2, but I just can't bring myself to play it knowing I lose all my characters at the end of every season. If it wasn't that way, I probably would come back. Edit: Just saw @Dimitar Dimov comment saying it's not this way anymore... looks like I'm coming back.
I would love to play PD2 or even medianxl, but these old wrists just can't handle point-n-click anymore, must have controller support. I think D2 still speaks mostly to the people who grew up with the game, now older, can't play like they used to.
With quality of life changes pd2 has as well as maps dungeons and new Ubers, it’s better than R2-D2 in my opinion. Old graphics have their charm over new ones
The usual items, but with a good corruption, like 1+ all skill or 3 sockets mostly. It really depends on what build you are playing. We have a trading site in Pd2 where you can offer your stuff.
begun pd2 after get disappointed by d2r. and.... i am enjoying diablo 2 as never before. and i was playing it from the begining. great, great mod. never think i´ll go back to d2r
The mod is great. The fact your characters get wiped every season is what turns people away. In a game with limited content your character is essentially the end reward. However they have done amazing things with the game and this mod. I played the first 2 seasons and I'm definitely thinking about giving another PD2 season a try
Kind of like when you support a sports team and you say "Hey *we* need this player" even though you're not on the team. TBH, if that's your main criticism, I think you may have missed the point of the video.
If PD2 would add keybind quick casting (eg. Press C to cast any bound skill and return back to my original left click) I'd probably never go back to d2r.. It's insanely fun playing the game with actual keybinds. Instead of having to use a key, right or left click, then press my bind to switch back to my desired right or left click.. which is freaking awful and makes many classes (I'm looking at you, necro) annoying to play. D2R quick cast option is the only reason I play it over pd2.
The thing about melee splash and the removal of the mechanic of defense dropping to 0 when running and the whole game being mind numbing easy until you hit hell which is a massive difficulty difference are right on point, it's my only 3 biggest complaints about this mod, it really could be perfect if the dev was more true to the original game
things i dont like in d2 the int stat not having side quests for unlocking cube recipes needing to tab out just to research recipes and secrets refilling arrows + throwables Enigma needing gems to upgrade runes Immunity mobs melee in early game misses 9/10 hits stamina amour + evasion = 0 when you move
This would be valid if Blizzard hasn't made it both nearly impossible to find D2 on the store and also make sure it is NEVER discounted so that you can get D2R and D3 complete for cheaper. I heard about this but sorry I'm not paying full god damn price for a game that came out when I was 8 years old.
Let's also say that the community is made of gold. Trading on the Discord is a joy and the rules removes a huge chunk of the toxicity that plagues the Blizzard servers.
The only reason that I didn't like the pd2 is that the market for end-games map is overpriced and the reward was not scaled to the difficulty. I invested about 100-250 ber worth of high-end maps and losing about 25% of the profits. I like the contents, but I hate how pd2 rewards are being scaled.
Are you talking about the right mod? I'm a very casual player (2 hours a couple times a week) and can get GG gear eventually - what do you mean market for end game maps? There is no map market? Even the best builds barely require 20-30 High runes in cost. Very confusing statement.
I came from Diablo 4, Poe, and also played a little bit of d2r and this mod is absolutely AMAZING. I would love to see this on d2r for the graphics update but I have absolutely been having a BLAST playing this! Amazing content man I haven’t made it to the end game yet but I would love to see classes being able to use other classes skills from items to add a little bit of freedom like Poe. But yes amazing game!
If only there was a way to convert Median XL to D2R. That would be a dream to the modding community but I know it wont happen. Laz attempted to make a vanilla mod then suddenly gave up on it. I've heard D2R lacks coding to even start a decent mod. I might just give Remodded a shot. It would be the closest thing it gets to Median. But Median was just pure brillant.
Hey, I just returned to this video to say thank you. I had tried to enjoy D2R but it just wasn't on par with today's standards - we all know D2 balancing blows and there's zero endgame. So I gave PD2 a try (had to play on PC, while D2R I could enjoy on console) and it feels amazing. I mean, they somehow made it feel so fresh without turning the game into something that isn't D2 anymore (like Median XL). Melee splash damage and skill balancing alone open so many new doors. I mean, in the past I would never even consider trying a smiter for PvE but with melee splash? Hell yeah. Ever wanted to build around a skill but it was nit competitive in Hell? PD2 got you. I genuinely wish Blizzard hired these people to update D2R and make it official. This is what Diablo 2 should've become if they kept updating it.
People who cannot play this mod because it has not as good graphics as D2R are the same who are stuck in a toxic relationship with a good looking partner.

@@andrhamm pd2 is a modded version of the original game. The original game isn’t through steam. So it’s pc only I believe.
Where can I dowunload it ?
You won't regret it!
How do you get pd2?
the day they can use graphics like d2r ill be sure to jump on over. After playing with these updated graphics i can never go back now :(
is it possible in the future to have pd2 with d2r graphics ?
Probably not. Blizzard wont allow it.
Pd2 is incredible. I played the entire season 5. Still playing 🤣
Can't wait till season 6!
I f you want the end game gear with doing nothing don't ruin other people experiance and the economy of online play just use Plugy and get all the gear you want do whatever you want.
When d2 starts being flooded with bots irs no use playing because no matter what I get I know its dirty cheap because of you and other people like you cheating and thinking its ok
@@radoslavdragnev8797 just play plugy and get all the gear you want and do whatever you want if you want your items to feel more valuable.
We play online so that we can trade and get items we probably wouldn't be able to get on our own. Bots make that alot easier... You know how it feels towards the end of season when not many people are playing and you struggle to find any items with good corruptions? Imagine zero bots, market will be rubbish.
Watch next season since they have updated their security. Much less people Botting now, I guarantee you it will be worse, and will die off quicker due to alot less items being available even at the start of the season. Bots help the economy, you will see 👍
If only PD2 seasons started as you say in between D2R seasons. But that hasn't been the case lately, right?
Have you ever played path of exile?
I firmly stand behind this statement.
What are the chances of PD2R!?! Is the code portable!?!
Zero sadly. SenpaiSomething tried to work something out i believe. But Blizzard announced there would be zero modding ever allowed.
@@qzl9 zero code editing allowed* you can mod d2r, you just cant do pd2 things in it with only soft modding
Will they make a project diablo 2 resurrected?
This sounds all cool and good, but after playing d2r with its new graphics, there is just no way back for me because lets be honest, the graphics of d2 haven't aged well. If pd2 implements modern graphics, i would instantly switch over.
Seems interesting... Im sure since i try, i will like :)
great video.
2:07 Why doesn’t the "Winged Axe" have any durability? Wouldn’t that essentially make it an "Indestructible” item?
PD2 throw items/arrows do not have quantity, so yes you want ethereal throw items always
Gotta be scary loving a game that not many people play.
How about path of diablo isnt it better than pd2?
I played Season 1 and it was awsome! But for some reason i cant play game at 30 fps anymore.
PD2 is great, but they’ve made so many changes and their aren’t many up to date guides for new players to use. For example I played a WC barb last season and the only WC build guide is from season 1.
@Arkryder 52 I’m a casual on PD2 I’m sure I wasn’t even playing WC barb correct lol it was solid during maps though once I got it going.
@Arkryder 52 haha that is true.
Why do you need a guide? Just play
@@jaredmcclure1730 because I don’t have the free time to figure out all the changes what/how they work together.
I love PD2, but I just can't bring myself to play it knowing I lose all my characters at the end of every season. If it wasn't that way, I probably would come back.
Edit: Just saw @Dimitar Dimov comment saying it's not this way anymore... looks like I'm coming back.
I play both because they are both completely different games but are both still masterpieces.
Old graphics have their charm over new ones
do your character stay for ever or delete after 60 day ?
chars don't expire
How’s the trading? What items hold value?
The usual items, but with a good corruption, like 1+ all skill or 3 sockets mostly. It really depends on what build you are playing. We have a trading site in Pd2 where you can offer your stuff.
I also play DoA for the "assets". 😗
begun pd2 after get disappointed by d2r. and.... i am enjoying diablo 2 as never before. and i was playing it from the begining. great, great mod. never think i´ll go back to d2r
The mod is great. The fact your characters get wiped every season is what turns people away. In a game with limited content your character is essentially the end reward. However they have done amazing things with the game and this mod. I played the first 2 seasons and I'm definitely thinking about giving another PD2 season a try
non-ladder is now active. characters come back just as non-ladder like regular LOD
@@Lawlsuit Good to know. I'll definitely be looking into playing again
since i have played pd2 its hard to get back to the og farm spots.... endgame is so much better here and i love blasting maps
I am going to see a BER rune every 5 seasons ?
I will wait for d2r version someday ™
Are you the developer for PD2? If not, why do you say "we" have staggered the season starts as if you have any control over the issue?
PD2 has quick cast in season 5.
You're a year late buddy - it's had quickcast for awihle :)
Ill give him a try for sure anyway i play witn the old graphic...
I was trying to figure out what I wanted to try next playing the beelzebub mod atm so I might hit this up after I kill Diablo.
things i dont like in d2
the int stat
not having side quests for unlocking cube recipes
needing to tab out just to research recipes and secrets
refilling arrows + throwables
Enigma
needing gems to upgrade runes
Immunity mobs
melee in early game misses 9/10 hits
stamina
amour + evasion = 0 when you move
Lets hope this will be ported on D2r private server one day :D or maybe blizzard will re-enable open bnet on D2r
If only I could get D2R graphics 😢
The only reason that I didn't like the pd2 is that the market for end-games map is overpriced and the reward was not scaled to the difficulty.
I invested about 100-250 ber worth of high-end maps and losing about 25% of the profits.
I like the contents, but I hate how pd2 rewards are being scaled.
What?
30 something millennial. Gonna try this soon. Thanks for the video.
Reason #1. Summon Zon
Any news on pd2 season 6 release date?
Revealing the release date Saturday, Oct 29th.
25th november
the only reason d2r players are not playing pd2 is the graphics ....
Seems really bad timing with Season 7.. as season 4 D2R Ladder droopping on May 4th
PD2R please
